Safari not opening due server not resonding but  wifi shows ok??

Am having problems with Safari iPad 2 connecting to server. My WiIFI seems fine and no prob with my computer connecting so am assuming prob lies with iPad..Wud really appreciate some assistance.

If you are still using iOS 4.3.1 as you listed in your profile, then you need to update.

All I can suggest is that you open that file on the MBA and save it as a new file, then see if you can open the new one on the iMac.

  • Safari not freezing but not responding

I'm having a weird issue with Safari lately and I was wondering if anyone could comment on it?
Basically, it's working and all of the sudden it just doens't respond? It's still showing on the screen but I can't click anything with the mouse. I can't switch tabs that are open. When I do a Apple + TAB to switch applications, when I try to do that to get back, it doesn't do anything. It says it'll switch in the application switcher but it won't Safari just hangs in the background.
When I open up the Activity Monitor, it just shows a few threads open but 0% cpu. I have to force quit to get out. Plus, it doesn't send an error report to Apple.
    Any ideas?

There are a number of situations that can make Safari freeze. Before going there, let's determine if it's a system-wide or User Account problem.
You can do this by using Safari in another user account. If you haven't established a second account, you can do so by following the guidance from Apple on how to set up the account. You can ignore step 7 in the article.
Also, on the system preference>Accounts panel, click on "log-in" options. There, select "fast user switching". This allows you to go back and forth between user accounts via an icon in your Menu Bar at the top of the computer screen.
Log-on to the new account and start Safari. If Safari doesn't lock-up in the new account, then your problem is specific to your regular user account. Otherwise, similar response means a system-wide problem.
    Post back with results.

  • Safari Cannot Connect with Server (mountain lion) on wifi

I Posted this under Mountain Lion as Safari had no connectivity issues for me when I got my mbp and it had lion installed and ran beautifully-
NOW my apple (s) run fine on mountain lion
    for a little bit,
and then I get "Safari Cannot Connect to Server"
Now during this frequent occurance the  APP store hangs and hangs as well.
    This is most annoying-
The only way to use my apple products after this happens is to restart them
and then they work until they go into sleep mode,
sometimes they screw up before that and then
    "Safari Cannot Connect to Server"
my Airport utility shows that it is scanning for  networks-
When I was right in the middle of buying something from amazon-- I had to go to my decrepit old windows xp connected up only for cox email to complete the transaction-
This is not acceptable. Since it occurs on both of my apple computers and only started when I installed mountain lion.
This has continually gotten worse to the point I must restart my laptop continually-
Apple better get the lead out of their butts and fix this glaring fault- or should I install another web browser?
which I am disinclined to do-
I spent a fortune on these apple products and I expect them to work properly- I went to apple because I was so sick of microsoft and its endless headaches and updates and freezes lol--
kind of funny if you think about it.

    Hi BSU1960,
I found the solution to my problem on a different forum.  Turns out for some reason the anti-virus software that I run was interferring with my browsers' connecting to the internet.  Once I disabled the web protion of the anti-virus my problem went away.
I have a question to Kaspersky Security, hopefully will find out what was the root cause.

  • IPad will not connect to wifi, shows connection, iPad will not connect to wifi, shows connection

My iPad will not connect to wifi, even though my computer is currently connected.  Airport mode is off, and my iPad shows connectivity in the corner.  Is there any way to fix this without completely resetting the device?

    - Reset the iPad. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPad: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router.
    - Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
Does the iPad successfully connect to other networks?
Did it successfully connect to this network before?

  • Safari not downloading but open any file in browser

All of a sudden I can't seem to download any files with Safari anymore, where it use to save the file in the download folder it stop doing that and trying to open the files in the browser, so for example a text file will show up as text in the browser, binary files show garbage on the web browser - nothing in download folfer even though that is where it's suppose to save download that is set in Preferences. Can't remember changing anything or installing something new.
Running a MacBook Pro on OSX 10.6.8 and Safari 5.0.5.
Did not have Speed Download or anything like that installed.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

Go to ~/Library/Safari. Move the Downloads.plist file to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.

  • Safari Cannot open due to server stopped responding

On Ipad2 Safari is not connecting to server.  Tried to reboot ipad and it still does not go.  The actual message is Safari could not open page because the server stopped responding. Other than doing a total reset and losing everything, what can be done?  Anyone else having this problem.  Started two days ago.

Thank you.  It worked.  Could not reply on Apple Support.

  • I was sent a url. Instead of Safari, it opened blank app store window; today, app shows 1 update available: GLIDE. Never downloaded it, not showing in settings?

I received an a text including a shrunk URL.  I unshrunk the URL, www.glide.com.  I then pressed link in message.  Instead of opening Safari, a blank App store window opened.  Later I noticed an update available in the app store.  The update was for GLIDE video messaging app.  I NEVER INSTALLED IT, and IT DOES NOT SHOW UP IN SETTINGS.  any ideas???

If you are completely confident that you didn't hide it, then you purchased those with different apple id. If you completely confident that you purchases with same apple id then you have hidden it. One of the other or you are speaking about a miracle. While miracles are possible they are not very likely. • Safari not connecting but Firefox working

Have been having problems connecting to my home wireless system today. Finally resolved that issue but now only the Firefox browser is working not safari. I'm sure I've reset something wrong but what any ideas?

Use Spotlight to search for a file called login.keychain. Users/YourUserName/Library(which is a hidden folder and won't show in Finder)/Keychains. Click Go in the menu bar then Go to Folder and type in /Users/YourUserName/Library and hit the enter key. Look down the list of folder and find Keychains. The "login.keychain" file should be inside.

It's stands to reason, that Mail is outdated.  Use Software Update to update your os as well as Mail and anything else that needs to be updated showing up in Software Update.

  • Email body not displaying but preview shows text.

    Hi,
I have been experiencing a consistent problem with emails from one sender. When I open mail I see who the message is from and a preview of the first few words of text, if I then open this message it displays no text at all. If I forward the message all of the text becomes present.
Any ideas what might be causing this? It displays fine on Mobileme and Apple mail on the Mac, it just seems to be an iPhone bug.
    Any help greatly appreciated.
    Steve

This just started happening to me. I can see all my email and I can see a few lines of preview text. But the message will not display when I tap on it.
I deleted the IMAP account from the phone and then re-added it. Still didn't fix it.
Did a restart of the phone like other poster suggested and it fixed it. Still seems like a pretty weird bug.
IMAP server is Zimbra. iOS 4 on the phone.

  • Safari cannot open webmail server page

Even after Yosemite update problem not fixed. Still cannot access  emails on server webmail page.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.

  • Intel xserve with hardware raid. Volume not mounting but drives show good

So this morning we came in and found that our intel xserve with the hardware raid is not booting.
Booted from OS X Install DVD and Raid Utility shows the Raidset good and all drives good.
Open disk utility and no volume form the raid will show up.
    ANY IDEAS!??!

    New information.
So out of the blue the Volume decided it needed to run an initializing run.
Apple care says I have to just wait until its done and see if the volume mounts.
Very strange since everything was green (good) until just then.
    UPDATE:
Next day, the initializing has finished and now the Volume says (good) but the Raid Set is now "in transition". Applecare says I have to just wait till its done and see if the volume mounts.
