Safari is being redirected to a Facebook page whenever I open or try to browse

Starting today, feb 7th, every time I open Safari, or try to browse to other sites, I am redirected to a Facebook page which is posting an error message.  Same thing is happening on both my MacBook pro, and Mac desktop.  Is this a new virus?  Any cures available?

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
If any extensions are installed, disable them and test.

    Hello Simeon.
    If a site is hacked or infected, the best course of action is to immediately stop using it. On the other hand, it seems to be working fine for me. You may be having a problem with some extension that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all extension s (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?

    Hi,
    You have added every category there is to this Post.
    I take it is actually about a web browser access to Facebook ?
    OS X version can be useful to know.
    The Browser would certainly be key information.
    Any error messages you see would be useful.
    I actually answer questions on Messages (The App for sending Messages to people).
    As there is no actual question that relates to the Messages app I will be moving on  (not coming back to answer/reply in the future).

  • The home page opens unfinished, keep being redirected to unwanted add pages.

    When Firefox opens my home page ( Fox News ) the page doesn't finish. Some of the page is still in what I would call (code) and there are large blank spaces between articles.
    When the home page is opening it often gets redirected to unwanted pages. If I right click on the green back arrow the word redirect is one of the lines there.
    I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled it. No change.
    I opened Fox News in Google Chrome and it loaded OK.

    I'm not sure why you are being redirected but here are some thoughts:
    (1) In case your preference for .us is stored in a cookie -- rather than an account setting -- try clearing cookies for the site (this likely will terminate your session, so save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
    * click the globe or padlock in the address bar > More Information > Security > "View Cookies"
    * right-click the page > View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Tools menu > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
    Any change when navigating from the home page?
    (2) If you granted the site permission to access your location, turn that off. You can access site-specific permissions while viewing a page on the site using the Page Info dialog. Either:
    * click the globe or padlock in the address bar > More Information > Permissions
    * right-click the page > View Page Info > Permissions
    * Tools menu > Page Info > Permissions
    (See screen shot regarding Location permission)
    (3) If the site uses your preferred language to redirect, you could add en-GB and re-order your languages. However, this could lead to strange results on other sites. If you want to try it, access the Languages dialog from Content options here:
    orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Content > Choose button

  • I can no longer leave a comment on my or others facebook pages. Some tab said that my browser security is blocking it. How do I change this? Sarah Clark

    I can't add comments to my or others facebook pages. This was not previously the case. I don't know if I accidentally clicked on some update or what.
    It is when I want to leave text as a comment. No mouse cursor shows up, and I can't type in anything.
    I have tried to disable all addons that I thought might be related, but still nothing can be typed in the comment.
    One popup box said that my browser security is not allowing.

  • How do I get Firefox to open my home page whenever I open a new tab?

    I have Google as my home page. Rather than opening a new tab and getting a blank page, I'd like to open a new tab and get Google coming up. I'm fairly certain that this was possible in old Firefox, and would like to know if it is still possible and if so how!?! Thanks!

    Firefox can have multiple home pages if you wish. Each home page that will open when starting Firefox is separated by the "|" character.
    See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/How+to+set+the+home+page
    To have new tabs open a specific web site, add one of the following extensions:
    http://sogame.awardspace.com/newtaburl/
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/777

  • After quitting safari still being able to scroll back pages

    we just got an iMac for our whole family.. i logged onto facebook, logged off.. messed with my new fancy "back" button gesture funtion on my track pad.. and realized that everywhere that i had just been on facebook was still able to be seen.. even without logging in and typing in my password.. there has to be some way to make safari more private for a multiple user computer without clearing the history after doing anything one person may want private.

    Enable Private Browsing from the Safari menu bar.

  • Big authentication problem: not being redirected to the login page

    Hello, everybody!
    I've just noticed a big problem in the web application I'm developing. In this
    application I'm using the FORM authentication method as you can see below in the
    web.xml file:
      <security-constraint>
         <web-resource-collection>
                <web-resource-name>permitido</web-resource-name>
                <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern>
           </web-resource-collection>
           <user-data-constraint>
                <transport-guarantee>NONE</transport-guarantee>
           </user-data-constraint>
      </security-constraint>
      <security-constraint>
           <web-resource-collection>

                <url-pattern>/confirmacaoreserva.jsp</url-pattern>
                <url-pattern>/confirmacaoreserva.faces</url-pattern>
                <url-pattern>/reservaconfirmada.jsp</url-pattern>
                <url-pattern>/reservaconfirmada.faces</url-pattern>
           </web-resource-collection>

      </login-config>
      <security-role>
           <role-name>ADMINISTRADOR</role-name>
      </security-role>
      <security-role>
           <role-name>USUARIO</role-name>
      </security-role>If I type in the browser's address field any of the protected pages,
    confirmacaoreserva.faces or reservaconfirmada.faces, the web container redirects
    me to the login page as expected, as I was'n authenticated yet. Until till
    this point everything is working without problem. But I noticed, to my surprise,
    that when I click on a link in a web page like this:
    <h:commandLink value="#{msg.reservar}" action="#{materiais.reservarMaterial}">
        <f:setPropertyActionListener target="#{materiais.codigoMaterial}" value="#{material.codigo}" />
    </h:commandLink>
    // in the backing bean
    public String reservarMaterial()
        // some processing...
        return "confirmacaoReserva";
    // in faces-config.xml
    <navigation-rule>
        <navigation-case>
            <from-outcome>confirmacaoReserva</from-outcome>
            <to-view-id>/confirmacaoreserva.jsp</to-view-id>
        </navigation-case>
    </navigation-rule>it completely by-passes the web container authentication and redirects me to the
    protected page (+confirmacaoreserva+) without asking me first to authenticate in
    the login page. Of course this is unacceptable.
    So, how can I solve this? How do I fix this problem?
    Thank you.

  • Home page - whenever I open, it does not "refresh." When I go to yahoo mail, my "news" tab continues to show Jul 14th headlines, etc.

    If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) like <i>Adblock Plus</i> or <i>NoScript</i> or <i>Flash Block</i> that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
    *Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Safe+Mode
    You can use one of these to start Firefox in <u>Safe mode</u>:
    *On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
    *On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
    *Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    If it works in Firefox Safe-mode then disable all extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.
    Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Firefox defaults to opening the "crashed" page whenever it opens

    Every time I close down Firefox I have the same problem on restart. It pops up the "sorry" screen about restoring pages and lists the open tabs I had. Except they are not the open tabs I was using, but an old subset. It doesn't matter if I use the "X" botton or click on the drop down tab "Exit" the same page pops up. I have unclicked the tabs I no longer use and reload, I have gone to options and selected "use current as home page" but it keeps happening. I get the tabs sorted as I want and then boom on restart the same error page and allllll the old tabs. I am using FF 3.6.13 un a 64bit Windows 7 installation. Any suggestions? I am using a owrk around of saving all the tabs as a bookmark folder and closing other tabs then open all booksmarks as tabs but it is just so frakking annoying. Help please

    I use FireFox as well and tried going to forums and clicking on Topic . No problem.
    Steps to get to this topic in Sea Monkey, in email announcement I click on link to get to this topic, step 2 click link in this topic and go to it.
    It was a lot more in steps in FireFox, than going through SeaMonkey . For SeaMonkey Click on link shown in my email announcement to get to this topic. 2 seconds or less. click on the link above agan 2 seconds or less and I am there.
    In FireFox, open FireFox step 1 go to adobe forums, step 2: go to section General, step 3: choose and select forum comments, step 4: locate this topic, step 5: click on link in this thread. Saves time doesn't it. Huh?

  • How do I stop the box "This web page is being redirected to a new location. Would you like to resend the form data you have typed to the new location?

    I have cleared my cookies and cache and disabled some add ons, but when in Facebook and specifically for Farmville, I keep getting the pop up box, "This web page is being redirected to a new location. Would you like to resend the form data you have typed to the new location?" I have closed and opened the browser, too and it still keeps coming up.... Please help!!! Thanks.

    You can't avoid that if the website is coded that way and data needs to be send from one server to another server.

    how do I turn off this notification. I build web stores and this pops up when I access my store now. The stores have a redirect with masking through godaddy.com to hide the source of the store. I have reset fire fox, turned off most of the settings and still having issues. most of the forms on line are outdated.
    Thanks

    There is a way to turn off the warning for a 307 "temporary" redirect. However, bear in mind that customers will still see it, so you may want to reconsider the design for business reasons.
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box that appears above the list, type or paste '''redi''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) Double-click '''network.http.prompt-temp-redirect''' to switch its value from true (the default) to false.

  • Safari freezes when i try to open a link off of my facebook page.

    Hi everybody, I just recently had a little brother do a facebook quiz "spongebob" quiz on my laptop without my knowledge. After this being posted on my profile, every time i try to click on a facebook link off my page, it freezes safari and i have to force quit the application. Safri works fine as long as i don't go on my facebook page and click on a link, is there some kind of spy ware/virus on safari? any help is much appreciated. Thanks, Mike

    HI Mike and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
    Try maintenance.
    From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
    from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
    There are no Mac viruses in the wild and I doubt it's malware. Try emptying the cache and reset Safari and see if that helps. Often times, just restarting your Mac can help.
