Safari makes PC's CPU run at 100%.

I'm a Windows OS user , and I installed Safari on my PC. At first, everything just works fine , but as I open some pages , CPU usage would be at 100%.
Of course, this does not happen every time , but it does very often at least for me. I don't konw how to deal with it. I like Safari , hope you can help me with it.

My PC runs at high rates too. And I too like to use iTunes at the same time I use Safari.
And there's no quick solution to this...at least not yet. But here are few tips and tricks that you can apply to get this thing half solved.
1. First of all, if you don't intended to watch images while browsing, You can turn it off...Simply by going to 'Edit> Preferences> Apperance (Tab)' and from there deselect ' Display images when the page opens'
2. Secondly, Don't open too much tabs if it's not needed.
3. Thirdly, if you're using Safari for a few hours. Just try to close the whole window time to time. And after reopening get back to the last session (View) by selecting History> Reopen all windows from last session'

CPU running over 100% using Roxio Toast

Hello,
I am using Roxio Toast and noticed that songs are skipping, I checked my CPU and it is going over 100%, when this happens.
My activity monitor show no other programs are running.
Any idea why my computer is running over 100% on one single program?

single threaded and can't be broken up. Most likely written before hyper-threading and not optimized. Don't feel too bad, Apple had trouble also in 2009 and hadn't caught on and had audio code in that would spike processor core and overhead the system and wasn't rectified in 10.5.7+ but took 10.6.2+ to work around.
So what version are you using and is this the latest? And what about any other processes or something? A system can't run w/o lots of other processes, even if you aren't running a main foreground program, plug-ins, background, they all do matter.
My guess is like every thread almost, more input is needed about your system.
By itself it is just being inefficient.

After quitting cpu runs at 100%

im using an external dll that runs a thread to get data and pass it to LabView. When i quit my LabView application, it usually - not always - does the following: Everything seems right, but the CPU starts running at 100%, and LabView must be restarted.
Im using Trace messages in my dll, and based on that it's pretty sure that the thread stops correctly.
Any idea?

Well, it keeps being a problem if it is your VI (or a thread associated with it) that keeps running at 100% load.
So it is possibly mandatory to dig into the code and find the area which controls the blocking thread. It could be helpful if you post your main VI of the application.
As far as i understand it, the current problem looks like this:
1) Open LabVIEW developement system
2) Open the project
3) Run the project
4) Quit the execution using the QUIT button on your user interface
5) Close the whole project
6) Reopen project
7) Rerun project
8) Quit and close project
9) Quit LabVIEW developement system
Step 1)-3) work correctly in proper timing/CPU load. Starting from step 4) you see 100% CPU load till including step 6). Step 8) again creates 100% load. Step 9) leaves the LabVIEW.exe process still active in task manager, but all windows are closed.
Is that correct? If not, please mark the differences.
What happens with blank VIs (Open LV, create empty VI, run it, close it, close LV)?
If a blank VI is working as expected, what happens if you just use a dummy VI accessing your DLL?

Safari causes my computer to run at 100% CPU Usage!

For the past few days Safari has been causing my CPU to run at high rates. This basically causes me not to be able to much while Safari drags and loads pages. I need a solution to this. I tried resetting Safari but that didn't work. Please help. Thank You.

Sluggish PowerMac G4 - CPU running at 100%

Single 800MHz
1.5GB RAM
10.5.4
Western Digital Caviar 80GB (WDC WD800BB-00JHC0) and Maxtor 40GB (4D040H2)
ATI Radeon 7500 32MB
Connected to my LAN (AEBSn) via original gigabit NIC and has just over 2TB of external USB2.0 storage.
Used only as a media server, and serves content fine but OS/application interfaces have suddenly begun to hang constantly and otherwise respond extremely slowly. I've run a repair disk on the volume, all's fine.
Activity Monitor is reporting 100% CPU activity, with the finder running at over 80%.
I've recently installed 10.3, 10.4 and 10.5 all with the same problem, so I'm left scratching my head a bit.
Any ideas?

Relaunch your Finder under blue Apple>Force Quit.
Do you shut down at night? Shut down and let it sit for an hour.

Quit and restart Safari after each hour, it's a RAM hog if you YouTube a lot.
Turn off iChat when not using. Set Mail to check manually only.

New to photoshop cc, CPU running at 100%

right, basically ive started doing abit more photography and have bought a new camera and several lenses, im currently using the trial version of photoshop cc to see if i like it but when trying to reduce camera shake it runs my CPU at 100% and gives an error message saying unable to complete.
Im using a decent gaming machine for the software to run on and have no problems playing any high end games on highest settings, dont see how editing a picture would use more CPU than a game.
Can anyone help before i buy a new cpu for it?

Bzip2 let CPU run at 100%

What is "bzip2"?
On my new Mac, "bzip2" let run the CPU at 100% every midnight on 12:30h exactly and I don't can work anymore. I read, that this is an application for compression, but I don't find it on the applications folder. Need Mac OS X "bzip2"? Can I delete it? How can I do it?

To delete it you can go to the Applications Folder->Utilities->Activity Monitor. The Activity Monitor will open showing all the computer's processes. Usinh the search feaure search for bzip2. Click it then on the top left click the quit button and the nit will quit. And stop higging the CPU until it restarts again.

IMac G5 CPU running at 100% with no programs running?

A friend of mine has an old iMac G5. Lately, in activity monitor it shows it's using 100% of the CP while no software is running. And the there's no process in the list that shows any significant CPU activity. The fans also run at full speed. Does anyone know what this could be? Software or hardware issue? Could a re-install of 10.5 help?

A PRAM reset might help, also opening the case to see whether there are any swollen or leaking caps. An Archive and Install might also prove helpful, as would increasing the RAM to its Max (2.5GB for an iSight, 2GB for other G5 iMacs).

Why *shouldn't* the CPU run at 100%?

This has bugged me for some time. You're sitting there with your Dual Core MacBook and doin a bunch of tasks....emptying trash, unzipping files, waiting for Word to launch, etc. But when you look at the CPU monitor, it says 20% or 40% or whatever. And yet, I'm sitting there wishing each of those things would complete faster.
If the computer is really WORKING, shouldn't it work as hard as possible? Why should I be waiting while my Mac is crusing along at half-speed or less???
The way I see it, there's memory, cpu, drive and bus. Shouldn't one or the other of those ALWAYS be maxed out? Assuming, of course, that you're doing a lot of tasks.

The most limiting factor, by far, will be reading and writing information to the hard drive. All of the activities you listed involve just that: reading and writing to the hard drive. While the RAM, motherboard, etc. support throughputs of hundreds of MB of data per second, the average hard drive usually only has an average sustained read/write rate of around 30 MB/sec.
Also, keep in mind that an application like Word, which is a PPC app, will be running using Rosetta, which normally results in slower performance vs. native code and also approximately double the amount of RAM usage of native code.

MDNSResponer causing CPU to run at 100%

For a while now (ever since upgrade to 10.5) my computer seems to be always running its fan. It's very sluggish and many other problems. So, today I finally decided to start the activity monitor and take a look at things. Low and behold my processor is pegged out at 100%. The guilty parting seems to be a process named "mDNSResponder".
Anybody know what this process is and why it constantly has my computer CPU running at 100%, and what to do about it?

mDNSResponder is a process that searches and publishes content automatically. It's normal for it to be going non-stop in scanning IP networks. However, it should never take more than a 2-10% of your total CPU.
The MDNSResponder is just doing what's being asked of it. In short, there's an appllication/widget/etc. that's working at elevated rates. I was surprised, for example, that by signing up for Veoh, a small amount of bandwidth was being used - continually, without my knowing it - to support their whole network. The MDNSResponder helps achieve that. A network filter does the same thing. There is some service which is doing the same thing with your computer. It's magnified if you operate in Low Power Mode, since the stream of data just doesn't stop. It operates at elevated levels when an application (like iTunes) boots.
Find the application, and then decide if you're paying a fair price. You can do your own policework by playing around with Activity Monitor (which also uses it).

Why is my CPU running always at over 100%?

So I have a late 2008 Macbook Pro, with 8GB RAM (I upgraded myself from 4GB), and I removed the optical CD drive to put in an SSD that I use as the boot volume.
I notice that my CPU will almost ALWAYS be running at 100% or more. This occurs when I use applications like Safari, Picasa, iPhoto, Dropbox (service is in the bckground should not take 60% CPU). Is there

Picasa is busy because when you start Picasa, it automatically begins a scan of your entire hard drive to locate any new photos that haven't been cataloged yet. mdworker is Spotlight, which of course is scanning your hard drive so that any file can be instantly searchable.
You mentioned Dropbox earlier, it will scan the local Dropbox folder for changed files and then use your network connection to resolve them.
But all of those apps should calm down as soon as their latest indexing pass is done...until you change something that causes them to re-index. I seriously would not worry if all of those apps use high CPU for a few minutes but use low CPU 90% of the time. That is how it should work. But if those apps use more then 50% CPU for hours on end, something is probably wrong with your system. One example might be constant I/O errors from a defective hard drive, that cause programs to think they can never quite complete a successful read of the data and so they keep trying. But I'm not saying that's exactly what it is.

PCSuite makes computer CPU max at 100%

I just installed the PC Suite software (Nokia_pc_suite_7_26_0) onto my Dell Latitude D510 using XP Pro. I'm connecting though Bluetooth. I was able to detect phone (6650) and make connection. After that, my PC hangs...CPU is at 100%. I have narrowed to the PCSuite software running. If I kill the that process the CPU is back to normal.

ness...for completeness this is PC Suite updated a few days ago, version 7.1.28 (.exe properties page)
running on Windows XP over standard Dell Toshiba bluetooth on a Latitude D810 (and I know that is a flakey piece of hardware/software in itself - bluetooth gives no end of problems).
This problem is definitely introduced by the latest version/update.
Apps run file when started manually (e.g. PCSync2, ImageStore, CommunicationCentre). Best Nokia devs go away and look at what was added and do some more testing over bluetooth...

Imac5 cpu is running at 100% with no programs running. How do I figure out what is causing this?

My fan is running constantly and the cpu is at 100% without opening any programs. It just started doing this yesterday. I erased the console logs and that didn't help. I've been looking on line for other possibilities, but not finding much. I hope someone has some ideas.

Try checking User>Applications>Utilities>Activity Monitor and see what's using up all the CPU. If nothing shows up, then your power supply unit is faulty, leading your machine to think it's overheating. You can also check in Console to see if there's any mention of maximum temperatures being exceeded (just enter those words in the little window at the upper right of the Console window).

Kernel_task and syslogd running at 100% CPU under 10.6

I was running 10.5 until recently and after having done a software update, the CPU would constantly run at 100% (and of course the fans run on high speed all the time, which is very annoying).
I found several hints on the web saying that many people have had this problem and the suggested fix was to stop syslogd, delete the asl.db file and restart syslogd:
sudo launchctl stop com.apple.syslogd
sudo rm /var/log/asl.db
sudo launchctl start com.apple.syslogd
I tried that, it didn't help.
So I thought I'd try to upgrade the MacBook to Snow Leopard, since I have the install DVD.
I did that, upgrade ran fine, but sadly the problem with the constant high CPU usage was still there afterwards.
So I wiped the hard drive (actually, I just wiped the OSX partition, not my Bootcamp/Windows partition) and re-installed Snow Leopard from scratch. (it's a "10.6.3" DVD).
I was very surprised to see that this brand new, fresh 10.6 installation was showing the same symptoms:
CPU constantly over 90% usage.
The top processes are "kernel_task" (usually at 100%) and syslogd (usually at 60% or more, with bzip2 hogging up the rest)
I have absolutely no idea what's causing this, since this basic installation of 10.6 shows the same symptoms.
If I boot into Windows XP (Bootcamp), then everything is fine: CPU usage while the computer is idle is pretty much zero and the fans are quiet.
Does anybody have any ideas?

CPU runs 100% when logging with DAQmx using card 6229

Hi!
When I start a logging using DAQmx Analog Input the computer CPU runs 100%. This causes the problem that the computer locks and the subsequent steps in the program are left without computer CPU recourse. After the logging is compleet, 1750 samples/10 channels at 250Hz, the program runs on, but the loggfile is at that point useles.
I have instaled LV 7.1.1 and am using DAQ 7.4.
Anyone that recognizes this problem?
