Safari keeps opening tabs from last session and Bookmarks and favorites. help?

I recently reset my macbook due to Adware on it. Everything was working fine until yesterday.
I would open safari up and all the tabs from the previous session were open, not only that even the tabs from the session before the previous were open as well. sometimes the pages won't even load??? Ive looked through some of the tabs and a lot of them are my favorites and bookmarks. Im a college student and I depend on my computer a lot please help me. Im really frustrated I can't use the internet. HELP?

What are your settings here?  If you have them set to Open with Favorites instead of Empty Page, that means Safari is loading all of your Favorites every time you open a new window or a new tab.
On the first option, is it set to open with "A new window" or "All windows from last session"?  That would explain one issue.

In Safari/Preferences in Safari Opens With I choose the option all tabs from last session (I've translate menus my safari was in portuguese so I don't know exactly how the options are in english).
But when I open safari, it's open only one blank tab, and don't open any tab from the last session, someone knows how can I solve this problem?
    Thanks!

  • Open tabs from last session lost - intermittently

Don't know whether it's a bug or me but tabs left open from last session are lost - intermittently - when I re enter Firefox mobile on my Samsung Galaxy s3.
I'll often leave 5 or so showing on the tab counter in the top right hand corner of the browser. Sometimes they will be there next session, but mostly they aren't!
    Any suggestions?

    HI alt-images,
Thank you for your question. When they do not show up, are you using a guest session or have you whipped the cache of the application from the mobile device's OS settings menu?
Also please check these settings on Firefox for Android: Settings > Customize >Tabs
Is "Always Restore" selected, or "Don't restore after quitting Firefox"
Please post back with the results and we can continue to troubleshoot the issue, thank you!

  • After crashing, Firefox is not re-openeing saved tabs from my last session, but is re-opening tabs from a session over a month old. How do I find my saved tabs?

After crashing, Firefox is not re-opening saved tabs from my last session, but is re-opening tabs from a session over a month old. How do I find my saved tabs?

This can be a problem with the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

  • I clicked a link in another program that opened a link in Firefox, but only that opened, not any of my 50 saved tabs from last session. What can I do?

So I clicked a link in a program that opened in Firefox. I had over 50 tabs from the course of a couple months I was saving, so "go back in your history" is not a practical option. I use the "Restore Tabs From Last Session" (or whatever the exact wording is) so I can just close and open and get all my tabs back. This time only this one link opened, nothing else did (like I remember it usually doing). How am I to restore that previous session? It's crucial for me to get all that stuff back, it drives me crazy when this happens (it's why I dropped Chrome and came here to Firefox, better memory management and less crashes).

    Restore your Previous Session
    *https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/restore-previous-session
You can try to restore a previous version of the sessionstore.js or sessionstore.bak file. You need to rename the .bak file to .js to make Firefox see that session.

  • Can't open tabs from previous session (after Firefox regularly closed)?!

Regularly closed firefox 36.0.4. and shot down computer (Windows 7 Pro 64-bit).
On next start, Firefox doesn't open tabs from previous session (altought it is configured to do this) !?!?!?
    I lost about 30 tabs!!
    Very, very frustrating!!!
Think to finish using Firefox forever!!!!!

Don't exit Firefox! Or if you already did, don't start it back up again!
''If Firefox is running:'' Open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using either
    * "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Troubleshooting Information
    * (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
    * type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
In the first table on the page, click the "Show Folder" button. This should launch a new window listed various files and folders. For best results, change the view to "Details".
(''If Firefox not running, get to this folder by pasting the following in the Run box on the start menu and pressing Enter:'' %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles ''and then double-click into the most recently updated semi-randomly-named folder you find there.'')
In the window that launches, scroll down and double-click into the '''sessionstore-backups''' folder. Save all files here to a safe location, such as your Documents folder, so Firefox doesn't overwrite them. We may be able to use them to recover your lost tabs.
Also, if you return to the main level of the profile folder, you may find some sessionstore files. Copy those to the safe location as well.
Could you report back on what you found?
Note: If Windows hides the .js file extension from you, you can change a setting so that you can see all file extensions (this helps when renaming files). This support article has the steps: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/865219 or http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/show-hide-file-name-extensions
The kinds of files you may find among your sessionstore-backup files are:
    * recovery.js: the windows and tabs in your currently live Firefox session (or, if Firefox is closed, your last session)
    * recovery.bak: a backup copy of recovery.js
    * previous.js: the windows and tabs in your last Firefox session
    * upgrade.js-''build_id'': the windows and tabs in the Firefox session that was live at the time of your last update

  • On start show windows and tabs from last session !

This is a feature of Firefox which I am missing in Safari. Or perhaps is there such a feature ?
As it is now, when I close down and restart Safari, all my previous tabs and windows are gone; actually it is possible to reopen all windows from last session (History menu) but not all tabs.

Perhaps you could try either the Sessions or SafariRestore extensions? They're down in the productivity section of the extensions gallery.

  • Tabs from last session aren't opening when I start FireFox

In options I have Show my windows and tabs from last time set for When Firefox starts. And I unchecked the warn me when closing multiple tabs option (although it was previously checked, and it wasn't warning me when it was checked).
The last few days I have had 1 window with 4 tabs open (each to a different site) when I exited Firefox. The next day when I start firefox it ends up opening 4 windows each showing about:blank. My tabs are not restored.
I have NOT cleared my history or any other information.

Who was the pop-up offer from?
Also, do you by any chance have chat utility installed called Digsby?

  • Launching with tabs from last session

I was delighted to see that Safari 5.1.1 has a General Preference
"Safari opens with: all windows from last session".
I assumed this would also open all tabs.  Is there a way to get this to happen?

Richard, try this "work around" ...
Have tabs open when you launch Safari
From Safari's Bookmarks menu select "Add Bookmark Folder." A new "untitled folder" will appear in the left-hand side, highlighted and ready to be named.
You should already have separate bookmarks for each of your six desired sites. Create them if you don't. Copy each of the desired bookmarks to the newly created folder.
Under Safari Preferences > General > "New windows open with:" select "Choose tabs folder..."
From the popup menu select the newly created folder and press Choose.

  • Safari Reopen All Windows from last session greyed out

    Hi there,
I am using Safari 7.0.6 version. I have a Macbook Pro OS X  10.9.4  I have made sure that under my Safari Preferences/General/ the Close all windows .... is UNCHECKED but I still can't get the "Reopen All Windows From Last Session" to be activated.  I can't even do it manually as it is greyed out.
    Any suggestions?

Unfortunately no, but there is a free Safari extension that offers this feature.
    Glims for Safari | www.MacHangout.com
Once Glims is installed, you can access the settings in Safari > Preferences > Extensions then select the General tab then toggle: Restore Tabs and Launch on.
    Other handy features as well.
And you can have Glims check for updates automatically.

  • Firefox not loading tabs from last session

A few days ago I set up my laptop from scratch after a long time of not using it. In the process, I set up Firefox Sync to link it to my desktop's browser. This is the only thing I have changed recently. However, after rebooting my laptop, I noticed that whenever I closed the browser and reopened it, it would not restore my previous tabs. Of course the options are set to restore my tabs from last time. Even the manual options to restore my previous session from the history menu are greyed out. And perhaps more bizarre of all, when I click the 'x' button to close the browser, I have to click it twice to close it - clicking it once does nothing. Firefox is the only application experiencing this odd issue.
I thought it was just my laptop and decided it was too much of a headache to worry about for now, since I rarely use that. I've been going about my business as usual on my desktop for the past few days with no issue...until I booted up my computer this morning and found the same situation. None of my tabs (and I had numerous tabs across multiple tab groups that I've been using with no problems for months!!), when I close and reopen the browser it still doesn't remember what was open when I closed it, and once again I have to click the close button twice for it to take. The 'restore session' options in the history menu are once again greyed out.
Everything else appears fine - all my add-ons are still there, and it's still recording my history when I open new pages and close the browser. It's just not restoring the tabs. This is extremely frustrating to me as someone who ALWAYS has several tabs open at any given time. At least on my desktop, Firefox says it's up to date, so that shouldn't be an issue (I thought maybe a browser update could fix it). Is there anything I can do to fix this, preferably recovering my previous sessions in the process? I lost quite a bit and I'm not too happy about that...but even if recovery is impossible, can I at least fix it so it retains my session history going forward? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have tried all the suggestions so far in this thread and nothing has worked. Firefox has since released version 27.0 and I notice that in this version the session and tabs are restored providing the default settings are used in the options dialogue, (Privacy, history, remember history). Use any other custom setting and the session and tabs are lost on re starting the browser. In other words, some of the options within the history dialogue box are not working.
Firefox is not warning me when I attempt to close multiple tabs, even though the option is ticked.
The search bar on the Firefox home page is not working. Type in search terms, hit enter, and it does nothing.
Opening a new window in Firefox restores the tabs in the new window, but has no effect on the search bar, which still does not function.

  • Always reopen tabs from last session?

I'm excited to see the "Reopen all windows from last session" option in the History menu. Is there a way to make Safari automatically reopen all windows from last session every time I open the program (like in Firefox)?

    Hi
No auto open to the previous windows in Safari.
The easiest path to your request would be 3rd party shareware SAFT.

  • Safari keep open page from cache, though the origin page has been available

This is weird. Safari keep opening a site with this error message:
    501 Method Not Implemented
    Method Not Implemented
    GET to /indexfr.php not supported.
But when i'm opening the site with Firefox or Opera, the website displayed correctly. Even when i'm using curl/wget from Terminal, all html codes are displayed correctly. I know that about 1 month ago, all browser displayed the same (firefox, safari, opera, curl) 501 method not implemented. But after the remote site has been recovered, Firefox can correctly display the web page, while safari can't. It seemed that safari keep displaying the cached page.
I've tried empty the cache (from menu) many times, tried to push SHIFTCOMMANDR, tried to delete cache folder (~/Library/Cache/Safari), and also i've upgraded my safari to Safari 3 beta. All didn't work.
IMHO, when the remote site responded with 501 HTTP response, safari keep caching 'the http response', and i don't know how to delete it. This is very annoying since i have to switch to Firefox to browse that only site.
FYI: The remote site has more than one IP addresses, maybe i got this response from one of them. So, is it possible that safari keep caching the IP Address? and not to use round-robin behaviour? But i don't think so, because when i edited /etc/hosts to manually assign that site to one of the IP address, Safari still displayed 501 error message.
So, my main question is, how to completely start over Safari just like if we buy a new computer?
    Sorry for my bad english
    Powerbook G4 1.3 12'   Mac OS X (10.4.10)

Ok, i've tried to put a question mark at the end of the url, but still got 501 Method not implemented.
I'm sure that my ISP doesn't cache web pages. Because when i tried with curl or wget (from command line), i got full html code. It is ok to browse the site with Firefox and Opera. And when i set my http proxy to our ISP's proxy, i can browse that site !!!
Here i provide some screenshots, please click:
    Firefox OK, Safari Don't
Safari Don't ok. Proxy off. and my ISP doesn't do transparent caching.
Safari Don't ok. curl is fine!

  • Opening tabs from last time opens home pages until I load them, which opens the correct tab

When I open Firefox, and I have multiple tabs opened from last time, and also have "do not load tabs until selected" checked, my home pages load in the place of 'unloaded' tabs from last time, but, when I click them, they load the appropriate tab that I had open last time.
It's a strange glitch that happens every single time, and I request a SOLUTION, not an alternate setting or workaround. I don't want to load up 10+ tabs (having "do not load tabs until selected" unchecked) every time I open Firefox, and my 4 extra homepage tabs have heavy flash material, so I'd not want them loading on startup either.
    Thanks.

    Try to "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
Also make sure that you do not use "Clear history when Firefox closes" to clear the the Cache (Firefox will disable the disk cache in this case, see about:cache)
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
