Safari not rendering a page correctly

A webpage I created in Dreamweaver uses drop down menus that are supposed to display just to the left of the link they drop from. In all other browsers they work correctly, but since the latest upgrade in Safari to 3.0.4 as a part of OS 10.4.11 on my Macbook, they are not rendering correctly. Instead they are appearing much further to the left where it's difficult to move the cursor to them before they disappear. Until I changed the color of the drop downs they were disappearing into the background. Any ideas why Safari is not rendering them correctly? I'd like to keep Safari as my primary browser, but if it won't render my own page correctly, what other pages might it be messing up? Address of the page is http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/woottonhs/ The drop downs are connected to the central column list that has small arrows beside the words. They will probably work correctly for you, but won't for me in Safari. What can I do to fix it?
Thanks,
KWolfrey

Hi,
I'm running 10.4.11 with Safari 3.0.4 and as far as I can see the menus seem to work just fine here.
Do you have a custom stylesheet set in Safaris advanced preferences? (Some Safari enhancer applications set one even if you didn't manually set one so double check to make sure.)
Also, do you use PithHelmet?
One quick test you can do to help narrow down things is to try Safari in another user account. This will help us to know whether your problem is local to your account or system wide. If you don't have another account you can use System Preferences -> Accounts -> \[+\] to create a test one (and \[-\] to remove it if needed)
Lastly, I doubt these [errors|http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.montgomeryschoolsmd. org%2Fschools%2Fwoottonhs%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&g roup=0] have anything to do with your problem since it seems to work fine for me, but you might want to look into them at some point.

  • Why is Safari not displaying some pages correctly?

Safari seems to be messing up again.  Had this problem quite a while ago.  It's not displaying some pages correctly.
Notice the 2 enclosed screen shots.  I went to purchase something (no personal info in the jpgs)
Notice the W-Safari.  Little trash cans by the purchase items missing as well as the submit button and a few other things.  So I opened Chrome.
Notice in the W-Chrome, everything is displaying correctly.
I've had problems like this some time ago but I thought they were fixed.
Thanks for any suggestions or help.

  • Not Rendering Some Pages Correctly

My site has been working correctly for several years. Yesterday, when trying to update only a couple of the pages, iWeb made me republish the whole site. I did it overnight by publishing to a folder, then using Cyberduck to upload the folder.
Now my Welcome page looks normal but some of the other pages do not render correctly. Appears to be related to the photo template pages (click on the "Bills Photos" link on the Welcome page to see the problem).
When I publish to a folder and open with Safari all pages render normally. When I compare the html on the PhotoGallery page in the folder with the one on my iDisk, they appear to be the same.
I've been changing things and retrying with no success. Can anyone tell me what's going on and how to fix it.
    My URL is: http://web.mac.com/billspaulding/BillsHome/Welcome.html
    Thanks for any help.

    Bill-
First of all I am noticing that you are using non-web safe fonts (futura comes up in safari and something serif, maybe a Garamond? in firefox). So that could be one reason why your type is off...
I can see the type redrawing as the page renders. I have also found that when you adjust with the type character spacing settings in iweb it renders differently on different browsers. Also be careful of overlapping text boxes. That can mess up your type as well.
As far as the gallery photo pages... just a guess... but your site is very narrow. Did you make sure all files (including the gallery pages) fall within the page width you have set up? I noticed when I click 'back to album' the page corrects itself to view the slideshow but you lose the other options to download, etc. Weird but it almost looks like you have 2 copies of the gallery on each page.. with 2 buttons for each (play slideshow)
Have you checked all your links?
Hope some of this helps. I have been working with iweb recently, teaching myself and viewing forums.

  • Safari not rendering Arabic text correctly

I have Safari 1.0.3 running on Mac OS 10.2.8 and it will not render Arabic text correctly. Isolated letters appear at about half the correct size, which makes pages readable but only with considerable difficulty and annoyance.
I saw some solutions here that related to removing Microsoft fonts, but I removed all fonts from Home:Library:Fonts and quite and restarted Safari, and the problem persists. I also downloaded Firefox 2.0 and the same issue occurs - with the added feature that the tab titles on Firefox also display this anomaly, whereas tab titles on Safari render Arabic correctly.
And by the way, if this issue can be resolved, can safari and other apps be got to use a font other than the extremely ugly and hard-to-read default?
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

Thanks Tom. The problem though is not that letters
that are meant to be connected are coming out
isolated; letters that are meant to be isolated, e.g.
initial alif, waw, ra and final letters after alif,
waw ra, are displaying way too small.
    Sorry I misunderstood the problem.
Do you think it is worth trying your troubleshooting
tip no. 18? And do you have any idea what sort of
issue could be behind it that it would affect Firefox
    too?
Yes, you may as well try no. 18. That tip, which really has no logic to it, reflects the fact that voodoo is sometimes required to get Jaguar to display Arabic correctly in browsers. Panther was a tremendous improvement in that regard.

  • Safari not displaying web pages correctly

I dont know if its my inexperieince, something to do with settings or what but I am finding some of the web pages I am receiveing are not displaying correctly.  For example a card company sent me an online form to complete but when I tried to read it some of the information was displayed on top of more information making the whole thing garbled and indeciperable, on another website there was an area with a list of information held in a box but when I tried to read the information it would periodically jump about yet I was no where near the mouse. Both pages are fine on my husbands windows PC. There have been other incidents like this making the transition from windows to Mac very painful.  Is this something that can be remedied or are we stuck with it?

When I experience the problem, I sometimes have to zoom in or out, to get the text to be readable.
The following is in the Safari > View menu --

  • Safari not loading certain pages correctly

I have a black macbook (2008) and when I am running Safari it will load a webpage and when it finishes loading it will grey out the website, and jump down to the end of the webpage.  I can still see the website but I cannot click any of the links. I can scroll up and down still but it is greyed or blacked out.  I load up the same website in firefox and it is fine.  This problem never happens in firefox and it does not happen on every webpage in Safari, but it does it on the same websites consistently.
This has starting in the last few months and I cannot say for sure if it started before or after we moved and changed internet providers.
Thank you in advance for any helpful answers.
The first one is Safari and the second one is Firefox

This sounds like the same problem as:
    Version 6.0.5 (8536.30.1) grey page     https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5123846
Try some ot the things suggested there; it was due to an extension.

My new 14-x050nr does not render the following web page properly:
    http://cloud.collectorz.com/opus1269/books
Near the top left of the page are labels "Author" and "All".  Left clicking on them should display a drop down menu for further selections. This does not happen.  There are several other labels on the page with drop downs and none of them work.
I talked to my brother who has an older model ASUS Chromebook and the page functions correctly. Also works correctly on my Windows 7 laptop.
I tried the following on my Chromebook without success:
    Logging in as guest
    Reset Settings
    Powerwash
    Switching to the Beta Channel

  • Why does f12(preview in browser mode) not render the page correctly?

Why does f12(preview in browser mode) not render the page correctly? Instead when i go to the main or original file, it renders properly? It is drriving me nuts! HAHA! Can anyone help? mainly CSS problem, div overlapping but when viewing from original file on browser not through F12, it renders correctly. CS5.5 DW. Thanks!

just that one of it is a f12 (preview in browser) while the other one is going to the directory and clicking the html page by itself.
F12 is simply a hot key that launches your browser.
The only thing I can think of to explain this is that you have a local site folder someplace in addition to a testing server site.
When you hit preview, your testing server on the localhost/ is being called up in the browser.
When you open the HTML page directly, you're seeing the local site file with unparsed data.
Try disabling your Testing Server in Sites > Manage sites > Edit...

  • Print Problem - PDF is OK on Windows 7, but OK on Windows XP with "Acrobat Reader An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem."

I have received a PDF which prints fine in Windows 7 but with Windows XP I get "Acrobat Reader An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem." and a blank piece of paper passes through the printer. I appreciate that Windows XP is no longer supported but I would like to think that the solution to this problem is not too difficult!
    I have tried Acrobat 9, 10 and 11.
Any advice (apart from use Windows 7! ) would be most welcome.
    Many thanks.

If you use the same Adobe Reader versions with the same PDF on Windows 7 and XP, then I would expect the outcome to be the same.
Is this a local or online PDF?
If local, is the file really exactly the same?
    If online, in what browser?

  • Error in Acrobat 8: An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly...?

    Hi,
We perform the e-signing on any PDF using our custom e-signature plug-in. Once that's done, when we try re-opening the PDF in Acrobat version 8.0.0.0, we get the following error:-
"An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem"
Please note that this error occurs intermittently and is NOT observed in Acrobat 7 or 9.  Also, when a plain PDF is opened (i.e. a PDF without any signature on it) then there is NO error.
Could you let me know what could be the issue here? I read it in Acrobat 8.1.3 release notes that such an error was a known bug in version 8.0.0.0 (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407016.html), but I am not sure of its cause.
    Let me know your comments/suggestions.
    Thanks!

I am getting the same error even in Acrobat version 8.1.3.
Additionally, I noticed that if we click on menu ‘Advanced->Sign&Certify->Preview Document’, then we get a notification as “This document is not PDF/SigQ compliant and may display inconsistently”. On clicking  ‘View report’ on that notification, the below dialog pops up. It has errors listed as:-
Code 4000 : Unrecognized PDF content. The document contains PDF content or custom content not supported by the current version of Acrobat.
Code 4002: PDF content contains erros.
However, if we sign the PDF using default adobe signature functionality and reopen that PDF, the error does NOT come and the notification also says ‘This document is PDF/SigQ compliant’.
Can anybody please suggest what could be missing in the custom sign that we apply? Is it because of any of the missing fonts or any other resources?
    Awaiting reply!
    Regards.

  • Safari not opening .asp pages

    safari not opening .asp pages
    i am running safari 6.0.5

I can't test because I don't have a login, but you can try the following.
From the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the malfunctioning extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. That will revert its settings to the defaults.

  • Why will safari not load web pages with the prefix "fhp"?

Why will safari not load web pages with the prefix "fhp"?

Because it doesn't recognise them as valid addresses - just as the error message  says.
Firefox is similar : Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (fhp) isn't associated with any program.
Where are you seeing this problem ?.

  • Safari not rendering Correctly

    Hi-
Randomly, Safari stopped rendering sties correctly, actually, one site in particular. Gizmodo (www.gizmodo.com) only comes up as a sort of list instead of the correct full version. I've already reset Safari, clear cookies, history, temp files, etc. I also deleted the preference file, but to no avail. I'll attach a screenshot of this incorrect rendering to show you what I mean.
    Thanks!!

That would be weird because this only started happening about last week. I'll download the latest webkit and see if that helps any. My ISP is Verizon (FiOS). I am using the built in ethernet connection.
