Safari not working after reinstall
Hi there,
I had issues with my Safari (it woudn't start after the new upgrade), so I had to reinstall it (had to use AppDelete). The reinstallation worked fine, the program now starts (it used to get stuck at the beginning, with the icon bouncing on the dock and doing nothing), but now the browser doesen't seem to go on the internet anymore. All it does is waiting and timing out. Chrome,Opera and Firefox are working just fine. I am guessing the problem is the new installation, how can I fix this? I'm on the latest version of Lion, latest version of Safari downloaded from the official Apple site.
Thanks in advance
It is not very clear what you did, therefore difficult to recommend something. I understand you upgraded from SL to Lion, and Safari did not work AFTER that upgrade? Strange, does not seem plausible. Or what other upgrade did you do? Safari is a component of the system, and should NEVER be deleted via AppDelete or any other similar app.
As I do not know what you exactly did, I would recommend to download the 10.7.2 combo update (a dmg, around 1 GB), reinstall it as a separate download. After restart, all should be again fine.
How did you reinstall Safari after deleting it with AppDelete? You write ‘The reinstallation worked fine’, could you clarify what you did?

Photo Booth Not working after reinstalling my OS
A bunch of programs got stolen from me while I was connected to the internet. My whole CS, dreamweaver and photobooth of all apps. So I reinstalled my OS so that photobooth would be back on. Now when I open it its just a blank screen.. like my camera isnt working or something. Not even, there isnt even a black screen. Its just blank. It used to work somewhat when I reinstalled it but all the view modes for the camera looked wacked out. Can anyone help me to fix my photobooth?

After upgrading my 24" iMac to 10.6.2, Photo Booth does not work.
The green light is ON but the Photo Booth window is just black. Built in isight is working with iChat.
The same happened after i upgraded my MBA.
Welcome to Discussions, palodoma !
Some other things you can try if necessary:
(1) Use Disk Utility to repair permissions, restart your Mac, and test whether the problem persists.
(2) Try all relevant suggestions from http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2090
(3) If you updated using your Macs' > Software Update... feature,
use Disk Utility to repair permissions. Then download and install the
Mac OS X v10.6.2 Update (Combo): http://support.apple.com/kb/DL959
Immediately after the restart that completes the update, repair permisssions again.
Then test whether your problem persists.
We will watch for your status update.

Mail search function does not work after reinstalling
Hello!
I recently had to re-install Leopard on my MacBook Pro.
I made a clean install so, I manually copied the Mail folder and preferences from my old home folder to the new one.
All mails are present, and everything works great, apart from the fact that the search function does not work.
I can search for new mails (that came after the reinstall) but the old ones "dont exist" as far as the mail.app goes.
What can I do about it ?It would probably be easier to do the entire hard drive. The App Store also uses Spotlight, so updating it will help there also. It takes some time to re-index and your computer will/may run slower until it is done.
Direct answer to your question is go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Then go to System Preferences/Spotlight per the linked article and in your user folder, select Library/Mail/V2.

[Solved (kind of)] Suspend not working after reinstall
Hi folks.
I did a reinstall 2 days ago and since then suspend / resume after a suspend to ram is not working. (Thinkpad x200)
As a desktop i use kde4, i also tried a dbus suspend and a pm-suspend without any X running.
Following happens using arch kernel:
- suspend is initiated and it immediately resumes;
Following happens when using my own kernel + config:
- suspend works (moon led starts blinking and finally the fan stops and the moon is the only led shining)
- after i open the lid or press the power button resume starts but the moon led is aktive, only the cpu fan starts running;
unfortunately i don't know how to log this process, as the display is not working and there's no log available of the resume process.
my rc.conf starts following daemons/programs:
metalog dbus thinkfan sshd
Thanks for any suggestions.

I add some information from the log files. State is unchanged. Both with slef baked kernel and arch kernel resume is not working

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
I have created a new Post of your own for you -- the previous Thread was unrelated to your inquiry in many ways; the Thread is no longer active.
Because you originally tagged onto someone else's Thread, it is difficult to discern whether you have indeed just reinstalled the Operating System on your system OR whether you have just picked a Post that sounded similar and added to it. To some extent, the details make the difference.
Hopefully you still have your Digital Persona Software; I do not find a replacement copy of the software in your Notebook's support pages -- I recommend you think carefully before removing your existing software. Check your Recovery Manager for the original software that was installed on your system -- the software may be available there.
The following applies to Windows 7:
Your Notebook's Support Pages:
HP Pavilion dv6-1337tx Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers
Your Validity Sensor Driver
sp45050 Validity Fingerprint Sensor V2.1.0.2.A
Please see the following Dragon Document for help to reinstall your Digital Persona software:
Instructions to Update Digital Persona
Please understand that I have not used this Software in years -- the document is provided "As Is" and without guarantee.
Click the Kudos Thumbs-Up to show you appreciate the help.
Click Accept as Solution when the Answer provides a Fix or Workaround!
I am pleased to provide assistance on behalf of HP. I do not work for HP.

Safari not working after format,
My Macbook pro was working slow and was advice by technica support to reinstall everything from cero. I reinstalled Lion 10.7 and then time machine, uploaded upgrade 10.7.5. everything worked fin but SAFARI. How can I reinstall safari without formating.
I reinstalled Lion 10.7 and then time machine
May have reinstalled a Safari plugin or that's preventing Safari from working as it should.
Help for troubleshooting plugins > Safari: Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
On a Mac running Lion v10.7, the best way to reinstall Safari is to reinstall OS X. No need to format the drive to do that. OS X: About OS X Recovery -
Safari not working after 4.0.2
My girls 3GS Internet is not working at all. I reset it and nothing. I try going into yahoo.com but the bar never moves. It just says i dont have connection, or sometimes it says that it timed out. I can't even text her pictures any more.
Any ideah of what's going on here?Hm... still no luck.
I restarted the computer as well but it didn't seem to make a difference. Adium and itunes are also still not launching, even after I set the default browser to firefox.
On my desktop is the Safari4.0.2Tiger.dmg
When I click on it, and open the Safari4.0.2.pkg I instantly get an error that says "The Application Installer quit unexpectedly"
If I send a report I get this information

Safari not working after update
I just did an auto update and now Safari is not working. It hangs when trying to save a bookmark and does not allow me close using x or Safari toolbar.
any thoughts?Try troubleshooting Safari extensions and third party plugins.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow all other plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here. -
Sound not working after reinstall
I have a Toshiba Tecra A8514 and I had to re-install my windows XP and since then my audio is not working, I have tried to install the audio driver on the site but that didnt work, any help on the matter would be great.
So you installed this driver without success.
Realtek HD Audio Driver for Windows XP
My guess is that you did not install in the correct order. You might want to start over. It's important to install the chipset software followed by the display driver before any other driver.
--------------------8<------------------- <snip> ------------------
Install them in this order. Restart after each driver and take the time to test between drivers. Some will apply and some won't.
Chipset software
Display driver
Sound driver
Modem Driver
If your machine has the internal WiFi card, then install the WLAN driver
ACPI Common Modules
Toshiba Console
Display Hotkey utility
Touchpad Driver
Toshiba Power Saver Utility
Toshiba Controls
Toshiba Utilities
--------------------8<------------------- <snip> ------------------
I would restore the hard drive myself. All this stuff is correctly preinstalled. Replacement media can be ordered by calling Toshiba Customer Service at 800-457-7777. Have the computer's serial number and a credit card handy.

Safari not working after IOS 8 upgrade
After upgrade on iphone4s safari no longer works. The app will return to home screen.
Safari returning to the home screen means the app is crashing.
Without more information, my guess is you are running low on storage. Each successive version of iOS has used more storage. So check Settings > General > Usage and make sure your available storage is at least 10% (15% would be better) of the total storage on the iPhone.
If it is not, go to Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage and do some cleanup.
Remember the iPhone 4S is now three generations old, meaning three major iOS upgrades have occurred since the 4S was released. -
Safari not working after update to mountain lion
After I updated my os to mountain lion from snow leopard, safari will not open. Any suggestions? My internet is working fine because I was able to use an alternate web browser.
Try opening safari directly from /Applications, not the dock icon. If this works, remove the dock icon and replace it.

MS-SQL + JDBCAdapter.java Error (Not working after reinstall)
Hi,
I searched for this, but never found a message that really matched.
My development computer's HD crashed, and the backup that worked the week before failed too. I reinstalled MS-SQL using default or logical values, re-attached the DBs I had been using, reinstalled JCreator V3.50 and reinstalled JDK, but this time instead of 1.40 I installed 1.50 (version 5). I'm not sure if that is the source of the problem or not.
I run an IBM laptop T-42 with Windows XP Pro. I am just working locally, so there is no network, which means there is no Domain to add to the user name. This appeared somewhere in what follows (I forget at 2:15am), but I couldn't find a way to add a placeholder domain...
The java files (which worked just fine before) now fail to execute (compile works), and the error message I see follows:
java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC]Unable to connect. Invalid URL.
at com.microsoft.jdbc.base.BaseExceptions.createException(Unknown Source)
at com.microsoft.jdbc.base.BaseExceptions.getException(Unknown Source)

at edu.washington.fammed.quest.wedgConnect.openDB(wedgConnect.java:206)
at edu.washington.fammed.quest.mmtxClassifier.initConn(mmtxClassifier.java:267)
at mqafQuestionClassifier.main(mqafQuestionClassifier.java:1053)
Class mqafQuestionClassifier creates a wedgConnect object which is based on the class Connect, which is a copy of the JDBCAdapter class.
Class wedgConnect uses the same code as JDBCAdapter, with changes to use local vars so I can see them with the dump command when I am debugging.
I've tried debugging to step through the code, but it won't let me "Step Into" deep enough to find out what happens. I get into DriverManager, but cannot get any meaningful data once I get there.
I cannot find a way to get an error number/message that is meaningful. (I am a self-taught Java programmer, took classes, but admit I lack good debugging skills.)
It looked to me to be a userName/password problem, so that is what I focused on.
I tried opening the SQL Server Enterprise Manager, right-clicking on the (local) (Windows NT) server to bring up the Properties dialog, going to Security tab and changing the Authentication to SQL Server AND Windows, as opposed to Windows only. >> FAILED.
I tried using the SQL Server Enterprise Manager "Security" >> Logins by creating a new one so I knew the password >> FAILED>
I tried using name="sa", pw=[known pw] >> FAILED.
All other known SQL Login names/pws >> FAILED.
I tried creating a User in the DB I want to use, with known name/pw >> FAILED. (That name/pw should have been irrelevant, but I was getting desperate.)
I tried using name=[Windows Login User Name], pw=[Windows Login User PW] >> FAILED.
I have tried just about everything I could think of, nothing works.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Jeff
