Safari javascript error

I recently bought a Seagate Goflex Satellite hard disk.  It is unable to stream the iTunes movies in iPad 2.  it will launch the Safari browser, then load the file instead of stream then hang.  When I enabled the debug console, it shows that whenever I launch the go flex program, javascript errors were generated.  I don't have this problem when I use the Goflex satellite with the old iPad or even iphone.  The movie plays seamlessly.  Any advise?

Hi,
This has already been mentioned in this thread:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=244604
This error is due to a JavaScript problem on the Amazon.com pages. The Java update and JavaScript are two different things.

  • Javascript errors in updated Safari

    I updated Safari and now I constantly get the message - Javascript Error unsupported browser, especially when I use gmail and Outlook webmail. I even got it trying to log into this support site.  The message comes up about 3 or 4 times and then eventually disappears. So frustrating.  I didn't have any of these problems in the old version plus I could empty cache easily.  Any suggestions.

  • Ipad 2 safari showing javascript error in line 1 while surfing any yahoo site

    I am not able to surf any yahoo website on my ipad2. There is javascript error in line 1. Also showing unsafe attempt frame.....yahoo.com

    I use yahoo sites, but Safari doesn't support Java, so you'll aways have the error.  I'm not sure if there are other browsers out there that handle it better or if it doesn't run on the iPad at all.

  • JavaScript errors in Safari

    When I go to www.metoffice.gov.uk I get several JavaScript errors starting with Exception 22. The weather map doesn't display. On another iPad it works fine. All software is fully up to date and JavaScript is set to ON.
    Can anyone help please?

    Hi Jonathan
    Thanks for the reply, but it doesn't really help. The key part of my question was why it would work on one ipad and not on another. This means (to my systems engineering brain anyway) that there is some setting in my ipad which is causing the Exception 22. This exception is accompanied by a message about the Quota (whatever that is) being exceeded. It would appear to me that somehow some special area in the memory of my ipad has been exceeded. But since my ipad has the maximum memory, as does the other one, I can't think what it might be. I don't know what part of the ipad the Exception 22 relates to.

  • "getting a javascript error while validating a JSP"

    Hi folks,
    Someone help me out with this problem.
    I am getting a javascript validation error when I am trying to validate a JSP.
    if(eval("document.frmAdminSowAssignValues.chkSowEmployee"+i).checked)
    If I try to load a JSP page on a browser, it is giving a javascript error as
    "'checked' is null or not a object".
    Thanks.

  • IOS 5 Safari JavaScript execution exceeded timeout

    I am working on a mobile web app that is primarily self-contained and communicated with the server only when necessary. Currently, the libraries being used are:
    - jQuery 1.6.4
    - jQuery UI 1.8.3
    - Modified/patched version of jQTouch
    Up until the release of iOS 5 we were also using touchscroll.js but it is no longer needed since Safari now supports position: fixed and native scrolling.
    Since the release of iOS 5, seemingly at random, this exception is raised:
        JavaScript: Error undefined JavaScript execution exceeded timeout
    Once it is raised, no JS code that runs for more than a *very* short period of time (say 1ms) will be executed by Safari. Refreshing the page, going to a new page, or going to a new domain has no effect. Any and all JS code, even something as simple as
        for(var i = 0; i < 30; i++) ;
    will not be executed by the browser without the exception being raised. The only way around this is to force kill Safari and restart it. I suppose it is also possible to wrap any remotely "heavy duty" code in the application in a window.setTimeout(..., 1) or take advantage of Web Workers for everything but UI updates but that doesn't seem like a very good solution as the application is fairly large and it would require a substantial rewrite.
    Has anyone encountered this issue before? How would you go about debugging something like this as it isn't any single piece of code that seems to put Safari into this broken state and it can happen seemingly at random?
    I tried to figure out what the timeout of the JS engine is in mobile Safari by doing the following:
        var start, end;
        start = new Date();
        try {
           while(true);
        } catch (ex) {
          alert('test');
        end = new Date();
        console.log(Number(end) - Number(start) + 'ms');
    Unfortunately it seems this timeout exception isn't a JS exception so it cannot be caught in a try/catch block; however, it appears the max timeout period is in the realm of several seconds. None of the code in our app locks the browser/JS engine for that long (as it would provide a terrible UX) and most if not all of it probably has a sub 300ms execution time (including anything that's "heavy duty").

    Sometimes even simple DOM queries in jQuery like $('.foo') would trigger this behavior.
    There is nothing simple about jQuery. I'm pretty confident I could create a page where such a selector would bring any desktop browser to its knees.
    Moreover, this issue did not exist in iOS 4 and only manifested itself in iOS 5 and IIRC only occured on iPad 2 devices and not the original iPad.
    I highly doubt that.
    So call it what you will. I'll call it a bug.
    What I'll do is put on my overalls, grab my cane, and tell you how it was in my day.
    Back in my day, every operating system had bugs. Every application running on them had bugs. You know what we did? Blame the vendor? Yep. Filed a bug report? Sure. Sit on our hands? Never! You know what we did? We "worked around it". There was no internet where someone would post just the lines of code we needed. There were no example apps. There was no open source. Somehow, we still got it working.
    Just suppose, for the sake of argument, that you are absolutely correct. This is a bug the Apple introduced in iOS 5 and it breaks your app. Will Apple release a fix for it next month? Unlikely. Next quarter? Maybe, maybe not. 2015? My oldest Apple bug report is dated "04-Apr-2008 06:39 PM".
    It is an imperfect, competitive world. If you don't want to work around the bugs, all that does is give that opportunity to someone else.

  • Aperture Help gives Javascript error

    I just tried to open "Help" in Aperture and got this message:
    "The Help Library requires JavaScript. If JavaScript is not enabled, you will not be able to view all the content."
    How do I enable JavaSript?
    Thanks

    I have also been having Javascript issues since 10.6.5 but only on my MBP. My MBA and iMac seem fine. My problem manifests itself on various websites where javascript actions on buttons just don't happen. I have been on the same sites on my MBA and iMac and these same buttons are working OK. Every time I repair permissions, there are screeds of java and javascript errors and repairs. If I then do a restart, javascript works for a short period of a minute or so and then stops. I get the same issue on Safari and Firefox. Java and javascript are turned on at both browsers. I had no javascript issues prior to 10.6.5.
    I just know if I phone up Applecare, I will get the same old fatuous and lazy answer: "Have you done a clean re-install and if not, we suggest you do." Yea right, with the amount of apps I have, that will only take me 2+ days! Back in the good old days, Applecare folks knew what they were talking about and were not just reading off a list.

  • JavaScript Error Unsupported browser!

    Since the Safri update a few days ago, a handful of webpages produce a "javaScript error Unsupported browser!" error message.  The message appears 4 seperate times with the option to hit OK.  The message has appeared on YouTube as well as on this Support page.
    I have run a Software update severla times since the upgrade (as well as after my Mountain Lion uprage).  This has not addressed the problem.

  • JavaScript error in IE8 with shared iPhoto Journals

    I like iPhoto for iOS a lot: soo easy to build and design photo journals.
    BUT: when I publish iPhoto Journals in iCloud and share the link to with others, they tell me they cannot see anything else than the headline and the background pattern... no pictures.
    In Safari on iOS devices I have no issues to see the Journal. Same for Windows PCs with Google Chrome browser.
    But when I use Internet Explorer 8 browser, the Journal stops loading after the background image is shown.
    And the small javascript error indicator tells that IE8 stopped loading/rendering due to JavaScript issues within the JS-code of the page.
    As I have no influence on JavaScript of the shared Journals, I would urgently like Apple to test and fix the issue.
    Also in iOS Safari with enabled Debug Console the JavaScript errors are specified...
    Thank you
    Dirk

    You are talking to other users here and not Apple. If you haven't already done so I would report this problem directly to Apple using the iPhoto for iOS feedback page here:

  • JavaScript Error on Line 35

    For some reason my iphone Safari will not navigate to certain pages that it previously did. Tonight I turned on the debug console and when I try to navigate to those pages it tells me that I have a JavaScript Error on Line 35.
    How can I fix this error so that I can navigate to these pages? Is there a way to restore the Safari settings?

    So, something has changed and I'm just looking for the best way to repair the browser. Any one have any ideas?
    It's more likely that something has changed on the server you are connecting to rather than something in the Safari browser, and unless it is your own website you won't be able to fix it yourself.
    Try clearing the Safari browser caches and cookies though. The JavaScript error may be unrelated.
