Safari not showing images as Question Marks

Hello Forum,
we have a strange behaviour from a shop website in Safari for Mac and Windows Platform.
It is a site with frames. When i click on the Categorie Nagivation it comes to situations when one of the frames reloads.
After this frame reload the pictures only show as question marks. When i click one of the images it will reload the pressed picture and shows it. The other ones remain as question marks.
The System Layout goes like this: Apache Server takes requests and redirects it to an application shop Server.
Most of the Images are on Apache, the top navigation with the problem comes from the application server.
Does anyone has a clue where to search for this problem?
Firefoy and IE don't have this problem.
Regards
Jannis
P.S. its the newest Version of Safari installed on Mac or on Windows.

Hi Carolyn,
thanks for your answer.
The setting is still checked in Apperances.
I tried to unckeck and check it again, but it woh't solve the problem.
What i think is, that Safari has a problem with our system design or with http headers he interprets in another way than other browsers.
What i found out too is, that there is Java Script. Are there differents how Safari interprets them?

Jannis

  • Mobile Safari not showing images

    Hi there,
    Since upgrading to 4.01 and then 4.02 on my iPhone, Safari seems to intermittently not show images on websites... does anyone know the reason for this and a solution?

    I am having the same issue. I have found in my case the site I was working on is pulling content from JSON and the mobile app is using a Cache Manifest file. When I removed the manifest file reference I could see the images again.

  • Safari broken image link question mark in a blue box icon

    The url I get the safari broken image link question mark in a blue box icon most often is "apple.com/startpage/". There may be 10 or 12 of them. However, most apple.com pages have at least 1. In fact I am looking at 1 right now. I have emptied the cache. I do not wish to reset Safari because I do not want to reenter all of the passwords to various sites. Is there a simple answer?

    Hi Rex,
    Who is your ISP and what addresses do you have set in the DNS section of your System Preferences -> Network preferences?
    Have you tried logging into a different user account on your machine to see if that has the same problem? This will help us to know whether your problem is local to your account or system wide. If you don't have another account you can use System Preferences -> Accounts -> [+] to create a test one (and [-] to remove it if needed)
    Also, do you use any third party internet software (Norton, Intego, etc.)?

    My mac will not show images when on the internet?  I think I have inadvertently changed some settings but nor sure which one.

    I am going to assume you are using Safari here. If so then go to the Apple menu bar and hit Safari-> Preferences.  Under the Apperance tab there is a check box that is called "Display images when the page opens".  Check if that is unticked.

    When I view the website using Firefox, it shows and plays beautifully.  But, when I view it on Safari, there is a tiny question mark where the audio control should be, and no music plays.  I'd really appreciate some help with this one.

    Perhpas you need to empty your brower cache for it to display correctly - it seems to be working correctly for others here who have viewed it in Safari.
    Check your preferences and perhaps clear your cookies and then empty your browser cache.

  • Amazon and FaceBook not showing images

    I had a software issue and had to wipe my macbook. Since then, Safari will occasionally not show images on Amazon and sometimes FaceBook. Usually a clean of the history will fix it but sometimes it doesn't. I am not running any extensions and everything is up to date. Any idea what could be causing this?

    Hello Clement! (Be careful in what you post to the Internet, your name is in the screenshot, just sayin' If you want to be able to blur things in screenshots before posting them, try Skitch, it's a free app on the Mac App Store)
    In the past, I've seen this being caused by ISP's DNS servers.
    Try the following:
    Unplug your modem from the power, wait a minute, and plug it back in. If your issue is solved now, celebrate
    If not solved, however, try and see if you have the same issue on another network.
    You can also change the DNS server you use to something like OpenDNS. There is a guide here, preferably set it up on your router, but if that's too technical, try setting it up on your Mac only: https://store.opendns.com/setup/?__utma=247635969.764677354.1418757510.141875751 0.1418757510.1&__utmb=247635969.3.10.1418757510&__utmc=247635969&__utmx=-&__utmz =247635969.1418757510.1.1.utmcsr=google|utmccn=%28organic%29|utmcmd=organic|utmc tr=%28not%20provided%29&__utmv=-&__utmk=7372593#/
    One last thing about changing DNS servers. Really, your internet provider should be more than capable of serving you pictures from Amazon and Facebook (by the way, most of these pics are not hosted by Amazon and Facebook really, but by an outside company called Akamai that a lot of large companies use. So I should probably be saying: "your ISP should not have any trouble serving content from Akamai's servers")
    Hence, the proper advise I should give you is: contact your ISP and ask them if they've been having DNS issues lately. Barring that: you can save yourself some helpdesk pain and use OpenDNS or Google DNS.

  • Help PowerBook 150 not Run disket flash Question mark System 7.5.3 - 18 parts.

    PowerBook 150 not Run disket flash Question mark System 7.5.3 - 18 parts.  Please Help !!!

    Hi,
    First of all, in order to verify whether the 7.5.3 system software files are of the type earlier downloadable from Apple (with one large image file split onto floppy-sized segments), could you confirm that the first of the eighteen files has a file name with ".smi" at the end (before .bin or .hqx), and that the remaining seventeen files each include ".part"? The US version had totally nineteen files (one. smi and eighteen .part), but as I indicated above, this was different depending on language version.
    If the PowerBook 150 is empty (without an operating system), you will need a startup floppy. Do you have access to a Disk Tools floppy for the PB 150? A Network Access Disk 7.5 floppy would be useful under all circumstances, and can be used as an alternative startup disk (and the system folder could be copied to the hard disk, and would then act as a temporary system). The problem today is that Apple's older software downloads list, which contained the Network Access Disk 7.5, does not appear to be available any more.
    If you have the NAD 7.5 file already, the normal way of creating a bootable floppy was via a utility called Disk Copy (on another Macintosh computer with a built-in floppy drive). Disk Copy 6.3.3 can still be downloaded (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1262). The Make a Floppy command under the Utilities menu is used to create properly sector-copied floppy disks. Please note that the Disk Copy utility is not needed or used to mount a self-mounting image (.smi).
    There were special methods allowing an NAD 7.5 floppy to be made through a Windows PC as well (using a Windows version of StuffIt/Aladdin Expander and a utility such as WinImage).
    It is also possible to obtain a version of StuffIt Expander for the PB 150 through a PC (but the PowerBook would need at least a temporary operating system first). With access to an older Windows PC (capable of running a DOS program) with a floppy drive, you may want to try the following: Prepare an empty PC-formatted 1.44 MB diskette via FORMAT A: in DOS or the "full" formatting option under Windows. Download the MACDISK.EXE file from http://rrzs42.uni-regensburg.de/Macintosh/files/macftp.html . Run this MACDISK.EXE (DOS) program on the Windows PC. Follow the instructions on screen. The result will be a Mac-formatted (sic!) floppy that could be moved to and used with the PB 150. This floppy contains a StuffIt Expander installer. Once installed, drag downloaded .bin files onto the StuffIt Expander program icon to decode them.

  • Weblogic 12c Servlet Response - Special characters show up as question mark

    My web app is running on Weblogic 12c (12.1.1) using WebWork + Hibernate. The program streams data (bytes making up a pdf) from a CLOB in an Oracle Database to the AsciiStream of the servlet output response. No exceptions are thrown, but the generated pdf contains blank pages. Comparing the bytes of the generated pdf, special characters are showing up as question marks.
    Some of the bytes read in from the database contain 8 bits (correct data), but the bytes that the servlet return contain only 7 (all bytes with 8 bits become "1111111"). The number of bytes returned from the servlet is correct.
    Code:
    //Response is HttpServletResponse
    response.setContentType("application/pdf");
    response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", "inline; filename=\"test.pdf\"");
    out = response.getOutputStream();
    byte[] buf = new byte[16 * 1024];
    InputStream in = clob.getAsciiStream();
    int size = -1;
    while ((size = in.read(buf)) != -1){
    // buf contains the correct data
    out.write(buf, 0, size);
    // other exception handling code, etc
    out.flush();
    out.close();
    "Correct" pdf byte example:
    10011100
    10011101
    1010111
    1001011
    1101111
    11011011
    Incorrect pdf byte example:
    111111
    111111
    1010111
    1001011
    1101111
    111111
    I have verified that the data read from the CLOB in the database IS correct. My guess is that the Weblogic server has some strange servlet settings that causes the bytes to be written to the servlet output stream incorrectly, or a character encoding issue. Any ideas?
    Edited by: 944705 on Jul 26, 2012 10:17 AM

    Solution found, I'll post the work around to those who might encounter the same problem.
    Somewhere in the layers of technology (webwork or weblogic I'd guess), the servlet response is encoded into UTF-8 regardless. The encoding in the database was ISO-8859-1. Sending ISO encoded bytes by UTF-8 caused the conflicting character codes (anything above 127) to show up as undefined.
    The fix is to decode the input byte array into ISO-8859 string, then encode that string into UTF-8, which can be send by Weblogic.
    isoConvert = new String(buf, "ISO-8859-1");
    out.write(isoConvert.getBytes("UTF-8"), 0, isoConvert.getBytes("UTF-8").length);

  • Jdeveloper visual editor do not show images and other component shapes

    I used jdeveloper(10.1.3.3.0) to create an ADF BC application, I create a jsf jsp file and drag and drop components from ADF Faces Core to this file visual editor, but jdeveloper visual editor do not show images and other component shapes.
    Could you tell me how I can fix this problem?
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Actually, I need to make a dummy change to the jsp file and then it will display boxes representing the objects in the visual editor whereas I get an exception in the log:
    javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Cannot find FacesContext
    This does not talk much to me !
    Thanks

  • JList not showing images

    Have raised a thread giving details of the problem in Java2D forum
    JList not showing images
    Have anybody experienced this issue? I face this issue only when i use swingworker and only for small images (few kBs). It works fine for large images (More than 1MB files). I use Win 7.
    Regards,
    Sreram

    One, do you say because i set the model each time, sometimes the list is not getting repainted? I didn't say that. It's just good concurrency practice to only manipulate models on the EDT, particularly when SwingWorker easily allows the break up of loading the images in a background thread and updating the model on the EDT through the publish/process methods.
    Will the splitting up of worker as process chunks be of any use? Again it's just a good habit to get into for concurrency reasons.
    As for your repainting issue, try changing this line
    item.setImage(getImagefromFile(f)); to
    item.setImage(new ImageIcon(getImageFromFile(f)).getImage()); The ImageIcon class uses MediaTracker to synchronously load images (you can use your own if you want). If you're getting your images via the Toolkit.createImage# methods, then the images need to be loaded. Usually what happens is the toolkit image will get loaded when first drawn. The component that's doing the drawing gets repainted as more of the image comes in. But in the case of a JList, that component is the cell renderer pane and it doesn't care about repaint() calls. So changing the above line will insure the images are already loaded and ready to draw when first shown. tjacobs01 post reminded me of this.

    Breezley,
    OnLocation CS3 used Direct Draw to create the video window.  In Vista, you may have noticed that OnLocation CS3 would disable 'Aero' themed desktops as they did not support Direct Draw.  Windows 7 does not have this functionality, so you must disable the Aero theme manually to see the video in OnLocation CS3.
    To do this, right click on open desktop and choose Personalize.
    This will display available Themes.
    Scroll down to the 'Basic and High Contrast Themes'.
    Choose any one of the basic or high contrast themes.
    Restart OnLocation CS3.
    This should bring your video back into view.

    Over the last couple of days my ipad 2 has started to play up. First the mail would not show images in mail then when trying to browse the web it now will not open any pages. I have attempted a wipe & reload but still no difference.

    Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
    Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
    Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).
