Safari, Layers, and Flash (k)

This has been a bug for a long time. When you put a SWF on a
page and
have an HTML layer go over it in Safari(mac), the flash
appears ABOVE
the layer that is on top of it. Only in Safari, not Firefox.
Is there a workaround?
-Kirk

Works in some browsers, but not in IE6 on Windows.
Safari it seems to work on the more recent version.

  • Using layers and flash clips

    Hello...
I am having terrible trouble getting flash movies and
graphics to align themselves 'fixed' and correctly when I bring
them up in the browser window.
When I place them where I want them in Dreamweaver, it looks
fine... Then, when I hit F12 to test it, they are sometimes out of
place. Also, when I manage to work it so that they ARE in place, if
I have a margin open in the browser window (such as 'favourites')
    the flash area moves.
What do I do in order to make sure the flash layer remains
totally and permanently fixed where I want it, and doesn't move
around when browser margins are used?
    Thanks.

If you can wait, AIR can be also powerful for you. Just betas
    for Windows
and Mac are ready for download.
I don't know what security features are integrated (for
    illegal copies,
    etc.) but it
seams to be the future ...

  • Problems with Safari, Firefox and Flash player

Ever since I got my new iMac that has Snow Leopard I've had problems with Safari and Firefox freezing or crashing. It appears that part of the problem is the Flash plugin because sometimes a screen pops up and says something like: the flash script is having problems. I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling Flash, Safari and Firefox but the problem is still there. My browser seems to hang up or freeze a lot no matter if I use Safari or Firefox.
    Any ideas?
I just discovered the Chrome browser from Google this morning and so far its working very well. No freezes and it appears to handle Flash video without any problems.
    How can that be?
    Thanks

Ah! The proverbial missing information. Why the regrets? Most people are having no issues migrating from previous computers; it's the preferred method. See Best Practices and Setup new Mac. You're a long way from starting over.

  • Safari launch and Flash problems

Safari seems to crash at random times or not function well with certain Web sites. This is what has been happening so far...
    1. It takes about 30 to 45 seconds for Safari to launch.
    2. Sometimes after launching, Safari crashes immediately after a blank browser window opens (I have it set to open to a blank page and not a specific Web site).
    3. Safari will crash on certain pages. For instance when accessing cnn.com, it crashes as it is trying to load the page. The cnn.com Web site will load fine with Firefox.
    4. Safari does not seem to work well with certain Web sites that are entiely or partially Flash driven. For instance tvguide.com. I get an error message about trying to execute a Flash script. This does not happen in Firefox.
I tried trashing the related Safari files (e.g. caches files), resetting Safari, reinstalling Safari and the Flash plug-in and the usual maintenance (crons, repair permissions).
    Power Mac G5 / 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Here is the crash log for Safari. I am hoping this will be an easy fix.
I am trying to see if I can cause Safari to crash again on startup. So far the only thing that is causing Safari to crash is when I am trying to view news video footage off of cnn.com (which uses Windows Media Player).I have tried to reinstall Windows Media Player (version 9). No changes, still crashes Safari.

  • Safari, Facebook, and Flash

I have Safari 5.1.5. When I try to load a photo album on FB, or view photos on Flikr, I get a message that I should install the latest version of Flash. I have done that several times, but it still prompts me again and the photo apps still don't work. Everything works great on Chrome.
    Any ideas?
    Geoff

    Hi Geoff...
Try uninstalling the current Flash plugin first, then reinstall new  >   Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Launch Safari From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
    Now try a video.
BTW... if you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode  is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safa
Tip. Never download Flash from a non Adobe webpage. Adobe only. Otherwise you could end up with malware.

  • Problem with Safari and Flash

    Hi guys,
i've a macbook pro 15' top-2010  with osx 10.7 Lion & Adobe Flash Player 11.0.1.98 (beta) and i've this problem (with safari, firefox and chrome):
    - when i go in a facebook game (cityville, poker, or other flash games) my cpu go at over 100% (also 150%) usage, the temperature become very very high and the fans go to 4500rpm.
in the other sites (youtube, normal flash site,...) i haven't problem.
note that all the browser are update at the last stable version. i've also tried to install the last stable version of flash (10.3.183.5) but nothing.
in the console, when i'm in a facebook game, i see (repeated many times):
    - kernel: IOSurface: buffer allocation size is zero
    - kernel: nstat_lookup_entry failed: 2
    what can I do?
    solutions?
    thanks

i done this, but the problem remains.
I have to wait for updates (for lion and for adobe flash)

  • Safari and Flash

Safari and Flash does not work correctly. I always have problems accessing flash sites, like this:
    http://globosat.globo.com/telecine/servicos/programacao.asp
There is a blank rectangle below the flash menu, I can't see the content correctly.
I think Apple must work with Macromedia to give us a better internet experience...

    Hi xPixel,
You can't click anything on menu (there is a flash animation floating around the window)
    image: http://img44.imageshack.us/my.php?image=imagem20ox.jpg
URL: http://www.claro.com.br/portal/site/siteTA/ (please select "Rio de Janeiro")
This also doesn't work with Firefox, Camino or Opera. That page also has a whopping 367 errors according to the web standards validation page (validator.w3.org).
You see a blank rectangle above the menu and can't click it
    image: http://img414.imageshack.us/my.php?image=imagem15yo.jpg
    URL: http://globosat.globo.com/telecine/servicos/programacao.asp
The same for this site - neither Firefox, Camino or Opera will display anything in the blank area.
Can't click the menu on this site
    image: http://img44.imageshack.us/my.php?image=imagem37sy.jpg
    URL: http://www.premierpet.com.br/
And exactly the same for this. So, I'd say there isn't a serious problem with Safari and Flash, since they all fail in 3 other browsers as well.
Apple can only do so much with sloppily coded websites. If these sites want your business the onus should be on them to make them work correctly with as many browsers as possible. This is the real solution.

  • Problem with Safari 5.0 update and Flash

It seems there are several Flash related issues with updating to Safari 5.0, and I am also struggling.
Since updating Safari, the Flash plugin is not being found by any programs (I've tried Safari, Firefox and Zattoo).
I have tried (in various orders) repairing disk permissions, restarting, reinstalling safari 5.0, removing and reinstalling the Flash plugin (10.1), resetting Safari, installing an older version of Flash (9.0). No luck as yet.
    Please help!

Home is a sorta shorthand for the base or root folder within a User Account - in Finder, you click on the lil house-type icon in left & that's your account Home.
It can also be found via HD/Users/Account User name/
the symbol ~ is used to represent it - so ~/Library/ is your account Library, whilst /Library/ is the HD/Library
    Excuse the lesson
Now - if you're saying that the contents of
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins/
    and
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins/
are the same ( use Finder - Go to Folder and paste the above if you're not certain you checked the right place )
then you should trash all of those within your account at ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins/

  • Custom keyboard shortcuts and editing multiple layers in Flash CS4

    Hi, all -
CS3 -> CS4 transition newb here who's getting increasingly frustrated with the new motion tweens; however, for this project, I'm working in a 3D space and require using them, so I'm dealing with this bit by painful bit. I found the tip about Split Motion, but first question: how do you apply Split Motion across several layers at the same time? I have six different tweens, and in CS3, I used to be able to shift-click or click-drag across frames and apply a command to all of them (for example, hit F5 to add frames), but Split Motion is requiring me to right-click on each and every layer. This is really laborious, and I worry about future animations that might be more complex.
Similarly, I tend to add custom keyboard shortcuts to each of my Flash versions for commands I use frequently and don't want to right-click a menu for (such as "add motion tween") - however, I can't seem to find where to create a custom shortcut for either that, or Split Motion.
Any and all help would be appreciated as I muddle through this. Honestly, guys, I WANT to like the new version and there's so many added features, but it's hampering my workflow so bad I want to pummel it with sticks.

    Hey there,
I definitely hear you about Split Motion. There is an enhancement request for supporting multiple layers, and adding it as a keyboard shortcut. The first one is tricky, but the second one is not. I think there was hope that splitting motions wouldn't be necessary much (especially since you have to be careful when doing so when eases are involved), which is why the eventual need for more functionality related to split motion was realized a bit late in the schedule.
Now regarding other operations, such as you mentioned F5 to insert frames - that and other operations (inserting certain types of property keyframes, F6, and so on) work just fine.
You can apply a shortcut to Create Motion Tween in the custom keyboard shortcut dialog.  Not all operations in the program are available though (most context menu items aren't), which is why unfortunately why we don't see Split Motion yet.
It might be possible to avoid Split Motion though with another workflow. What are you using the feature for?  Just curious in case I can help.
    Jen.

  • Java and Flash not working ONLY in Safari

Ok, so Java and flash stopped working in Safari on my 10.6.8 system. It seems a recent update caused a problem and all of the normal items I have gone through have made it worse or not helped.
Java is not working in Safari (My account or guest account)

Java DOES work in Chrome and Firefox

              Java SE 6 Update 31
              Flash - 11,2,202,235 installed
Able to use apps and other items online that are not working in Safari.
Have downloaded and installed the following and done the following
         Ran software update
Verified Java and Java Script are enabled via Safari > Preferences > Security
         Re-installed Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 8
         Reinstalled current version of flash
Looked around and deleted all plist, and java folders in library locations (user and main system)
         Cleared out metadata folders
         Reset Safari several times
         Java Preferences
              Cleared all cache
Made sure no old versions there (2 entereis)
              Reset all defaults
              Removed any blocked items
    Current Java version per terminal
    java -version
    java version "1.6.0_31"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_31-b04-415-10M3646)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 20.6-b01-415, mixed mode)
So - Java is up and working - works in Chrome and Firefox. Have reinstalled both from current versions. Reset all browser cache. Issue follows Safari. Normally installing these and trying again works. I do not know what other things to reset or clear out.

Yes, I got distracted for a moment with something, came back and I didn't finish reading the OP's original post, I have since edited mine.
BTW, the Mozilla plug-in checker is basically useless for Safari users, since have of those I have have no status, but work in Safari:
I don't know the causes for the "Research" one's, why there isn't a link or why it doesn't update the checker,
But at least it's infomative, as vulnerable plug-ins are responsible for MacDefender and Flashback malware attacks.
Someone with a lot of plug-ins should be running Firefox and NoScript, as your very exposed to multiple attack vectors from any of those plug-ins, which is the purpose of the web site, to get the word out about outdated plug-ins with potential security issues.

  • Tutorials on the Apple Website play in Safari and Chrome, but not always in Firefox. Java and Flash plug ins are up to date.

I was trying to play the Time Machine video tutorial on the Apple Website (I have an imac 10.6.6) and it won't play in Firefox, but it will in Safari and Chrome. This has happened before but then seemed to fix itself. Other videos (Youtube for eg.) play fine. All plugs (Java and Flash) are up to date. Just wondering why this could happen.

I have had this problem for a few days, no sound in Firefox, but IE and WMP (offline) have sound, this is a Firefox ONLY problem, so the volumes are all set correctly and the drivers and needed files are there, I've tried every fix that people have suggested on Google like checking the flash player settings, creating the "missing.reg" registry file and importing it, etc...
nothing works, I may just have to switch to Safari or Chrome, I watch a lot of video online (Youtube, ESPN3, NFL.com, etc.) so this is a huge problem...

  • Safari and Flash & Adobe Reader not playing nice

I think I need to uninstall Safari 4 and start over. Flash and PDF viewing haven't been working since I installed the beta. Both work fine in Firefox so everything is installed.
A tad nervous about deleting anything important in the process. Anything I need to protect manually when I un-install Safari? Bookmarks etc?

No. Use the uninstaller that came with the Safari 4 dmg.
You may have a outdated version of FlashPlayer.Uninstall FlashPlayer. Install the newest version here.
    Repair permissions after the update.
Also check Adobe Reader's preference>internet pane and make sure that you don't have 'Open pdf's with Reader' ticked.
