Safari keeps losing some of my tabs?

I usually have several tabs open in Safari. Sometimes when I reopen safari, it only opens 1 or 2 of my tabs, and then I have to dig through my history to find the other pages. This is at least the 3rd time this has happened and I'm getting sick of it. Is there a reason why this is happening? Would exiting instead of just clicking the red X fix the problem?

OK, I got it to work again - but not sure what did it ...
First I did the software update to Safari 6.0 [the one with the ugly broad Tabs :-( ]. However, I don't thnk it was this, as opening it I lost again 6 Tabs (one gets empty Tabs, just their title is left).
So I looked for more advanced cleanup and came across one posting

There are quite a few things to do (empty the cache {in Safari 6.0 you need to switch on the 'Develop' menue to do so}, Reset Safari {as to Carolyn take the top five}, then checked plugins/input managers {don't have many of them, but tried to reload all the ones I could figure out how to get updates, and deleted the remainder - including one Adobe file needed for a old version of Flash which, as to others, was obsolete and may even slow Safari}, all accoprding to the http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1594 link.
Then deleted the Cookies.plist file, the Cache.db file, the preference files, ...
{com.apple.Safari.plist, com.apple.Safari.SafeBrowsing.binarycookies, Cookies.binarycookies, History.plist, http_www.ebay.de_0.localstorage {there might be more like this}, LastSession.plist, LocationPermissions.plist, WebpageIcons.db},
then restarted my Mac. Restarted again, then started Safari (you'll end up on the Apple site as if it"s the first time running). Collected my windows and Tabs - and finally quit and relaunched, then Reopened all Windows from Last Session - what a surprise, the Tabs were all filled!!!
So happy now ...

When an app is downloaded to your phone what is downloading is an installer. Once the installer downloads in installs the app and then is deleted. You can see a reference to this if you watch the App's icon in the App Store after you tap on download. It will first say downloading then that will change to installing. I have a few thoughts that you may consider:
First - How many Contact Groups do you have? Go to Contacts - Look at the top of your screen. Does it say 'All Contacts'? If you have more than one Contact Group, you'll see an option button in the upper left corner that says Groups. This means that you have more than one - press the Groups button - the screen scrolls & you'll see all the Contact Groups you have. To see contacts for a specific group, press that option - or press All Contacts to view all that are stored on your phone/email/iCloud, etc.
Second - If you don't have a computer to host your iTunes account, it sounds like you need to be sure you've activated iCloud, and that "Contacts" is turned "ON" - Go to "Settings" - "iCloud" - "Contacts". It'll walk you through the basic set up, and you can choose which information you wish to have backup to iCloud - contacts, mail, calendars, apps, photos, etc. You get 5.0GB free; and the option to purchase additional space if needed.
I hope this is helpful to you. I know transitioning can be painful and confusing.

If you can't connect to home wi fi, or any wi fi, go into the RESET area of your SETTINGS and choose RESET NETWORK CONNECTIONS. Turn the phone off and back on and you should be okay. It may take more than one try. Good luck.

I keep losing my history and tabs when I close. I don't have any boxes checked in the privacy section to do so. My tabs also don't show the icons.

I keep losing my tabs and history and I have it set in FF to save my history. It doesn't happen all the time just randomly but still annoying. I read all the help and everything that they said to check was fine. I also don't get the icons on every tab like I used to. some have it some don't. I have a tab up for Yahoo and it used to show the Y and now just an empty box. but Facebook shows the F.
I can live without the tab icons but it is really annoying when I lose all my history and tabs.

Safari keeps loading some pages

I have a 23 inch cinema display, everytime i opened safari the letters were too small so i had to zoom in a couple of times, so i changed the style sheet ( advanced pref) in zoom 145%
now this solved the problem of zooming every couple of minutes, but it created a whole different problem
Some pages keeps loading all the time, and i can see the status bar starting to go from the right towards left . I can see in the activity monitor that safari is pushing 100%. Also the facebook, twitter icon, keeps loading. I have to keep pressing "stop" in safari for 3-4 seconds in order to make the webpage stop.
also in webpages where there is a dialog box, " upload picture" lets say, the dialog box appears half down below the screen, and sometimes scrolling doesn't even work, the dialog box or picture doesn't appear.
Any idea how can i fix this?

The "letters" and "zoom" ... might be a font issue. Try troubleshooting duplicate or corrupted fonts.

Guide keeps losing some favorites

Over the past two days my favorites list has lost ESPN channels, some of my prime movie channels and a few other channels, not once but everytime I turn off the TV for awhile. What's causing this?

I had this issue quite a while back with a Motorola QIP2500-3 SD STB. I would spend forever setting up my favorites only to have them changed a few hours/days later. Certain channels seemed to keep getting dropped more than others. Other channels seemed to keep getting added. I went several rounds with tech support until they finally found a solution. I believe they called it a factory reset (name could be wrong) and told me that it was the most they could do without replacing my box. It was a reset that wipes out all your settings and re-installs the software/firmware. So you have to reset EVERYTHING the way you had it before, but I haven't had the same problem again.

I am using Safari 7 on my 13in Aluminium MacBook (late 2008) running OS10.9. I add icons to the toolbar and add a homepage - but thesekeep disappearing

For the webpageicons ...
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Safari/WebpageIcons.db
Click Go then move the WebpageIcons.db file to the Trash.
Now type or copy and paste the following:
~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.Safari.plist file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari.

Safari Keeps Losing all my Cookies

It seems that when I log out (maybe not, could be totally random) I lose all my Safari cookies. This is starting to get on my nerves, and seems to have started after installing 10.5.1. Has anybody else experienced this and have a fix?

Either you are or you aren't. Which is it? What's giving you that idea? What do you have set under Safari->Preferences->Security->Cookies?

This has been happening for a few months now, cannot remember after which "upgrade". Extremely annoying.
I don't want the Apple page to be my startup page, I do not want the default settings.
I have mentioned the problem to Apple a few times as bug report but nothing has happened. Reading the other posts on this subject it seems there is no cure. Other people are worse off as they have many crashes as well. Safari rarely crashes on me - only sometimes when there are movies/flv files involved.
So I am moving to Firefox (reluctantly) until there is a fix.

That's not going to help you at all. There is no fix because there is no bug to fix here.
Why don't you just delete your Safari preferences, then restart Safari and recreate your preference settings? That would ensure you don't have a corrupted preferences file, which is what causes this.

Safari keeps losing Internet connection.

MBPr, 10.8.2, all other devices on the wifi network run fine, other software on MBP are actively connected to the net and wifi connection still showing as connected..it is just safari.
Reconnecting to network shows no love, have to restart computer to get working safari for less than ten minutes then same problem comes back.
Any help or similar problems appreciated.
Oh this has only started since I upgraded to 10.8.2....

I just tried resetting safari, this allowed me to successfully load one page, and then it went back to being unable to load again..

Try troubleshooting extensions and third party plugins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

How do I keep Safari stable with 40-60 windows/tabs/sites open all at once?

I have an iMac 2.66 GHz Intel Core i5 with 4 GB RAM running 10.6.4. One internal drive of 1TB half full and good external FW with plenty of room.
Recently, I have been needing to keep 60+ windows open (or tabs) in Safari. It's a long story… This has proven to be unstable and the browser locks up unpredictably.
Would adding more RAM help me keep MORE browser windows open and have better browser stability?
Firefox is OK but seems to have the same limits on number of windows. Actually, maybe less.
The web sites are a mix. Regular HTML, with Flash, PHP, the whole mix. Some sites require activity after X amount of time. The most unstable sites seem to be state and government sites. They are just not made for Mac or just stink.
Interestingly, by using Spaces - keeping about half the windows in one space and half the other (yes, it can be done!) Safari seems to last about 50% longer before becoming unstable. But I could be wrong or just lucky since using Spaces a week or so ago.
BTW: there is an extension called Auto Refresh for Safari that automatically refreshes pages. But I have not tried it yet. Not that it would solve this problem.

What about using multiple browsers simultaneously? IOW, instead of all 60 tabs in one program, open 30 in Safari and 30 in Firefox, for example. The one app may not have enough internal resources to handle that many tabs. So split them between different apps.
Me personally, some websites I only open in specific web browsers. For example, I open the Apple forums in Safari, but I open the VMware forums in Firefox. Each forum, I'll have multiple tabs open. (Not 60, but sometimes 15-20 tabs.) Although both are using Jive forum software, VMware's implementation has issues with Safari. Later, I found it was advantageous because now my "sites" were "organized" and viewing all the tabs related to one site was as simple as clicking on the Safari or Firefox icons in the Dock. And I do use Spaces, although not for organizing sites. For example, all the browsers go to Space 1, and Mail/iCal/Addressbook are in Space 4, so that I can leave multiple Mail messages open without cluttering the "web desktop". (Space 4 is pseudo-Outlook space.) So web apps to organize different websites, and Spaces to organize apps or tasks.
YMMV, of course. Just a thought.

Do a backup.
Quit the application.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart the computer, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

Thank you for the advice, John Blanchard1 and Linc Davis
As suggested in your reference thread I removed "/Library/Printers/hp/PDEs/hpPostScriptPDE.plugin" and the problem has been resolved.
I am guessing the the plug-in for the hp printers got corrupted and effected every thing, or became unsuitable when I installed an Apple update. I would be most grateful if you can confirm how the problem was coursed so I can understand and learn from this experiance.
