I have to open Task Manager to close it out, & force it to close. It happens on EVERY site, but it seems to really overload on FaceBook...ALOT! & many tikes even after closing it out properly, I will try & relaunch it later on, & nothing happens, or my system will be running slow, & I open Task manager & it shows Safari running despite my having closed it out several minutes to an hour or more earlier. & when I close to out there & then relaunch Safari then it loads fine! thsi happens to me at least a 100 X's or mre a day! I am using the most updated version of it, & this just started happening in the last few months. I've no clue what the prob is, but it is frustrating beyond words! & I absolutely HATE all other webbrowsers, I.E. has sucked since v.7, & FireFox has always sucked & so does Opera & Chrome! I used to LOVE Safari, but this issiue is driving me over a cliff! PLEASE help!! Make some updates for it or something, afterall, the thing has not been updated in a year! & the main part of Safari which constantly freezes up & crashes is the pointless "WebKit2WebProcess.exe" It should be fixed, or changed back to how Safari USED to be before it had this, which just causes tons of porobs w/the browser!
    Again, PLEASE help me! Thanks.
Safari for WIndows 5.1.7 (7534.57.2) Windows XP Pro, Read box above.)

    Hello
This is strange and I think it looks like a hardware issue because you have used the Toshiba recovery disk and after this the same problem occurs.
But its not easy to say what causes this problem. You can check the HDD and RAM by using Drive Fitness Test and Memtest86. Use Google to find both programs. You can download a bootable image of both programs. You must burn it on a CD and boot from it.
If the tests cant find an error your notebook should be checked by a notebook technician.
Maybe you can find the problem by yourself and to exchange the RAM or HDD this is pretty easy.

    Hi gregny1,
Many versions ago Bit defender crashed, but since the update is happens rarely. A clean reinstall may help with the hangs, but please also see [[Firefox hangs or is not responding - How to fix]] if it hangs after certain steps.

  • How does one stop Safari for Windows from auto resetting itself?

Safari for Windows running on XP Pro SP2 on a Dell Latitude D520
gets its settings reset automatically somehow. Also, the saved
userids/passwords randomly get "lost". These behaviors occur whether the
system is left running (with Safari terminated) then Safari is
started or when the the system is put in sleep mode (with Safari
terminated) and Safari is started after waking the system or when
the system is put into hibernate state (with Safari terminated) and then
Safari is started when the system is woken from hibernation. The
resetting and lost UIDs/PWDs is a random occurrence; it may, or may
not, occur after any one of the three use cases described above.
This behavior is becoming very annoying and will cause me to dump
Safari for Windows as my patience wears thin.
Any known solutions or suggestions will be greatly, and gratefully, appreciated.

  • New windows keep popping up in Safari

I have turned off Extensions and Blocked Pop Ups but windows keep popping up in the back with ads for the past week?
What else can I do to stop these?

Pesky pop-unders! Since I am on a vintage Pismo, there will be many here that may have better advice for your system and Safari version.
I use Firefox with and add-on that doesn't exist for Safari - but there are reports of others for Safari that I cannot recommend, only point you to.
AdBlockPlus may not be supported in your Safari version, so I won't even link to it.
GlimmerBlocker seems popular and appears safe as it doesn't really alter Safari at all, but uses a proxy server
    http://glimmerblocker.org/
You will find lots of results by Google-ing " safari pop-under " - stay away from Softonic, etc. download sites though. Good practice to download from the developer's website only.
You'll find something I'm sure. If not, give Firefox a try.

  • IPad ...first model .....safari and Crome keep crashing.....have done a factory reset....but problem continues"..help

    Safari and Chrome keep crashing....have done a factory reset......still happening....Why.....happens a lot with Video.....can someone help...thanks

I would check to mKe sure you have enough free space on your iPad. If you are close to the limit on storage there may not be enough room for the iPad to operate efficiently.
Also reset your iPad. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart.

  • Safari Bug? Help window keeps popping up...

Did a search for this and didn't find anything about this. For some reason whenever i go to click in the Google search in the upper right hand of the window (toolbar) the "Safari Help" window pops up. Usually this is done by pressing f1 but i am nowhere near that button and the batteries for my keyboard/mouse are not low. Whenever i click the X to close safari help it reloads into the same spot. I tried ways around it and even by tabbing to the google search from my address bar will open up that same window. I have no modifications to safari, just the standard install with regular updates. Version 3.1.2 (525.21)

No one else is experiencing this issue. Something is different on your PC.

  • I book G4 Keeps resetting itself. HELP!

    HI!
My IBook G4 keeps resetting it self. I have not changed a folder name or anything. When i turn the computer off and turn it back on, it is all back to the "default" settings. I have to start each application new. Like mail. in the last hour I started "mail" 4 times and had to put all my information back in. I-tunes has to restart, but my music is still there, after it gets imported.\
Now my keychain is going crazy, too. My Safari lost my bookmarks, everything.
I can't afford to loos everything, so please help me. I looked up in the help topics, but all my folders seem to be Ok.
    Thanks.

...if the hard drive was erased the install discs are the only way to resolve this that I am aware of.
As an alternative, you can buy a copy of the operating system and the iLife product, which is most of what was on the original install disks that didn't come with your system. One source for unopened Apple software is hardcoremac.com.
However, it sounds like you can log onto the system, yes?  On the menu bar, towards the apple on the left, it says File.  If you click on that can you also click on "new finder window"? If yes, what does it show you?

  • Mac safari won't keep my logged in

My mac's safari will not keep me logged into sites that I clicked "keep me logged in" with. It used to but once I downloaded the newest software for my Mac it doesn't anymore. i'm running windows xp but i think i found the equivelant file in C:\Documents and Settings\...\Application Data\Apple Computer\Preferences
i deleted this and it appears to have reset safari but once i close the broswer, it still won't keep me logged into twitter. thanks for your help, i hope you have more ideas lol

  • My safari does not keep my history despite all the settings and adjustment i made to the safari preferences so as to be able to keep my browsing history. the browsing history is wiped out whenever i close safari.

i use macbook pro mid 2012, OS X mavericks. my safari does not keep my history desp[ite all the adjustments made to the settings at safari preferences. my browsing history are cleared whenever i exit safari. i dont know why. i want to try and re - in stall it . the safari is version 7.0.1. but i dont know how.

If you're having trouble making changes to files that are inside your home folder (represented by a house icon in the sidebar of a Finder window), or if you can't get changes to the settings of an application to stick, then please see below.
    Back up all data.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, they may not work as described.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click anywhere in the following line on this page to select it:
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR..; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_; chmod -R -N ~ $_; } 2>&-
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting.
You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command may take a few minutes to run, or perhaps longer if you have literally millions of files in your home folder. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password dialog will open. You’re not going to reset a password.
In the dialog, select the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if it's not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if it's not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • Very poor implementation of XMLHttpRequest streaming with Safari for Window

I hope this post reaches Apple engineers. This is critical for us to resolve this. I am a member of the developer network, so if using incident support is necessary, it can be used. Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. I have implemented a test to compare XMLHttpRequest streaming performance for different browsers. Safari for Windows 5.0.3 had the worst results compared to Chrome and Firefox. Furthermore, I think this problem was introduced after Safari 3. The test consists of a server pushing messages of about 350 bytes to the browser at a rate of about 300/s. Once server pushes 10,000 messages, it closes the connection and browser opens new one repeating the cycle. There were several problems associated with Safari: 1) Safari could not process much more then 300 messages/s, that is quite low. Chrome had no problem processing 1,000. If, for example, 500 m/s was used, Safari would quickly allocate hundreds of meg of memory and crash. 2) Safari starts with about 64MEG of memory allocated. Once the test page is opened, memory quickly climes to 150MEG and as test progresses to >400MEG. Once the connection closes, it drops to 150MEG again. Chrome's memory did not fluctuate at all staying at 32MEG for the same test. 3) CPU was steadily claiming as test progressed and then dropped as connection was reset, creating CPU spikes. It reached about 50% CPU before connection was closed. Chrome's CPU stayed at about 2% all the time. This is the code: Server. Should be run with the latest Java Tomcat 7. Configure Tomcat to use Http11NioProtocol: package test; import java.io.IOException; import java.io.PrintWriter; import java.text.SimpleDateFormat; import java.util.Date; import javax.servlet.ServletException; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServlet; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest; import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse; import org.apache.catalina.comet.CometEvent; import org.apache.catalina.comet.CometProcessor; @SuppressWarnings("serial") public class WebFrameworkServletXHRReconnects extends HttpServlet implements CometProcessor { @Override public void event(CometEvent event) throws IOException, ServletException { HttpServletRequest request = event.getHttpServletRequest(); HttpServletResponse response = event.getHttpServletResponse(); if (event.getEventType() == CometEvent.EventType.BEGIN) { System.out.println("Begin for session: " + request.getSession(true).getId() + " " + response.getWriter()); response.setHeader("pragma", "no-cache,no-store"); response.setHeader("cache-control", "no-cache,no-store,max-age=0,max-stale=0"); event.setTimeout(Integer.MAX_VALUE); PrintWriter out = response.getWriter(); SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat("mm:ss: "); for (int i = 0; i < 10000; i++) { out.print("{\"messageType\":8448,\"requestId\":"0",\"eventType\":1,\"symbolId\" :[\"BAC.EA\",0],\"fields\":[{\"header\":"0",\"type\":6,\"data\":[3993,2]},{\"hea der\":"55",\"type\":6,\"data\":[1185,2]},{\"header\":54,\"type\":6,\"data\":[321 8,2]},{\"header\":"5",\"type\":6,\"data\":[6617,2]},{\"header\":52,\"type\":4,\" data\":[15]},{\"header\":"12",\"type\":6,\"data\":[1700,2]}]}"); out.flush(); if (i % 10 == 0) { try { //Thread.sleep(60); Thread.sleep(30); } catch (InterruptedException e) { } } if (i % 100 == 0) { System.out.println(formatter.format(new Date()) + i); } } out.close(); event.close(); } else if (event.getEventType() == CometEvent.EventType.ERROR) { event.close(); } else if (event.getEventType() == CometEvent.EventType.END) { event.close(); } } } client: <script type="text/javascript" src="log4js.js">

A PC can have more issues connecting than a Mac.
But it really should not matter.. so just try it in situ.. press and hold the reset.. once it starts up, it will return to default IP, 10.0.1.1 the PC should then be able to find it via the airport utility.
If not drag it over to the Mac and plug in there by ethernet.. or since it is a laptop, really should not be that difficult to drag the Laptop and plug it into the TC.
Important thing is to get access to the TC.
The Mac if it is running lion, then you MUST download and install 5.6 airport utility to do anything useful.
