Safari not open 10.3.9

Safari not open in 10.3.9 but internet explorer does.
opens just fine in 10.3.8. connects to any site without hesitation. As soon as I download and install 10.3.9 the problem shows up.
weither upgrade or clean install 10.4 in 10.4.3 and 10.4.5 safari opens as do other browsers but all say not connected to internet. Sometimes can get connected by hitting return a lot to get a page request to go through.
What can I do to make it work.
Have been fighting with system 10 since first started with 10.2. Paying for 10.3 and now 10.4. I first tried using 10 on a G3 no luck. Next an imac 333Mhz and even partitioned. Then to G4. Tried 10.3 on the imac and the G4. Never have been able to fully install any version of OSX on imac under any conditions.I AM NOT PLEASED

"...there's also a chance that your failed installation of Tiger and return to Panther has resulted in other problems."
I suspect that as well, that is why I asked:
"What procedure did you use to replace the Safari application?
And what procedure did you use to reinstall Panther 10.3.x, after the failed upgrade?"
I also suspect that if, after the failed Tiger 10.4.x upgrade, you performed an Archive & Install of Panther 10.3.x, and chose to "preserve your user and network settings", there could be some corruption of the system.
See this KB Article for info How to reinstall a prior version
Quoted from there:
"Important: You should only perform an Archive and Install installation over the same major version of Mac OS X. For example, if your Mac OS X Install disc has Mac OS X 10.3, then you should only perform an Archive and Install over version 10.3 through 10.3.9. "Downgrading" your operating system version to an earlier major version may lead to issues. For example, downgrading Mac OS X 10.4 or later by performing an Archive and Install installation with Mac OS X 10.3.9 or earlier Install discs could lead to:..."
Could you please also post, how the Tiger 10.4.x upgrade failed?
And review the KB Articles linked to below.

I have ipad with IOS 7,  Some apps doesn' t work, safari not open some web site. What can I do?

Try this and see if it helps.
    Settings>Safari>Clear cookies and data.
Now close Safari completely. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then "swipe up" or "drag up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

    i am running safari 6.0.5

I can't test because I don't have a login, but you can try the following.
From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.

  • Why will Safari not open with the homepage that I marked? I have done everything Help said.

Why will Safari not open with the homepage that I marked even after marking it in Safari preferences?

Might be corrupted Safari preferences ...
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type of copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.Safari.plist file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari and try setting your hompeage.

  • 10.5.4 fix safari not opening?

For those of you, like me, whohave had safari not open after the 10.5.3 update, I was wondering if 10.5.4 fixed this. I have not had a chance to try it yet. When I try to install the latest safari update it tell me I need 10.5.2 or higher and I have 10.5.3. If this new leopard update fixes safari please post or post a fix for it using 10.5.4, because I have given up on 10.5.3

Was the update to 10.5.4 only for Safari or was it a systemwide update that just happened to affect Safari?
It's a system wide update that included some fixes for Safari.
Add-on programs and some plugins are now invalid with this most recent version
Your best bet is to wait for the developers of your extensions to update them. It usually only takes a few days. As many people here have found out, attempting to reinstall Safari can cause many problems.

  • Safari not opening Home page at start-up

I prefer Safari to open my Home page when it is launched at computer start-up via login items.
Safari 4.0.5 launches OK at start-up but it does not open my home page - launching it from the Dock does open my Home page.
Is there a setting I can change to get it to open my Home page at computer start-up?

    HI,
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Empty Cache...
Restart your Mac and see if Safari loads with your home page.
If not, go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Now go to Safari/Preferences - General. Set your home page and restart your Mac. If it works as it should, move the .plist file to the Trash.

  • Safari not opening on ipad?

Safari will not open on iPad?

Try completely quitting the app first - double-click on the Home button to reveal the recetly used apps bar or dock. Press and hold on an app's icon in the recently used apps bar or dock until all begin to shake/wiggle. Select the "X" on Safari's icon to quit the app which will remove it from the recently used apps bar or dock.
    Try launching Safari again.
If no change, try powering your iPad off and on.
If no change after that, try an iPad reset, which is done by pressing and holding the home button and the sleep/wake or on/off button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo and then release.

  • Safari not opening sites it used to open

hi, i have safari 2.0.3, safari is not opening webpages it used to open easily, like my online bank site but others that aren't password protected. it doesn't say it can't open the site, it just opens it partially, the top part only. so i've been using netscape for those sites. any idea why this is happening? there don't seem to be any other issues. i have done my repair disk permissions and restarted. thanks, bobbie

    Bobbie --
It could just be real basic and easy stuff.
    Have you done these?
    1. Empty your cache & History settings via the Safari menu
    2. Trash your Icons Folder:
    HD>Users>Home>YourName>Library>Safari -->Icons
Restart Safari and a new folder will be automatically regenerated.
(This folder saves favicons of all the sites you visit. Needs cleaning periodically -- or you can change that file's preferences to "Read Only"
rather than "Read & Write." This will keep it from growing in size.)
    3. Launch Font Book and check all fonts for duplicates. A duplicated font will have a bullet beside the font family and you can resolve duplicates by selecting the font and at the menu bar, go to Edit > Resolve Duplicates.
Do this for each font with a bullet next to it.
    There are other easy things,
but these are the basics, at least in my own humble non-tech opinion.
    Report back, OK?
    If it's solved, we'll have a party.
If not, there's about 4 other easy things.

  • Safari Not Opening - or allowing a reinstall

This morning, Safari stopped opening. Although the icon bounced - no Safari. So deciding to reinstall I downloaded 3.1.1 - however attempting to install gives me an error that it cannot install to the hard drive as it requires 10.5.2 or higher. The only snag is that I am using 10.5.4 so completely stuck. Please help.

    Hi Craig,
Cool, that's good to know. OK, back in your normal account, try moving all the following files/folders to your Desktop and then retry Safari:
    Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > Cookies > Cookies.plist
    Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > Safari > History.plist
    Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > Safari > Downloads.plist
Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > Syndication
    Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > Preferences > com.apple.Safari.plist
If Safari now works, quit it again and try moving one of the files back and restart Safari - repeat the process until you discover the file/folder causing the problem.
Should Safari still fail to launch after moving those, check to see if you have anything in this folder as well (it's possible this folder may not exist so don't worry if you can't find it):
Hard drive > Users > Your Username > Library > InputManagers
If there is anything, move the contents of the folder onto your Desktop as well and then retry Safari.

  • Safari not opening certain websites

When I try to open Facebook or Google I get the following error message:
    Invalid URL
The requested URL "/", is invalid.
In addition, websites that normally come up pretty quickly seem to be taking an extremely long time to load.
To be sure that this isn't a problem with my internet provider I logged onto my craptastic Windows-based laptop and opened both Facebook and Google on it with Safari and these websites came right up and with no delay.
Anyone know wha the problem is and if there is a solution?  And no, I have not yet upgraded to Mountain Lion yet as I am replacing my hard drive this afternoon and will upgrade after that.

If it happens again, try deleting the cache associated with Safari.
    Quit Safari.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
    ~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
    Click Go
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
    Relaunch Safari to test.

  • Safari not opening Yahoo, Google, or You Tube home pages.

Safari, Camino and Firefox will not open Yahoo, Google or Youtube.  It says "Safari can’t open the page “http://www.yahoo.com/” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection. This sometimes occurs when the server is busy. Wait for a few minutes, and then try again."  Other websites will open okay.  I am running Safari version 5.0.6 and Mac version 10.5.8.  I've tried disabling add-ons, resetting the cache, clearing the proxy boxes in network settings with nothing working.  These pages open just fine using Chrome.  Can anyone help??

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only Guest login created by Find My Mac.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in Mac OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The Guest login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Safari not opening any pages

My MAC Book Air is running OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 and when updated to Safari to 8.0.2, Safari can not open any web pages.
My MAC Book Pro 15 inch works fine.
Does any one have the same problem?

Restart the computer and try again.
As a shortcut, launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Select All Processes from the View menu, if not already selected.
Enter "discoveryd" in the search box. You should see a process with that name in the list on the right. Select it, then click the stop-sign icon in the top left corner of the window. In the sheet that drops down, click Force Quit. Enter your administrator login password when prompted.
The process should relaunch immediately. Test.
