Safari is frozen with 1newsalert.report ransomware pop up. Help!
Can anyone help? This virus isn't behaving like the FBI one. The typical fixes are NOT working. Seems this is a new one. I'm on MacBook Pro, OS X 10.9.5.
I tried:
Force quit Safari
Restart with shift key pressed (everything remains grayed out in Safari menu)
Restart with shift key pressed and offline (same thing, everything grayed out)
Command W, enter does nothing.
Here's the pop up below. Anyone have a fix?
This is a scam.
Force Quit .
Press command + option + esc keys together at the same time. Wait.
When Force Quit window appears, select Safari if not already.
Press Force Quit button at the bottom of the window. Wait.
Safari will quit.
Relaunch Safari holding the shift key down.
Turn off Wifi. Click Wifi icon in the menu bar and select “Turn Wifi off”.
Visit another website.
You won’t have internet connection.
Turn on Wifi. Click Wifi icon in the menu bar and select “Turn Wifi on”.
Select your Network.

Safari keeps freezing with spinning disc. Can you help
I've been having this problem somewhat recently myself. Not a constant thing, but I've had blue & multi coloured wheels at a PC like level.

Safari seems frozen with a bogus website. I have a screenshot of what it looks like.
Can't do anything. Not sure if its a virus or what to do. Any suggestions?
That didnt seem to work. Here is a screenshot of an additional safari window that opened when I re-opened safari with the shift key.

When opening Safari, screen freezes with word "Connecting"... Help!
WiFi connection is excellent. When I try to open Safari to browse, screen goes to a gray color and word "Connecting" appears while the little icon that symbolizes the wait for an operation to be completed just spins and spins. It would go all day trying to connect if the battery would let it... Ever heard of this problem? Thanks so much!
Have you tried the standard reset?
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the
Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. -
Safari on Mac frozen with VIRUS FOUND popup
I was on Safari on Mac and entered a website "invipsuite.com" in the URL window and suddenly my Safari froze with a popup "Virus found - The last website you visited has infected your Mac with a virus. Press OK to begin the repair process" and there is just one button OK. The popup lists the website macupdate.com-apple.menu" and this is the URL I now find in teh URL window.
I did not click on the OK button, but my Safari is frozen with this pop on it.
Please HELP!For yourself and Mike, there's no adware to be found because it isn't adware. Nor was anything downloaded or installed on your Mac in any way. As the articles explained, it's nothing more than a browser trick that keeps you from moving off the page once there.
There isn't even the slightest thing to be concerned about. Unless, that is, you actually called the number displayed and gave them your credit card number, or live remote access to your Mac.
Why Apple hasn't released a fix for these JavaScript loops yet seems strange to me. They certainly know about it, and users who believe these garbage pages, call the phone numbers and/or install the remote access software they convince you to install are getting fleeced daily. -
Safari Browser issue on Mac with crystal report viewer JSP
Safari Browser issue with crystal report viewer JSP
This is my configuration:
Operating System : Mac X
Browser : Safari Browser 3.1.4
Crystal Report : XII Release 2
Application Server : Jboss 4.2.0
I am using the following code to view the crystal report in jsp.
<%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.report.web.viewer.*" %>
<%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.application.ReportClientDocument" %>
<%@ page import="com.crystaldecisions.sdk.occa.report.reportsource.IReportSource" %>
CrystalReportViewer theViewer = null;
ReportClientDocument document = null;
IReportSource reportSource = null;
theViewer = new CrystalReportViewer();
reportSource = document.getReportSource();
reportSource.refresh();
theViewer.setReportSource(reportSource);
theViewer.setOwnPage(true);
theViewer.setHasExportButton(true);
theViewer.setHasPrintButton(true);
theViewer.setHasRefreshButton(true);
theViewer.setHasLogo(false);
theViewer.setEnableParameterPrompt(true);
theViewer.refresh();
theViewer.processHttpRequest(request, response, getServletConfig().getServletContext(), null);
theViewer.dispose();This code is working fine when the browser is IE or Firefox on Mac X.
But it is giving me error message when the browser is Safari on Mac X.
If there is no parameter in the report then the error message is:
Null Totaller
If there is parameter in the report then the error message is:
Parameter prompting is not supported
Please Help.
Thanks

Error when startup WPF Application with Crystal Report !
Hi!
I have an error when build & run a WPF Application with Crystal Report. Can anyone help me ?
First, I created 2 project, one is the WPF Application & one is Shell Start Up project (to show loading screen, then show main window when loaded, is WPF Application too)
WPF Application:
/// <summary>
/// Interaction logic for MainWindow.xaml
/// </summary>
public partial class MainWindow : Window {
public MainWindow() {
InitializeComponent();
// crViewer is SAPBusinessObjects.WPF.Viewer.CrystalReportsViewer
crViewer.ViewerCore.ReportSource = new CrystalReport1(); // Assign report to viewer
Shell Startup:
[STAThread]
public static void Main(string[] args) {
AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException += new UnhandledExceptionEventHandler(CurrentDomain_UnhandledException);
Application app = new Application();
ShowLoadingWindow(); // Show loading screen
MainWindow mw = new MainWindow();
mw.Show();
app.Run();
static void CurrentDomain_UnhandledException(object sender, UnhandledExceptionEventArgs e) {
// Exception was throw here
And here is the exception & it's stack trace
Message: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Stacktrace:

at System.Threading.QueueUserWorkItemCallback.System.Threading.IThreadPoolWorkItem.ExecuteWorkItem()
at System.Threading.ThreadPoolWorkQueue.Dispatch()
at System.Threading._ThreadPoolWaitCallback.PerformWaitCallback()As far as I know the error is typically due to the fact that I'm trying to address an object that has not been set. E.g.; this could be due to bad scoping, bad inits/constructs, trying to access a member of a class without instance object and so on. I suspect this is a design \ code issue. You might be able to confirm this using [Process Monitor|http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx].
Other than that, I'd recommend creating a phone case here:

With TSM adware removal tool I was able to remove unknown software that was making ads pop up when using Safari. So the y don't pop up anymore. The problem now is that when I open safari It is still downloading websites and after awhile it freezes the browser. I have to constantly go to Safari Preferences to remove them and then the browser will start working again. What can I do to stop this?
1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
Don't be put off merely by the seeming complexity of these instructions. The process is much less complicated than the description. You do harder tasks with the computer all the time.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the behest of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed:
☞ Copy a line of text in this window to the Clipboard.
☞ Paste into the window of another application.
☞ Wait for the test to run. It usually takes a few minutes.
☞ Paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page.
The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. You don't need to copy a second time. Details follow.
4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode, under the conditions in which the problem is reproduced. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. If you try to select the line by dragging across the part you can see, you won't get all of it.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "Syntax error" or "Event not found," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with the words "Start Time." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.

Here is a screen shot.
Despite what others have said, you probably don't have adware. This is just a scam designed to get you to pay money and give them access to your computer, neither of which is necessary to solve this.
Courtesy of stevejobsfan0123:
Occasionally, a browser window may pop up with a scam message. Common pop-ups include a message saying the government has seized your computer and you must pay to have it released (often called "Moneypak"), or a phony message saying that your computer has been infected, and you need to call a tech support number (sometimes claiming to be Apple) to get it resolved. First, understand that these pop-ups are not caused by a virus, and your computer has not been affected. This "hijack" is limited to your web browser. Also understand that these messages are scams, so do not pay any money, call the listed number, or provide any personal information. Most of these scammers, if you actually call the number, will ask you to install software giving them remote control over your computer. Do not do this either. This article will outline the solution to dismiss the pop-up.
Quit Safari
Though you will probably have to quit Safari, you can first try closing the tab by pressing Command + W. Sometimes, however, these pop-ups will not go away by attempting to close the tab, nor by clicking "OK" or "Cancel." Furthermore, several menus in the menu bar may become disabled and show in gray, including the option to quit Safari. You will likely have to force quit Safari. To do this, press Command + option + esc, select Safari, and press Force Quit.
Relaunch Safari
If you relaunch Safari, the page will reopen. To prevent this from happening, hold down the 'Shift' key while opening Safari. This will prevent windows from the last time Safari was running from reopening.
This will not work in all cases. The shift key must be held at the right time, and in some cases, even if done correctly, the window reappears. In these circumstances, after force quitting Safari, turn off Wi-Fi or disconnect Ethernet, depending on how you connect to the Internet. Then relaunch Safari normally. It will try to reload the malicious webpage, but without a connection, it won't be able to. Navigate away from that page by entering a different URL, i.e. www.apple.com, and trying to load it. Now you can reconnect to the Internet, and the page you entered will appear rather than the malicious one.
None of this Worked!
If pressing Command + W does not work, and force quitting Safari and restarting the application with the Shift key held down does not get rid of the pop-up you will have to reset Safari. Normally, this can be done by launching Safari, then in the menu bar, going to Safari > Reset Safari. However, most pop-ups of this variety will block access to many of the drop-down menus in the menu bar. You will need to locate a file on the computer and move it to the trash. Make sure you quit Safari first (force quit if necessary).
To start, open Finder. The press Command + Shift + G, or in the menu bar, select Go > Go to Folder. Type the following file path:
~/Library/Preferences
Look for a file named com.apple.Safari.plist, and drag it to the trash. Then restart your Mac. After it reboots, try launching Safari. A new preferences file should have been automatically created, so no more action is required on your part, and the pop-up should now be gone.

Was reading book on iPad
Pop up asked if I wanted to upgrade- probably stupidly I agreed- now iPad screen is frozen with ITunes symbol and image of charger cord on screen- tried turning it off - no help.Carolyn explained how to reset the iPad. You don't need a tool or clip to do this...just your fingers.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
I do not think that is going to work, but try it.
You are getting the connect to iTunes message and that usually means that your iPad needs to be restored. -
We just did the iPhone update ios 6. The screen is frozen with the iTunes logo and a picture of a USB cale across the screen. none of the buttons respond.The phone does not recognize the apple USB when connected. We tried holding all the buttons down at the same time and also removed the SIM card and reinserted.
If it's not being recognized while it's in recovery mode in your itunes, try this
plug the phone into the usb attached to the computer
hold down the home and sleep/wake button on top simultaneously until the phone's screen goes black
When the screen goes black, release your finger from the sleep/week button on top but continue holding the home button until you see a dialog on the itunes screen on your computer that says 'itunes has detected a device in recovery mode'
then say 'ok,' select 'restore,' and say 'restore and update' -
