Safari logs me out of websites every day at midnight

A few days ago I was browsing the internet and Safari randomly closed and asked me to "reset" so that it would work. I clicked reset and didn't lose my bookmarks and nothing seemed to be different. At midnight that night Safari logged me out of the websites that I had been logged into, and has done this every night at midnight ever since. Is there any way to fix this? I'd love to have it back like it was.

Hi Sonny,
Can you explain in a bit more detail the logging out?
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.

  • Why does Firefox log me out of websites every few minutes?

I'm having a problem where I'm getting logged out of websites automatically every few minutes. It doesn't matter what the website is (Facebook, email, forums etc.) once I've logged in, after a few minutes of browsing I'll be logged out again. I've tried re-installing Firefox and have cleared my cookies/cache multiple times but it's still happening. I've been using Firefox for years and this is the first time anything like this has happened so I guess that it might be related to the latest update. Does anyone have any ideas?

    What are the connection settings?
    *Tools > Options > Advanced > Network : Connection > Settings
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Options+window+-+Advanced+panel
If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.
    See "Firefox connection settings":

Check the date and time and time zone in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

  • Safari logs me out of Facebook every time I click a link

This just started happening today. odd

    HI,
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Security tab. Click: Show Cookies
    Remove all FB related cookies.
Relaunch Safari and try FB again.
If that didn't help, open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left.
    Delete your Facebook keychain.
Relaunch Safari. Navigate to Facebook, login with your user name and password. Click Yes when prompted.

  • Why does Caps Lock and F keys log me out of websites?

    MacBook Air 11" Core i5, OS X 10.7.2, Safari 5.1.2.
Caps Lock and F keys seem to log me out of websites like Jimdo and stop BBC iPlayer from playing video, why? Most annoying. As you can't turn up the volume with out stopping the video and the system going back to the beginning of the video.

On a Mac OS X system: System Preferences->Keyboard and Mouse->Keyboard(tab)->Modifier Keys(button): set Caps Lock to No Action (or to plain Shift if you prefer). Some people like Caps Lock. They can keep it. Others (like me) keep pressing it by mistake. We disable it. Everybody's happy. And if you're a No Caps Lock type of person, but really want it on rare occasion, just map it back temporarily. Takes 5 seconds.

  • Since ios 7 I can no longer use google translate in safari.  I use this page every day to translate friends Facebook entries.  Anyone else having this problem?  And is there a fix?

Since ios 7 I can no longer use google translate in safari.  I use this page every day to translate friends Facebook entries.  Anyone else having this problem?  And is there a fix?  Currently it is in my bookmark bar beside Facebook and worked fine until I upgraded top ios 7 a few days ago.

Go to your Google translate bookmark.
Type in a word then tap whatever language.
Make a select for the language to be translated to by tapping Dutch (or whatever language you see in the box all the way to the right. You should see a language menu.

  • Safari 5.1 Win 7 constantly logging me out of websites, WebKit2WebProcess.exe crashes

Finally updated to 5.1 last night, Safari now contantly logs me out of various webistes (gmail, facebook, youtube, google, hotmail, kotaku, ign, gamespot, and practicvally every website that requires log in). Also, some websites (facebook and gmail) keep telling me I have my accept cookies setting tuned off, when it's set on "only from sites I visit", had to set it to "always" before I can log in.
Also, every now and then something called "WebKit2WebProcess.exe" crashes, but it doesn't seem to effect browsing in general. But both of this problems never happened with 5.05, so I thought switching back to 5.05 should solve this.
And it doesn't, switched back to 5.05, then to 5.04 and back to 5.05 again today, only the "WebKit2WebProcess.exe" crashes stopped. Logging out bug now also happens with older versions of Safari. I tried clearing caches, cookies, and resetting Safari, nothing works.
Maybe a separate software essential to Safari thats updated with the 5.1 update, is causing the bug; and reverting back to 5.05 and 5.04 doesn't revert this buggy software? Perhaps its a software that has something to do with cookies?
I HAD TO TYPE THIS POST TWICE, BECAUSE  BY THE TIME I FINISHED TYPING THE FIRST TIME AND CLICKED "POST MESSAGE", SAFARI HAD LOGGED ME OUT. WHEN I PRESSED "BACK", THE AUTOSAVE ONLY SAVED HALF OF THE FIRST PARAGRAPH!!! THIS BUG IS NOW DRIVING ME NUTS!!

Make sure after running Programs: Uninstall that those directories are cleared, you should not need to do so manually.
You do know your OS don't you?
And I repeat my recommendation to invest in free or commercial (and test it too) with "clone OS" of your choice for backups.
You're fine. Apple installed all that and can be uninstalled, and reinstalled.
But.... I was also this would allow you to reinstall, and install an older version. Otherwise the older version will not "downgrade" or touch a newer application support library, not usually, and not in fruitville.
I left iTunes - I said that in the post you are replying to.
I have not, and will not, bother with Safari again, ever. It looks nice, and easy to read which I like, but I spent too much time - they should tell customers or have a real public beta and have an extra million people kick the tires for a month or two first.
Safari also behaves different on the Community Forums in ways that IE9 and Firefox do not, but not enough to pull me over, which was my main reason, and that 5.1 was a major security update, as is the latest QuickTime version for Windows.
They should install and function better if you start from a clean slate (start from scratch), same as how things work and feel after a clean install - which is true of any platform or OS.

  • Safari keeps logging me out of websites, cookie related?

Safari keeps logging me out of some websites. "You are logged but your browser cookies are not enabled". In Safari preferences I have checked to accept cookies "only from sites I visit", to block third parties cookies and advertisers.
Not sure if there is a problem at all in accepting "all cookies", but, would that solve my logging issue? Would it be another cause for that?
I have Safari 5 now, but this has been happening since Safari 4.
    JJ

OK now I've tried the "accept all cookies", but the issue persists.

  • Safari 5 logs you out of websites

Safari 5 has been logging me out of several websites including: Gmail, Youtube & Flickr.
In the case of Gmail & YT my account are linked, I leave Gmail open and start using YT. Just now for example I wanted to like a video or add it to my faves and I got a "Sign in to perform this operation" message, but I didn't log out of gmail or youtube!!!!! Or I'm in YT, then I want to check my gmail and it asks me to sign in. In both cases I had to log in again. Also, this morning I was looking at some pictures from my contacts on flickr which were limited to "Friends", I finished seeing one, clicked on the another & I got a "You must be signed in to view this content" message!!!!! Again, I had NOT signed out of flickr!
Is anyone else having this problem??

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities) Select Passwords on the left.
Delete the keychains related to the sites you are having problems accessing.
In Safari, from the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Make sure: User names and passwords is selected. Now click the Security tab in the Preferences pane. Click the Show Cookies button. Delete all cookies for those sites.
Relaunch Safari. Sign into Gmail as usual with your user name and password. When prompted, click Yes. Same for any other site such as YouTube...
Also, if you didn't repair disk permissions after updating to Safari 5, do that.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • How do I stop Safari logging me out continually of websites?

For the last couple of months I and my husband are continually being logged out from websites such as ancestry.com.au on both our Macbook Pro and IPad.
We will be using the program and might click on save or the back option and it logs us out of the site we've been logged into.  I've seen a lot of discussion online about this happening to large amounts of people but no real solution.  I've tried resetting Safari and emptying the cache plus increasing our safari database to the maximum.  If I don't do this on a regular basis it just stops signing in altogether.
Any ideas?  My system is a Mac OS X Version 10.6.8.
    Here's hoping.
    rsimpson60

Safari doesn't log you out, the web site may do that. I would contact the web administrator.

  • Safari logs me out

My browser (Safari) regularly (every 30 minutes/hour) logs me out of all pages I'm logged into. This happens while I'm using my macbook pro, not when I close it. Any idea what can be happening? Thanks

then we have a few possibilities for a problem:
    1. Your cookies file could be corrupted.
    2. A file that Safari uses could be harboring some corrupted data, but the file(s) themselves aren't necessarily corrupt.
If you want to test the first possibility,
    1. Quit Safari if it's running.
    2. Go to ~/Library/Cookies and delete the cookies.plist file.
    3. Restart Safari and test it on those sites you were having problems with. If that fixes the problem, then you don't need to do anything else.

  • Safari logs me out of Gmail and refreshes the page.

I have Safari 5.1.4 on Mac OS Lion 10.7.3. I have a 2.52 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro. Throughout the day Safari will constantly reload Gmail and and log me out. Or like right now, I have Gmail open but it has the spinning wheel. Safari reloads my other tabs if I haven't been on them for a while, but it only bothers me with Gmail because I'll have to log back in or it'll do it in the middle of a Gchat.
Also, when I reset Safari, as in clear the cahce, history, etc. this window pops up: http://www.screencast.com/t/JBM4TViWq
I've change it to 32-bit but then Gmail is all white. And I'm not trying to open a movie like the warning says.
Is this happening to anyone else? Is there some setting I need to change? Any help would be greatly ap

I'd try updating to Safari 5.1.5. (It contains some fixes for issues with running in 32-bit mode, for example, and that seems to be in the vicinity of what you're getting here with 5.1.4.)

  • Safari logs me out very often since IOS5

Since i have installed IOS 5 it's just impossible to write a message on a phpbb site because of the bug of safari that keeps logging me out.
I tried to delete all cookies and history, i shutted down the ipad but it's still there...
I found a very similar problem on the forum about a cookie bug on safari (mac os version) but it's apparently not solved...
I had the same problem on the precedent version but it was less often. It's not casual anymore, i just can't continue like this.
I think it's a major bug on a device which like ipad is designed for friendly navigation on the internet. Using phpbb may be 40 % of my activities on it.
I'll just abandon the browser if i can't find a fix or a solution.
    Any ideas ?

Try going to Settings > Safari, and look at the Accept Cookies box.  Tap on it and make sure it is either set to "From Visited" or "Always".  There seems to be a problem during the iOS upgrade process that causes this setting to get changed to not accept cookies, which will mean almost all sites where you have to log in will not work, or will work badly.

  • Hitting the "x" to close safari logs me out of my account

I'm having this issue on my macbook pro with the most recent update of safari. I can browse safari for hours, but when i hit the "x" to close a window, it freezes and logs me out of my account. I've gotten used to it by being able to close safari from SAFARI> QUIT SAFARI in the menu bar at the top. I'd like to see if i can find the issue. it is getting old. if i have a pop up, i have to minimize it, instead of closing it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I've searched around, but haven't heard or seen anything quite like this. It is not a timing issue; only when i hit the "x" to close a window.
    Thanks

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Safari logs me out of webmail when I reply to email

Since upgrading to ios8.1.2, when I sign into Shaw webmail through Google on SafarI, it doesn't always remember my password, and sometimes a box comes up that I have more than one password, not true. Worst, when I try to type a reply to an email, Safari automatically logs me out.

Can you explain in a bit more detail the logging out?

Its due to one of two reasons, you have mains supply spikes/blackouts or the power supply is faulty in the router. Because it's occurring at a regular timed intervals, I'd say it's more likely to be the former. You need to check whether something in the premises  is switching on at that time, examples would be electrical water heaters on timers, etc... And also confirm that the router mains cable is plugged firmly into the socket, as if it's loose it would make it more subseptable to such spikes/blackouts.
