Safari opening every page as https

For some reason, every page I open in safari opens as an https page. This is causing several pages to partially load, or be very very slow to load. Is this supposed to be happening with EVERY page? If not, how do I correct this issue?

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the errant extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

Click the green button in the top left corner of the window to resize it. If you can't reach the button, drag the window to the right by its title bar. You can further resize by dragging any of the edges or corners. Once you've resized the window, Safari should remember the size.

  • Why cant Safari open a page all of a sudden?

When I type in the url
    http://192.168.2.19/
I get a message saying Safari cant open the page. Its never happened before. Any thoughts or suggestions?
(I can go to any other web address, except for the particular one)
    Thanks

That's an address on a private network. If you're not on that network, you can't open it. If you are on the network, the device serving the page is offline or blocked.

  • Problems with Safari opening certain pages

Hi I am a Macbook Pro user I have Mac OSx 10.4.11 Tiger and have had it for 3 1/2 years. Whenever I go on Safari (version 4.1.3) and try to open a web page, specifically http://www.princetonreview.com, safari completely shuts down and prevents me from accessing this website. I've tried restarting my computer and restarting my internet, but that did not work. If this has happened to anyone please let me know what to do.

Hi KierGrl, and a warm welcome to the forums!
    two things to try...
    Get Firefox...
    http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    And/or...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

  • Safari Opens Blank Pages

Lately Safari has been opening blank pages behind my current page whenever I click links on the current page. The link opens in the current page or new tab, but the full screen blank page is still open. This is driving me crazy. Any thoughts?
Extensions include the latest versions of:
    1Password
    Evernote Web Clipper
    DoNotTrackMe
    DuckDuckGo
    AdBlock
    --Mitch

I have Glims installed as well. I've been prompted to update it, but have not.
I was suggested to uninstall Glims. Here is the link I was given:

  • Safari opens a page in blank

I´ve got some problem in my web using Safari. Two pages of it open in blank :
    http://www.sansanrepublic.net/vidalarchive1.htm and http://www.sansanrepublic.net/vidalarchive1.1.htm
They open correctly using Firefox, Camino or Seamonkey...

I have a similar problem with Safari and Gmail. After attempting to login, I see "Loading" and there activity on the address bar. When the page appears to have loaded, there is nothing but a blank.
I've tried resetting Safari, etc. All to no avail.
I have this problem on the 2.5 G5, but don't have problems on my MBP. Both are running similar and most current versions of software (sans the difference between the G5 and Intel processors.)
I didn't always have this problem, and don't have issues when running Firefox. I also haven't noticed this type of issue on any other page except Gmail.
Any help troubleshooting would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Jim

  • Why does Safari open every time I open AppleScript

Every time I simply open (not run) a certain AppleScript, Safari opens(it is not told to do so unless the program runs, which it isnt)
ps - I am somewhat experienced with AppleScript, so I know that Im not doing anything to make it run the script
    thanks you

I see it has stopped, but if the Safari Dictionary was open when you quit Applescript Editor, it will open the Dictionary when it opens, thus opening Safari.
But, if you didn't have the Safari Dictionary open, I don't know what was going on.

  • Safari bookmarks every page I visit. Why does it do this? How can I stop it?

Safari bookmarks every web site I visit. Why? How can I stop it doing this?

The first thing I would try is to go to Safari preferences and click on the Bookmarks icon. If any items are checked then un-check them and see what happens.

  • Safari opens new page in previous tab

    Hello!
I am a new macbook user (i got one just 2 months ago :)), but I was using safari for about 2 years now.
It all started with opening the links in new tab. I didn't know, that one could use command button to open a new tab, so i always went through "right click -> open in new tab"
then one day i didn't get that option anymore (just "open in new window") so i started to use command button to open a link in a new tab
but now the problem is the following: let's suppose i have 3 tabs open, and i want to open a new clean tab (tab 4) (its gonna be a direct transfer to the "top site" page). no prob here, i open it, but whenever i want to open in this new clean tab (tab 4) a new page (eg, google) it will automatically open in the previous tab (tab 3), tab 4 stays clean!!
how can i manage this problem?
i already tried to reinstall the latest version of safari, but it didnt help.
the problem is, its not always that i have this error, but it really drives me crazy when i do have it.
I am open to your every suggestion, thank you very much for your help!

    Hi and welcome....
First, go to your Safari menu bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. Restart Safari. If that didn't make a difference, reset Safari from the menu bar, select the top 7 buttons, click Reset.
If that didn't help either, try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file. Quit Safari (Command + Q)
Open a Finder window. Select your Home Folder in the Sidebar on the left. It has a small house icon. Then open the Library folder then the Preferences folder.
Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop. Now launch Safari. If Tabs work, move that .plist file to the Trash. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder.

  • Firefox opens every page five times

Whenever I click on a link to open a new page, Firefox opens it five times (in the same tab). So when I want to go back using the back and forward arrows, I have to click them five times to get back to my previous page. This is a new problem, since about 2 days...
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I guess since the last Firefox update

Do you have any extensions installed? Try [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]].
    Also, please update Flash: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
The version you have is outdated and has security and stability problems.

  • Safari Opens Every Time I Restart

I re-installed OSX 10.8.5 on my iMac and now every time I start up my computer, Safari automatically opens.  It and no other apps were open when I restarted or shut down.  Why would this be happening?
I looked under System Preferences - Users - Login Items and Safari was not there.  Anywhere else I could check?

Paul_31 - When I right clicking on Safari in my dock, here's what I see.  The Open at Login option is unchechecked.

  • Safari opens old pages

My Safari 6.0.2 is confused.  Despite assigning a Homepage in Preferences, and clearing History, it opens to random previous sites. It also opens random previous sites when I tab berween applications, losing the site that I was in when I tabbed to another application.  I've reset Safari numerous times.  I'd appreciate any help with this issue.

Press shift key down and launch Safari.
The steps you have taken should accomplish the same.
    But try.
    Best.
