Safari: Previous page with the mouse

Is it possible to program the mighty mouse to do a "Previous page" when used within Safari?

Yes, but you will need third-party mouse software for that. Try SteerMouse - VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

  • While browsing in 2 or more tabs, scrolling down the page with the mouse wheel causes Firefox to unexpectedly open the tab in a new window, closing the tab in the process and losing any data on it (such as a half written email etc.).

This problem is with Firefox 3.6.15 and also in the previous version. I've tried reinstalling but no joy.
This happens a lot. Several times a day. Very irritating. I keep losing work I've typed into a text box or email, or having to go back to the beginning of things (such as audio or video) because it has reloaded in a window.
I have McAfee security which checks the computer every week and removes virus and malware so I'm pretty confident there's no problem with that.
I'm sometimes so plagued by this problem that I have to switch to other browsers (I have Chrome, Safari and IE installed) and have not experienced any similar problem with those.
The problem does not seem to be in conjunction with any plugins. Although I have plugins installed the problem happens when none of the plugins is noticeably in use.

  • Ask your question.updated to IOS 6.1.  I cannot configure my iMessage properly with this version.  Everytime it verifies the email addresses associated with my apple Id the page reverts back to the previous one with the sign in portion.  What should I do?

Please assist with the iMessage configuration.  My iMessage used to work with the previous version.  With 6.1 I cannot configure iMessage properly.    After I sign in using my apple id.  It directs me to the next page with all the email add associated with the I. d. After confirming the email addresses it verifies then reverts back to the previous page with the sign in portion.  What should I do?

  • Why can I no longer scroll with the mouse when using Pages?

A few days ago, I realized that I am unable to scroll within a Pages document with the mouse.  The scroll bar is not there.  The scroll feature works fine, and after trying to figure this out myself with no success, I thought I'd ask here.  I have Pages '09 and I'm using OS X 10.9.5.

Thanks.  That's not the problem.  Scrolling works in everything else except Pages.  I used to be able to scroll just by using my finger up or down on the mouse.  Now, I can't do that.  I tried setting the scroll bars to "Always", but then I have to physically click on the scroll bar and move it up and down.  Not like it's that much hassle, lol, but I got used to just scrolling with my finger on the mouse.

  • Why will safari not load web pages with the prefix "fhp"?

Why will safari not load web pages with the prefix "fhp"?

Because it doesn't recognise them as valid addresses - just as the error message  says.
Firefox is similar : Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (fhp) isn't associated with any program.
Where are you seeing this problem ?.

  • How do I prevent tab focus from changing when I scroll tabs with the mouse wheel? [SOLVED]

Whenever I scroll my tabs with the mouse scroll wheel the tab focus changes from the page I'm currently on to the tab being scrolled to. I usually have a large list of tabs open and I depend on being able to scroll tabs without changing page focus to keep myself organized.
Also, I'd like to disable tab scroll wrapping; Once I've scrolled my tabs to the end I'd like it to stop scrolling, not wrap around to the start of my tabs.
Is there a way to disable these features and revert to the tab scrolling behaviour of a previous version of Firefox?

This is not a standard feature and can be caused by an extension.
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Read the "More Like This" thread links located at the bottom left of this page.

  • When links are clicked, they do not fully display the NEW page until the mouse is moved.I know it is a current bug, and appears in no other browsers that I know of.

It was pointed out that my links do not function correctly on Firefox on a Windows platform. When links are clicked, they do not fully display the NEW page until the mouse is moved! I have now observed it for myself on my fathers PC running Windows XP on Firefox. My PC is on Windows7
It is the 5 version of Firefox, so I know it is a current bug, and appears in no other browsers that I know of.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
In Firefox 4+ you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • Scroll down with the mouse while the crop tool window is open

I would like to know if there is a way to scroll down with the mouse while the crop tool window is open, like in Acrobat 5.0. If not with the mouse, is there another shortcut to go through the pages and adjust the size of the crop and see it on different pages? Thanks!

Yes, but I won't see what I'm cropping if I cannot scroll down while the window is open. Thank you for answering anyway!

  • How to fill an 8x10 page with the same image for making buttons?

How do you make a button template using the grid?  How do you import the image onto that, and how do you fill an entire page with the same image ie-  1" circles

I'm trying to do the same thing but I want 1" squares.  I just upgraded from Elements 6 and I did this
quite often for pendant necklaces.  I used to go and print individual prints, but the previous options are not there.  ;(
And the picture package is only showing 20 (2x2) as being the smallest size.  I don't see a custom button.
Can anyone tell me how to do this?  We're doing these for a fundraiser and I can't even print anymore.
    Thanks,
    Kimberly

  • Is there any way to pan with the mouse in Multisim?

For some reason, I can't seem to find a way to pan with the mouse in Multisim.  Is there a pan tool, or a keyboard shortcut that allows me to use the mouse to drag the document where I want it?

To add to Tayyab's suggestion, you can also enable the 'Center on mouse' option when zooming in and out using the scroll wheel.   I sometimes find this useful now since in Multisim v12 the upper left corner of the workspace is not locked as it was in v11 and previous.   With this option checked, when zooming in/out, the schematic workspace will automatically snap to center of the mouse location.
Also there is a scroll option (instead of zoom) but it is really only useful for scrolling up and down (it is not horizontal scroll bar sensitive like other applications).
To enable the 'Center on mouse' option, from the menu go to:
Options -> Global preferences -> General (tab) -> Mouse wheel behavior (section)

  • Tabs always "snap" when adjusting them with the mouse

As you can tell I am a new poster to this forum, and I am getting up to speed with Pages '09.
However, I am a long time user of all versions of AppleWorks, from ClarisWorks to AppleWorks, and I know a bit about them, okay.
Unfortunately, I find some things annoying with Pages '09, but please note that I also find the positives are well in advance of those, by miles or kilometers if you will.
As my subject suggests, when one is adjusting the tabs with the mouse, the tabs always snap to the closest whole number position of the ruler setting. I believe that this feature is wrongly implemented, especially if you don't have another option to over-ride it.
I know that I can fine tune the tabs using the Inspector and the Text tab settings for Tabs, but having to use this feature slows you down, A LOT!
This post is really just a way for me to "let off some steam," so to speak, as I know that there really isn't much that anyone can do about it, unless that this feature is reprogrammed.
So what about it Apple engineers, such a small feature, such a big time saver.
    Much regards
    Felix Macri

I have to thank all the people who commented on this seemingly "small-time" item.
It would seem a bit unfair that such a solution would require that someone other that Apple would have figured it out and then posted it.
Seems like we are fending for ourselves here.
Maybe because this program is such a complex beast, that some of their features slipped through the cracks in regard to updating their documents.
    Whatever.
We have the solution by someone's ingenuity. Viva the collective minds of the rest of us.
    Much regards

  • There is no longer a "close tab" under the file menu, so how do I go back to a previous page when the back button will not work?

Often the back button will not work. I can find no "close tab" under the menus, which I think used to be there, and which is used with Internet Explorer to go to the previous page. How can I go back to the previous page with Firefox when the back button will not work?

No you can't. Apple don't support downgrading of iOS.

... does my iMac model... support Hibernatemode 3 alias "Safe Sleep" to protect my Mac against damages due to power outage?
You can set hibernate mode to 3, but it seems to me its only benefit could be if power were to be lost after the iMac was already sleeping. Sleepimage is written to disk prior to system sleep. If your iMac lost power while it was "awake" you would certainly lose any unsaved work no matter what hibernate mode you choose.
The problem is that an iMac without power no longer sleeps, it's dead. Upon restoring power you need to cold boot, and I seriously doubt sleepimage can be forced to load in that event. Sleepimage is loaded upon wake from "safe sleep", not from boot as far as I know.
It is simple enough for you to try, so go ahead and see if it does what you want. Other than creating a 16 GB sleepimage file it did not appear to do anything beneficial on the iMac I am using though (a later model).
    The file location is /private/var/vm/sleepimage
Configure hibernatemode, verify the file is created, do some work on your Mac, don't save it to disk (and don't use Pages or similar app that saves work on its own), let it sleep, then pull the plug. I think you will see what I mean.
