Safari not always loading sites

been having trouble lately with safari opening sites. it will load without any problems or delays for about 3 or 4 sites, then will stop loading and i have to force quit. It will try to load the page/site, but never gets there. won't even respond to quitting. I end up having to force quit.

  • Safari not always loading pages (especially yahoo mail)

Inconsistent loading of pages, like Yahoo mail, ESPN. Some days they load, some days they don't, while other sites load fine. As a relatively new Mac user, thought it may have been a Mac issue but after discussing with friend and in-law, who both have Macs and can load very site, all the time, well, I'm not so sure anymore.
    Suggestions? Tips?
We love our iMac. Used happily by whole family but internet/Safari issue is frustrating. Running Leopard, internet is wireless.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Webpages do not always load 1st attempt after exch...

I bought a new TP Link Router & dual aerial wireless USB adapters to solve my line speed issues as the old BT Home hub 1.5 cannot handle the new exchange.
    http://www.shop.bt.com/products/tp-link-300mbps-wireless-n-adsl-router-77S0.html
Now some websites need to be either clicked twice or ctrl+F5 to refresh the page as it does not always load the first time which is weird also getting random disconnects which do not last long then it auto reconnects!
Please does anyone have any advice for me on what to look at I am now plugged direct into the BT master socket & using wirelsss but even using wired its the same issue.
Download speeds are around 1.3Mb up are around 1mb. Still in the line learning phase as its only been 5 days since I plugged this new Router in could it just be natural for that to take longer to stabilise???

I am surprised as all variants of the Hub are compatible with Bt BB (with the exception of Infinity)

  • Flash xml - not always loading

    Hi
I have a calculator that loads an xml file which contains a
load of factors. If the user changes their details (age or sex)
then it reloads this xml file to pull out the relevant factor.
On my local disk this works fine. However, when on the server
it will work 1 or 2 times accessing and parsing the xml file
perfectly, but then will stop working and freeze for a while. It'll
then work again for 1 time and then stop again and so on. I've
attached the code that loads the xml file.
The strange thing is that whether it's working or not it
loads a 0 error code thing (success) and doesn't display "document
failed" - but with the line of text I added to access
childNode[50], it works ok 1 or 2 times, but is undefined when the
    calculator freezes.
It seems flash is being a bit hit and miss at loading the xml
file properly. Once it's loaded into flash should it be continually
available or do I need to keep reloading it every time they change
their details? If it's always available, that also doesn't seem to
    be working!
    Any ideas?

I have solved this I think - not entirely sure how.
In the above code links to a function called processBook and
passes through the value of book_xml. In declaring the processBook
function I pull this into xmlDoc_xml (function
processBook(xmlDoc_xml). Not entirely sure why as I borrowed that
    bit from a book.
Anyway, I've removed the reference to xmlDoc_xml and replaced
it with book_xml and it seems to work perfectly. I believe it the
reason is that when it goes back to that function it looks for
xmlDoc_xml which is only available the first time... something like
    that anyway...
    Thanks

I'm getting a bug where 'sometimes' the RMD metadata for a clip is not automatically loaded by Premiere for R3D clips (from Red cameras).  I have to right click on the clip, select 'source settings', and then click on 'Reload from RMD'.
These R3D files were trimmed in RedCine X.  Could that have anything to do with this inconsistency?

  • Safari not displaying web site image

I have a website that is suddenly not displaying the header image in Safari and IE5.2.
I have my suspicions that it is due to a JavaScript from Google to run their Analytics programme which I installed a few days ago, (and will shortly remove it to confirm the suspicion or otherwise.)
But first I wish to check if other people are experiencing the same problem, or if it is localized to my computer. (Need to be able to inform Google if their script is the fault and affects all Safari users or only some versions. So please check the site and report results here, including your Safari version. Mine is Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6) and Internet Explorer 5.2 for Mac.
    The site is http://www.paintmaking.com
What I see in Firefox, Netscape, Opera, and Camino is a flash title over a colored background with a photo.
Thats what I saw in Safari until recently too. But suddenly all I now see in Safari and IE is the flash title over a gray background, no photo, and above the menu bar a very thin strip of color (about 1mm, 1/16in). The sidebar images are unaffected (and those images at the side work fine in all the browsers), it is just the header.
Can you please tell me what you see and the browser version?
    Tony

Thank you to everyone who has reported what you are seeing on my website. Now I need some help to troubleshoot the problem. So far I am confused as to where the problem lays let alone what the problem might be.
I need guidance as I am running out of ideas for troubleshooting. Are there any files that I should try trashing?
Could the problem lie in my Flash player perhaps (how do I test this?
    Updates:
I can see only a gray color behind my flash title on http://www.paintmaking.com in Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6) and Internet Explorer 5.2.3 (5815.1). What should be there is a colored header image.
I have established that other people can see the image correctly, including on the same builds of Safari and IE and on the same OS (10.3.9). An exception is someone using Shiira who can only see gray in Shiira, but sees colors in other browsers including Safari.
On my computer Netscape 7.2, Firefox, Mozilla, Opera and Camino can all see the image correctly.
Safari and IE have the same problem displaying the image on all the accounts on my eMac.
I have: cleared cache with no improvement, checked Safari Preferences (Java enabled, JavaScript enabled, and 'display images as pages open' is checked.
I have removed the software that I installed recently. (MacTracker)
I have removed a piece of JavaScript added recently (from Google to facilitate their Analytics programme)
The only major thing I have done lately that is out of the ordinary is to Clone my OS X hard drive to an external drive using SuperDuper.
I don't seem to be having problems with other websites.
So how can this be? If the problem is in my computer why only the one site affected? (I checked several sites) Yet if the problem is with the site then why can other people see the site correctly?

  • Safari not showing secure site images (blue question marks)

I have Safari 4 installed on my Windows laptop. I am having a problem viewing secure sites. All that appears is the text and then blue question marks where the images/tables should be. This is not a problem when using Firefox, Chrome, or IE.
This is also not a problem on my other windows computers nor on my Mac.
I've tried resetting Safari, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Safari, nothing is working.
Any idea how to fix this?

I too am having this problem. I cannot access my gmail, ebay, facebook, or other login sites. If I attempt to access any site that requests user and password information, a safari dialogue stating "safari can't verify the identity of the website "...."". So far I've assumed that all of my certificates are comprimised. I don't know how to delete my certificates to get new ones as this information is not posted anywhere.

  • Whenever I open safari, it always loads to the last page I was at rather than my homepage. How can I fix it so that my homepage is what shows up?

My homepage is apple.com/startpage/ and when I open a new window, it is there as my home page, but when I open safari for the first time, it's the last site I was on. Can I change that so it's always apple?

As suggested by ricardofromloma linda quit Safari from Safari menu.
or when you launch Safari hold the shift key down.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software -- potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions -- they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
Below are four lines of text in monospaced type, which are UNIX shell commands. They’re harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of running these commands, search this site for other discussions in which they’ve been used without any report of ill effects.
Some of the commands will line-wrap in your browser, but each one is really just a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
To begin, launch the Terminal application; e.g., by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search.
    Step 1
Copy or drag -- do not type -- the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk ' !/apple/ { print $6 $7 } '
Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.)
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|com\.vix|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk ' !/0x|apple|edu\.|org\./ { print $3 } '
    Step 4
    ls -1A {,/}Library/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Sta}* 2> /dev/null
Important: If you synchronize with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, change it to something like “[email protected]” before posting.
Remember, this is all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer -- no typing, except your password.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • IOS 8 Safari not working with sites using Windows Authentication (again)

A testbed of iPhones and iPads were updated to iOS 8 today. When trying to access intranet sites in our company that use Windows (IIS) Authentication, it challenges for the login and password 2 or 3 times, then nothing - just hangs.  These sites work fine on iOS 7 devices - and worked on the same devices that were upgraded.
Windows Authentication was broken in iOS 7.0 also and not fixed until a later update. Why does this keep getting broken?

This was a thread that discussed this when it was broken in iOS 7.0...
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5327078?start=0&tstart=0
I just tested with Chrome on the iPhone upgraded to iOS 8 and it works fine. It is Safari that is broken again.
Of course, Apple won't give us a way to make Chrome the default browser when links are clicked in emails, so it's not exactly a solution.

  • Safari not opening web sites or partly

All other internet devices can open pages no problem, For a long time i have been having trouble with Safari my main browser.
It either  come up blanks , showing no server found . or like the picture, all the info missing   Some tomes fox does this too but Chrome is fine. Safari just getting worse, I have cleaned and cleaned the catch. its still happens.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Safari Not Opening Certain Sites????

I am encountering some trouble with this new Safari set up. Most recent issue is, tried to open a site on my computer that worked yesterday. Contacted sites webmaster and they told me that Microsoft updated its internet browser and that if I don't have the correct settings on my brower, I will not be able to view the site. They told me to contact my ISP to have them walk me thru fixing the trouble. My ISP, verizon told me that this is not their issue but to contact Apple. I just want to know how I can view my website now? Firefox won't even work on it. It is just my work resume system and it does work at my office via a Microsoft Internet browser, just not with my Safari any more. I don't know what I need to do to fix this. Please help!

    BQuinni wrote:
Yang, I appreciate the response. I tried your suggestion out and it didn't work. I keep getting this message:
The Web server you are attempting to reach has a list of IP addresses that are not allowed to access the Web site, and the IP address of your browsing computer is on this list.
Your IP address identifies your home network - or whatever network you are using to access the web. (That is, your home modem or router or your work modem or router.) This means that your location has been blocked from accessing this web site. I suppose this could be something automated by the web site you are trying to visit. It can also be done deliberately by the administrator of the web site. (Edit: One thought is that you might have been locked out due to having tried the wrong username and password too many times, or for some similar security issue.)
Trying to access the site via a different web browser isn't likely to change that, since it is your location ("your browsing computer") that is being blocked. The only thing you can do if that message is accurate is contact the IT people who manage your workplace's web site again, this time giving them that error message so they know that this is not a problem with your web browser or the Mac OS - it is a very specific problem due to your IP address being actively blocked by the server where the site is hosted.

  • Safari Not Allowing Secure Site

I updated my Mac Software to OSX 10.4 this morning and I've been noticing some issues with Safari 2.
The main issue is it won't let me open pages that require a secure authentication (for example it wouldn't allow me to access to login page for the Apple forums -- I'm here with Firefox now). It brings up a page that says cannot open page.
I've also tried it with my bank and credit card and get the same response.
Any idea what's the problem here?

You're welcome. Glad you got this sorted out. The anchor keychains are critical for accessing in Safari any secured site.
Regarding 10.4.6, the most stable version of OS X is either 10.4.9 or 10.4.10 Also, these two versions contain the latest security upgrades for Safari.
Download access for 10.4.9 may be found here. As with the previous post's recommendation about 10.4.10, important to "repair permissions" etc. if installing. Also, do not use the computer during the installation phase.
