Safari not responding after Yosemite install
Hello all...
I downloaded Yosemite yesterday (basically without issue) on my MBP 13" - Mid- 2010. Safari was working yestready, but as of this morning, I open it, type in a URL and nothing.
The status bar gets to about 10% and just stays there.
I have performed some suggestions from other threads (deleting history, deleting Safari cache, turning off extensions and third party plugins) but nothing has worked.
AS I mentioned, Safari was working last night.
ANy suggestions no would be greatly appreciated!
KIm
FYI -- I fixed my issue. I needed to install the latest Java for OS X ... Once I did that.. Safari works perfectly! Hope this helps anyone else having the same issues!

Safari not responding after installing 10.6.8
After updating 10.6.8, Safari is behaving very strange. Once homepage screen is loaded in Safari, anything I do it becomes 'not responding' and have to force to quit but It works fine in safe mode. I removed all kernel extensions but no success. Crome and Fireworks work fine but only Safari has a problem.
Have anyone had this problem and know how to solve it?
Many thanks!have you tried download (http://www.apple.com/safari/download/) safari and reinstall it?

App Store is not responding after Yosemite installation
After installed Yosemite 3 days ago, I have been encountering many issues: 1) booting very slow (more than 10-15 minutes), even halt sometimes; 2) app store does not respond; 3) some apps like Spotify are cannot be opened. I have been always happy with Apple products until Yosemite. So disappointed!
What I don't get about this community is how come we have to rely on other users to guess how to fix major problem....SHOULDN'T BE Apple's duty to surf these users issues and give the RIGHT ANSWER ASAP!!!!!
Anyway I got the same problem...app store stuck!
Anybody? Any Apple technician around no?
Thanks

Firefox keeps not responding after re-install
I just got this computer last Tuesday, and I immediately installed Firefox. It worked perfectly, as it should, with no problems or crashes whatsoever. But, I ended up installing an extension I don't normally use because I wanted to check out how the features worked, and it messed up Firefox a bit... the new tab button was all the way on the right, tiny and kind of broken from the rest of the tab bar. It also installed a "search tabs" thing on the left that, even after uninstalling the add-on, remained there, which was very annoying and also broken/not level with the tab bar.
This caused me to uninstall and reinstall Firefox so it would look like it's supposed to. But after reinstalling it, every so often Firefox freezes and says not responding for a couple of seconds. Sometimes it happens every hour, every 20 minutes, or even goes a whole day without it happening. But, it still happens. And also, when I went to update the Adobe Reader web plugin, Firefox froze to the point where I couldn't do anything... the "not responding" thing didn't occur, but it's like when I tried clicking on a tab my computer would ding and not do anything. I don't know what caused this but I know sometimes it happens when it wants you to confirm something or accept security access or something, but there was absolutely no reason to do this.
How come Firefox worked perfectly the day I got it, but after reinstalling it the next day because of an error on my part, it acts as if this is the crappiest computer in the world that freezes because of overload?Try safe mode http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

Safari extremely slow after Yosemite installed
It seems that websites are taking extremely long to load after I installed Yosemite and updated Safari. Any suggestions on what to do and what is causing this?
hi i had your exact same problem
only thing that could solve this was backing up my files and do a clean install, and then update back again
and now everything works just fine -
ICal not responding after SL install
I just installed SL today and every time I launch iCal it says "upgrading iCal calendars" and quits responding. The beach ball hangs there for a long time and it never finishes upgrading. I also had the force quit box open when I launch it and after about 10 seconds it changes to not responding. I've deleted the plist files and restarted, as well as repairing permissions. Nothing is working. Any ideas?

Camera not working after Yosemite Install 10.10.1 Macbook Pro early 2008
After installing Yosemite the camera does not work or even show up in system report. It appears not to be recognized at all by the OS. I have tried all of the suggested reset processes but no change. Any ideas?
dannfort wrote: ... OS X Yosemite (10.10.1)...
Your OS X Yosemite (10.10.1) is not the latest version.
Even if you have already updated to 10.10.2 by a different method, do the following:
• Restart Mac, repair disk permissions, then download and install OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 Combo Update.
• Repair permissions again following the restart that completes the Combo Update. Then try your camera again.

Why does iPhoto not open after Yosemite install?
I just installed Yosemite and iPhoto says I need an upgrade before it will open and I do not know where to find the upgrade. I have not been able to find it in the app store.
Thanks for the reply but that did not help. I was actually in the Mac App Store (the blue icon with the A). So am still looking for a solution. I don't ever remember doing an iPhoto upgrade and wondering if that could have something to do with it perhaps not recognizing the version I had!

Bootcamp Not Mountable After Yosemite Install
Hi all,
I know there have been a bunch of questions related to Yosemite installations breaking Bootcamp, but from the ones I read through it appears as though my issues is slightly different (I don't seem to have any missing partitions).
Let me start by saying that in Disk Utility I can see the BOOTCAMP partition, but it is greyed out and not mountable. When I reboot and hold down the command key to allow me to choose a boot disk it doesn't allow me to choose that disk and goes straight into OS X.
My hardware is a mid-2010 iMac 27 (2.8 GHz Intel Core i5) with an upgraded aftermarket SSD installed as the OS X boot disk (disk0), and the original 1TB hard drive as a secondary internal drive (disk1) containing a Mac partition (Macintosh HD is disk1s2) and by Windows 7 partition (BOOTCAMP is disk1s3).
I read through some of the other help threads and went so far as to download TestDisk, and I am able to find the NTFS BOOTCAMP partition on there, and see some or all of my windows files, but I am not sure how to proceed.
Thanks,

Safari not loading after Leopard install
I installed Leopard last night. All went well, except that I have been unable to load Safari. I have tried various fixes mentioned elsewhere in the forum, including trying Safari in a different account, deleting SIMBL plug-ins, deleting Flash plug-ins etc. The same result every time.

If anyone has a solution, I would be fantastically grateful.SORRY TO BE WRITING ALL IN CAPS, BUT I WANT EVERYONE TO NOTICE11
I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH SAFARI. I WENT TO THE APPLE STORE NEAR ME AND WE DECIDED THAT IT WAS DUE TO HAVING INSTALLED THE 'BETA' VERSION OF SAFARI WHEN IT WAS RELEASED ABOUT SIX MONTHS AGO. THAT, AT LEAST FOR ME, WAS A REAL PIECE OF ****!! I UNINSTALLED IT IMMEDIATELY, BUT EVIDENTLY IT LEFT SOME FORM OF CORRUPTION IN MY COMPUTER.
IT WAS SUGGESTED TO ME THAT I DO AN ARCHIVE AND INSTALL INSTEAD OF AN UPDATE INSTALL.
IT WORKED!!! AND MY IMAC AND ALL MY APPLICATIONS ARE RUNNING BETTER AND FASTER!!
FROM NOW ON, I WILL ALWAYS USE ARCHIVE AND INSTALL. I THINK IT JUST CLEANS UP EVERYTHING BETTER!!
TRY IT.
(AGAIN, SORRY FOR THE CAPS, BUT I KNOW HOW FRUSTRATED YOU ALL ARE.) -

Bootcamp Wont Load After Yosemite Install
Loner T,
My bootcamp does not load after Yosemite install.
ThanksThis is the first part of the recovery procedure. In your case, you have two OS X versions, so standard layout is not usable.
Please install GPT Fdisk (aka gdisk) (http://sourceforge.net/projects/gptfdisk/) if you have not done so yet.
You need to use the following steps. If you see any error messages during the following steps, please stop and post back here with the error message. The following steps have values from your Testdisk output (and you can verify) in Steps 7 and 8.
Rebuild GPT5 using start/end offsets
Sudo gdisk /dev/rdisk0
P (print the full list of parts)
D (delete)
5 (part 5)
N (new part)
5 (part 5)
841717760 - Start offset in bytes (start point for Bootcamp part)
+135055353 (Size offset as opposed to End offset)
0700 (Windows part type)
P (print list of all parts just to see what changes will be made)
W (Write the new GPT)
