Safari not connecting to server on some web-sites

My son was using the Internet when a storm went through last week. The power went off and back on. We sign onto the Internet and some pages won't come up. The error message states the it cannot connect to the server. I've checked my settings and I know they are correct when connecting the my provider because some pages will come up and I can still download my e-mail through Entourage. I was going to re-install Safari, but I have version 10.9 of Tiger and that would put be backwards. What can I do to resolve this?

I have been reading up on some other questions and tried to re-install Safari from my Tiger disc. It did not work. I even dragged Safari to Trash and re-installed again from scratch. It still doesn't work. Safari shows version 2.0.4. I have to use my son's laptop or the one at work to even connect to the Apple website. I'm just an ordinary person who uses the Internet and I don't know much about the "behind the scenes" like threads. I would greatly appreciate any help on this matter. I want my full Internet back. Thanks.

Keyboard didn't function when it is not the text bar in some web sites

I find that there is a big problem that I can't use the keyboard when I use the Safari or Firefox home on some web sites which isn't a text bar, I can only see it but can't type anything there, also there isn't any keyboard shortcut ? Actually I can't commit to buy the iPad also because of this. What to do?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.
You can't attach a screenshot to the first post that starts a thread, but you can do that in subsequent replies.
Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
You can check the network.http.* prefs on the about:config page.
Reset network.http prefs to the default value via the right-click context menu -> Reset if they are user set (bold).

Safari not connecting to server. Internet working fine.

I keep getting this example response: Safari can’t open the page “http://www.cnn.com/” because it could not connect to the server “www.cnn.com” to every single page I try to open. My internet connection is fine b/c AOL is working fine. But I much prefer Safari. I read some other post and people said something about PicLens being a problem but I cannot find it InputManager in Library anywhere.
Does anyone else have an idea about how to get it connecting to the server again?

Extenders/haxies are third party code that some people install on Safari (bad idea, IMHO, but each person is different).
You may use your original software install (do not actually install) DVD to run repair disk.
When did the problem begin? Have you made changes before the problem began?

Safari won't display graphics for some web sites

There are some sites that Safari won't display all of the graphics. For instance, nissanusa.com opens to a blank page with a little "feedback" symbol in the lower right corner. Similarly, the infiniti.com page has some text but no graphics. Both pages open fine on Firefox. There are other pages, but I prefer not to have to switch back and forth between browsers. Am I missing a plug-in that I don't know about?

Sorry, Guys. Somehow I screwed up when I installed the new Safari with Leopard. I don't remember accessing the preferences for Safari and thought they remained the same as for Safari 2. However, upon checking, I discovered the "enable plug-ins" box unchecked. Checking it solved all of the web site problems.
Peter, Thanks for your response. For informational purposes, on Safari 3, the "enable Flash" button is no longer hidden in the Mime settings tab. Now it's on right on the advanced page of the Quicktime preferences.

Flash does not connect to server in some computers

hi, i have this thing: there is an app that has been finished (i hope) and it seems to work ok, this flash loads about 1Mb of flash app, then loads some stuff from the server via xml, generated through a script. as i said, it works ok in some computers, but somebody tells me that in other devices, the flash loads fine, but it gets stuck while loading from the server (it wont go further than the splash theat says 'loading contents'). Since is flash, i assume it is computer independent (it is not like the html, where each device may chow it different according to browser and setup; since is flash it will show and load just as the flash would load everywhere else); but as it seems it gets stuck right when loading the xml, after the flash has loaded (the flash loads the xml from the server), what may be causing this? is there any 'flash option' that may be interfering the flash from loading the xml content?

exactly that; It loads a flash video which weights about 1 meg, which is used to edit and create content. After the flash finishes loading, it will try to load from the server the current state of the content, and it reads it from a script in xml form. The content editor (the flash) weights about 1 meg; the xml is generally very short, but can change size, and is the only thing it loads, besides data from a static text file that has not changed. In some computers, it loads ok, in other computers, it loads the flash editor but gets stuck after that (it does not load the xml or so it seems, so it neither jumps to the menu or to the error frame)

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

You haven't provided much information, such as what type of router you have? If you entered the encryption key as the password as opposed to the router name you have selected? If you have WEP or WPA? Try this and see if it helps.
Settings>Safari>Clear cookies and data.
Now close Safari completely. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then "swipe up" or "drag up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Safari Cannot Connect with Server (mountain lion) on wifi

I Posted this under Mountain Lion as Safari had no connectivity issues for me when I got my mbp and it had lion installed and ran beautifully-
NOW my apple (s) run fine on mountain lion
for a little bit,
and then I get "Safari Cannot Connect to Server"
Now during this frequent occurance the APP store hangs and hangs as well.
This is most annoying-
The only way to use my apple products after this happens is to restart them
and then they work until they go into sleep mode,
sometimes they screw up before that and then
"Safari Cannot Connect to Server"
my Airport utility shows that it is scanning for networks-
When I was right in the middle of buying something from amazon-- I had to go to my decrepit old windows xp connected up only for cox email to complete the transaction-
This is not acceptable. Since it occurs on both of my apple computers and only started when I installed mountain lion.
This has continually gotten worse to the point I must restart my laptop continually-
Apple better get the lead out of their butts and fix this glaring fault- or should I install another web browser?

I found the solution to my problem on a different forum. Turns out for some reason the anti-virus software that I run was interferring with my browsers' connecting to the internet. Once I disabled the web protion of the anti-virus my problem went away.
I have a question to Kaspersky Security, hopefully will find out what was the root cause.

Biggest bug is that your key caps key gets stuck. Repost, without the all caps stuff, which is tantamount to shouting, and maybe we can read what your problems are all about.

Ipad 2 can not connect to server after 2 day internet outage

Situation:
Internet access was down 2 days and was just restored
Restarted router
iPad 2 connected to appropriate wifi network, but got error message "could not connect to server" when using Safari. Also, could not access any other internet related service like web email.
Other devices --- iPad air, Mac, PC laptop and 2 iPhone 4s ---- were able to connect and access internet successfully.
Actions Taken:
Powered off iPad 2 and then restarted it. No luck.
On iPad 2, turned off wifi setting and then turned it back on. It connected to appropriate network, but still could not connect to server.
Reset router again --- no luck.
Question:
Any suggestions?

Try the following:
1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
3. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo

No, I have a Mac and my email connects via our pacbell account we've had for years. However, something in the Preferences/Accounts is not correct I am guessing. Also, it asks for the password and if I put it in and click save through general or viewing, it's NOT saving it and still not allowing me to get email. My husband tried reading about this through our AT&T acct and said to change the incoming server to imap.mail.yahoo.com and outgoing smtp.mail.yahoo;[email protected], but now I can't receive or send any email on my Mac. In advanced not sure if it should be Port of 465 or 900 something or other and SSL checked or not. I called AT&T and they want to take over my machine by charging $15/mos for a year to fix this. Ridiculous.
So, everytime prior to yesterday, when my husband messed around with it, I was getting a POP needs password box, typed in my password, but to no avail..Then it Keychain password popped up and assumed it was the same, but there's no way to change or modify it even using the new password my husband set up through AT&T. I am at a complete loss.
I can access mail through yahoo mail and it takes me to AT&T Yahoo Mail, but no contacts are there so needless to say this is a pain.
I appreciate any assistance you can give me so I can get back on my email as I have for 4 years.
