  • My Safari Keychain Problem Solved

    I've been reading lots of posts about problems with the use of keychains from within Safari. I found a solution to my problem that, if it's been reported somewhere else, I have seen it.
    I did two things:
    1.) I reset my password in my Safari Forms Autofill key (if that's the right term). There was a seires of unrecognizable characters where the password should be (corruption you thinK?) I moved that key into the default keychain, my username. It was previously in login.
    2.) I found lots of duplicate keys between the login keychain and the username keychain. Why keychain repair didn't repair this, I have no idea. It should. I deleted all the duplicate webform passwords. Repaired keychain and disk permissions, just for the heck of it.
    Logged out, logged back in. Problem solved.
    Hope that helps.

  • Cs4 brush lag - problem solved

    I downloaded the evaluation version of Photoshop CS4. Like many others, I found it unusable. The main problem was an enormous lag in using the brush: when painting, I had to wait for several seconds to see the result.
    I tried all suggestions: update drivers for graphics adapter, update DirectX, hacking the registry, deactivating antivirus software.... No matter what I did, with or without OpenGl drawing activated: the brush was terribly slow, unusable really...
    So I gave up and went back to CS3: works like a charm, no problem. A shame though, and regretting some nice CS4 features.
    Wanted to give it 1 more try, and this time looked at some BIOS stuff. Tried a few things with no luck UNTIL ..... enabling palette snooping. That did it: CS4 flies, no more lag..... feels even a bit faster than CS3.

    I Feel everyones pain!!!!
    After using Photoshop CS4 since it's release with virtually no issues and really enjoying the new features I started Photoshop this morning and experienced all of the issues in this thread!
    Extremely slow and lagging brushes.
    Jittery Zoom tool operation.
    Text - very slow! I could type a 5 letter word and sit back in my chair and wait for it to catch up!
    etc. etc.
    If this would have been like this when I installed I would have immediately reverted back to CS3, completely unacceptable!
    Turns out Microsoft update installed a new set of NVIDIA drivers!
    I went to the NVIDIA site and downloaded the latest drivers, installed them and now everything is good again.

  • Mediawiki, mysql, php? problems [SOLVED]

    On Sunday my Arch install that is hosted by Slicehost became unresponsive to them so they had to do an emergency reboot. After it came back up my install of mediawiki was (and still is) only returning a blank page (at least in Firefox). After some digging I found out that part of the problem was that mysqld wasn't starting so I managed to get that fixed by commenting out the lines relating to innodb and putting in skip-innodb into my.cnf. But I'm still getting a blank page.
    According to Mediawiki's manual, "A blank white page indicates a PHP error which isn't being printed to the screen." They give two lines to put into LocalSettings.php to force error messages but after doing that I'm still getting a blank page. Changing display_errors in php.ini to ON didn't have any effect.  When I load the wiki in Safari I get the following error: "Got java.io.EOFException (Server closed connection while sending the HTTP header.): http://some_url.com/mediawiki/index.php/Main_Page". I have no idea what this error means and googling java.io.EOFException doesn't bring up anything very helpful. My PHP Test Page indicates that PHP is up and running.
    Any ideas on fixes or where I can find more clues?
    [EDIT]
    Mysql was definitely the root of the problems with Mediawiki. I tried nearly every suggestion listed in the forums for fixing a mysql install that wouldn't start but nothing worked. I even completely uninstalled mysql and reinstalled it but it still refused to start. I switched over to postgresql and switched mediawiki to run with that. Problem solved.

    There are some other things that must be done to connect to
    the database
    (such as passing the usernamee, password, and host info to
    mysql_connect()
    and storing the connection resource), and those might be in
    the include
    files. I generally place all of the connection parameters in
    a separate file
    that is located in a folder that can't be accessed by a
    browser, for
    security purposes.

  • Safari & JavaScript Problems

    On some websites, I cannot use scripted buttons etc. This is true in all browsers (Safari, Firefox, IE, etc.). I have no problems with my Windows machine. Is there a setting I can change or an add-in that might let me use these sites? I'm not getting any errors in Java, so I'm assuming it's a compatability issue between OSX and the Java being used. Any help would be appreciated because I now have to use my PC to access certain sites (and I have to use them for work).

    This is from my similar Safari problems a few months back. It may apply to your Java problems.
    I confirmed that it's my Tiger Safari failure to handle Java Applets that is giving me troubles. Java scripts are OK.
    Relief, my Safari Java problem is solved. I got the clue to the cause in an Apple discussion, a chap in Germany using Panther had the identical problem.
    The problem was caused by older Internet Plugins contained in my UserID>Library>Internet Plugins.
    These plugins take priority over the Internet Plugins contained in HD>Library>Internet Plugins.
    So removing the duplicate older Internet Plugins from UserID>Library>Internet Plugins corrected the Java applet problem. I had more duplicate Plugins there than the Java ones.
    This happened because when doing a clean install I selected to copy over my UserID from the previous Jaguar system, a logical thing to do to carry my files and settings forward.
    But bringing forward the Internet Plugin Folder is obviously a big problem for those bringing forward their UserID when installing MacOS X.
    Here is a very good site to test your browsers handling of Java Scripts and Applets.

  • HTML changes made on website - Safari big problems

    I made changes to my non-Mac website using Cyberduck & Text Wrangler. When I checked Firefox & Internet Explorer all changes were fine. When I check Safari my website is a mess. This has never happened before. I am using Safari 4.0.3. How can I fix this?

  • Horrible video skip / lag problem - once per second in all apps!

     I built a new system last month (my first AMD) and I am having a really aggravating problem. In all games and all video playback I get an annoying skip once per second, every second. It affects sound during gameplay but not during movie or mp3 playback. It even happens with the visualization mode in Windows Media Player.
    My system is as follows: MSI K8N Neo4-F, A64 3200+ venice core, MSI 6800GT 256MB PCI-E, two sticks of Corsair valueselect DDR400 512MB each, 500 watt PS, 160GB 7200 SATA HDD. Most recent NVIDIA drivers for everything. WinXP Pro with SP2 and all updates, DX9C. Nothing overclocked, all settings standard.
    I have tried the following solutions:
    1) BIOS upgrades, started with 1.4, installed 1.5, MSI tech support gave me 1.6b2 and I installed that. No luck with any of them.
    2) Memory, installed per MSI directions, but I've tried all legal combinations, including one stick at a time. No change.
    3) full format and reinstall of WinXP. No luck.
    4) Switching between WinXP IDE drivers and NVidia drivers, with and without RAID drivers, No luck.
    5) Removal of 6800GT PCI-E card and replacing with Ancient 8MB PCI Permedia2 video card. Problem still persists.
    6) Disable onboard sound and LAN. No luck.
    7) Running Fedora core 4 on second partition. Installed Nvidia video drivers, tried some games. THIS WORKS! No hitch, no skip, no nothing. Framerates are noticably slower but very stable. In WinXP I saw framerates bounce all over the place, from 230 FPS down to about 70 with one game. That same game on Linux ran smoothly at about 166 FPS with only occasional slight drops. The big FPS drops in Windows usually came right after one of the skips but didn't occure after every skip.
    Right now I'm stumped. Linux uses totally different drivers for sound, LAN and SATA support. Some of those drivers don't fully use the Nforce4 chipset's features, maybe that's part of the difference.

    Thanks TireSmoke:
    I had found that sticky, but I took your advice and went thorugh it in detail last night.  Lots of great info, fixes tweaks and tools, sadly none of them fixed my problem.  The lag problem most people are reporting is not really like the wierd problem I am having.  I have tried the recoommended fixes with ablsolutely no change in my system's behavior.
    I am beginning to suspect a faulty motherboard component.
    Russ_XP:
    I think you are correct about fast writes.  I googled the heck out of that last night and couldn't find any reference to enabling or disabling fast writes on PCI-E.
    The drive is SATA-1.  The Neo4-F is not SATA-2 enabled (there is a hack for it though).  From memory I think it's a Western Digital WD1600-something, 7200 RPM dirve.  I've tried it on both SATA buses and tried disabling the unused bus in BIOS.
    I'm pretty sure I can dig up an old PATA drive somewhere and give that a try.
    Gpalmer:
    True enough, and I don't have these problems under Fedora.  Sadly this is a cross-platform game development box, I need both XP and Fedora working.
    Black_God:
    Nope, this is a clean install.  Although I wonder, could any of the built in XP update and security tools be causing this?  I have disabled Windows firewall and virus protection monitoring.

    Nobody knows.  iWorks apps have always had bugs that make them unsuitable for Hebrew/Arabic for most people.  Tell Apple here:

  • Lag problem with JFileChooser

    I have searched the archives and haven't found any useful information regarding the fact that creating a JFileChooser lags horribly on some systems...namely mine. I have tried running my own program and the FileChooserDemo on java versions 1.4.1_02, 1.4.1_06, 1.4.2_01-b06, and 1.5.0 beta and all of them have the INCREDIBLY slow lagging problem. I am running Win XP pro P3 800 386MB and it takes over 40 seconds to load the chooser. I have disabled all anti-virus software to no avail. I have run my program on a computer at my college which runs Win XP also and there it runs fine...so I am at a complete loss as to what could be wrong. If anyone has any insight into this problem please let me know!
    thanks

    Yeah...they talk a lot about theories of what the problem may be, but only offer a few solutions...none of which have helped me (loading the JFileChooser when app starts, and stopping anti-virus software). Thanks though.

  • How to problem solve adf issue in the mx340 model

    how to problem solve adf issue in the mx340 model

    Alex,
    the missing thing in your example is the fact, that if only one value is selected, the parameter has exact this value like BOSTON. If you choose more than one value, the parameter includes the *'*, so that it looks like *'BOSTON','NEW YORK'*. So you need to check in the package, if there's a *,* in the parameter or not. If yes there's more than one value, if not it's only one value or it's null.
    So change your package to (you need to expand your variables)
    create or replace package bip_departments_2_parameters
    as
    p_dep_2_param varchar2(1000);
    p_loc_1_param varchar2(1000);
    p_where_clause varchar2(1000);
    function beforereporttrigger
    return boolean;
    end bip_departments_2_parameters;
    create or replace package body bip_departments_2_parameters
    as
    function beforereporttrigger
    return boolean
    is
    l_return boolean := true;
    begin
    p_where_clause := ' ';
    if p_dep_2_param is not null then
    if instr(p_dep_2_param,',')>0 then
    p_where_clause := 'WHERE DNAME in ('||p_dep_2_param||')';
    else
    p_where_clause := 'WHERE DNAME = '''||p_dep_2_param||'''';
    end if;
    if p_loc_1_param is not null then
    if instr(p_loc_1_param,',')>0 then
    p_where_clause := p_where_clause || ' AND LOC IN ('||p_loc_1_param||')';
    else
    p_where_clause := p_where_clause || ' AND LOC = '''||p_loc_1_param||'''';
    end if;
    end if;
    else
    if p_loc_1_param is not null then
    if instr(p_loc_1_param,',')>0 then
    p_where_clause := p_where_clause || 'WHERE LOC in ('||p_loc_1_param||')';
    else
    p_where_clause := p_where_clause || 'WHERE LOC = '''||p_loc_1_param||'''';
    end if;
    end if;
    end if;
    return (l_return);
    end beforereporttrigger;
    end bip_departments_2_parameters;

  • WiFi connection problem solved

    My intel iMac and MBA had no problem but iPods 3g and 5g did.  I had an old Netgear router connected and sitting next to my Airport Express.  On a hunch I diconnected the Netgear and created a guest network to replace the one on the Netgear.  PROBLEM SOLVED!
    Evidently our iPods and boarder's iPhone had problems sorting out the signals and finding the right addresses.  Moving the AE to a higher and slightly more central position also helped.
    Jim

    Same here on a Vodafone PocketWiFi 2.
    Tried NetworkManager, wicd, wifi-menu but all have the same issue.
    I recently installed Aptosid on another machine and it has the same problem... It also has kernel version 3.9.
    All the live CDs I've tried work, even an Arch CD from May works, though a current install does not.
    I have no problems connecting to another (wpa2 enterprise) network yet can't on this 3G modem.
    I'm hoping this isn't a permanent issue and perhaps an update very soon will fix this.
    It seems the only way to fix this for now is to use an old version of Linux. I'm currently running a virtual machine only for the purpose of Internet sharing, very annoying.

  • Just installed iOS7 on iPhone 4.  Huge typing lag problem now.  Any fixes?  Apple please fix asap.

    I just installed iOS7 on my new iPhone 4.  Huge typing lag problem now.  Any fixes out there?  How do I uninstall this update.  The phone worked better without it.  Don't even like the new layout and icon design.
    Apple, please fix this now!!!

    Try a Restart.
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
     Resetting your settings
    You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
    Resetting your device
    Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
    Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.
    Here is a link to their contacts with most of the information below.

  • Bug fix for Mac book wireless - problem solved!

    Aparantly there is a rather large number of folks out there who've discovered this dillema with wireless not working very well at this point on the Macbook.
    Well, I can attest there is one very good solution out there for this issue. This application called Sonar Theater from www.sunray.tv includes a bug fix for the wireless connection issues with Macbook in their latest 1.5 release of Sonar Theater.
    I downloaded it, put it into my start up folder and waalaa! problem solved. I've haven't any more issues with dropped wireless since - it's been running constantly for over 2 weeks now.
    I haven't even attempted to touch my router configuration - don't need to.

    Welcome to the better life of Macs. I am using Sonar Theater too and it's been working very well for me. In fact, I'm getting hooked on just texting a message to my Mac book to fire up user sessions now. I think if you give the Mac Book some time however, you'll find that there really is no comparison to PC's. Your life overall is going to just keep getting better as you dig in to the resources available to new Mac users.
    I'm sure it seems confusing to PC users at first, but here's how to set up any application as part of your startup sequence. It really is extremely easy and simple compared to the PC world. Oh and by the way, in reality, Mac users refer to this as your login sequence. So, at login time, you can do a multitude of different things for each user account you might want to set up. Naturally, you can choose to share or not share applications and data between these user accounts on your Mac too....
    Mac OS X 10.3 or later
    1. Log in as the user who wishes to have a login item or as an admin user.
    2. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
    3. Choose Accounts from the View menu.
    4. Click the name of the user.
    5. Click the Startup Items button
    6. Click the "Add {+}" button.
    The item you selected will automatically open the next time you log in.
    there are several ways to get good info from the apple community on tips and tricks as well. you should just try the apple os x web site...here,

    happy mac-ing!

  • I've been considering the Yosemite upgrade but especially after reading some of blue tooth lag problems, I'm wondering how to be able to go back to mountain lion.

    i have been considering upgrading to Yosemite from Mountain Lion but especially after reading about some of the bluetooth lag problems, i would want to be able to return to my current OS, just in case and am unsure what steps to take.

    Drive Partition and Format
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Apply button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
    To clone your existing system:
    Clone Yosemite, Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion using Restore Option of Disk Utility
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
    Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
         1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu then press the Continue
             button.
         2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
         3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
         4. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it
             to the Destination entry field.
         5. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to
             the Source entry field.
         6. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
    Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
