Safari movies and preview help

When I go to a website that has a movie preview or something of that kind I am not able to watch the movie. i have QuickTime Player but that doesnt help. I was wondering if anyone knows anything that i can do to fix this problem.

i have the same problem so i use firefox and that runs fine :s not sure what the problem could be, have tried a reset and computer and router reset, no help

Safari, quicktime, and Preview disappeared

Hi, i switched on my imac and safari, quicktime and preview were disappeared from my application folders, i had to reinstall again quicktime and safari but i don't know how to replace preview. How is it possible that this 3 applications are disappeared???

Use your installation disk to reinstall them as described in this article:

and then re-download the 10.5.6 combo updater for your system to update everything to the correct version.
The likeliest cause is that someone had access to your machine and deleted them for whatever reason.

Safari, PDFs, and Preview.

Alright, so Acrobat Reader was crashing safari, so I uninstalled it (TOTAL piece of junk anyways, 800mb for a pdf reader? Please.), and now when I go to a PDF in safari, it just stays at that grey window with the spinning wheel. I'd LIKE it to use preview to open it or something (Wouldn't that make sense??), or prompt to download or something...
Any way to make that happen, or at least fall back to whatever the non-acrobat reader method was?

Hi,
Safari is handling PDF's files very well.
Select in the Safari Preferences>Security>Activate Plugins
Or if you like to open PDF's NOT in Safari but in Preview than look for a PDF file you already got and select it ones, now get info, select OPEN WITH and select PREVIEW. Close window again.

What I see in the sample site is that the "sound bars" aren't
sync'd at all. They are just a looping clip that stops in diagonal
shape when clicked. And, the sound is not actually being stopped
when you click the bars. Rather, the actionscript is actually
turning the volume down, gradually. The sound is still continually
playing, you just can't hear it. This is evident in the fact that
when you restart the sound, it picks up not where you left off, but
at the point where it would have been anyway, had you not clicked
the button.
I believe that the sound is set to streaming and as such can
be dealt with frame by frame. So, your real quest is to have
someone (more knowledgable than me) provide sample code that would
begin reducing the volume of the sound object in increments as the
movie moves through frames. Something like:

Obviously, you wouldn't use frame numbers, but a variable
representing the current frame relative to the frame the movie was
in when you clicked the button.

Safari moves and shrinks

Since updating to Mavericks, Safari is resizing itself and moving to the upper left. I cannot resize or move it. If I drag Safari to another location it jumps back to the upper left. The only way to fix it is to close and reopen. It has also happened to Transmission.

Are you syncing with other devices? Mobile me?

Safari Plug-ins, pdf and Preview?

Is it possible to set Safari to use a Preview plug-in to read pdf files? I can find the list of installed plug-ins (Help: Installed Plug-ins) but I can't see any way to edit them. I don't care if Preview opens the files within Safari, or if Preview just starts up and displays the pdf files in its own window.
At the moment, when I click a pdf file link within Safari, Safari doesn't know what to do because it can't find Adobe Acrobat Reader. (I recently un-installed Adobe Acrobat Reader because I got tired of Adobe's shenanigans.)

Safari , App store , Ibook and preview won't work after the last update!

i bought my mac book pro since early 2011
and after i did the last update safari , App store , Ibook and preview won't work
when i press on it the small light on the dock light up then it goes off
and nothing open and there is no error massage show
and the bar don't change, plus about my mac don't open too
firefox and itunes work fine tho

I also deleted Safari and tried to reinstall it from the Apple website but It would not let me install it. I got to "select location" section and it would not allow me to select any of my drives because it said it required10.5.2 or newer. I have 10.5.3. Any Help?

Movie thumbnail previews in Coverflow and Grid view...not there

I'm using Snow Leopard and have both QT-X and QT 7 Pro on my MacBook Pro.
In Finder, I have a folder containing several movie types including mpeg, avi, mov, qt, m4v, mp4, flv and wmv
I've noticed that I don't see thumbnail previews for any of these movies and wondered if anybody else can see their thumbnails, either in Grid View or Coverflow
In 3-column view, the thumbail appears once the file is highlighted.
In iTunes, the thumbnail also appears (for those that can be added to the Library)
I also have the latest Perian and Flip4Mac apps installed.
I've tried re-launching Finder after deleting the com.apple.quicklook.plist file

I also tried this (deleting the Quicklook cache) and no luck, still the same issue.
I did a clean installation and this works
However, I did again the installation and imported my USER profile in FULL via the assistant when you first configured Snow Leopard (using an FULL BACKUP copy and/or Time Machine Backup) and then problem reappears
I have reinstalled DivX, Desinstalled RealPlayer deinstalled Perian and still the same issue. I cannot see the Thumbnails or the Cover Flow of the video/movie file such MPG, MPG, AVI, WMV but it works for MP4 I have for my IPod
I finally gave up and left this last installation and I did not have the energy to migrate my data, emails, settngs, etc manually.
By the way, the upgrade from Leopard 10.5.8 towards Snow Leopard 10.6 was smooth but the performance was awful specially after installing 10.6.1. With the upgrade I had the same issue with my USER account or with any, NO THUMBSNAILs for most of my videos enough though they are played correctly in Quicktime and Quicklook....

Is this a webpage that contains a link to a flv file? Please post a link to the page and tell us which link(s) are the problem flv files or else post a link to the .flv file itself.

Select/highlight the ones that you want to change in your iTunes library, do Get-Info (control-I) and change their Media Kind on their Options tab to 'Music Video' - and then similarly for the podcasts.

Black PDF file in Safari and Preview

Hi all,
On our website, we have a number of PDF files. These are produced by another company. One of these PDFs shows up black (or actually dark grey; rgb(7,3,1)) when opened on a Mac in Safari or the Preview app.
Opening these PDFs in Acrobat Reader does not show any problems, it only occurs when viewing them in the Preview app and in Safari (which uses the Preview app, it seems to me). All of our other PDFs do not have any problems.
I have been able to reproduce the problem on a MacBook running OS X 10.7.2 and Safari 5.1.2. The company that produced the PDFs says it is a configuration error on my MacBook and not their fault. I have been trying to follow a remarks from other threads that I found, but none of them solved the problem. We are now getting more and more complains from other visitors that are having the same problem.
The PDF can be found at http://www.husbanken.as/regelvrk/hb-nr.nsf/2FD1894DDA5135BCC125712D003CDE8D/$FIL E/hb9s01.pdf. We have several other PDFs at http://www.husbanken.as/regelvrk/hb-nr.nsf/WebSkjema, and the other ones have no problems.
Is anybody familiar with this problem? Is there a solution, that I can send to our clients, apart from telling them to use another webbrowser and view the files in Acrobat Reader? Has something gone wrong in producing these PDFs?

You can have Safari set to open PDF files in Preview.
Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder then click Get Info.
In the Get Info panel click: Open with
Select Preview
Click: Change all

I just purchased extra storage for my iCloud. How and where do I access it? I purchased movies and audio books to find out that I didn't have enough storage (the reason for the extra storage purchase). I have no idea where to find them now. Help?!

I purchased 4 movies and 2 audio books from iTunes only to find out my iPad2 didn't have enough storage, so I purchased more storage from iCloud.
My iTunes account only shows the 4 movies that need to still be downloaded (not the two books) After purchasing 20GB from iCloud I am still receiving the "There is not enough available storage. You can manage your storage in Settings" message. I have gone to my Settings, where it shows I have the new, extra storage. I have set all the iCloud settings as shown on the Apple website. In my iCloud settings, it shows I have 17GB available out of 25GB. In my General settings, it shows that I have a capacity of 28.6 GB, while my Available is 2.9GB. (????)
I don't know why I still can't download the movies. I wouldn't know where to go (how to get to) the iCloud if I could...
Also, iTunes has sent me receipts for the movies and audio books I purchased as well. Where are they???

Do you have the parallax effect (the 3D effect) 'on' (Settings > General > Accessibillity > Reduce Motion 'off') ? If you do then you will either need to create higher resolution versions of your images, or turn that effect 'off'.

Wallpaper, icons, and alerts shift slightly as you move your phone.
When you set a wallpaper in Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness, the photo or image will be slightly zoomed and can't be scaled to fit the screen.
If you zoom in, you will need to rescale your wallpaper to fit to the screen. You can't rescale certain photo formats, including landscape or square images.
