  • Safari not working with Yosemite- incompatible with google search too

Ever since I upgraded my macbook pro, Safari has been slow.  In the past 2 days, it's more than slow - it's impossible.  I am able to get to pages I have bookmarked or get to links in email documents - but every time I try to do a search using the search bar in Safari, it hangs.  Sometimes I get a list of possible websites (after a few minutes) but if I click on any of those, Safari just hangs there and won't go.  I even had to use Chrome in order to generate this question in the discussion groups. Does anyone have any suggestions other than using an alternate browser.   Is it possible that google and Safari on Yosemite are incompatible? I did try using the "Develop" menubar option and chose DuckDuckgo as the search tool and it worked a bit better.
This is now the 2nd big issue I've had with Yosemite -- it totally would not work with my Adobe Photoshop Elements program -- I spent hours on the Adobe forums and discovered that 100s of others were also having issues.  It turned out to be a problem with Yosemite and the trackpad.  Adobe finally came up with a temporary plugin that allows Elements (and other Adobe programs) to run.
Suggesions on Safari other than ditching it and using Chrome?

    Try a Safari reset.
Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. Then try Safari/History/Show History and delete all history items.  Quit/reopen Safari and test. You can also try try Safari/Clear History and Web Site Data. The down side is it clears all cookies.Doing this may cause some sites to no longer recognize your computer as one that has visited the web site.

  • Flash, Adobe Air, Time Machine, Safari not  working with Snow Leopard

Really need some help with this.
Did an archive and install of Leopard then installed Snow Leopard. No problems yet.
90% of Video sites would not work. Uninstalled and reinstalled Flash. Uninstalled ShockWave, could not reinstall with 10.6.1.
Attempt to install adobe air, received this message: "couldn't write the application to hard drive - please verify and try again." performed verify disk, disk permissions, repair permissions all ok.
Attempted to install Air again, same message.
Tried to use Time Machine to open Safari from a week ago, received message: I did not have permission.
Using Macbook Pro, 2g memory, 80g hd, with 42g free.
    Backed up on ext. HD,
Oh, one more, getting a lot of spinning wheels when using Safari that causes a lockup and hard re-start.
I have an expensive piece of software that uses adobe air and I create videos for my business and I'm not able to do so now.
Can anyone give me any ideas what I can do.
    Thanks,

After a couple of days of problems with Snow Leopard and flash, safari etc... I figured out the problem is with my account.
I created a new admin account and everything seems to be working. Well almost.
a couple of things I've noticed are right clicking on dock icons does nothing, no option to quit or keep in dock.
Apple Techs', had me change my account months ago to fix a problem with safari crashing. It didn't really work and more problems resulted.
*So now my big question is: How do I move need items over to the new account.* I don't want to move everything over as I might bring what caused the problem in the first place.
What I need are several apps,(like ilife, iwork, firefox, devonthink, 1password etc.) downloads, desktop, docs, files, and book marks.
*What is the best way for me to do this?* Is there anything I need to do re: Snow Leopard on the new account?
I feel like I have a new and functioning Mac again just around the corner.
    Looking for your help, thanks,

  • Safari not working with snow leopard

i just upgrade my os to snow leopard and safari safari promted that it needed to be updated in order to work with this os,,,,i reinstall safari witht the latest one and it still doing it,,, please help?

    Hello Q:
    Welcome to Apple discussions.
I have no idea (from your post) what you have done. Upgrading to OS X 10.6 should have installed the latest Safari version (4.0.3).
If I were you, I would upgrade to OS X 10.6 (again). It will install over whatever you have on yoru system.

  • Safari not working with certain sites

Not sure if this is related to the Java issues posted but i just upgraded to safari 4.0.1 and sites that worked before do not now. eg. try http://www1.parknshop.com/WebShop/DeliveryDetails.do;jsessionid=Iaded68owLIVUKAj LPJq2rfCD32wI1yDld0aLztDN7bQfohwQsk2!817254534. you can log on but when you actually try to shop and add things to the basket it doesnt work. if you keep hitting "refresh" then the images start to pop up but obviously cant keep doing this. all worked fine in safari 3.

I don't know if you are still having the problems or not but I have fixed them on my Macbook. The problem was a Java issue and not Safari. I guess the Java update and Safari 4.0.1 updates were installed at the same time on my machine. I did an archive and install then updated everything except Java and Safari. At that point, with Safari 3.2.3, everything worked like it should. So I installed the Java update and Safari 3.2.3 was still working like it should. So I installed Safari 4.0.2. Still working like it should. I did find some information after I did the archive and install that said reinstalling the Java update can possibly fix the problem. So I would try that before doing anything else. The Java update can be found here.

  • IOS 8 Safari not working with sites using Windows Authentication (again)

A testbed of iPhones and iPads were updated to iOS 8 today. When trying to access intranet sites in our company that use Windows (IIS) Authentication, it challenges for the login and password 2 or 3 times, then nothing - just hangs.  These sites work fine on iOS 7 devices - and worked on the same devices that were upgraded.
Windows Authentication was broken in iOS 7.0 also and not fixed until a later update. Why does this keep getting broken?

This was a thread that discussed this when it was broken in iOS 7.0...
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5327078?start=0&tstart=0
I just tested with Chrome on the iPhone upgraded to iOS 8 and it works fine. It is Safari that is broken again.
Of course, Apple won't give us a way to make Chrome the default browser when links are clicked in emails, so it's not exactly a solution.

  • Does "onchange" not work with form submits?

    Hello,
I have a simple select menu that I want to behave such that if the user clicks on any menu item, the form automatically submits. So here is the snippet of code:
    <h:selectOneMenu id="allUserResidentialFeatures"
    value="#{residentialFeaturesDTO.map.allUserResidentialFeatures}"
    onchange="document.forms['myForm'].submit()">
    <f:selectItems
    value="#{utilitiesDelegate.referenceHandlesFromDTOsMap1}"/>
    </h:selectOneMenu>
What happens is that if you click on the submit BUTTON, everything works fine: validation and the backing bean action is called, and navigation occurs.
BUT if you click on the MENU above, the form does something I cannot understand: the fields are validated (so it is going to the back end server), but then the form is redisplayed once again - and the backing bean action is NOT called.
Obviously the JSF lifecycle here is being short-circuited - even though I did not put "immediate='true'". But why? Isn't pressing the "submit" button and calling the "submit()" function exactly the same (ignoring the onsubmit event handler difference)?
very confused.. a day has passed on this .. if you can help, thanks.

More information on this problem that I have yet to solve: I implemented a PhaseListener to trace the application during the two submits. There is a difference that I cannot explain:
If the form is submitted using the regular submit button (an h:commandbutton), the application transitions thru all phases normally, and during the INVOKE_ACTION phase, the beforePhase and afterPhase events sandwich the actual invocation to the backingbean action. In other words, I do see the call to the backing bean's action method.
But if the form is submitted using the automatic "onchange" submit() from the select menu, the phases are progressed normally as before BUT the beforePhase and afterPhase events occur with NOTHING between them: the action is not invoked.
    Any idea why???

Where did you get the firmware, and what specifically was it for? You need to know this before downloading or installing anything.

  • Apps not working with docomo after updating new sw...

    hello brother,
    i have updated my nokia c2-00 sw v3.99 .
After updating new sw v.3.99 my apps not working with tata docomo only .
    Docomo is my personal sim-card.
What can do for get ride it.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hello, Premkoli. Which specific apps are you referring to? Are these apps downloaded from the Store, or preloaded ones? When you say 'my apps not working with tata docomo only', does it mean that these apps work with other SIM cards aside from TaTa Docomo? How did you update your Nokia C2-00? Is it by going to Settings > Phone > Device Updates > Check for updates, or via Nokia Suite?
Since the issue started after the software update, you can try to reinstall the phone's SW via Nokia Suite. Just download it on your PC, and then connect the phone via a compatible USB cable. After that, launch Nokia Suite, and the go to SW Updates > Device Software Updates > Reinstall current SW. After that, try opening the same apps and see if they'll work with your Docomo SIM card. Get Nokia Suite from this link: Nokia Suite
    Let us know the outcome.

  • Adobe Flash Player does not work with Safari. What can I do?

    Hi,
I have a MacBook Pro, Retina, 15 inch, late 2013,  2 GHz Intel Core i7, using OS X 10.9.4. I have installed Adobe Flash Player. In my System Preference, in the advanced settings, it is set to install updates also tells me that I have the NPAPI Plug-in (version 14.0.0.145) installed but not the PPAPI Plug-in. Is this the reason why it does not work with Safari (keeps telling me to download the app, which I did but still does not work)? Is there any way I could fix the problem? Please, help.
    Thanks.

If you can't install or update Flash, follow these instructions.
If you have installed the latest version of Flash, please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 8. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or restart the computer before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data...
and confirm. Close the window. Then select
               ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
    a. If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then select the Security tab in the Safari preferences window. In the list of plugins on the left, there should be one—and only one—entry for "Adobe Flash Player," showing the same version number that you installed. Select that entry. On the right there will be a list of websites for which you have specifically allowed Flash, if any. It's normal for the list to be empty. Below that is a menu labeled
              When visiting other websites
From that menu, select either Allow or Ask.
    b. If you still get the alerts, then go back to the Flash Player preference pane and select the Advanced tab. Click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
    c. If the alerts still persist, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
              Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
In the Safari preferences window, select the Advanced tab and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Step 6
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
              Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 7
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 8
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
              Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
              Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 9
    Select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

  • I upgraded Safari in my Mac (10.6.8 Leopard) but the new version does not work with my system so that I now have not a working browser. How can I solve the problem and/or install back my previous Safari version?

I have upgraded Safari in my Mac, but the new Safari does not work with my system. So I find myself without any working browser. How can I solve this problem and/or install my previous Safari version?

Reinstall Safari 5.1.10 for OS X 10.6.8: http://support.apple.com/kb/dl1569. Might do the trick.
But, frankly, I don't think that simply reinstalling the old Safari will work because of all the peripheral, under the hood changes that happen when you upgrade from one version of Safari to another. Reinstalling 5.1.10 may be insufficient to turn back the clock. (This is the moment where a Time Machine or another form of full backup would save your bacon.)
While you're getting a copy of Safari 5.1.10, get a copy of Firefox (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/desktop/), too, so that you have an alternate browser to use as you're sorting matters.

  • My web form is not working with PayPal

Only seamless gateways such as the "Pro" version of PayPal, eWay or Authorize.net will work with form payments. Gateways that have the user leave BC, such as PayPal Standard, Google Checkout or Realex, only work with the online store.

    I did further testing:
    1. I turned off the IPN and I still received the Error page.
    2. Than I went and turned off the Payment Data Transfer, and now I got the blank page... /PaymentProcess.aspx?paypal=success. However, I still got the paypal transaction ID attached to the orders.
    3. I turned on the IPN and still got the blank  /PaymentProcess.aspx?paypal=success and I still got the paypal transaction ID attached to the orders. So the conclusion is that IPN has no bearing on payments made with PayPal Standard when it is used with custom forms.
    4. I chaged the URL in the Return URL to go to the secure home page instea of to /PaymentProcess.aspx. and...it still sent me to the PaymentProcess.aspx and I still got the paypal transaction ID attached to the orders.
    5. I made the purchase using shoping cart to ensure it works too and this time I even received the receipt on the /PaymentProcess.aspx. The Ref# and Auth Code were "Not Applicable" but it still worked and it was recorded in the orders with the paypal transaction ID
    So my conclusions are:
    1. IPN has no bearing on PayPal payments made from the custom web form
    2. Payment Data Transfer being on sends to the pafe that can't be processesd and it renders Error message
    3. Return URL always send you to the PaymentProcess/aspx regardless what secure url you put in there.
    4. Transcation ID is always passed to the orders as long as it can connect to PayPal. I guess ur will do it as long as the Payment Gateway has the proper informration in there.
    5. It works the same from the custom web form and from checkout form.
I hope this sheds some light and serves some purpose to whoever is completely confused by this as I am.
Mario and Liam, thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
