Safari pages load don't display in mountain lion

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion on my 2011 Mac Mini Safari loads the pages however there is nothing visable on the display except for white screen. I have to browse now using Google Chrome. I disabled all extensions and restarted many times with the same results.

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

  • Safari page load problems and 10.5.3

Since I have upgraded to 10.5.3, I am experiencing Safari page load problems on all my user accounts on my 2.0 GHz Core Duo Black MacBook. I have reviewed threads in this forum and that of the Safari forum with no solution that solves the problem. so I post here in hopes of additional expert solution ideas.
*The Problem:* Since upgrading to 10.5.3 Safari fails to complete page downloads for some, but not all websites. When these same websites are accessed with Firefox there is no problem. With Safari the page load will stop at about 75% completion, or the page will not load at all.
Here is an example of a webpage that will not complete: http://www.realclearpolitics.com/
Here is an example of a webpage that will not load at all: http://cherylsguitar.com/site (my wife's business)
I also have a G4 iMac running 10.4.11 on the same WiFi network that does NOT experience the Safari page load problems. All is good and speedy on this trusty machine.
    *Solutions Attempted:*
    - Deleted plist (with no effect)
    - Re-installed Safari from Leopard disk (with no effect)
    - Scoured User Preferences in Library for offending applications, plug-ins, etc.
    - Reset PRAM
    - Reset and examined cable modem and router (AirPort Extreme 802.11g)
    *Hardware and Network info:*
    - 2.0 GHz Core Duo Black MacBook
    - 2 GB Ram
    - AirPort Extreme Base Station (generation 1) running 802.11g

Have you cleared out your cookies?
    Allan
    Allan,
Yes. I have reset Safari clearing all but website icons with no effect. I also tried turning of the Safari pop-up blocker with some very limited success. Disabling pop-up blocker will marginally help page load speed for some websites, but others still fail to load at all.
Thanks for taking time to post.

This is not necessarily 100% correct at the current time.
As Dropbox is encouraging people to set it up for automatic uploading of photos they gradually increment your space as you load more pictures for free at the current time.
You do start with a fixed 2 GB but if you upload photos you will be awarded more free space.
You can also open a free account with Flickr - you may have some upload limits per day but you can upload pictures there.

  • Why has my Safari and MAIL slowed after upgrading to Mountain Lion on my MacBookPro ?

Why has my Safari and MAIL slowed after upgrading to Mountain Lion ? I have mid-2009 MBPro and have very fast Internet access router.

I have noticed the same thing on my MAC.  Mail has become very "clunky"- Before Mountain Lion, whenever I clicked on a msg or a function (delete), it would respond immediately.  With Mountain Lion there is an unacceptable hesitation.  What is going on with this latest update?

    Hi,
the NFSv4 domain name is not necessarily related to the host name or the host's fully-qualified domain name (FQDN). It can be the same like the domain name, but it does not have to.
To find the corrent NFSv4 domain name, you have to look it up in the NFSv4 server's configuration files.
    Kind regards,
    Steffen

Might have a hardware issue that was caused by the minor liquid spill.
Take it to Apple to have them look at it.  I think they do a free diagnostics.  That way you can find out what's wrong with your MB.
Good luck....Hope you get it sorted out.

  • Safari 6.0.1 loads, fails to operate in Mountain Lion 10.8.2

Yesterday, without any changes incurred on my part, Safari 6.0.1 loaded normally and set a menu bar that looks normal, but it failed to open any pages. In fact it will not respond to any menu choices or keyboard commands. In thinking about this overnight I began to wonder if perhaps this is simply the result of a prefs file that has become corrupt and should be manually deleted, thus forcing Safari to generate a new one as it loads up. But I thought I would first toss this question out there to see if anyone else is having similar problems. Perhaps there is already a solution other than what I  suggest here. This is the second problem I have encountered after updating to OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2; the first was that my 30" Cinema HD Display refused to work as an extension of the iMac desktop. I have ascertained to Apple's satisfaction that the monitor is fully functional, and Apple engineers are evaluating that particular problem as I keyboard this note. For the record with respect to the Safari problem, I am currently using Firefox to access this website, and it works just fine.
I sure would like to see a comment or two on the Safari topic.
    Ron Couch

Same problem here. Java works in Firefox, but not in Safari.
In Norway, there is a common/shared authorization & payment system (called BankID) that uses Java. In logging into banks and in all payments (also international Web-shop paymets). And Safari can not handle it.
BankID has a Java-test function. In Firefox, it detects Java and outpts:
    Browser
    Op. Sys.
    Java version
    Java vendor
    Firefox 19
    Mac OS X 10.8.3
    1.7.0_17
    Oracle Corporation
    In Safari, it outputs:
    Browser
    Op. Sys.
    Java version
    Java vendor
    Safari 6
    Mac
    Download Java here
    More information about Java
This is pretty embarrasing for Mac users in Norway. We can not log into any bank, buy a movie ticket, check-out from any web-shop, ...
Anybody reading these from Apple? When can we expect a fix? Did anyone of you see a fix anyplace?

  • Safari Page Loaded

I've read others here and have tried the
"do JavaScript "document.readyState" in document 1" loop.
The problem is I get a complete return before the page is done. I seem to get it when the connection is made not when the page is completely loaded,
I'm not up on Java or html but I think it uses a "Active Server Page". It has .aspx? followed by a long line of key numbers.
Is there a way or different term other than "complete' for the line of java that will make it wait until the page is done. Delay in the script just won't work as the page may take a couple to many seconds to load.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Marshall

    I use this arrangement:
in the main script - to pause until the page is loaded:
    If my page_loaded(50) ...
    and then the subroutine:
    on pageloaded(timeoutvalue)
    delay 5
    tell application "Safari"
repeat with i from 1 to the timeout_value
If (do Javascript "document.readyState"in document 1) is "complete" then return true
    delay 1
    end repeat
    end tell
    return false
    end page_loaded
This works most of the time, but I have observed problems when my PowerBook is overloaded - or there's heavy network activity - when it seems that the document readystate tests true halfway thru the actual page load. This is for no apparent reason other than these loads and almost seems as though Safari might be 'giving up' and changing the readystate precipitately! You could try testing for "loaded" as well to see if that helps.

  • Same, unwanted old Safari page loading for months

iPad 3, 7.1.2. Private browsing. History and cookies/cache cleared after every session. Not using any other device that talks to this iPad. Connected via wifi.
Problem: On Safari launch, the same page either flash appears or stays on til something else is selected. Also the same page appears after opening a mail link URL. The page appears only some of the time and has been appearing for at least six months. Part of its URL is videos.android...
    Question: how to stop this?
    Thanks in advance...

Hi and Welcome to Apple Discussions
Some routers are better than others on a Mac. It's all about the firmware and the degree of compatibility built into it by the developer. Make sure you have the latest Netgear firmware installed on the router. Check the support page on Netgear's site.
Also, in the Netgear Router preference panel, add these DNS server codes, which may facilitate the page loading on the Mac - 208.67.220.220 and 208.67.222.222. There are OpenDNS codes, which have been shown to be much more efficient for Safari than those used by Internet Providers.

  • HT204135 OK loaded the apple SW for Mountain lion for my HP 2840 Color Laserjet...nothing happens when I send a simple two word page.  In preferences it shows this printer to be default...I have no other printers on the Mac. Any ideas?

Attempting to install a HP 2840 Color LaserJet printer on my Mac Pro using Mountain Lion 10.8.2. Go to print a simple word doc with two words...Printer does nothing and stil says READY. The printer is listed in prefernces as default.
How can I get the printer to respond?

    I have the same Issus.
Since the latest Printer Driver Update the Printing is very very very Slow. An PDF Dokument with only Text needs about 4 Minutes to print.

  • Safari 6.2 does NOT work in Mountain Lion; huge issues

Question is does anyone have any ideas about this.
Also my purpose is to WARN people NOT to upgrade to 6.2!!!
15" mid-2013 MBPr running 10.8.5.  Upgraded to Safari 6.2 today and regret it mightily (this is why I rarely upgrade until FORCED).  Immediately, could not open most of my Google docs or Gmail. Kept getting this dialog:
"This error has been reported to Google and we'll look into it as soon as possible. Please reload your page to continue."
But I couldn't reload--the error kept continuing. Endless loop of click Ok and it comes back.  Plus, got colored spinning beach ball hangs on MANY other sites (including ironically Apple site to go to support  forums).  and every 3 seconds "webpages have stopped
NONE OF THIS was going on with the same tabs opened in 6.1.x or whatever it was before that. It was slow, but otherwise worked.
I tried to use Time Machine to go back to my last Safari app and of course got the message that Safari is necessary system software and could not be replace.
After trying to get through to tech support twice and getting disconnected (???) I got someone who told me it would NOT be possible in any way to downgrade to previous version of Safari.
I was further informed that "we cannot test new versions of browsers to work with all apps and be sure their functionality is not broken." I said "I would think Google, though, might be kind of a priority as one you would test." it's not like it's an OSCURE APP.
I was also told to upgrade to Mavericks so i could just use safari 7.1.  I do NOT want to upgrade to Mavericks for very specific reasons (not the least of which, besides this situation which happens all too frequently, is that there are other things that are broken in Mavericks as i can see on my 13" retina Macbook, particularly with Apple Mail, which I find very annoying, and other functionalities and interface things that I find less friendly in Mavericks).  I have one Mavericks machine and I want one Mountain Lion machine. Period. This should be OK.
I asked for a supervisor when the guy suggested i simply use a different browser like Firefox or Chrome.  Are you KIDDING me? That's your answer?
I use Chrome and Safari each for specific work things and Firefox for all personal. THat is how I organize my stuff. I edit Google docs related to one client's work  in Safari. THat is where my permissions are to access those docs.
I said that any released version Safari should work with major, hugely popular business apps and I should not have to SWITCH AWAY FROM SAFARi. If you are suggesting i NOT USE SAFARI, then it shouldn't be released. Period.
The supervisor told me that I could downgrade only by downgrading my whole system. Only way. (I later realized after I hung up--unless you can tell me otherwise--that means restoring my whole hard drive, NOT just my system,? Like FULL Time Machine restore of everything. If I could do JUST he system, I'd do it.)
He also said that it was "possible I could get Safari 6.2 working with Google docs"  IF I "played around with settings and preferences in Safari."
Um. I said, prompting him, ahem…since I called in for support, perhaps you could work with me to give me some ideas of what those settings or changes might be, rather than have me "randomly play with" it?
He reluctantly did so, screen sharing with me, had me do all the things I;d already tried (restring Safari, restarting computer, etc), closing and opening those docs. He saw the error message through screen sharing. he could not explain it. We played around with opening the docs from Drive or email instead of from the bookmarked tabs.
Sometime into the call, it stopped doing it.  We never knew why.  So he thought we'd solved it (even though no explanation for why it had been, never identified a consistent source).  He said "well, so Safari 6,2 DOES work."  But after we hung up, it started doing it again.  Mainly with Google (error message) but also with other sites (beach ball hangs).  I will not bother calling back.  I guess I either cant use Safari  or need to restore my whole system to get old one back (again, I don't want to go to Mavericks on this machine).
    Anyone got ideas?
What i find more concerning than the thing not working (which isn't insignificant ) is the lack of care and lack of knowledge that is now consistently apparent when I call for help, compared to how consistently awesome it used to be.
    Sad.
I would appreciate any insights anyone has gleaned re this issue. And again I caution against 6.2.   My machine works great otherwise, Safari worked fien before the upgrade,  and NO, i DO NOT have any anti-virus software!

    Happy to.  It's below.
Not everyone hijacked this thread thread btw--Danabeck for example said having EXACT same problem I am. Furthermore, the Sharepoint "fix" that worked, then stopped working is pretty weird.
and whatever is going on, it wasnt in Safari 6.1 with very same system. But sure--if something unneeded is causing problem with 6.2, I'd be delighted to dump it.

  • How do I downgrade my MacBook Pro Retina Display from Mountain Lion to Lion?

I have a brand new MacBook Pro Retina Display that came with OS X 10.8.1.
I´m an audio engineer so I work with Pro Tools, tons of plug-ins etc... Some of my software doesn't work with Mountain Lion just yet. Some of them haven't upgraded, and some of them I need to purchase a latest version, which is not cheap at all in the audio world. So I'd like to hang on to Lion for a while until I decide to upgrade everything to Mountain Lion.
I've seen other posts about this -> https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4148927?start=0&tstart=0
This one in particular managed to make the downgrade. However, he used to have OS X 10.7.4 in his retina display when he bought it. Which is something that doesn't happen in my case.
If you read the other post you can see that several methods have been tried.
Is it really safe to completely erase my hard drive and to a clean install of Lion? Will it work perfectly fine on my Retina Display?
I went to one Apple Store, and the guy asked around and told me they haven't done it before, so since they didn't know whether it was going to work they couldn't do it. He told me to do it myself and if something happened to my laptop, "just bring it in and we'll reinstall the stock OS X again."
Since the laptop is brand new I don't mind erasing everything, all my stuff is already backed up.
    So help me please?

The short of it is if it came with 10.8.1 you can't install an OS less than that.

  • Forbidden 403 suddenly on pages uploaded with DW CS6 on Mountain Lion

    Hi
I am just getting reports from users that they are encountering Forbidden 403 messages.
I have checked and I am getting them myself.
All the pages concerned have been updated on the servers since upgrading to DW CS6 on Mountain Lion.
All the FTP remote settings are the same as they were with previous ancient system.
Does anyone know of an issue with permissions that I can look at to sort this please ?
    Thanks in hope
    Rod

    Thanks Preran
Unfortunately I don't really think this might be relevant because my Mac Pro came with Mountain Lion OSX 10.8.2 already installed.
Also I have been perfectly able to access web pages and there are only about 10 or 12 pages over 2 or 3 sites that have started behaiving like this.
At first I thought it was pages uploaded after starting to use CS6 on Mountain Lion, but looking more closely it is something more recent.
Pages affected seem to be those uploaded on or after March 30.
Pages uploaded before that seem to be working normally.
So I now think that this is more likely to be a hosting problem which I need to pursue through the ISP support.
    Thanks for your time.
