Safari loads 100% CPU while opening a webpage when working in cooperation with DeviceLock
I have Safari 5.0.5 and DeviceLock 7.1 installed on same computer running Windows XP x86.
When I confugure any network protocol settings in Devicelock (to make its network module active), Safari loads 100% CPU while opening any webpage, for example http://www.apple.com/startpage/
This issue doesn't occurs on other browsers - Internet Explorer, Firefox, so I assume the issue belongs to Safari, not to DeviceLock.
It may not be DeviceLock, or Windows. I see (via Activity Monitor) Safari use 100% CPU while loading a new page on my G5 iMac. Then it drops back again. It may be something to do with Safari 5.0.5

I was fed up getting messages such as:
Safari can't open the page...
Safari can't connect to the server.. etc
I tried everything to get my Safari 3.1.1 to work on my Mac Pro computer (OS X 10.5.2) - then I found the solution for my Mac accidentally - it was due to Intego Net Barrier X4 that I had installed on my computer.
What I did was to upgrade to NetBarrier X5 and, after installation, I deleted the old intruder Stop List under NetBarroer's 'Antivandal' Stop List button. Now I can visit all the sites that previously did not open in Safari 3.1.1. However, I am not sure whether it was the upgrade or just deleting the intruder stop lists that did the trick.
So, before you upgrade to Intego NetBarrier X5, try and delete the stop lists under the antivandal button first in your existing NetBarrier X4. Highlight the intruder list (click on the first intruder at the top of the list and, while holding down the shift key, click on the last intruder on the list, thus selecting all of them), and then press the 'minus' button below the list. This will remove all the intruder items in the stop list. Restart your computer, open up Safari and now check if you can access sites previously inaccessible by Safari. If not, upgrade to NetBarrier X5 and it should work. Well at least in my case. -
IPhoto keeps loading and crashing while opening
I'm using iPhoto @ Mac Book pro Retina mid 2012, OX 10.8.4 (12E55). But it keeps loading and crashing while opening it. Usually crashed 4~6 times before opened it successfully, and sometimes also suddenly crashed after opened in few mins.
Normally, I need to direct click on "photo library" that would be last longer.
Attached last message of crash for ref.
Hope someone can help to solve it or find out what caused it, thanks.

4 com.apple.FoundationAs a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?
If it doesn't then your current library is damaged and needs to be repaired as follows: apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with
Option #4 and then #1 as needed.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

ReportCrash using over 100% cpu after opening photoshop cs6
Currently running Mavericks on my macbook pro & just started noticing a problem. I'm sure its been there for a while, judging by past performance of photoshop, but just now caught it in activity monitor.
After I launch photoshop CS6, AM automatically shows ReportCrash as using upwards of 100% cpu, which explains why my computer seems to be dying when i'm working in the program.
As far as I could get with this problem on my own is checking concole to see what might be causing the process to appear. Not sure how to fix the problem though, which is why I come to the forums seeking guidance!
thanks in advance for any help!Same thing is happening to me. Seems like it started about a week ago, fan is running a whole lot now. I'm not saying it's the cause but the "top" utility shows /System/Library/CoreServices/ReportCrash running at 103% - 105%. Weird.
Changes: In the past 10 days Software Update delivered new versions of OS X 10.9.2 and iTunes 11.1.5, and I installed and ran DiskAid 6.5.3 and evasi0n7-mac-1.0.7. Also, Chrome began to hang several times a day in the past week so I removed it and re-installed it, which seems to have solved that problem.
Anybody else hearing the fan a lot and seeing these 100%+ utilitizations lately? -
100% CPU usage in DW CS5 when opening page...
Hi there, I'm new here!
I'm working on my site in DW and have already completed another site without having this problem. I open a *paticular* file, and my CPU usage goes to 100% when I use the split view. In code, DW runs fine, but as soon as it tries to render a preview (not in live mode) in the second pane, it starts going quickly between (notresponding) and very slow response. So it's slow or nothing!
This page is using some z-index in the CSS and flash, so I don't know if maybe it's just my processor speed isn't up to it?
I have tried it on my downstairs desktop (quad core, can't remember exact specs but could look it up, but it's faster than my ltop, obviously..), and it works slightly better. Does DW use scratch disks? Is there a way to turn off some CSS properties in the display to improve performance? I can work just in code for a lot of my work, but for placement it is much more intuitive to use a split view for me. HELP! (Please and thank you!)I am having a similar problem with some files when working in split view. I have been experiencing slow performance and Dreamweaver goes into "Not Responding" state for 30-60 sec when I click somewhere (doesn't matter if I click in design or code portion) and also when I go to Undo something. This has happened in other files, too. Eventually it starts responding again but it is moving slowly. My task manager shows CPU and memory usage spiking up and down as well (specifically memory of Dreamweaver process).
Sometimes it does it when Dreamweaver is open and I am doing something in another smaller window in front of it too (such as writing an email)…
I had the task manager open and Dreamweaver (and nothing else) the other day, and Dreamweaver kept flashing back and forth to "Not Responding"… so I closed it and it made task manager freeze up so that it wouldn’t close and the task manager memory and CPU usage were spiking.
Specs on my machine:
HP xw6600 workstation
Windows Vista SP2 (32-bit)
Intel Xeon Processor (Quad-core, 2.33 GHz)
4 gigs of RAM
I am Running Dreamweaver CS5 with all updates installed
I have already tried the following:
Re-creating preferences file
Re-creating registry files
Re-creating personal config files
Uninstalling and Re-installing Dreamweaver
Running a Windows Live Care scan on my computer to check for viruses, registry file errors, etc.
The only thought I have is that I when I installed CS5, i didnt uninstall CS4 first, thinking that I could just upgrade...
When I went into add/remove programs Creative Suite CS4 still showed up in there, but the programs were not on my computer anymore. I removed it anyway, but there were still some random folders left on my computer from it that I found when trying to solve this issue, such as preferences files from CS4 and personal config folders for Dreamweaver CS4, Photoshop CS4, Fireworks CS4 and Contribute CS4, which I deleted, but it has not solved the problem.
I can't think of anything else to try short of wiping my hard drive and doing a clean install of OS and Creative Suite, which I really dont want to go through.
Please help! -
100% CPU spike opening file
Hi there,
I'm using JDev 10.1.3.0.4(SU4) under Windows 2000, configured to use the default 512MB of memory. When I attempt to load one of several files JDev spikes to 100% CPU utilization, very reproducibly (I've been restarting JDeveloper all afternoon trying to work around the problem), even when I've freshly rebooted and all extensions have been turned off!
The file is as so:
-- begin
package blah;
import blah;
public class bleh implements blah
public bleh()
--end
If I edit the file from DOS and add a linefeed before the closing brace, the file loads fine but one of its brethren that's just like it continues not to load. I've turned many switches on and off this afternoon -- is there something I can do not to have to discover what files need hand-tweaking by having to restart the whole thing?
thanks,
James
PS the actual file has normal indentation not showing up hereYesterday I was close, today I found the reason. IT'S SO F***ING STUPID. It's actually another bug, which is only fixed in mustang:

For some reason I indeed had a shortcut on my desktop to the desktop itself. We have some document management system where you can checkin and checkout documents, and I configured it so to check them out to the desktop, and apparently that program created a shortcut on my desktop to the checkout folder!
Well, anyway, I have all the latestest security patches and drivers now - and also Java is working again. Can I now assign the duke dollars to myselfi? :-) -
After loading firefox it will open once then when i shut down unaberle access the web again
I load firefox and access the internet but when I back out of firefox to continue with something else and attempt to access the net again with firefox nothing happens. It lost in the back ground of the computer. Never had this problem before with firefox until I tried to use bitcomet and zonealarm. It fustrating.
Try to close Firefox via "File > Exit" if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar.

Loading www.latimes.com firefox will soon pause while it consumes 100% of the cpu. This periodically goes away but the frequency of 100% loading increases until it barely normalizes.
This behavior persists after loading another web site. This also happens on Linux without Flash installed. Both machines I use are 64 bit, one with Vista and one with OpenSuSE.
I back reved to 3.6 and saw the same behavior. I haven't tried 3.5.
I emailed LA Times support since this behavior is recent, within the last few weeks, but have heard nothing back.Loading www.latimes.com firefox will soon pause while it consumes 100% of the cpu. This periodically goes away but the frequency of 100% loading increases until it barely normalizes.

Safari launches, but won't open any webpage, including Safari
Installed Safari. Installation seemed uneventful, but when I attempt to launch Safari the window and menu bars will open but that's it. It won't open Safari's home page or any other. All I get is a blank window. What did I do wrong?
I have no idea how to deal with a "proxy issue." All I get is the Safari opening window and toolbar and the line, Loading "http://www.apple.com/startpage/" at the top, but it does nt open. I think I'm going to have to remove Safari. I use it on my other computers, but is simply won't work on this one and I'd love to know why. I tried the "develop" suggestion suggested by another person but all I get is a blank window with "Web Inspector" at the tip. I'm stumped, but appreciate efforts to help. Even if I have to dump Safari, I'd sure like to know what the glitch is. I've installed it twice.

Gnome-open starts /bin/bash -ic (uname) and uses 100% CPU to open gvim
I've posted this on stackoverflow and got no answer, hopefully some archers can help me out:
When I execute
gnome-open textfile
I expect gvim to open up. Instead what happens is that the command hangs. When I check htop I see:
/bin/bash -ic (uname) > /tmp/{some random string of characters}
using 100% of the CPU. When I kill the process (and I have to use -9), then cpu usage goes back to normal and gvim opens.
Running
gvim -f textfile
without gnome-open works perfectly.
Any ideas where this process is coming from? Or what it's even doing?
/bin/bash -ic (uname)
doesn't even run for me.

A few days ago Safari has been taking up all the CPU time after it launches. Sometimes I can quit it, and sometimes I have to do a force quite. I don't remember installing anything recently. I am running Leopard and I just recently did a software update and Safari and Safari still has the same problem. Has this happened to anyone else or know what I can do? The version of Safari I am running is 3.2.3 (5525.28.3).
Thanks!
AnselmHI,
Did you run Disk Utility and repair disk permissions after you did the updates? If not...
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select FirstAid, then click: Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Get Onyx. Run the maintenance under the Automation tab.http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/onyx_leopard.html
Boot from your install disk and run Disk Utility.
Insert Installer disk and Restart, holding down the "C" key until grey Apple appears.
Go to Installer menu (Panther and earlier) or Utilities menu (Tiger and later) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in the left panel.
Select First Aid in the Main panel.
(Check S.M.A.R.T Status of HDD at the bottom of right panel. It should say: Verified)
Click Repair Disk on the bottom right.
If DU reports disk does not need repairs quit DU and restart.
If DU reports errors Repair again and again until DU reports disk is repaired.

Safari using 100% cpu?
Hi everyone,
I recently got a Macbook from the refurb store. Right away, I had to have the fans replaced and the optical drive. I've noticed that the machine gets really really hot all the time, no matter what I'm doing. If I have it on my lap, I will get burned if I have it on me for more than a few minutes. Anyone know what that fix for this might be?
I'm currently running 10.5.4, have 4GB of RAM that I got from crucial.com, and 2.2GHz. Any help is much appreciated!
btw, this problem was happening before I got 10.5.4.Anti virus software installed? MacKeeper?
Remove all items from System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Items
Same for HD > Library > StartupItems then restart your Mac and try Safari.
If that didn't help, open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
