Safari PDF Veiwing Problems

Having problem in viewing pdf files using the Safari browser. I have adobe professional installed on my machine. I have read in this forum that Safari has a build in pdf reader and to delete the adobe plug-in in the library/internet plug-in folder. I did delete this file but it has no effect on safari and viewing pdf files. When I select a pdf file for viewing I get just a black screen and no viewing.
Everything works properly when using Firefox if that makes any difference.
As info is greatly appreciated.
Michael

The black screen shows while it downloads the PDF when using the Adobe PDF plugin, it might take a while depending on the PDF size. give it a while, or try to view a PDF that you know is small.
Safari uses the Adobe Plugin in 32 bit mode (if present in the plugin folder), its internal renderer in 64 bit mode.
I am not sure, but I think you can only change 32/64 bit mode in Snow Leopard, in the info window for the application.

  • Safari PDF. Preview Download Problem

I've had my Macbook Pro for about two years and have suddenly become unable to use the "Save PDF to Download Folder" option when Previewing documents in Safari. I've tried creating another account to test the problem, reseting safari and dragging the com.apple.Safari.plist preference to the desktop and reopening Safari but the problem persists. Any advice on what to try next would be amazing. Cheers.

    Hi and welcome....
    Quit Safari (Command + Q)
Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder from the Sidebar on the left then open the Library folder, then the Safari folder.
Move the Downloads.plist file from the Safari folder to the Trash.
    Reluaunch Safari.

  • Good day, I have installed Acrobat DC, and would like to combine 2 files. One is excel allready converted to PDF - No problem. The other one is from Pastel mailed as PDF.

    Good day,
I have installed Acrobat DC, and would like to combine 2 files. One is excel allready converted to PDF - No problem. The other one is from Pastel mailed as PDF.
When trying to merge the files, this file ask for a Password. No password was issued from the setup or mail?

    Good day abrieb93050306,
I can understand your concern, however can you please let me know that are you able to open both the PDF files ( the one you converted form excel to pdf & the other pdf that was mailed to you ) individually without using any password?
As it asks for the password, it means that the postal mailed PDF is password protected. You can ask for the password from the sender of the postal mail & then try to combine the files.
Please follow the steps in the provided KB doc.to combine the files : Combine files into single PDF | Adobe Acrobat DC tutorials
This will probably resolve your issue.
Let me know if you still experience any issue.

  • Why won't Adobe reader no longer let me view previously download (from Safari) pdf's? I am running OSX 10.8.5 and have uninstalled and reinstalled latest version of Reader?

Why won't Adobe reader no longer let me view previously download (from Safari) pdf's? I am running OSX 10.8.5 and have uninstalled and reinstalled latest version of Reader. I get this error message "Adobe Reader could not open 'OD Test Bed Proposals_0.pdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)."  I have tried changing the 'open with' options too. Thanks

    Try this:
    Go to: Mac HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins
Trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and AdobePDFViewerNPAPI.plugin files
    Empty the trash
Relaunch Safari. You can now download undamaged PDFs.

  • Firefox was working on my new iMac but then, after switching on recently, won't connect to the web – whereas Safari has no problem.

    ===
    Hi
I bought an iMac a week ago and installed Firefox via Safari. It worked fine for a while but, after a recently switching on, it won't connect to the web whereas Safari has no problems.
I've tried following the Firefox Help, looking into the iMac firewall, but still no luck.
I've no idea whether related or not but yesterday I had a system glitch where the iMac stated no wi-fi was installed and only connected via a physical lead to my house router. Also, there was no sound output via Safari. However, after booting up today all seems well – apart from Firefox still not working. It loads the start page but can't access the web.
I have Little Snitch running, and wonder if that's the culprit... but it's working fine with Safari, seemingly.
(Finally, how do I stop a dialogue box appearing on start-up saying that "To open “X” you need a Java runtime. Would you like to install one now?)
    Any ideas anyone?
    Cheers

On the wireless networks that your Mac has had trouble connecting to, do you know which Wireless Security type (WEP, WPA, or WPA2) is being used?
If it is WEP, one of the problems is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP.   In order to make things easier, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling the use of simple easy to remember WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys. The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a non-Apple client and vice versa.   You may find the following Apple Support article helpful.

  • 10.6.8 combo & 10.6.7 pdf fonts problem

Does the 10.6.8 update combo correct the pdf fonts problem that was inherent to 10.6.7?  After a couple days of stress I had to do the lengthy 10.6.7 uninstall process in order to refine my doctoral dissertation.  This has made me gun-shy & fearful of updates.  Is it safe to update now?

The combo should fix your problem.  As always have a back-up in case you have to revert.
The Font update came out to fix the problem in 10.6.7

  • Illustrator cs6 + msword to pdf + links problem

    Hello!
    BACKGROUND:
I have a TABLE that I need to inserted into my ILLUSTRATIOR file.
Whatever method I'm using is failing as the text comes in but NOT the table.
Instead, I just do this:   MSWORD > Print PDF > in Illustrator >  Place PDF.
    PROBLEM:
But when I want to make CHANGES TO THE PDF (changes in MS WORD DOC - REprint to PDF).  The PDF file does NOT show up in the LINKS Box.
Therefore, I can't UPDATE it.  I'm always having to re-insert the PDF file  -- INSTEAD of like the other files PSD, or .JPG, or whatever else gets UPDATED.
    QUESTION:
WHY DOES THE PDF FILE not like the OTHER files that just hang out and can be updated in the LINKS box?
    Thank you,
    M>

I'm using PC... but the LINK selection was NOT CHECKED.
Funny.  I never checked that when I placed all the other IMAGES -- like ever.
Thanks, Larry, that's exactly what needed to be done!!!!!
SOLUTION:  PLACE >  Check LINK box. Done.

    Hi Suresh,
I just tried this thing in my systtem and it is working... BADI is trigerred everytime there is a change in the PO... even when you release there is a change in the PO so this BADI will be triggerred....
I suggest you should implement BADI in your dev system and place a break point in the POST method...
After that create a PO and release it using ME29N... thereafter when you save the PO... this method will trigger and you will have access to PO details...
PS: Remember this BADI wont work for transaction ME29...

  • Pdf fonts problem in 10.6.7 - resolved in 10.6.8 combo update?

The pdf fonts problem in 10.6.7 forced me to go through the long uninstall process after a couple days stressing over what the problem was -- it was Adobe tech support that finally informed me what the problem was. Is the problem fixed in the 10.6.8 combo update?  Since I got no replies when I asked this question a different way yesterday, can anyone say (for helpful answer points) whether Apple would be inclined to answer this question if I just call them up (i.e., without existing AppleCare)?   Any other suggestions for getting official support on this question?   As it stands, I fear updating at all, and could be stuck with 10.6.6 for a long time.

  • Acrobat hijacked Safari PDF's

All PDF's are shown by the Acrobat Reader plug-in. There is a preference in Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 (Prefs/Internet/Dispay PDF is browser using). Unchecking this does NOT stick. Next time I open Acrobat or even enter Preferences, the checkbox is set again. Is there a way to stop Acrobat from taking over Safari PDF's?
    best regards
    Lars

    Lars,
    Quit Safari.
Find and remove the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and archive it into a different folder. It will be located in either: Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-Ins or ~Library/Internet Plug-Ins.
    Restart Safari.

safari pdf files does not open

In the Finder, select Go ▹ Go to Folder... from the menu bar. Copy the line of text below into the box that opens, and press return:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins/AdobePDFViewer.plugin
If a Finder window open with that item selected, delete it, then quit and relaunch Safari. Otherwise post again.

  • Adobe PDF writer has taken over my computer for documents, how do I change it back to Safari PDF ?

How do I change back to Safari PDF viewer and get rid of Adobe?

Find a PDF file in the Finder, select it and go File > Get Info. Find the Open With section and change the application from Adobe Reader (?) to whatever other PDF viewing app you prefer (Safari.app?). Click on the button that activates in that section (Change All...) and say Yes to making every PDF open with the new option your choose.
In my opinion, viewing PDFs posted on websites in Safari is fine, but viewing PDFs downloaded or that reside on your iMac are better suited to being viewed using Adobe Reader (though you might not be used to what it does), or Preview. You should explore what they have to offer.
    Hope this helps.
