Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
Then restart your iPad.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button down until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

My ipad recognizes my home network but will not connect to the internet. When I click on AirPort/preferences at the top of the imac screen it says..."AirPort has a self-assigned ip address and may not connect to the internet". If this is the root of the problem, how can I change ip address?
Ipad will connect no problem to other networks.

First thing you need I think is to get your iMac connected to the Internet.
Shut down your iMac and you iPad. Then power off your router. Wait 30 seconds and power up the router.
After the router indicates that it is connected to the Internet then start up your iMac and see if it connects. If the iMac connects to the Internet then your iPad should too.
If this power up sequence doesn't work you'll have to dig into the router setup to make sure it is working properly.

  • My IPad2 will not connect to the internet, "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding."  My AirPort utility shows that I am connected.  What could be the problem?

My iPad2 will not connect to the internet, "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding".  I've run the AirPort utility and it shows that I'm connected to my Wi-Fi.  The connection works with both my iMac and iPhone.  I'm concerned that the problem is with hardware rather than software.

    Try the following:
    1. Turn router off for 30 seconds and on again
    2. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    3. Reset iPad; hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo

  • My imac and ipad2 will not connect to the internet with Windstream using an 2wire DSL modem.

Help my brand new imac and ipad2 will not connect to the internet with Windstream using an "2WIRE" DSL modem.  Windstream tech service is useless.  i can connect with the built in router through Ethernet or wireless, but still no connecting to internet, help!  windstream said everything is working on their end, yea right.  What i do know is that both the mac and ipad work at other places and can connect with wireless connected to the internet, so i know it's not the apple products.
these are brand new machines with lion.
This is my first mac, so I’m still new to how it works, which is not helping either so a detailed help would be great.  Please help before my wife losses it
    thanks

There is a 2701HG-B, and a 2701HG-D.  If not labelled on the modem, ask Windstream which one they presently supply or how to tell the difference.
By the way tell your wife it isn't that bad.  At least you have an ethernet DSL modem.  There were times where DSL modems had RJ-11, USB, and Ethernet, and all three were used to provide access.  At least now only the craziest DSL providers still use those modems.

  • HT1695 my ipad2 will not connect to the internet, it says that it "unable to join"...but my laptop is connected to the internet.... i don't understand why all of a sudden it stopped connecting it dosent make sense

hmm, well I would say that raises the possibility of an issue with your ipad, and lessens one with your router.

  • Safari claiming I am not connected to the internet....

This could possibly be a wireless internet issue, but I'm leaning more toward it being something wrong with Safari:
Usually, late at night when I am browsing the internet, the website I'd been using successfully already will stop loading and the "you are not connected to the internet" page will appear. I can reload multiple times getting the same error message. I'll navigate to another site on my favorites bar and that site works. Then a different site and that one won't. There is not pattern to which ones won't load and when, and if I quit Safari and reopen, it often starts to work again.
I think it is Safari because I figured if something was wrong with my wireless internet, it would restrict my access to all of the internet in general, not just random sites.
Should I delete Safari and reinstall? Also, how would I properly uninstall Safari?

    Hi,
Open System Preferences / Network. Click the "Assist Me" button then click the Diagnostics button.
If any of the buttons on the left are red, click Continue. If all of the buttons are green, try different DNS.
Back to System Preferences / Network then click the Advanced button then select the DNS tab.
    Click +
Type in these numbers exactly as you see them here: 208.67.222.222
Click + again and type in these numbers: 208.67.220.220
    Click OK then Apply.

Best to troubleshoot the current copy of Safari you have installed then reinstalling.
Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. If you have any Extensions installed, turn that OFF. Something there might be interferring with your internet connection.
Follow the troubleshooting help here if you have any Safari third party unsupported plug ins installed.

  • Wi-fi is connected but safari and mail say "not connected to the internet" and "check outgoing server"

When I try to connect to safari, I receive the notice "safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the internet".  I get a similar message when i attempt to open any of my three mail accounts, which I have since deleted and tried to reset.  The message is something along the lines of "cannot open account - check outgoing mail server..."
I am using the same wi-fi address I've always used.  The ipod shows that it is connected to the server and should not be having problems.
I've already done a network reset, twice.  Other computers in my house work just fine.  This was a spontaneous issue that began two days ago.  Again, it's affecting both mail and safari (that includes itunes store, maps, anything internet based, really - it says "cannot connect")
    Thanks.

I am using a MacBook Air connected to my home WiFi and the connection is trouble free. When I try to connect my 3G iPhone to the same network it asks for my password to join and then shows the WiFi connection with full bars BUT when I launch Safari on the iPhone is says:
    "Cannot Open Page"
"Safari cannot open the page because it is not connected to the Internet"
I went to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings ... and this did not help
I went to Setting > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings ... and this did not help
I checked the DNS settings under Wi-Fi > my home network > DHCP and the address there (192.168.10.1) matched the number on my MacBook Air under "Network Preferences"
Safari on my iPhone was working flawlessly with Wi-Fi connection only 24 hours ago.

  • Ipad 2 safari says I'm not connected to the internet

i have put a microsim into my ipad and it has a 3G network.  Every time I try to open to the net using safari it tells I'm not connected to the internet, but I am. I'm not sure what's going on. It's fine in wi-fi areas.  I don't have wifi at home so I use the sim.  But it won't connect properly.

This may be on the carrier-side of the problem. Contact your 3G provider to see if they have a solution to this situation.

Email still works, crappy IE still works. I downloaded the new 4.0 ran the standard install, clicked finish, and Firefox has not connected to the internet since. I've rebooted a couple of times.

    Open System Preferences/Network
Select the Location you use at home
You may need to click the Padlock bottom left at this point if it's locked, enter the admin password to unlock
In the left hand column drag the Ethernet connection to the top of the list and remove any you don't use
Click the Advanced button bottom right
    Click the TCP/IP Tab
Set Configure IPv4 to Using DHCP
Click OK bottom right and you should see the Router IP number appear and a unique but similar one for your Mac
Click Ok then click Apply and close the Panel

  • My printer is saying that its not connected to the internet How do i fix this

My printer is actting funny...Yesterday i printed my son a picture off the apps on the printer but now its saying that its not connected to the internet but it was just working fine yesterday i have a hp officejet 6500A Any help would be greatly appriciated

    hello javy,
first i would like to ask does this happen with all apps on the printer or just the one apps you used previously ?
Also i would suggest Resetting the router that the printer is connected to and Also Power cycle the printer,
In order you would go to the Printer and turn it off, and then turn the power of the router off,, wait about 15-20 seconds and then turn the Router back on, Wait for all the lights to come back on and then what you would want to do is turn the printer back on,, basically what this does  is refresh the connection from the printer to the router itself
    I am an HP employee.

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
