Safari not displaying web pages correctly

I dont know if its my inexperieince, something to do with settings or what but I am finding some of the web pages I am receiveing are not displaying correctly.  For example a card company sent me an online form to complete but when I tried to read it some of the information was displayed on top of more information making the whole thing garbled and indeciperable, on another website there was an area with a list of information held in a box but when I tried to read the information it would periodically jump about yet I was no where near the mouse. Both pages are fine on my husbands windows PC. There have been other incidents like this making the transition from windows to Mac very painful.  Is this something that can be remedied or are we stuck with it?

When I experience the problem, I sometimes have to zoom in or out, to get the text to be readable.

  • Why is Safari not displaying some pages correctly?

Safari seems to be messing up again.  Had this problem quite a while ago.  It's not displaying some pages correctly.
Notice the 2 enclosed screen shots.  I went to purchase something (no personal info in the jpgs)
Notice the W-Safari.  Little trash cans by the purchase items missing as well as the submit button and a few other things.  So I opened Chrome.
Notice in the W-Chrome, everything is displaying correctly.
I've had problems like this some time ago but I thought they were fixed.
Thanks for any suggestions or help.

  • Safari not displaying web text correctly...

Under my admin account, in Safari, lots of sites displays text inaccurately, namely each letter presents as a capital A in a square box, while what I assume is background/template where text is in effect graphic displays fine...
    Firefox displays the sites accurately...

It looks like you have a problems with the LucidaGrande font.
Here's a Quote from Kurt Lang on this subject:
+A’s with boxes around them is always a sign of trouble with the main system+
    +font, Lucida Grande.+
+Quick possible fix is to remove ALL font cache files from the system to see+
+if it's just bad cache data. For that, you need to use OnyX or other utility+
+which will remove both system and user cache files. A Safe Mode boot won't+
+work since it only removes cache data from the user account you do a safe+
    +boot to.+
+If after that the problem returns, then Lucida Grande itself is damaged and+
    +needs to be replaced.+

  • Tried everything, and Firefox still will not display web pages correctly. Please help!

I'm running the latest version of Firefox, and it recently started to lag. I was looking through these forums for an answer, and a bunch of people recommended to reset Firefox. I did so, and then the browser started to act very weird. When I go to websites such as Facebook and Youtube, it's just a bunch of black text along the left edge of the page. No images, and no illustrations like usual. All of the pages work perfectly in different web browsers, so it must be a problem with Firefox. I've tried everything under the sun to fix it, but still nothing. I tried re-installing, deleting the cache and cookies, and managing the privacy settings for the app. I really want to get Firefox back to normal, ASAP. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! :)

"An error exist on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem."
Any ideas how to get rid of this? Realistically its not practical to contact them, nor the other 1,000,000 web site owners whom host pdf's.
I really would like to disable the pop up only.
Seem to get it on quite a few PDF's. This web page seems to have quite a few that produce the problem.
    http://www.2010.cannell.co.uk/manuals/manuals_porsche.html
click on the link to the pdf, scroll down a few pages and it pops up.
I do not get the error when using reader 10, only the new 11.0.0.1 version.

    Hi Pat,
No problem withthe link you supplied.
This is one that has the problem "948 Cayenne Owners Manual - 2008 - Turbo" http://www.2010.cannell.co.uk/manuals/manuals_porsche.html
Just FYI, I look after 8000 clients, have the same problem on 3 of my test machines.

  • Safari Not Diplaying Web Pages Properly

This has really been annoying me, and today I've tried everything to fix it...
For some reason Safari will not display web pages properly. The problem occurs in different ways, sometimes varying between page loads. The one example that illistrates the nature of the problem best is Apple's iPhone page.
I have a snapshot of what I see when I load the page in Safari.
    http://img.torgo.org/offsite/other/safari_iphone.jpg
As you can see in this snapshot, the black background that is supposed to be part of the page is not displaying black. This is obvously indicating a bug as apposed to bad css/styling, as I would think Apple's most recently added web page would be the one page that should display properly.
This problem is not limitd to missing backgrounds (though it's one of the more regular issues). My own blog is not displaying all the text in the right color (the color is supposed to be white, but between reloads some to all of the text displays in black).
I've tried empting safari's cache, resetting safari, and deleting the com.apple.safari.plist file in my preferences folder, but none of these had any effect... Furthermore I've also tried using different user accounts, and as of now they ALL display this pattern...
The only thing I cannot seem to try is to boot into 'safe mode' and see if it still occurs. This is because I just learned if I hold the shift key down to do so without fail every time my system shuts off at about the time it usually switches from the apple screen to the loading progress bar screen, but that is obvously unrelated to the Safari issue.
I'm using Version 2.0.4 (419.3) on 10.4.8 intel core duo (origional MacBook)...
2.0 GHz MacBook (Black) w/512 MB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

Bobby, sorry to hear of this.
Good that you tried this in another user, and with the same thing happening there, this lets us know you have a system wide issue.
Since safemode isn't working for you at the moment, try doing a PRAM reset and a PMU reset
    PRAM - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=2238
    PMU - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303319
    then try safemode...
if it's still doing the same thing, then I suggest you try an Archive/Install w/preserving users and network setting; this walks you through that - http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
if it still doesn't work after that -
    • back up all you files to an externald HD, CD/DVD, etc..
    • boot to install disk 1
    • launch disk utility
    • partition the HD (you'll see it's ONE volume scheme) chnage it to like 4, partition it, then change it back to 1 and partition it then perform a clean install of OSX
if it doesn't work after that, there is a hardware issue, contact Apple

  • Print Problem - PDF is OK on Windows 7, but OK on Windows XP with "Acrobat Reader An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem."

I have received a PDF which prints fine in Windows 7 but with Windows XP I get "Acrobat Reader An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem." and a blank piece of paper passes through the printer. I appreciate that Windows XP is no longer supported but I would like to think that the solution to this problem is not too difficult!
    I have tried Acrobat 9, 10 and 11.
Any advice (apart from use Windows 7! ) would be most welcome.
    Many thanks.

If you use the same Adobe Reader versions with the same PDF on Windows 7 and XP, then I would expect the outcome to be the same.
Is this a local or online PDF?
If local, is the file really exactly the same?
    If online, in what browser?

  • Error in Acrobat 8: An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly...?

    Hi,
We perform the e-signing on any PDF using our custom e-signature plug-in. Once that's done, when we try re-opening the PDF in Acrobat version 8.0.0.0, we get the following error:-
"An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem"
Please note that this error occurs intermittently and is NOT observed in Acrobat 7 or 9.  Also, when a plain PDF is opened (i.e. a PDF without any signature on it) then there is NO error.
Could you let me know what could be the issue here? I read it in Acrobat 8.1.3 release notes that such an error was a known bug in version 8.0.0.0 (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407016.html), but I am not sure of its cause.
    Let me know your comments/suggestions.
    Thanks!

I am getting the same error even in Acrobat version 8.1.3.
Additionally, I noticed that if we click on menu ‘Advanced->Sign&Certify->Preview Document’, then we get a notification as “This document is not PDF/SigQ compliant and may display inconsistently”. On clicking  ‘View report’ on that notification, the below dialog pops up. It has errors listed as:-
Code 4000 : Unrecognized PDF content. The document contains PDF content or custom content not supported by the current version of Acrobat.
Code 4002: PDF content contains erros.
However, if we sign the PDF using default adobe signature functionality and reopen that PDF, the error does NOT come and the notification also says ‘This document is PDF/SigQ compliant’.
Can anybody please suggest what could be missing in the custom sign that we apply? Is it because of any of the missing fonts or any other resources?
    Awaiting reply!
    Regards.

  • An error exists on this page. acrobat may not display the page correctly.

While opening a pdf document it shows an error as "An error exists on this page. acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who has created this pdf to correct the problem". The pdf was made in 1.4 Adobe 5.x version. Any suggestions.

I suggest you contact the person who has created the PDF in order to fix the problem.

  • Why will safari not load web pages with the prefix "fhp"?

Why will safari not load web pages with the prefix "fhp"?

Because it doesn't recognise them as valid addresses - just as the error message  says.
Firefox is similar : Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (fhp) isn't associated with any program.
Where are you seeing this problem ?.

  • Safari not opening web page with 10.4 thru 10.6 either on wireless or direct connect Cat 5, any ideas?

    Hello,
Have a 2006 MBP core duo that Safari seems to stall and not load web pages using wireless or CAT 5, have reloaded the OS starting with Tiger and have progressed thru Snow Leopard and still no luck, I-chat works no issues and have done all the updates both wireless and via CAT 5, any suggestions?

Try emptying the Safari cache more often.   Command + Option + E
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, from your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Cllick Change Settings from the Proxies pop up menu. That will launch System Preferences for you.
Deselect any checked boxes on the left under Select a protocol to configure then click OK.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

  • Safari not loading web pages

My mom's Powerbook is no longer able to load web pages through Safari. Her email works, as does iChat, so it isn't her internet connection. Other users on the same network can load web pages, so it isn't the service provider. I have had her reset safari, as well as remove the preferences file, and the same thing happens (the 'loading' message appears but nothing ever loads).
Any suggestions what to try next?
    Thanks!
    Brian

    HI Brian,
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache.
If that doesn't help, go to ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/ Move the Cache.db file to the Trash
    If that didn't help...
Go to ~/Library/Internet Plugins and /Library/Internet Plugins. If there are plugins in either of those folders, move them to a temporary location on the Desktop. With Safari open, from the Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences and click the Security tab. Make sure Enable Plugins is selected. See if Safari can load web pages. If not, move those files back to the appropriate folder.
Go to /Library/Input Managers. Move any input managers from that folder to the Desktop and relaunch Safari.
Might be a web clip causing the problem. Open Dashboard and remove any web clips.
If she is running Tiger 10.4.11, open System Preferences/Software Updates - Installed Updat4es and make sure she has the 2009-002 Security update installed. If not, download and install it here.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/SecurityUpdate_2009_002__Tiger_PPC
If her PowerBookG4 has the original hard drive, 40 or 60GB?, it might be a lack of free disk space.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*

KHTML doesn't work, but I also have WebKit KPart for Konqueror which does display the page correctly.
I do have rekonq installed, but I prefer Konqueror over it. Yes I prefer Konqueror, even though rekonq is fine it's just doesn't feel right.
I hope that it either becomes more Konqueror like before becoming a KDE default browser or they just rebuild Konqueror to use WebKit.

  • Safari not enlarging web page

Safari has stoped enlarging the page in the sense of the width. I have a page exactly the width of a iFad and no larger. Sites concerned are newspapers.

Using Command Zoom does widen the the page. I usually don't use that however because it also makes things blurry as if out of focus, especially the photos. And the menu bar is also harder to manage.
I will try to upload screen shots. The fact that there are words that are "cropped" is exactly the problem I am talking about. In addition, this is NEW, that is before this version of Safari the whole web page was widened as well as the type becoming larger. I really liked the proportional management (much better than on Firefox) because it exactly filled my screen.
Here are some screen shots. Whoops. Can't figure out how to post screen shots here. The washington Post is the worst. After a few click (two or three) the entire lead headline becomes distorted and blocks part of the page.
