Safari page/download does nothing -- Run script "//"

Hello Apple Community!
I got my brand new MacBook Pro about 3 days ago and I'm already having a problem.
Safari will not load a page when I see the following in the status bar:
Run script "//"
A similar question was asked in the following thread with *_no resolution_*:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2744265&tstart=0&messageID=133 25391
Can you offer any help, other than try Firefox, Camino, Opera?
Thanks!!

Hello Apple Community,
I am still having this problem, even after upgrading to the most recent version (5.0.5) of Safari.

Is there something wrong with my brand new computer?

• Why does Firefox on my Windows 7 PC hang (become unresponsive) while it waits for most pages to load or run scripts?

Firefox hangs (becomes unresponsive) when accessing many sites including Gmail. Eventually, when hung, Firefox will throw up a window saying "WARNING: A script has become unresponsive" or, in the case of Gmail, the page itself will say "Some Gmail features have failed to load due to an internet connectivity problem."
IE8 and Google Chrome are working normally. I've tried Firefox in safe mode, re-installing and even running Firefox portable from a USB thumb drive. Each time with the same result—Firefox hangs or becomes unresponsive while it waits for most pages to load or run scripts.

Your problem sounds like the one that a co-worker and I started to have about the same time. Check your Symantec client management control log. You might see a line like the following.
Date and Time Severity Level Action Test / Production Description API Class Rule Caller Process ID Caller Process Parameter User
2012-07-30 10:48:09 AM 15 Block Production Unauthorized NT call rejected by protection driver. System Built-in rule 1608 FlashplayerPlu FuncID-B6H, R... None
At first we thought that it was a Javascript problem until we noticed this log. The key words are 'Block' and 'FlashPlayerPlu'. This problem recently started for us, perhaps with a software push 1-2 weeks ago. Internet Explorer does not hang when accessing pages with Flash.
The Flash page does eventually load after a long time. However, since the whole browser hangs for a while, for the most part having the Flash plugin enabled makes Firefox unusable if accessing pages with Flash.
Disabling the Flash plugin solves the hanging problem, but I do not know what is causing the problem, nor do I know when a combination of Windows 7, Flash, and Symantec will work. Your later version of Symantec shows that we might have the problem for a while, but I do not know what customization CSC did with Symantec. My coworker did run a complete virus scan, uncovering nothing. Another co-worker is running Windows XP. She does not have the problem, but I do not know what other versions of software she is running.

• 4GB Camera Memory Card won't download-Does nothing

My camera memory card does nothing when I insert it into my computer.  It always worked before.  I don't understand why it won't now. How can I fix this issue? I insert the memory card and nothing happens.  Is there a driver I can download?
Please advise.

So the phone won't work with two different memory cards?
This points to it being a problem with the phone, not the cards.
You should contact the retailer or network about the fault or take your phone to a nokia care point.
Care points/service centres and repair info:
UK • Europe • Asia-Pacific • USA •
Canada • Middle East and Africa
Elsewhere: Click here, select your country, go to the support section, then select repair.
To use a memory card in a PC to recover your files you need to use a card reader. They are quite cheap and can be found at most computer stores.

• How do I make .pdf safari pages, download automatically?

I don't know when it began, whether it is the internet, or Safari 3, but now many websites take you to pages that are pdf pages. This is great if you want to view the file/item which is in pdf format, but don't want to download it to you computer and create clutter on your hard drive. However, I have found that for some reason it takes eons for my computer to load pages that are pdf pages. And sometimes, the spinning beach ball does not stop spinning and I have to quit Safari.
Questions:
- Why is it so slow to load?
- Is there a way I can get web pages that are pdf pages to load more quickly?
- Alternatively, is it possible, when I click on a link that will be a pdf page, to override it loading in the Safari browser and instead have it download to my desktop? This is how these pages/pdfs used to work for me in the past and it's a system that works well for me.
Thanks.

Open the Terminal in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder and run:
defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitOmitPDFSupport -bool YES
Quit and restart Safari.

• Call to predefined Report Query for PDF download does nothing

I am trying to download a PDF report which is based upon 2 queries. Each query has a where clause with values taken from page items. I have installed OBI Publisher 11.1.1.5 and used the OBI Publisher 11.1.1.5 Word plug-in to create the RTF file that I then uploaded to the Shared Components->Report Layout.
I created a new region button to call the Report Query. However, whenever I click on the button to download the PDF, nothing happens. I have looked at the debug and the button appears to be executing OK, except that nothing happens.
The APEX to OBIP configuration is working since I am able to have OBIP generate other report PDFs that aren't using the predefined query. Stated a bit differently, reports regions that have the Print Attributes set to "Enable Report Printing=Yes" and "Report Layout=Default Report Layout" work fine. Reports based upon the predefined query and launched using a region button do not do anything.
Environment: APEX 4.1, DB 11.2.0.2, OBIP 11.1.1.5
Any help with this PDF issue is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Reid

Thank you again for your reply, Udo.
Here are my responses:
* As a matter of fact, I am doing a copy / paste from the predefined query to the report region source.
** What exactly do you mean by that? Don't you print the actual region?
I need to produce a PDF that is the compilation of 4-5 queries. Therefore, I cannot print a region to PDF since APEX (as far as I know) does not allow for the printing of multiple regions (1 query per region) to a single PDF file. So, I am creating a PDF that is based upon multiple queries which I predefine in the shared components -> report queries. Then, I'm creating a region button that calls a downloadable report when it is clicked.
Your question has made me realize that indeed it doesn't matter what query I have in the report region since I am calling a predefined report. When nothing was happening when I attempted to generate the PDF, I guess I started to think that the problem was with the queries on the page and so I made them match exactly with what the queries are in the shared components->report queries.
Please advise if something is wrong with my understanding here.
I checked the OBI Publisher logs (at least what I could locate) and I didn't see anything show up there.
/u02/app/ohs/obip_mw/user_projects/domains/bifoundation_domain/servers/AdminServer/logs
I checked the OHS access_log and I didn't see anything that looks like an error. I also don't see anything in the APEX page debug. It appears to process normally when the button is clicked.

• Download does nothing in Chrome / Vista?

I've downloaded Adobe Application Manager, and running it doesn't seem to do anything. Likewise clicking "download" on Illustrator blinks the browser window, but doesn't open any program, download anything, or launch AdobeApplicationManager. Any suggestions?
My subscription is paid and I can log into Creative Cloud no problem.
Error message on launching Adobe Application Manager: "Other instances of Adobe Application Manager arae currently running". But while the Windows Vista tast manager does list two AAMs, closing this window, both AAMs close so there's nothing further to close.

Do you receive any other specific error messages?  Are you able to download and install one of the trials successfully?  If so can you license the software using the, "License this Software," feature?  When prompted you will want to enter your Adobe ID tied to your Creative Cloud subscription.

• Clicking on M/S' RUN and/or SAVE does nothing - just sits there

Have had this problem for a few days. In trying to open again, it always tells me Firefox is still running and to close it first. There is no Firefox running! Have uninstalled FF and in trying to install a new one, I get as far as the Run/Save; clicking on either one does nothing, it just sits there. Thanks for your help. PS - I've been using FF for ages - first time I've had this problem. PPS = tried to cut/paste browser url but went to open a file.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from mozilla.org (or choose the download for your operating system and language from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
#*Windows:
#**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
#**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Installing Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.
<b>WARNING:</b> Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u> See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. <!-- Starting in Firefox 31, the Firefox uninstaller no longer lets you remove user profile data.Ref: Bug 432017 and https://support.mozilla.org/kb/uninstall-firefox-from-your-computer/discuss/5279 [Fx31] Windows uninstaller will no longer offer the option to remove personal data -->
Please report back to say if this helped you!

• Clicking on links in Safari does nothing

Running OS 10.8.5 on desk top iMac.  Lately, today, have found that clicking ona link in Safari does nothing.  Simply stays on the same page I was viewing.

From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Extensions
Turn all extensions OFF and test. If the problem is resolved, turn extensions back ON and then disable them one or a few at a time until you find the culprit.
If you wish, you may be able to salvage the errant extension by uninstalling and reinstalling it. Its settings will revert to their defaults. If the extension still causes a problem, remove it permanently or refer to its developer for support.

Hi Suzy Q,
I can send and receive calls.
I get "messaging stopped" when doing a lot of texts.
Texts come up "ghosted" meaning they have the text on the bottom and a transparent one overlaid  on top. they then become one. But I get the ghosting most of the time when I go into a message from a contact to send a text.
When I go to call logs or text logs, the numbers come up first, and then then the names pop up randomly, meaning not in order down the page, until they are all shown. lots of lag time.

• Safari 3 cannot run scripts in new window

The problem that I am encountering is that Safari cannot seem to run scripts in a new window. Whenever I click on a link, nothing happens. This occurs on sites like http://www.nbcolympics.com/video/share.html?videoid=0824hd_ccben209 (when I am trying to view the videos) and http://music.aol.com/radioguide/ (Trying to play the stations).
I'm not sure if it's a JavaScript issue or something. I have enabled Java, JavaScript and plug-ins in the preferences pane. I also tried disabling the pop-up blocker but that didn't seem to work. It usually works fine in Firefox (though the nbcolympics site insisted that I didn't meet the browser requirements, when I clearly did.) Sorry I can't provide you guys with much info, I don't know much about web stuff.
I am using Safari 3.1.2 on a 2GHz Macbook. Thanks loads

Yup the options are checked.

• Hi, We have an application  built using HTMl 5 and Javascript running on IPad2, iOS5.1 Safari 5.1. When we try to download a file(.pvw file) in that application safari throws "Download failed" error. Please suggest what needs to be done.

Hi,
We have an application  built using HTMl 5 and Javascript running on IPad2, iOS5.1 Safari 5.1.
When a file url is clicked instead of asking for Save or Open or Cancel options, the file gets opened on IPad by default.
Is this default behaviour which cannot be changed or can it be configured to ask user preference?
When we try to download a file(.pvw file -> a model file) in the above application, safari throws "Download failed" error.
Please suggest what needs to be done.
Regards,
Pramod

Safari on an iPad in general does not allow downloading of files. That's a safety precaution in the iOS SDK to keep unauthorized content off of iOS devices. Safari will open from the web site file types that it can handle, but direct downloading isn't normal behavior, and I don't believe the behavior can be changed, though you can try asking in the developer forum, either here or the one to which you have access as a member of Apple's iOS developer program.
Regards.
