Safari on Windows - Do we get Mail too?

I want to move to Safari on windows for my browser instead of IE on my Compaq Laptop PC
Does this mean that i can use Apple Mail on a windows? does it come with Safari like Outlook express comes with IE?
Is this possible?

Apple OS X Mail application is just that.
An OS X application that doesn't run on Windows OS's.

Everytime I try to download Safari for Windows all I get is a small file of 4k, called SafariSetup.exe.
Seems to be an incomplete download.Tried on my MacBook and my PC same result. Is there a problem with the download? Tried in safari mac, opera, firefox and google chrome.

That's the right filename, but certainly the wrong file size for a Safari Installer.
How are you connecting to the internet with the MacBook and the PC, Mark?

Safari Preferences - I don't get the full choice....

Hi All
When I open the Safari Preferences window I only get the rectangular window that is Autofill. I don't get the bigger window that has all the other choices such as General, Appearance, Bookmarks, Tabs, Autofill, Security and Advanced....
The reason I am trying to get the other windows is that I am trying to change the cookie settings as I cannot log on into a hotmail account.
Very bizarre But would appreciate some help here as it's bugging me as I don't think I am Mac stupid having always used one since 1991!

Hi Guys - thanks for being helpful, but I'm hitting a blank.
Firstly, there is no little 'oval' button in the dark grey bit (Been to see that there is one on another computer).
So, did as instructed and threw the .plist file away from the Library part of my hard drive....but here's the problem, it automatically keeps replacing itself in that Preferences folder in the User folder as soon as I throw the other away. Very bizarre....!
If you guys have any other ideas, or advice as to what order I should do what in, it would be real cool to hear them.

Your answer also taught me to be a little more persistent, as I had started looking at Preferences, and just didn't notice the icons (including Applications) at the top of that window that would have led me to my answer.

Safari for Windows 7 - Where can I get a safe download?

I want to download Safari for my Windows 7 PC. I cannot find 5.1.7 on the Apple website. Is that the one that I should be looking for? If so, where can I get a download of it that won't include a bunch of garbage.
Or, if there is a version that I can download from Apple, which version should I choose?

Safari for Windows was discontinued a couple years ago. By now it's outdated, not standards compliant, etc.. There's no reason why you should use it.

In Safari go to View > Show Toolbar.
Go to View > Customize Toolbar and drag whatever elements you want (like the default set at the bottom) to your tool bar.

A new tab opens by default as a blank tab (about:blank).
If that isn't the case then an extension has changed that behavior.

You can middle-click or hold down Ctrl and left-click the Home button on the Navigation toolbar to open the Home page in a new tab.
You can look at this extension to set which page to open in a new tab:

OS X Lion and Windows 7 users can still sync Bookmarks and the Reading List with iOS devices via iCloud when using Safari 5.1. The iCloud Control Panel 2.1 for Windows also supports syncing Bookmarks with Internet Explorer 9, but not the Reading List as IE simply doesn’t have an equivalent feature.
While not as seamless as the iCloud Tabs feature, Bookmarks and Reading List can still be an effective way to share pages between your Windows 7 PC and your iOS devices; if you’re using Safari on Windows, the Reading List is best for storing and sharing one-time content while Bookmarks obviously are better suited for keeping track of pages that you may want to refer back to more than once.

It might be worth a shot to reset your router first. Unplug it from power for about 30 seconds and then plug it in again. Or try any other WiFi network and see what happens.

TS3276 can't download mail from windows live account. I have deleted and re-set up the account but still won't work. I can go online and access with no problem or get mail from other apple devices.

Firefox can find plugins in several locations, but Firefox 21 changed the location of the "shared" plugin folder so older installers like the Microsoft Windows Media Plugin no longer drop the DLL file in the correct location.
There apparently are two ways to address this:
(1) Change a Firefox preference so that Firefox checks the old location. Here's how:
(i) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(ii) In the filter box, type or paste '''plugins''' and pause while the list is filtered
(iii) Double-click '''plugins.load_appdir_plugins''' to switch its value from false to true.
This will take effect after you restart Firefox.
(2) Copy the plugins folder to the new location. Here's how on Win 7 64-bit:
Open a Windows Explorer window to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
Right-click and copy the '''Plugins''' folder
Double-click the '''browser''' folder to open it
Right-click and paste
Right-click the new copy of '''Plugins''' and rename it to '''plugins'''
After restarting Firefox, the plugins in that folder should now be available.

Why won't Safari get mail from my cable provider

After I downloaded the last security update Dec. 1, I have not been able to get mail in Safari, although it sends mail fine. When I click on "Get Mail", a message comes up saying "POP server rejected my password". So, as requested, I typed it in again, but still got that same message. I checked Preferences, and everything seemed in order there, although I did type in the info again, hoping that would work. Any ideas?
If the Security Update caused this problem, I am going to be very reluctant to downlaod any more.

I'm disappointed that no one responded to my guestion about not getting Safari mail on Dec. 6. As it turns out, by taking Mail out of automatic mode and just downloading the mail from my server manually, it will transfer my mail from Charter (and Charter is a bit archaic). So, at least now I get mail in my Safari Mailbox. It's a relief, because I have really liked using Safari for all my internet activities. After reading about all the problems people seem to have with Safari . . I guess I'm lucky . . . so far. it is good to see that so many people are interested in helping others with computer problems. dgm
