Safari not connecting on Windows 7 - good net connection

I apologize if this was addressed before.  I looked through the forum and did not see anything about it.  I have updated at least 5 systems to Safari 5.1 (PC and Mac) and all have gone fine except one Windows machine.  Since updating this machine a few days ago I cannot use Safari to connect to the internet.  The browser opens fine, recognizes if it is not the default browser, and spins as though it is contacting the server, but never loads the page.  There is a problem with Safari, Webkit2WebProcess.exe, and this PC.  To save all the basic suggestions here is what I have done:
1. Emptied the Cache
2. Reset Safari
3. Deleted Safari
4. Re-installed Safari
5. Deleted and Re-installed all Apple software on system (Itunes, Bonjour, Safari, etc.)
6. Deleted Firefox, Safari, Apple Apps, updated everything, installed Safari
7. Turned off Windows Firewall
8. Added Safari to list of approved programs in Firewall
9. uninstalled flash
Obviously none of this worked.  The net connection is good.  Firefox, Chrome, IE, etc. all work fine.  Safari and now iTunes cannot seem to use the connection though.  Even more interesting, now when I launch Safari 5.1 on this PC the CPU jumps to 100% usage.  Safari and Webkit2WebProcess.exe split the processing power 50/50, then just hang there.  I have let it run for hours just to be sure and the programs never get any further along.
Any ideas why Webkit2Webprocess.exe and Safari are such processing hogs on this system and never advance further than launch?  Any ideas what I can do to resolve this issue?
Thanks Dennis

I have the Same problem i did try every thing , IE, chrome and firefox are working fine, safari and iTunes are not connecting to the internet

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Safari not connecting to internet after software update

I have just completed a software update and now safari will not connect to our wireless internet... airport says it has full bandwidth and other macs connected to the wireless connection are working without any fault.... has anyone got any ideas????
    Thanks!!

    Hello Sarah:
As you probably have already guessed, quite a number of things might have happened.
My network is Ethernet, so I am not much help with wireless networks. However, I think I would (if I were you), run an archive and install:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
An archive and install will place a fresh copy of OS X on your system while, at the same time, preserve your files, programs, and settings. It is always a good idea, however, to have a good backup strategy before any software changes. You should then run software update to bring your system to a current level (in your case, OS X 10.4.11 is current, I think).
The A&I should eliminate any system software issues.

  • Airport card connected but safari not connected to internet

Running os 10.4.1 on IMAC g5 with airport card.
i am having some wireless network issues. when i try to connect to the linksys router that my airport card locates it tells me that i am connected to the network; but when i try to load a page in Safari it tells me that i am not connected to the internet. Internet Explorer gives me the same message.
i have been able to test my airport card by logging into another (neighbor's) network (just for testing). it received DHCP from that router and assigned a 198.162.x.x. IP address for my computer. i originally had the same issue as far as being connected but safari wouldnt open web pages. i manually plugged in DNS numbers 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220 from OPEN DNS.com and Safari instantly loaded web pages.
when i try to do the same on the linksys network my airport card connects but Safari once again will not connect to the internet. I am receiving a DHCP IP address automatically from that router but cannot connect to the internet...
PLEASE HELP ME (it's driving me crazy!)

Oh man... since my last post (all of 15 minutes ago) my iMac now cannot connect to the network at all. The network status menu widget shows it as being connected (sometimes), but it can't actually connect to anything.
Just as an experiment, I turned off MAC address filtering on the base station. Didn't help.

  • Safari not connected to internet

As usually i execute the software to connect, it says that everyting is ok by i realized that i don't receive bytes and and the end safari says that i'm not connected to the internet.
I don't remember to made something strange on iMac like downloading something; i was only connected to skype and then the iMac automatically shutdown (using save energy in system preference).
    Can someone help me?!

  • Safari not working for windows vista

everytime i start up safari it just quits unexpectedly and windows just can't seem to find a solution for this problem. wondering whether it's a bug and whether there's any updates for it!
    thanks!

    Hi,
    Welcome to  discussions
Help others to help you by posting what you have tried to stop the crashing.
In mac, cleaning up internet clutter has been known to help.
    Cookies, cache, Icons folder etc...
Enable the debug Menu in Safari that may help, if like Mac there are net files there you can empty.
To enable the Safari debug menu on Windows
    C:\"Program Files"\Safari\Safari.exe /enableDebugMenu
See Macosxhints for more details, on how to use the command.
Ok leave I you to the Window users hope someone can help you get it sorted, albeit i hope something I posted helps.

  • Safari not connecting to server. Internet working fine.

I keep getting this example response: Safari can’t open the page “http://www.cnn.com/” because it could not connect to the server “www.cnn.com” to every single page I try to open. My internet connection is fine b/c AOL is working fine. But I much prefer Safari. I read some other post and people said something about PicLens being a problem but I cannot find it InputManager in Library anywhere.
Does anyone else have an idea about how to get it connecting to the server again?
    Thanks!

    Hi tmac:
Extenders/haxies are third party code that some people install on Safari (bad idea, IMHO, but each person is different).
You may use your original software install (do not actually install) DVD to run repair disk.
When did the problem begin? Have you made changes before the problem began?
    Barry
P.S. I will be heading out of town, but will be able to check mail occasionally (I am not going away).

  • Safari not connecting when entering website without

This is really weird but I want to know if anyone else is having this problem since upgrading to SL. When I enter a website "apple", the internet does not connect me to the website. I remember clearly that the sites would work when excluding "www" and ".com".
    Anyone else having this problem?

I've noticed the same issue. Prior to SL, I was able to type in anything into the domain window without adding .com, .org, .edu, etc.. and it would quickly go to the site. (example: I typed in "gmail" and it would take me to gmail.com) Now, if I do not add the .com when typing, the status bar shows "looking up gmail..." and it takes forever to load, if it loads at all.
I have noticed that sometimes it will load certain pages that I visit frequently with better success, but not all the time. But for the most part it's extremely slow when you don't add .com, .org, etc.
This was not an issue when I was running leopard.

  • Safari not displaying active window

Safari has stopped displaying any active windows. Safari is open and the menu says windows are open but I cannot see them. When I open a new window it seem to flick off to the right of the screen like there is a second monitor. All I see is the normal desktop. I cannot see any safari window.
Please help with possible causes and fixes

Thank you to all that responded. I seem to have fixed the problem by merging screens in the displays utility. I do appear to have two screens/displays set up, the other is Sony tv monitor. This was a leftover from when I experimented with Twonky, not a huge success.
I am using osx 10.8 latest update and will be looking for a way to delete this other monitor set up when I get home later today.

  • Safari not connecting to internet

was working before but no longer

Please let us know if you ever figured this out. My mom is having trouble connecting to the internet via Safari and iChat. However, the Mail app and Internet Explorer work just fine. (She's got a good IP address through an ethernet connection. She's using Leopard 10.5.6 and this problem may have started after the last system upgrade.)
Very odd, and very frustrating. Since iChat doesn't connect, I can't take control of her screen and troubleshoot from afar.

This is really bad. I have noticed this problem long time ago. 8 months ago, switched computers and same problem. Anyone experiencing the same problem? If its not supported anymore apple should state that on download page

UPDATE:  We were able to further identify the root cause of the problem to be when anonymous access is turned off and the subweb is set up to use basic and integrated authentication (IIS settings).  To test this, we removed integrated authentication (leaving only basic authentication in place) and the problem was fixed.  However, this is not a viable solution as we need to use integrated authentication (for various other reasons).

  • Safari not connecting to server on some web-sites

My son was using the Internet when a storm went through last week. The power went off and back on. We sign onto the Internet and some pages won't come up. The error message states the it cannot connect to the server. I've checked my settings and I know they are correct when connecting the my provider because some pages will come up and I can still download my e-mail through Entourage. I was going to re-install Safari, but I have version 10.9 of Tiger and that would put be backwards. What can I do to resolve this?

I have been reading up on some other questions and tried to re-install Safari from my Tiger disc. It did not work. I even dragged Safari to Trash and re-installed again from scratch. It still doesn't work. Safari shows version 2.0.4. I have to use my son's laptop or the one at work to even connect to the Apple website. I'm just an ordinary person who uses the Internet and I don't know much about the "behind the scenes" like threads. I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter. I want my full Internet back. Thanks.

  • I have a problem with Safari not connecting on my IPad with WiFi

IPad 3 or 'new IPad 'with cellular data. I have a problem with the WiFi not working more than a couple of times.  When I check settings the connection is still showing as strong.   To regain access to the Internet, I have to turn  the WiFi off and then back on.  Then it will work a time or two and stop again.  I don't want to have to use my data plan when I am sitting right beside the router.
The WiFi signal is good, I have two laptops in the house that have no problem running on it with no interruptions.
Appreciate any help you can supply!

THanks, I tried all those and it is still the same erratic connection.
I also located the below  information,  and it didn't fix it either.
To reset the iPad's WiFi connection, simply use the option at the top of the screen to turn WiFi off. All of the WiFi settings will disappear. Next, simply turn it back on again. This will force the iPad to search for the WiFi network again and rejoin.
If you still have problems, you can renew the lease by touching the blue button to the far right of the network's name in the list. The button has a ">" symbol in the middle and will lead you to a page with the network settings.
Touch where it reads "Renew Lease" towards the bottom of the screen. You'll be prompted to verify that you want to renew the lease. Touch the renew button.
This process is very fast, but it could correct some problems.

  • Safari not connecting but Firefox working

Have been having problems connecting to my home wireless system today. Finally resolved that issue but now only the Firefox browser is working not safari. I'm sure I've reset something wrong but what any ideas?

Use Spotlight to search for a file called login.keychain. Users/YourUserName/Library(which is a hidden folder and won't show in Finder)/Keychains. Click Go in the menu bar then Go to Folder and type in /Users/YourUserName/Library and hit the enter key. Look down the list of folder and find Keychains. The "login.keychain" file should be inside.

  • Safari not connecting to websites

I am have problems with Safari connecting to certain servers.  Most of the servers are Yahoo based.  Either it connects, sort of, without pictures and sometimes slowness or it doesn't connect at all.  A while back in the update notes for OS 10.8.1 it said that there was a fix to the problem of Airport express having difficulty connecting to websites with "long addresses".  I am on 10.8.2 and am still having the problem.
I have contacted some of the website hosts and no one seems to know what is going on.  They blame Apple's Safari.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

I started having this problem right after I got my Airport express.  I posted a notice in these forums about not being able to connect my Playstation 3 to it because it was not communicating to the Playstation network, (for the same reason).  I managed to get that working but the Yahoo website problem did not go away.  I also have the same problem using Firefox.
Another person mentioned having the same problem and it seemed they fixed it by doing this:  System Preferences > Network > WiFi > Advanced > Hardware > Manually > MTU: Custom > 1300
I haven't tried this yet because I'm not sure if it will cause other problems, most likely not.
