Safari isn't saving Username or Password?

Even though enabled this ipad will not save usernames or passwords for any site.
Any ideas please?

You must turn off Private Browsing.
Tap "Private" on Safari Screen to disable Private Browsing. When top of screen is white, Private Browsing is off.

  • How can I copy my saved usernames and passwords?

I would like to be able to copy a list of saved usernames and passwords from the security section of options, to another folder on my computer. Is there a way to do this? Or is there a way to print out this list?

  • IPad Safari Browser isn't saving my router password

Hi guys, as title says, gets rather annoying. When the username and password field pops up when i go to 192.168.1.1 I input my username and password but it doesn't ask me to save it etc.
Is there any way to get my iPad and also iPhone to remember this?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi and thanks for your reply
I did think that however on my mac Safari and Chrome have both saved the password for the router.
Also, I use Vuze to download torrents, using Vuze remote to control it from my iPad/iPhone. I have to input a password to get to use Vuze remote (the same password screen that comes up when I have to enter a password for my router), this password doesn't save either.
However all other passwords save fine such as forum passwords, Facebook etc through Safari browser on my iPhone/iPad.

  • I changed the code for saving usernames and passwords, it didn't work, so I restored a backup of the code I had made, now usernames and passwords don't work at all. Help?

I found a method online to force firefox to save usernames and passwords which the site itself requested not to be saved. I made a backup of the file on my hard drive, moved it to the desktop, changed the code and tried it. It didn't work as expected so, I deleted that file, returned the original file to it's appropriate place and restarted firefox. Now it won't save ANY passwords or user names, even on sites it previously did so. I've tried reinstalling over the existing copy, and would REALLY prefer not to uninstall/reinstall since I have a ton of bookmarks, addons etc, which I don't want to have to restore. Has anyone encountered this issue? or have a suggestion on how to fix it?

Do you still see names and passwords in the Password Manager?
Tools > Options > Security: Passwords: "Saved Passwords" > "Show Passwords"
You can still reinstall Firefox. Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] and won't be affected.

  • Saving Usernames and Passwords

How does one save usernames and passwords to autofill? Presently only one of my bookmarked sites does is and I have no idea how I saved them to autofill, on my 3gs

If the phone recognizes the form fields as username and password fields, it will ask if you want to save after you submit to log in. You may of already said no in past to some of those sites or they are not coded with info that the browser can pick up as log in fields.

  • Not saving username or password

Firefox does not offer to save username and passwords. No drop-down box appears. I have to manually type in username/passwords. I've followed the advice from your website and others without success.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

The fix at: https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/forum/1/723378#threadId723379 doesn't work. My OS is XP not Win 7.
It used to work fine, but has stopped for no apparent reason.

  • Safari isn't saving a specific Username/Password

OK, this one has stumped me... I am a member of a few site/forums, and for some reason one of them that I go to regularly stopped saving the username/password.. Its not the site, because on my other computers it is saved - so its not that its being blocked (and I am checking the 'Save password' box).. Its just from my MBP. And its only that one site.. It'll stay in place if I close the window, but once I exit out of Safari, I need to re-enter it. My UN/PW info saves here at MacRumors without any problem, as it does for any other forum I go to.
I tried File > Empty Cache and File > Reset Safari, but no luck - still won't save for that one site..
I also tried checking/resetting the Safari Preferences> AutoFill settings, no luck.. Even went as far as to check keychain - there was nothing saved specifically for this site, but I still cleared out any internet passwords. No luck.
Is there anything else I can clear out? (I have OnyX, ran through the cleaners there and it didn't help either)...
    Ideas?

Thanks for the response, but no luck:
In your Application>Utility folder, open Keychain.app. In the spotlight panel, enter the name of the web site. Highlight it, then Edit menu>delete.
-> Typed in the name of the site, doesn't come up.
Next, go to the Keychain Menu>Keychain First Aid. After entering your password, select "repair". If any errors appear, rerun until you get a clean pass.
-> Still went ahead and did this. Did find an error with my mail keychains - and fixed it.
    Restart Safari.
    ->Done
Go to your Safari Menu>Preferences>Security>Cookies. Remove any cookies relative to that particular web site.
-> Did this too, There were a few from the site.
Enter the URL and complete the UN/PW etc. You ought to see a prompt panel asking you to save the password.
-> Didnt' ask me to save UN/PW
Next, quit/restart Safari. Try the web site again. Did the PW etc. stick?
    -> Nope.
    i'm still stumped!

  • Safari won't remember usernames or passwords

I recently upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. Now Safari will not save any passwords or usernames.

  • Safari is clearing saved usernames on websites

On my iPad, when I close the Safari app, it logs me out of websites that I was logged into.  This doesn't happen on my iPhone.  Any ideas why this is happening and how I can change it?

If you are not using Private browsing, it may be that you are not saving any cookies: Settings App > Safari > Block Cookies should be set to something other than "Never".

  • Firefox's option bar for saving username and passwords will not show, I have it set to remember passwords for sites. Can sites be added manually?

I was using Norton to remember my user names and passwords, however I do not use Norton any longer. Firefox does not give me the option of saving passwords even though I have it set to remember them.
There are no sites in the exceptions list. How can I reset Firefox so the option bar shows?

    * Make sure that you not run Firefox in (permanent) [[Private Browsing]] mode
    * In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and features like visited links are disabled and not showing
    * You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing", possibly grayed
    * You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
    * To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting <b>Firefox will: Use custom settings for history</b>
    * Uncheck: [ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

  • All of a sudden it seems firefox has forgotten where it is all the time. All my bookmarks and rss feeds are gone and a lot of times it forgets my saved usernames and passwords. The back button has ceased functioning as well.

It just started out of the blue, its like it just forgot everything I've done since I downloaded it years ago. Plus the back button doesn't work anymore. It's like it has constant amnesia.

Sounds that some SQLite database files are corrupted.
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

Do you mean names and passwords in the Password Manager or do you mean that you are no longer logged on to (remembered by) websites after closing and restarting Firefox?
There is a difference between remembering the name and password in the Password Manager and a "remember me" check box on a web page to log you in automatically.<br />
The latter usually involves the creation of a special "remember me" cookie that is stored on your computer and that is send to the server.<br />
If that "remember me" cookie is removed or gets corrupted or is not send to the server then the server won't remember you anymore and you need to sign in once again.<br />

  • My saved usernames and passwords have dissapeared

when opening a web page and signing in firefox automatically signs me in. now it has stopped doing this and I seem to have lost all the information on log in details

    * Websites remembering you and automatically log you in is stored in a cookie.
    * You need an allow cookie exception (Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: Exceptions) to keep that cookie, especially for secure websites and if you let cookies expire when Firefox closes
    * Make sure that you do not use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the "Cookies" and the "Site Preferences"
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and password exceptions.
