Safari is a tabbed browser is it not?

Safari supports tabs. We all know this.
I use it as my default browser on both my Mac's and I like it but one thing that drives me absolutely nuts is the fact that if I click on a link within a web page it will open a new "Window" and not a "Tab". I can't understand why a "Tabbed" browser doesn't actually use them.
I can't stand using FireFox on my Mac's as it just looks so bum ugly and Camino just isn't quite right as far as I am concerned.
Firefox opens links in new tabs with no problems so why can't Safari?

The only thing is that every time Safari updates it seems that Saft breaks.
SAFT, as well as other 3rd party add-ons, is coded specifically for a Safari version. That's more Apple's doing in how these items are handled. So when Safari is altered by Apple, the 3rd party items have to be revised to remain compatible. Hence, the stream of "upgrades".
The "Applications in Tab" thing does not work. I have tried that and I still get new windows from most page links.
No different here. Without SAFT it doesn't work.
why should we have to pay for an add-on that does what the browser should do?
Consider posing that question to Apple in the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple. Personally, I don't mind paying the Developer for his efforts. I'm glad someone is responsive to User needs in Safari.

If you press and hold a link on a page, then after a second or two you should get a popup with one of the options being to 'open in a new tab', or you can use the '+' button to the right of the tabs to open a new tab - is that what you mean ?

Safari 5 closing tab - link color does not change

When clicking a link to go to a new tab, then closing the tab, that link no longer changes color to show that it was was clicked, you have to refresh to force the color to change. (This was a problem in an early update of Safari 4, but fixed a short time later. It's now back in Safari 5.)

Could be the preferences are corrupted after the update.
Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari...

Can't use tabbed browsing since Safari update

Ever since I downloaded the update today I can't browse using tabs. If I go to preferences and changed to tabbed browsing Safari constantly quits.
If I delete my Safari .plist file everything is back to "normal". This is a pretty obvious bug. Anyone else having this problem ? I feel that there are a lot of people out there that do not know to delete their .plist file as a troubleshooting method.

I don't see any non Apple applications listed in the crash log near the top of the Binary Images section and I have not installed anything related to Safari but Windows media player.
Further down in the crash log it shows the following....What do you make of this ?? It is not causing a kernal panic, just makes Safari quit. Below this I have listed the info under Binary Images...

When using tabbed browsing, if I click to open a new tab, why will it not automatically load my homepage in the new tab instead of a blank window?

I use tabbed browsing with the tab bar visible at all times so I can click on a new tab when convenient.Why can my homepage not load automatically on that newly opened tab insted of a blank screen with a search bar saying "you've opened a new tab".........well yeah. I have looked through the options and cannot find anything to open a new tab with the homepage. Is it possible? Have I missed it? If it's not possible, could you make it so?

I do not really know much about this kind of problem, but i may be your internet connection.
If you are on your own #G network then:
Go to Settings > then enable "Airplane Mode". Count to 10 and then disable it.
Then wait patiently until you get a good connection and then try again.
If you are on a nearby Wi-Fi connection then:
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > then disable then enable after counting to 10. Make sure that you are connected and then try again.
If all else fails, then you need to contact your provider for assistance.

Downloading IE because Firefox is messed up...multiple issues (1) browser window missing = no window to input address data. (2) No back or forward arrow buttons (3) tabbed browsing not working

THERE is NO DATA in the help files for this:
I CANNOT navigate the WWW with these parts of FireFox missing.
1) backwards and forwards arrows are missing
2) The Tabbed browsing is not working
when I click on tabbed browsing I get a blank screen and because the browser window is missing I cannot type in an address or any other data.

Pressing "F11" will toggle Full Screen mode on/off in most browsers. In Full Screen mode you will not display toolbars.

New tab browsing in Safari 6.0

Safari 6.0 let's you show all of the open tabs within the browser window. You can use a two finger pinch or the Show All Tab button (tab tool bar/right hand side). Here is a Youtube video I just made showing the new tab browsing in Safari.
