Safari/Mambo issues

The biggest open-source communities in the world are Mambo and Joomla. Safari STILL has serious issues with displaying their pages. Firefox can do it right, so can Mozilla. Why not Safari? All it does is validate the reaction from developers that Mac systems just don't cut the mustard in the commercial world because they're not standards compliant. Hello, Steve. Get one of your geeks to join the Mambo/Joomla open-source project and fix this please.

Safari ios7 issues on iPad Air - can't open new tabs or view other tabs.
The + sign just closes the app every single time!
In some cases, the back and forward buttons don't work.
It's driving me crazy becuase if the webpage I'm on opens and ad or tab that I don't want to look at, I can't close it and go back, I have to retype the web address in and find where I was on the site!

I, too, tried all the fixes...nothing worked.
Found another thread on this forum and looks like a lot of us are having same problem.
Next time it happens, go to SETTINGS/GENERAL/ABOUT and check to see it there is a "low memory" incident report.
    If there is:
See the discussion thread "iPad Air Low Memory Crashes".
Seems to be common....this could turn into a HUGH issue.

  • Mid-2010 MacBook Pro Safari/Graphics issue??

Hi. Below I've posted a picture of what I've been experiencing on my mid-2010 MacBook Pro that is running Mac OS X Lion (10.7.1).
Usually, my screen stays like that for a few seconds, then those little things go away. However, when I took the screenshot, my screen stayed like that for about 20 minutes. I've had this issue in both Safari and Firefox. Even updating to 10.7.1, this still happens.
What could possibly be wrong? Is it a bug with Lion or is my graphics card at fault?
I really appreciate your help! Thank you!!

    jodifromcinnaminson,
nope — one reason why the cost of Apple products in the US is low compared to prices in other countries is that the prices in other countries often include seller’s warranties which extend beyond the manufacturer’s warranty; that’s not the case in the US.
If you’re intent on purchasing no more Apple products because of how they’d handled the 15-inch Mid 2010 MacBook Pro defect, then I’d highly recommend writing a letter to Apple explaining exactly why you’ve made that decision.

  • Safari & Mail issues I am having after moving over to Safari from Mozilla

I am transitioning from Mozilla to Safari for mac and it is a very painful process. Nothing seems to work intuitively. Some issues I am having:
    In Mail
    1. When deleting the mail in my mail box, it always deletes from the bottom up and not the top down. I cannot seem to find a way to change this.
    2. Whenever I delete the mail I don't want, it greys out but doesn't leave the mailbox- even when I try to drag it to the trash, it still stays there.
    3. Each time I start the machine, the old greyed out mail duplicates itself.
    4. The mail program is always crashing (literally 5 times a day) - is it that I downloaded the beta 4 of safari?
    5. Is there an easy way to display the address book? It seems that I fuss and muss for a few minutes before it actually shows up. I am trying to upload new addresses in it and it is very difficult to open. When I click on the link on the header, a little address window comes up, but not the one for adding addresses.
    Safari:
    1. I am trying to sort my bookmarks that I imported from my mozilla program and safari doesn't allow me to show both my current bookmarks and the imported ones in the same window panes. So rather than seeing "the whole picture" of where I am clicking and dragging, I have to battle with watching a stream of bookmarks and sub bookmarks scroll by until I get to the file I want to add to. Very irritating
    2. Is there a way to set Time machine so it isn't always backing up (other than turning it off)? I don't need hourly backups, and would be happy with daily ones.
My transition from Mozilla was an ugly one, and I still have lots of pieces of Mozilla, Firefox, Thunderbird, and Seamonkey still loaded in the profiles section of the HD. Could these errant pieces be part of the problems?
There are more issues and I will post them as I detect them. I would appreciate any help
    Rick

I also see that it seems to be moving all of the mail over from my gmail account.  I didn't mean to move everything out of gmail to this computer!  Now what do I do??

  • Safari 5 issues resolved since using OPEN DNS/working fine here at WEGMAN'S

my issues have been resolved since using OPEN DNS codes. have been using the internet at home and also am using it at WEGMAN'S right now and seems to run fine. i'm satisfied! btw, cnet.com gave Safari 5 an excellent rating.

    HI,
Use Open DNS Free / Basic No more problems with DNS. Includes anti phishing filters.
For Safari. Empty the cache more often. From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Empty Cache. A faster way is: Option + Command + E on your keyboard.
And from your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Click: Change Settings next to: Proxies. That will prompt the System Preferences / Network pane
Make sure none of the boxes are selected under: *Select a protocol to configure* If there are, deselect the box, then click: OK.

  • TRY OPEN DNS OR GOOGLE'S NAMEBENCH TO RESOLVE SAFARI 5 ISSUES

    HI,
2 DAYS AGO, I EXPERIENCED ALL THE PROBLEMS YOU GUYS ARE HAVING WITH THE SAFARI 5 UPGRADE. I THEN SAW A POST ABOUT OPEN DNS CODES CLICKED ON THE ARTICLE ABOUT IT AND PLUGGED IN THE APPROPRIATE NUMBERS. HAS WORKED FINE SINCE. SOMEONE ELSE POSTED ABOUT DNS CODES AND USING GOOGLE'S NAMEBENCH WHICH I HAVEN'T TRIED SINCE THE INTERNET SPEED I AM AT CURRENTLY SUFFICES. HERE IS THE LINK FOR GOOGLE'S NAMEBENCH FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO DOWNLOAD IT: http://code.google.com/p/namebench/ USING THE OPEN DNS RESOLVED ALL ISSUES THAT SAFARI 5 HAD WHEN I UPGRADED. WORKS FINE AND I HAVEN'T EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS SINCE. HERE'S THE ARTICLE EXPLAINING OPEN DNS: http://appletoolbox.com/2010/06/safari-5-0-hangs-while-loading-pages-fix/

No, that link doesn't work but the information is correct!
Adding DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security:
If you are using a single computer: Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:

If your computer is part of a network: please refer to this page: http://www.opendns.com/start/bestpractices/#yournetwork and follow the advice given.

Plugged in the numbers for the open dns and all seems to be fine in the Safari 5 universe now!

  • I upgraded my 2009 MacBook Pro to Mavericks 10.9.2 and now gmail won't connect, Safari has issues. What's up?

Just a week ago, I upgraded from the latest upgrade of Snow Leopard to Mavericks 10.9.2, due to the news about security concerns on all Apple computers and IOS devices. I did this upgrade at an Apple store under the guidance of a "genius".
The initial upgrade worked, but as days progressed I bagan noticing long boots of the OS, then long and longer time required to connect to my gmail account. Finally, I'm unable to connect with gmail at all.  I tried using Firefox and Safari, but to no avail.
As of today, I've had difficulty in connecting with the Apple support website as well. It took several tries throughout the day to get to this place where I could post my delimma.
Have there been similar issues recently concerning the 10.9.2 so called up-grade? I'm about to connect to my backup drive and re-install Snow Leopard, which worked fine for all general purposes.

    Your profile still shows 10.6.8.

    Hello Everyone,

In my recent project which a marketing site, stuck with an issue related to Apple Mac machine.

    - any method to define the different css for these two different version browsers?
any help or pointer would be highly appriciable.
    Thanks,

  • Retina Macbook Pro with Safari display issues

Is anyone having crazy display issues with Safari on their rMBP? I'm noticing some wierd glitching going on. For instance, as I type this, it doesn't show the correct characters consistently. Sometimes when I'm in Gmail, entire portions of the interface are missing unless I move the cursor over them. Some pages don't load at all and I have to refresh. Other times I'll load a page, click a link, and then hit back to go to the previous page and it's empty.
I'm not experiencing this in third party applications like MS Office, or Chrome, or other parts of Mountain Lion (though I do suffer from the same jerky UI transitions that everyone else has, but that's a different story). Anyone else in my boat? Suggestions?

Nevermind, looks like other people have the same issues: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4145775?start=0&tstart=0
Looks like the "geniuses" have been sleeping on the job. Step up your game, Apple.

  • Safari Display issues in ebay

    Please see screen grab below.
I'm having trouble with Safari rendering my Watch List Table on ebay. Notice how the columns are shortened/squeezed. The page loads and displays correctly for an instance then switches to the narrow columns.
    • Have not noticed problem elsewhere.
    • Firefox v15.0 renders page correctly.
    • Safari v6.0.1
    • OSX 10.8.2
    • All plugins disabled.
    • Have clear caches and reset Safari
    Thanks

I have the exact same problem; but here's another twist I just discovered: I was in iTunes and I went to resize the window and every time I would resize it the window would center itself on the screen and then expand outward from there in all four directions. After I was done resizing I could move the window anywhere I wanted on the screen but as soon as I would attempt to resize it again it would re-center and do the same thing again.
I have noticed the scrolling issue in Safari, and it's not just text, things like input fields and form buttons will be mal-aligned too, and I don't think it's because the web site was designed poorly.
There have been other various graphics glitches I've come to notice as well, most of them really small or at the time I considered insignificant to notice. One that is especially annoying is the overlay from "You Control Tunes". It will flicker in and out instead of the chosen transition.
Do we have any idea what is causing this and how we can fix it or will we have to wait for an update? Please note that this is a MacBook Pro 17" from June 2007 and I'm running Leopard with all the latest firmware / software updates.
    Thanks!!

  • Safari Display Issues

    Hi,
I've just recently run into a problem with Safari's display. When I scroll down, items tend to become out of line. To fix it, I can usually scroll back up, and try again, but it's annoying. The longer the website, generally the more issues I'm having. Take eBay for example. The top of the page displays correctly, but as soon as I begin to scroll down, the new items don't align correctly, and they tend to cover up stuff directly above. Usually when I scroll up and then back down, the issue has been fixed, or something else has shifted, so I can at least read what was originally screwed up. I've also noticed issues with the display of Flash items, specifically the stock charts on Yahoo! Finance. This may be a combination of two different issues, but at any rate, browsing the internet is becoming quite stressful. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I am having the same issue with the shifting lines. Additionally, on some pages (Facebook is one, but it does it to others, too) the display "blinks" as I scan down the page. Two distinct square areas are affected. I'm posting this here because they seem to be related. Clearing the cache did nothing; it only seemed to go away after a full restart (not just logging out of my user). Any ideas?

  • Safari slowness issues...affect more than Safari...***?

Safari started giving me trouble loading pages on the 18th of November. I DO NOT use Yahoo mail or any other remote mail (except I do check mail at .mac before downloading). Absolutely no recent software updates.
Had my provider PING my computer, check signal, connected directly to cable modem vs. router....same problems.
Mostly it's that Safari is slow, gets "stuck" loading pages or intermittently fails to load pages ("can't find server"). I also notice that Mail is delayed and even System Preferences' dock icon bounces a lot and delays before opening. IE is better for speed but still is delayed.
From the posts it seems people are having various internet issues related to Safari so it seems to be something related to apps vs. individual computers.
Any idea on a fix? Could it be spyware or a virus? Should I go to another browser, and if so, how do I download it when Safari is being so naughty?
Maybe people can post what all apps and sites they are having a problem with so Apple can get a handle on this. I'm glad to see the other posts here because without knowing that others are having this problem, I'd feel like I was going crazy.

I should also add that apps like Word and Quicken load effortlessly like they should. The slowness seems to be associated with anything internet related (though I don't know why System Prefs is slowed on startup). I am using Safari 1.3.

  • ICloud, Mail, Safari, Aperture Issues

Since upgrading to Mavericks I've had issues with Mail, Safari, and Aperture failing to quit.
Also, in System Preferences, iCloud fails to load.
I have re-installed Mavericks, performed a repair permissions, and the only thing that gets me going again (until the next fail) is to force quit the applications and re-start.
Sure would appreciate some guidance here.
    Thanks, in advance.

I'll try that next time one of those applications hangs.
I did find the icloudhelper in Activity Monitor and force quit it, then did a restart.  It was back running after the restart, of course.
I'm hoping someone will help here with a permanent fix.
    Thanks for your post.
