Safari on iPad won't open web pages

Hi , my safari on my ipad won't load web pages when it try to open them from an email. They are common websites such as amazon or bbc... Ones that I use regularly until last week when the problem started.
Any suggestion on how to fix this would be welcome... Or I'll have to make an appointment to go to my nearest Apple store which is miles away.
Thanks

  • IPad Safari randomly won't open web pages

Every now and then when I try and look at certain pages through Safari on my iPad 2 I get the message "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding". Its not all web pages just some of them and usually happens when I go through the Twitter app. I can view the same site on my iPhone and iMac so I know it's not that which is down. Sometimes clearing the cookies helps but other times I open a new tab, peruse another part of the web then refresh the first site and everything works.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? I don't remember if it happened before I upgraded to iOS5 so it could be that too. Either way it's very frustrating and I even tried another web browser app but still seemed to have problems! I've tried forgetting my home network then reconnecting, I've wiped and restored the iPad and no luck, please help!

    Try this:
    Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data

  • My browser won't open web pages for me. The server says it's not their fault and Safari can't find Google

I use Firefox and had several tabs set to open when I logged on. But while these remain open, my browser won't open any more pages, even when the Google search page finds my own web page, it won't open it.
The same thing happened when I tried my Safari browser, except this time it wouldn't even open Google. My server, a broadband/cable company says it has nothing to do with them and blame my laptop or browser. Any suggestions?

I've sorted this out. I did an extensive hard disc search and found old anti-virus software I hadn't shut down or uninstalled. That done, everything's working again, sweet as a nut. Thank you!

  • My iPad won't load web pages, even though it was working fine two days ago.

Up until 2 days ago I had no problems with my iPad 3.
However now it will not load any web pages at all (Using Safari). In order to get it to load web pages I either
have to reboot or turn it off and then on again. It then connects but only ever to one page at a time.
I don't understand what the issue is since it was fine before. It is not my Wifi network as it works fine on
    other laptops.

    Try this:
    1. Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
    2. Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

  • Won't open homepage on open, won't open web pages from the menu 'open new window', Can't open menu button

Ok, since update to version 31.0, I have been having some problems.
I have tried doing everything stated in the support page about resetting, reinstalling, safe mode, restarting pc etc.
First problem, when I open Firefox no web page loads. It just says New Tab and a blank white page. If I press the home button I am taken to my homepage which is google.
Second problem, when I right click on a link and the menu pops up, if I click open in new window, a new window opens but it just says New Tab with a blank page and no URL information, just blank.
Third problem, the Open Menu button just doesn't work at all. You can click all you like, that thing is not opening.
I am really stuck as to what to do. I have only been using Firefox for about a month and t was good until these problems. If I can't resolve it, I will have to use another browser as it is really annoying.
I am using Windows 8.1 by the way and have scanned my computer thouroughly for both virus's and malware.

Hi zenithtwc, to test whether this is a settings issue, could you do a three-minute experiment?
    '''Create a new Firefox profile'''
A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.
Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):
    firefox.exe -P
''Don't delete anything here.'' Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.
Click the Create Profile button, assign a name like Test731, and skip the option to change the folder location. Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.
    Can it reach the internet?
When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.

  • Won't open web page in new window

Ever since the 5.0 upgrade when I click on a tab to open in a new window firefox just opens a blank new window. This is driving me crazy. So if I have 5 tabs going and say I want to watch a youtube video on my other monitor while I'm doing something else, I right click on the tab and click on open in new window and i just get a blank window. So I have to copy and paste the address in the new blank window. I am about to switch to google chrome its very inconvenient.
    Thanks!

There are some Flash objects on the web page.
    * "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
    * "Remove the Cookies" from sites that cause problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Safari won't open web page that Firefox will open

    Hello,
I have a specific page on my website that Safari will not display but Firefox will. I have cleared the cache, cookies. Shut down everything, started up...no help.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks in advance
    G5 iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi Eve
Web design & programming are done by humans and nothing is perfect. BUT the site compatibility issues may force me, albeit reluctantly, to switch browsers. I hope Apple, will please, please make Safari more compatible. Form is secondary to function.
On the Mac platform, multiple browsers is the way to go if you want to cover all bases. Here's a list of available browsers:
    Firefox 2.0.0.5
    Camino,
    Mozilla,
    Opera,
    Shiira,
    OmniWeb (shareware).
The Internet has evolved into quite a mess when it comes to site coding practices. For example, there are some sites, using antiquated, proprietary Microsoft software (such as ActiveX) that simply will not play on the Mac platform, Further complicating this situation, some site developers have a tendency to create sites coded specifically for Internet Explorer for Windows, and/or use sloppy coding, which invites other problems into the web experience. By contrast, Safari conforms strictly to web standards promulgated by the Web Standards Project, which may trigger rendering problems when it comes to these sites. In this instance, it's helpful to contact the site developer about your awkward browsing experience.
So there's quite a mix-bag on the web. Personally, I prefer using a browser adhering to coding standards designed to promote conformity, security and safe browsing, rather than the alternative of "form over function". For that reason, Safari is definitely my browser of choice.
For video content, such as Yahoo, CNN etc., which does not play as well on Safari (because of how the developers code these sites), I use Firefox. Others here report Camino or Shiira being good alternatives.
On OS X it's quite easy to have multiple apps open at the same time, so going back and forth between browsers is not a problem. Also, you can export your existing Safari bookmarks to another browser, which maintains some degree of uniformity.

  • Safari won't open web page on my domain with apple e-mail program open

    Mail Version 3.2
Imac 2.4 ghz 3 gig ram
Mac OS x 10.5.2 up to date
After installing Safari 3.1, I have had an issue that I thought was going to drive me mad. If I have the mail program open, I cannot access any webpage on my domain. Lets say my domain was vvv.com. If I have the mail program open I cannot access www.vvv.com, no any subdomains on there. If I close the mail program and then just refresh the page in the browser, it works just fine. I have searched thru the forums, but cannot identify a solution. If anyone has an idea for me to try, I would appreciate any feedback and helpful hints. Yes, I know that I can just close the email program, but I am in the process of starting up a business website and having to remember to open my email program every so often is something I don't need.
And by the way, the problem also affects firefox also.
    Thanks in advanced..

  • Safari 7 Won't Open Web Page

  • Safari on iPad won't open links, just show 'Pin it'

I am running the latest IOS.  My wife will go to a site, like dillards.com, and go to a list of items for sale (bras to be specific).  Pressing the link will, in most cases, just bring up a 'Pin it' pasted on top of the product picture.  In order to go to the full product description, she has to hold down on the picture, and then a popup will appear with an option to open the link in a new tab.
How do we get rid of the annoying 'Pin it' option, and just go directly to the product description?  I don't see any settings in Safari to control that.  Or is this a 'feature' from the website?  If it is, they're pretty dumb since it slows down the potential sale of one of their items.

    Try this:
    Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data

  • .pages file created in Pages for Mac won't open in Pages for iPad

Just created a pages document on my Mac, saved it to my google drive and when attempting to "open in" from my google drive the file won't open in pages for iPhone or iPad (mini).
All versions of Pages are on latest release.
    Messge reads:
    Document can't be imported.
    The file format is invalid.
I download both the mac app and ios app a week ago.
    Thank you for any info!

I've been testing file structures via google drive this morning and have yet to find a solution.
Compressed files will not open in Pages on the ipad and an upload to Google Drive of a .pages document re downloaded to my desktop will no longer open in Pages on the Mac.
Somewhere in the google ecosystem during upload or download / "open in" (on the ipad) the file is being restructured so that it cannot be recognized.
An hour call with the team at Google hasn't supplied an answer yet and they have opened a case file to investigate.
I'll update when I hear back.
    Thanks!

  • TS3276 i am unable to open web pages from email links on my ipad

I am unable to open web pages from email links on my ipad

A few more details might help, if nobody else recognizes this.
What happens when you try to open the links?
Can you post an example of a link that doesn't work?
Is there any particular source for the mail with the (bad) links, or is mail from all sources failing?
If you happen to know it, what's the format of the mail message?  (Maybe the message is an image?)
Do the embedded links work as expected from an OS X system running Mail.app, or some system and some other other mail client?
To view the link in iOS: if you press on and hold your finger on an embedded link in most contexts, iOS will show a pop-up with the link contents, and will offer to copy it.  You can use that to acquire and post the link.  If pressing and holding on the link doesn't offer the pop-up, the format of the link itself may not be valid, or it might not really be a link.

    What should I do?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Please take this step regardless of the results of Step 1.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of Steps 1 and 2.
