Safari on iPhone - frequent screen, unnecessary, refresh

Ever since installing IOS 5.0 on 3GS iPhone - in Safari when moving from one page to another there are frequent repeated and unnecessary screen refreshes. Almost every time a change of page I have to wait for Safari to completely re-download that page. What's the fix?

You cannot downgrade iOS.
(Well technically, you can, but it requires having done some things to your phone before you upgraded it. Unless you backed up something called an shsh blob, it is impossible. And if you don't know what that is, you haven't done it.)
As for getting a new Mac, it's up to you. If you are deciding between the MacBook Pro and the MacBook Air, here's my advice. if you travel a lot or are on a tight budget, go with the Air. If you want a computer that's more powerful and will last longer, get the Pro and buy an SSD for it.

Disable full screen safari on iPhone

After upgrading to iOS 7, I noticed that the toolbar disappears in safari while browsing. I am a heavy user of the back button and the bookmarks button. Both of them only require a single touch to use in iOS 6. Now that the toolbar disappears, if I want to use the back button, I either have swipe completely left to right or swipe down to get the toolbar back so I can use the back button. For the bookmarks button, I have to swipe down to bring back the toolbar and then I can use it. Alternatively, I can try to chicken peck the bottom of the screen with the hopes that the toolbar will reappear. If I use this alternative approach, sometimes it works, sometimes nothing happens, and sometimes I hit an ad by mistake.
Is there a way to disable full screen mode in safari on iPhone? I will gladly give up the additional real estate to have a persistent toolbar. It works better with the way I browse.

Try this app. I've used it for a year or so and it takes full screen pics. It doesnt offer a ton of advanced functionality but it works. It also allows users to take photos by tapping anywhere on the screen (which was my original reason for downloading). Enjoy

This is a feature called Reachability - was not sure if the 6 had it - the 6 Plus does - lightly double tapping the home button makes the upper half of the screen slide lower for easier one handed operation - you can turn it on or off in settings

Safari came with the phone and cannot be deleted. It is there somewhere. Look for it on another screen or in a folder. Place finger in middle of screen and swipe down to reveal search and type in safari. Go to settings/general/reset/reset home screen layout and find safari again

Frequent screen freezes with os 10.8.3

I am experiencing frequent screen freezes with OS 10.8.3 on my 27" iMac, Late 2009. Sometimes while using Safari, sometimes while using Photoshop CS5.1, Sketchup 8, or other software. Rarely does it coincide with a processor intensive operation. I have not had this problem since my old white G5 iMac. Then it was aleading indicator that the CPU or power supply needed replacing (I went through 5 processors and 6 power supplies with that machine.) I took my current iMac in to the Apple Store and had it checked out. Hardware checked out fine, but the freezes are becoming more frequent. Does anyone have any suggestions?

The next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

IPhone 3G screen jumping!!

After upgrading to version 2.02 now my iphone 3G screen jumps, locks up and does not allow me to operate the phone at all. Anyone experiencing this?

I replaced my first 3G iPhone due to a crack in the bottom between the port and the screw. I had a very similar problem when typing info on safari with this first phone. As I would type in the search field the screen would zoom in and out. It was quite annoying but it wasn't a constant thing. Typically it happened when I was logging into a website or putting info into a search field. Luckily I have yet to experience this sort of issue with my new phone.
This issues I was having with the first phone were before the first two software updates had come out. I would suggest making sure you have updated your phone with the latest software updates.

sounds like you won't be able to do a backup. Hopefully, if you've been using your phone as directed, you've been backing up frequently so you won't have much data loss.

Configure search box Safari on iPhone

For time time I thought this was an issue with Google and so was trying to resolve through Google forums - but I can now see it is a problem with Safari on iPhone.
When I originally set up my iPhone I was living in India, 3 months ago I moved to Scotland.
My iPhone is aware I'm in Scotland for virtually every purpose - except for the search box in the top right of Safari - which continues to think I'm in India.
I start from completely reset Safari (clearing cookies and search history) and I double press home and kill the Safari app.
I get a blank Safari screen. If I type google in the address box, the first entry that is suggested is google.co.uk - great.
If I type google in the search box in the top right, I can see in the address box that it is using google.co.in and sure enough the first suggested site that pops up is google.co.in. (And more practically whenever I use the search box - e.g. to find a local business - I'm always offered businesses in India at the top of the search results - and as they're 5000 miles away that's not that useful!)
So having seen that the search box is obviously configured to google.co.in, I tried changing the search provider in settings - I chose Yahoo instead - then type something in the search box and I get UK results and it does use yahoo.co.uk. Having done this I assume if I choose Google again as my search provider it will now be intelligent check where I am and use the right google site - but it doesn't - it just puts google.co.in back again.
So I'm stuck - I want to use google, but I can't stop it using India for the search box - I guess it's a bug - when choosing the search provider Safari SHOULD check location - or at least offer an option to do so - instead of just using the same one that was used when the phone was originally configured.
Can anyone suggest a way round this?

What is "Settings > General > International > Region Format" set to?
That is the setting which governs which local Google to use.

i was on fb this morning on my macbook pro
that was around 4 AM
after i got off work, around 9:30 am, it wouldnt launch
it keeps saying SAFARI CANNOT FIND FACEBOOK SERVER
but everything else works: YOUTUBE, ETSY, CTV, BANKING
safari from iphone 4 to launch facebook worked too.... my internet is working fine, but this morning i did also have a freak accident of some sort on my other app called FITBIT, its an app that works with a fitness tracker device.... it wouldnt detect device to sync data, saying check internet connection, i finally got fed up and tried deleting it, i guess it was in use? it tells me to put it back or end it first, i end it, still cannot delete, so i put it back... now the dock showed a broken app design.... so i shutdown mac and power it up, it lets me delete.... i reinstall... everything there is fine now.... but what happened to safari facebook? did i break that too?
is it possible to delete safari? and i dunno.. like reinstall it? short of yanking the router power i dunno what else to do... help me!!!!

For your iPhone ...
It's not a virus and pre installed apps such as Safari cannot be deleted.
Try resetting > iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
Then restart iPhone. Try Facebook.
For your Mac.
With Safari open, from the menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Privacy tab
Click: Remove All Website Data
Now press Command + Option + E to empty the Safari cache.
Try Safari.
For a Mac running v10.7 Lion or v10.8 Mountain Lion, Safari on a Mac can only be reinstalled by using OS X: About OS X Recovery
For a Mac running v10.6 Snow Leopard or a previous OS X, you can reinstall OS X (includes Safari) from the install disc that came with your Mac.
If you aren't certain which OS X is installed, click the Apple menu icon top left in your screen.
From the drop down menu click About This Mac. The version is noted there.

IPhone 6 screen rotates to landscape without me physically moving my iPhone

HI I noticed that my iPhone 6 keeps rotating to landscape without me moving my iPhone, for example if I'm on safari and I get a banner notification it rotates to landscape automatically, also if I click on a photo on Twitter iOS app the photo opens in landscape (even though the photo is clearly a portrait)... no I don't have the rotate lock on...
I Don't think the iPhone 6 screen should jyay rotate to landscape without me moving physically the iPhone to landscape view... Also the worst part is that when It does that as much as I move my iPhone it won't get to portrait view back again, unless I close everything or if I turn the lock rotate screen on, then it will go back to Portrait...
What can I do? Is it just me or is it an ios 8.0.2 bug?

The thinner the phone and the bigger the screen, the more delicate the phone
But the iPhone is not the only device that has those problems when getting dropped.
Buying a shockproof case could solve this, although I have read posts where even those cases did not help.

IPhone 6 screen blacks out

My iPhone 6 screen keeps shutting off and the phone does not respond, until I do a reset (home/power button). This started happening after the 8.1.2 upgrade, and now happens very frequently. If I call my iPhone from another line, I get a ringing tone (not switched off), but theres absolutely no response on my iPhone. Can someone please help me? I have a iPhone 6 128 GB, bought SIM free in the UK

Sadly, it didnt work. Went into a lot of trouble restoring from the iCloud (I have about 20GB of music and it all had to be downloaded all over again), and the problem is still there. I also did a restore, setting up the phone as a new phone, and the problem is still there. One thing I noticed is that the phone is heating up a lot more than it did earlier. Based on whats on the forums, it seems that I have to get the phone replaced, but I can do this only when I am in the UK next time. Till then, I guess I'd have to suffer in silence

Safari always opens at the web page last viewed. There is no home page for mobile Safari. To open a web page, tap the address field (on the left side of the title bar), then type the web address and tap Go. Or you can use the search field (at the right side of the title bar) to iniate a search.
