Safari not displaying website comments

Since the latest update to Safari in Mavericks 10.9.4, I no longer can see comments to articles at huffington post. When I open the same page in another browser, the comments are there. Anyone know a way to fix this?

From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab.
Click:   Remove All Website Data
Then delete the cache.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If nothing above helped, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

  • Safari not displaying websites correctly

I bought a new Mac Mini yesterday, The Mac updated itself, there was a long list of different items it needed to download and update. After restarting the Mac, I opened Safari and clicked through a few websites, the websites first display as though they have been zoomed into, then when I try to scroll down the page the images and text go out of sync and into each other basically overlapping each other. I am using a vga through a converter, the desktop and other items seem full screen and fine, its only Safari which seems to display websites as zoomed in which if scrolled on will make items overlap each other. I have a 26inch LCD TV.
Is there any solution to this?
Also when using Safari the Icons dock appears below, its annoying becuase it limits amount of viewing space I have, In Windows XP/Vista you a Windows Bar at the bottom, which is fine becuase its small, is there a way to shrink the Icons dock or to make it disappear when using Safari and then to reappear after use?

Can you post a screenshot of what you see? (You can use a free hosting site such as www.imageshack.us to upload the picture to.)
is there a way to shrink the Icons dock or to make it disappear when using Safari and then to reappear after use?
You can shrink the icons by grabbing the dividing line (towards the trash can) and dragging it down (or up to increase the icon size). Alternatively, cmdoptd will hide/show the Dock.

  • Umlauts in Safari not displayed correctly

My motherlanguage is German, therefore most websites I visit are in German. In the recent days a problem with Safari came up:
umlauts (ä, ö, ü, Istead there is something like ü) and
other German-specific letters (ß) are not displayed correctliy,
even when I try to use another encodings (like ISO Latin 2, ISO Latin 4...).
This problem occured mainly on google.com
So I don't know if this is sort of a mixed problem - Google-Apple
    Any suggestions?

Thanks!  (Actually nothing is more important in a case like this than providing a url that lets someone else see exactly what you are seeing).
I can't duplicate your problem, so I do not think it is Google.  Does Firefox work OK?

  • Safari not displaying web site image

I have a website that is suddenly not displaying the header image in Safari and IE5.2.
I have my suspicions that it is due to a JavaScript from Google to run their Analytics programme which I installed a few days ago, (and will shortly remove it to confirm the suspicion or otherwise.)
But first I wish to check if other people are experiencing the same problem, or if it is localized to my computer. (Need to be able to inform Google if their script is the fault and affects all Safari users or only some versions. So please check the site and report results here, including your Safari version. Mine is Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6) and Internet Explorer 5.2 for Mac.
    The site is http://www.paintmaking.com
What I see in Firefox, Netscape, Opera, and Camino is a flash title over a colored background with a photo.
Thats what I saw in Safari until recently too. But suddenly all I now see in Safari and IE is the flash title over a gray background, no photo, and above the menu bar a very thin strip of color (about 1mm, 1/16in). The sidebar images are unaffected (and those images at the side work fine in all the browsers), it is just the header.
Can you please tell me what you see and the browser version?
    Tony

Thank you to everyone who has reported what you are seeing on my website. Now I need some help to troubleshoot the problem. So far I am confused as to where the problem lays let alone what the problem might be.
I need guidance as I am running out of ideas for troubleshooting. Are there any files that I should try trashing?
Could the problem lie in my Flash player perhaps (how do I test this?
    Updates:
I can see only a gray color behind my flash title on http://www.paintmaking.com in Safari 1.3.2 (v312.6) and Internet Explorer 5.2.3 (5815.1). What should be there is a colored header image.
I have established that other people can see the image correctly, including on the same builds of Safari and IE and on the same OS (10.3.9). An exception is someone using Shiira who can only see gray in Shiira, but sees colors in other browsers including Safari.
On my computer Netscape 7.2, Firefox, Mozilla, Opera and Camino can all see the image correctly.
Safari and IE have the same problem displaying the image on all the accounts on my eMac.
I have: cleared cache with no improvement, checked Safari Preferences (Java enabled, JavaScript enabled, and 'display images as pages open' is checked.
I have removed the software that I installed recently. (MacTracker)
I have removed a piece of JavaScript added recently (from Google to facilitate their Analytics programme)
The only major thing I have done lately that is out of the ordinary is to Clone my OS X hard drive to an external drive using SuperDuper.
I don't seem to be having problems with other websites.
So how can this be? If the problem is in my computer why only the one site affected? (I checked several sites) Yet if the problem is with the site then why can other people see the site correctly?

  • Safari not displaying web pages correctly

I dont know if its my inexperieince, something to do with settings or what but I am finding some of the web pages I am receiveing are not displaying correctly.  For example a card company sent me an online form to complete but when I tried to read it some of the information was displayed on top of more information making the whole thing garbled and indeciperable, on another website there was an area with a list of information held in a box but when I tried to read the information it would periodically jump about yet I was no where near the mouse. Both pages are fine on my husbands windows PC. There have been other incidents like this making the transition from windows to Mac very painful.  Is this something that can be remedied or are we stuck with it?

When I experience the problem, I sometimes have to zoom in or out, to get the text to be readable.

  • Safari not displaying site content if sidebar hidden. Does display if sidebar unhidden

All of a sudden, Safari will not display content past the header on a site that I visit routinely. Chrome and Firefox will display the site fully.
I had installed the two plugins that suppress the autostart of media on Safari and the comparable plugins on Chrome and Firefox.
When I check the source on Safari when at this site, I can see all the html is there for a full display.
I removed both plugins from Safari, but still can't view the content past the header.
I just now discovered that if I unhide the Safari sidebar, I can see the full site page displayed. When I hide it, it disappears.
    I am using Safari 8.0.
    I am using OS X 10.10

    1. From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
    2. Select

  • Safari not displaying some web pages properly why?

I have been finding of late that safari does not display certain web pages properly. i.e.: text overlaps other text  and is not formatted properly. This seems to have become more common lately. Even Apple's own apple info page does not display properly. Could this be a setting in safari that I have messed up somehow?

Go step by step and test.
    1. Delete Cookies
Safari > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies and other website data:
        Click the “Details” button.
Remove all cookies except from Apple, your internet service provider and banks.
    2. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
Turn off Extensions if any and launch Safari again to test.
Turn on those one by one and test.
    3. Delete Caches.db
Close all windows and quit all applications.
Hold "option" key down and click "Go" menu in the Finder menu bar.
        Select "Library" from the dropdown.
        Library > Caches > com.apple.Safari > Caches.db
Right click the Caches.db file and select "Move To Trash.
        Close windows and relaunch Safari.
    4. Empty Caches
        Safari > Preference > Advanced
Checkmark the box for "Show Develop menu in menu bar".
Develop menu will appear in the Safari menu bar.
Click Develop and select "Empty Caches" from the dropdown.
    5. Temporarily  turn off  Safari iCloud sync and test.
         System Preferences > iCloud
Uncheck the box beside “Safari” and test.

  • Not displaying website fonts properly

I asked about this on Reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1o26ar/let_sites_use_their_own_fonts_but_make_exceptions/
Here's a summary: I used custom fonts instead of letting each website display their own. This led to sites like Github not displaying some icons. I enabled the option to let sites use their own fonts, and the icons in Github are fixed, but I have another problem:
    http://i.imgur.com/1q1WiEh.png
That is most certainly NOT the website's custom font. It's HelveticaNeue-LightExt for some reason.Reddit suggested I use a script with Greasemonkey, but I like to keep my addons at the necessary minimum, and I know there's something weird going on here. If I use another profile, such as with Tor, the sites display just fine. In fact the first time I tested it with Tor, I restarted my regular Aurora session and the websites displayed proper fonts. A few minutes later, and for no apparent reason, they were back to HelveticaNeue.
Basically, I want to let sites display their custom fonts properly, without the need of an add on, and without losing my current profile.

  • Google search box in Safari not displaying matches

    Hello,
I just did the latest Software Update on both my MacBook Pro and iMac (the update was a new iTunes--version 10.3). I'm not sure why this is happening, but when I use the Google search box (located in the upper-right corner of the Safari window), I no longer see a list of possible matches to what I'm typing. Both of my computers now do not display them, yet it has always done this in the past.
Does anyone have a solution to this, or do you know what happened?
    Thank you very much.

My guess is Google did something wrong, figured it out and fixed it. The suggestions feature went away in Safari for Google, but not for bing, and continued to work in Firefox. It is all fixed this morning. I happened to be using Google when it stopped functioning, it had nothing to do with updates to the Mac, since as it went south I restarted in an earlier Snow Leopard version and discovered it was not working there either. So it was a Google action that caused the mishap, nothing that Apple did. Anyway, all's well now.

  • Jerky scrolling and Safari not displaying most jpegs in one user a/c

    Hi
I upgraded my 15" mid 2010 MBP to Mountain Lion and find that it is behaving oddly. I have two different user accounts and the oddities vary between accounts. In one, most jpegs in Safari are not displayed, substituted with black rectangles with patterns of coloured dots (in the other, there is no problem with rendering pictures). The scrolling of pages is extremely jerky in Safari and far from perfect elsewhere (slightly jerky in Preview eg). Even the dock magnification is jerky, with icons breaking up as you pass over them.
In both accounts the scroll bar in Safari flickers on and off irrespective of whether the setting in General prefs is for the scroll bar to display permanently or not. The less troubled user account is noticeably snappier in action (eg opens the About this Mac screen with no delay compared with a second or so in the other account).
I've tried ditching the caches for Sarari with no effect. I rebuilt permissions after the install. I'm at a loss to know what to do next as it feels like a generic video problem but, bizarrely is more or less confined to one account.
    Any clues?
    Best
    J

Check Safari > Preferrences > Extensions
If there are any installed, turn that OFF, quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If it's not an extension issue, try troubleshooting third party plugins.

  • Safari not displaying Facebook properly

Since yesterday, Safari stopped displaying Facebook properly. I get a white page with no formatting, just a column of links. That is the only site I have problems with. All others seem to work fine and Facebook displays properly if I'm using Firefox. ???

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Safari not displaying all images

Safari does not seem to display all images on certain pages. For example, on
    feed : // news.google.com/?output=rss
all images for news headline items show the "questionmark" icon.
And yes, "Display images when the page opens" is checked in Safari preferences.
Has anyone had the same problem, and found a solution?
    Using: Safari Version 5.1.3 (7534.53.10), OS X (10.7.2).

I recently downloaded Mountain Lion, and now have Safari 6.0.  I heard so many good things about this new version I decided to try Safari again as my main browser.  But now, I get this old problem.  Images not displaying.  Not sure if I will go back to Chrome or Firefox.
There is no Appearances Tab in Safari 6.0 Preferences, and in thumbing through the tabs, I don't see anything under any of them re. displaying images.
It has happened many times, but the particular site I am at now is
    http://www.businessinsider.com/wall-street-analyst-commentary-2012-7?op=1
I do get pics at http://news.google.com
Hmmm, I get pics at http://www.businessinsider.com/wall-street-analyst-commentary-2012-7#
but they have an ability to see the next 12 pages all on one page which is
                    http://www.businessinsider.com/wall-street-analyst-commentary-2012-7?op=1
Does this mean the site is doing something "wrong"?  and Safari therefore won't show the pics?  perhaps I will go back to Firefox that will show "wrong" pics

  • Why is Safari not displaying some pages correctly?

Safari seems to be messing up again.  Had this problem quite a while ago.  It's not displaying some pages correctly.
Notice the 2 enclosed screen shots.  I went to purchase something (no personal info in the jpgs)
Notice the W-Safari.  Little trash cans by the purchase items missing as well as the submit button and a few other things.  So I opened Chrome.
Notice in the W-Chrome, everything is displaying correctly.
I've had problems like this some time ago but I thought they were fixed.
Thanks for any suggestions or help.

  • Safari not displaying Apple Store Chat

    Hi everyone,
I have noticed that with Safari, that it does not display the Apple Store Live Chat feature. The space where the little button is blank (see here: http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/1200/picture1os0.png)
With Firefox it shows it immediately. And I've checked the Activity window and there are items from "storechat.apple.com..." that have loaded, so I don't know what's wrong.
    Thanks,
    William

    Hi William
I have noticed that with Safari, that it does not display the Apple Store Live Chat feature.
Ironic to say the least. Doesn't appear on Safari 3 Beta too. I've notified an Apple Rep at the Store of the "bug".

  • Safari not displaying pages correctly after upgrade to Mavericks

Hi, I just upgraded my macbook pro (mid 2010) to Mavericks and safari now displays web pages as if I was really zoomed in. When I load a page I will see it correctly for a second and it will then zoom in (no amount of pinch on my trackpad solves the problem). I can cmd - a few times to get it back to a normal display size, but I need to do it for every tab I open. When I open chrome, everything displays properly. Any Idea on what could cause this problem? Thx in advance
Sorry if I am not posting to the right forum, kinda new here

Try holding the control key and using a 2 finger swipe up or down (direction depends on how you have the track pad set) and see if you may inadvertently done zoom from this, it is different from a pinch zoom
