Safari & missing 'plug-in' ??

Can anyone help ?
Everytime I go to the "pgatour.com" web site I get this message:
"Some content on this page requires an Internet plug-in that Safari doesn’t support. The application “Windows Media Player” may be able to display this content. Would you like to try?"
There is section ( small window) that plays video clips, not anymore.
I have 'Realplayer' also had 'Real One player' ( but have deleted it ).
Any ideas, I have read some threads, followed the advice but nothing.
Steve (uk)

Hi Steve,
You'll need the Flip4Mac plugin which Microsoft now provide in lieu of them no longer developing Windows Media Player for the Mac.
If you've already tried installing that, can you expand upon "Any ideas, I have read some threads, followed the advice but nothing" - knowing what you've tried may help us help you
Good luck!

  • Safari missing plug-in for video

When I try to watch a video on www.apple.com (with Safari on my iMac), the message "Missing Plug-in" is shown, instead of the video. Which plug-in do I need?

Problem solved. Safari Preferences >> Extensions: Uninstall DivX.

  • LION - Safari missing plug-in

Well, LION 10.7.1 is here....informing us "Address an issue that may cause the system to become unresponsive when playing a video in Safari"....
the  "Missing plug-in" issue has not been fixed, no change at all.
Not sure what kind of UAT testing they conduct....but its obviously not that extensive...
And no options to re-install LION Safari yourself....
So we all have to just hope someone at Apple....does something...as this is embarrassing as we cant even watch there own promo movies on there own web site...on their own software..   FAIL!

I had the same problem when I upgrade to Lion. Here is how I was able to fix the issue:
In Safari, go to Preference and then Extensions. Look for the DivX extension and delete it.
Then test to see if you can successfully view videos.
You may want to then download Perian <http://perian.org> which is a popular QuickTime component which allows you to watch many formats including DivX.

  • Safari missing Plug-ins

I just got a new iMac and love it. However I am having major problems with Safari. Safari won't reconize any of its plugins.
If I go to "HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins" I see several plugins listed (quicktime, flash, etc..).
If I open safari and select "Help/Installed Plug-Ins" it shows no plugins and is looking in "file:///Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Plug-ins.html ".
So, none of my plugins work! It is very disappointing. I have a Mac, running Quicktime and I can't view any of the quicktime movies on the Apple website.
VERY FRUSTRATED! And I have tried deleting and reinstalling the Quicktime plugin.
HELP! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    OS: 10.5.2
    Quicktime: 3.1.1

If I go to "HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins" I see several plugins listed
Are you using the Admin account as your account, or did you create a separate user account for you when you first setup the Mac? If the former, that's a bad idea, since it will make it difficult to diagnose and solve problems later, as everything would be suspect. You need to create your own account just for what you do, give it Admin privileges, and install all applications there, unless they specifically install themselves in the Admin account.
Do you have a Home/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, and if so, what plug-ins are in there?
it shows no plugins and is looking in file:///Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Plug-ins.html
No, it's not. That's the html file that generates that page; there are no plug-ins there.
If you're running 10.5.2, you should update to 10.5.4, as it will address various bugs and security vulnerabilities. It will also update Safari to 3.1.2.

I get missing plug-in error when opening my online bill which is in PDF format. I am using a 2010 Macbook with the latest version of Safari and Adobe suite installed in my computer. Why do I get this error? What should I do?

In relation to my previous inquiry regarding inability to view a pdf file using Safari...
Is it possible that I can view other online bills from other website but not this particular bill from one specific website?

  • Safari gives "Missing Plug-in" message only on .mov to .flv converted files

I've converted an iMovie file to .flv but when I try to view I get a "Missing Plug-In" message. Though I have no problem viewing Youtube or any other flash videos. Could you please try my link below. If you can view it, it tells me the problem is with my Safari. If not, then there's a problem with my converted video file. Please help me narrow this down. Here's the link. Thank you.
    http://www.firmimage.ca/35Kingsbridge2606flash.php

I've used 2 different 3rd party converters. iSkysoft iMedia Converter Deluxe & Flv Crunch but only their trial versions. Wanted to see if it works before I purchase. Could that be the issue. When I try to get file info, I only see a blank page as the icon unlike, for example the icon you see when you get info. on a Quicktime video file. Also, the "preview" option on file info. does not work, which could be telling me that there's something wrong with the converted file. Were you able to view the flash video on my link?

Safari is giving me a missing plug in message when I try to view things like movie trailers. The trailers play on Firefox, so I'm not sure what's missing from Safari.  I have Safari 5.0.6 and Mac OS X 10.5.8.

I just noticed that it won't play some newsite videos anymore either. What plug in do I need to update (if that's the problem)?

  • I get a message  missing plug-in when on safari

I get message   missing plug-n when using saffari

Adobe Flash Player and Flip4Mac also add playable extensions should the content be flash or wmv. I recommend you also download "Click to Flash" which is a Safari extension that allows you to click flash content to view (thus saving your precious battery juice).
As for RoddyM's PDF's, check this post to see if it's of any help: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2454737?start=15&tstart=0

When I attempt to watch the new video about iCloud on the Apple website, the video viewing screen is blank with "Missing Plug-In" or just 'HTML5"

    or
Click "View" menu in the Safari menu bar and click "Customize Toolbar".
From the drop down drag the default set into the Toolbar.
the one under " or drag the default set into the Toolbar"
    Click "Done".
    Reset Safari.
Click Safari in the menu bar.
From the drop down select "Reset Safari".
Uncheck the box next to  " Remove saved names and passwords".

  • Missing Plug-In and Getting Blue Squares with Question Mark

I am on a brand new pc, 64-bit Windows 7, all programs downloaded in the last week. I have used safari for years on my mac and want to keep using it on the pc but video and images are not displaying. For video content it says "missing plug-in" but doesn't tell me what plug-in I need. Some images do not display and I get the blue square with a question mark.
I downloaded a plug-in from apple but it seems to be for Firefox. I installed the 64-bit beta Flash player and it didn't help. The next site I tried to access told me I needed the Flash player so I tried downloading the regular Flash player even though I knew it wouldn't work. It didn't download and seems to have taken the beta with it, wherever it went (have searched computer). Things that don't display in safari work just fine when I switch to Chrome.
I have the latest version of Quicktime which came with iTunes. I messed with some of the default program settings, trying to get QuickTime to take over whenever possible but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.
On my mac I had used Flip4Mac to take care of similar issues. I didn't think I would have similar problems on the pc. Help anyone?

Blue box with a question mark means that images are not available now.
Servers storing those images may be down.
    Best.
