Safari problems on OS4
Apart from the main problem of my 3GS rebooting after/during calls I also have an irritation with safari. Clicking links in websites either does nothing the first time then works the second time, works the first time, or opens up a dialogue box asking whether I want to open, open in new window etc. No consistency and very irritating.
Can we have an update ASAP.
another thing you might try is (after quitting safari) opening up:
/applications/safari.app/contents/resources/english.lproj/brower.nib
in interface builder and ensuring that the browser window is positioned where you want it. save the layout. note that this will affect all users.
on the other hand, this might be a multi-monitor issue (can't help there).
hmm...this other business is peculiar. it'd probably be better to start with firefox, since it's more self-contained. are you sure all your settings are identical on both versions? running:
diff -u g4firefoxprefsfile g5firefoxprefsfle
should give you a quick overview.

Safari problem: when I switch back into safari from another application, the menu bar comes up but no tabs or windows. What's going on? Just started yesterday. I have found a workaround: when I Command Tab back to safari, I hit command T to open a new tab and Command W to close it, and my other tabs are visible.
I have tried shutting down, closing tabs, with no success. What's going on and how can I fix it?
Thanks,
Cindi B
PS: I'm not sure of the actual OS level, but I have not allowed it to upgrade to Maverick yet; concerned about it because of a few things I've read...A Safari extension or third party plugin may be causing the menu bar issue.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
As for which OS X is installed.
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac.
The version is noted there.
v10.6 Snow Leopard v10.7 Lion v10.8 Mountain Lion
It's your choice whether or not to upgrade to Mavericks. If you decide to do this, make sure your Mac meets the requirements noted here. -
How to send a feedback to apple about safari problem?
how to send a feedback to apple about safari problem?
the problem is with a site of mobile phones, www.190.it
impossible to log in with safari browser.
with firefox or others no problemHi Ginada
Feedback to Apple can be made via the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple selection, or here. Apple doesn't respond to either; rather, uses the information for internal purposes.
Your alternative, if in the US and machine is under warranty including telephone support, would be to call Apple Care. 800-275-2273 -
When submitting a target survey I get back an error.... I think this may be a safari problem or mountain lion problem as I used to be able to submit surveys on their survey site. This problem occurs if I use my MacBook Pro or my iPad. I want try to win a 5000 gift card and can't win if I can't submit the survey. It lets me fill out everything and only after I hit submit I receive an error. Target says it's not their problem. I curious to know if anyone else has tried and receive back an error after hitting the submit button.
Thanks.....I'll try that the next time I get a new receipt from target. My old receipts are older than 72 hours now so I can't try Firefox with them. I appreciate the response and will certainly try this and post a reply if I was successful in submitting the target survey.

Safari problem: iOS7 on iPad - Apple ID Support - Stuck on "Are you sure you want to submit this form again?"
Now Safari is totally stuck. Neither the "submit" nor the "cancel" button works.
Since verifying Apple ID requires Safari (Google Chrome doesn't work because verifying email links only to Safari), it is impossible for me to change my Apple ID preferences.
HELP!!!!Close Safari completely and reboot the iPad.
Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the Safari app and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
Spaces and Safari: problem opening new browser windows
I have just installed 10.5 and have turned on spaces. I have put safari into its own space. When I control click on a hyperlink and select 'open in new window' from the submenu the new window does not open. I can open a new tab but new windows do not appear. The windows don't appear in any other space either.
Is this a spaces/safari conflict or a safari problem?Hi John,
I agree with Adam on the <cflocation> tag. I suspect it is a browser setting.
Like in FireFox
Tools/Options/Tabs
[X] Open new windows in a new tab
Like in IE,ver7
Tools/Internet Options/General Tab/Tab Section/Settings button
then bottom section "Open links from other programs in"
[X] A new tab in the current window
Try unchecking these boxes and then try your process again. Not
saying this will correct your issue, but does seem like a browser
issue to me as well and not <cflocation>

Unable to load certain website (not really a safari problem)
As the subject says, this isn't a Safari problem but instead a general issue I have run into, so perhaps this is not the proper forum for it. But I have always received good help here before so I figured I would give it a shot.
I have recently (for about the past week and a half or so) been unable to load macosxhints.com which I previously had visited daily. I am able to access it from any other computer other than my own. I am behind a Linksys WRT54G router but other computers behind the router are able to access the site. After recalling that the site is now run by macworld I tried their site macworld.com and am unable to access that as well. I have manually configured my connection through the Airport so as to be able to consistently run port forwarding services such as remote desktop.
I am able to use the IP address 129.250.134.26 to partially load the front page, but most images are not loaded and it is painfully slow. I have tried an nslookup from my machine and it times out. I have absolutely no clue what to do beyond this point, but seeing as that website is part of my daily routine, it is quite annoying to be forced to go without it. Hopefully someone who knows a lot more than I do about how this stuff works can share some insight with me and solve this issue. Thank you. What you actually want to be looking at is not the Static DNS but the DNS listings under the Status section. You should see it in a toolbar on the top of the website in the following order:
Setup Wireless Security Access Restrictions Applications & Gaming Administration Status
Click on that and you should see a bunch of things listed. At the bottom the list should be similar to this:
Login Type: Automatic Configuration - DHCP
IP Address:
Subnet Mask:
Default Gateway:
DNS 1:
DNS 2:
DNS 3:
MTU: 1500
As far as your router being connected differently than your computer, that is fine. What happens is your router is connecting to the outside world using PPPoE and your computer is connecting to your router using DHCP. -
My brother in law has a Safari problem with his MacBook. When launching Safari in the main account, it will lauch, open a window and quickly crash. After it crashed, a folder named "Lock" is created in the Users>(Main account)>Library>Safari folder. We tried deleted this folder and relaunching Safari, but Safari crashed upon launch and this lock folder is recreated. Safari works just fine in the other account, so it is definitely something unique to the main user file. Here a copy of the crash log, if that helps:

Excessive data use is there a problem with OS4?
I posted this problem on the network section with no response, so I thought I would try here (inspite of the previous posters comments!Perhaps someone can help me?
Has anyone had problems with excessive data use since switching to the new iphone and 0s4? My data use (i'm with o2) has increased over 4 times in the first month! In the 18 months with the 3g i used an average of about 150mb a month, the the most ever being 176mb. In the first two weeks of using the new phone I had racked up 450mb! I have tried the following - no push emailing, switching off notifications, closing down all the apps on the multi-task!etc. I have even taken to switching off 3G and data. O2 have given me a new sim card when I talked to them about the problem. Whilst the problem has been reduced with these measure it hasn't gone altogether and i am not getting the use or enjoyment out of my phone as I did with the 3g(i'm to worried to use many apps incase the data use goes throught the roof again) . Since I bought the phone I have added a few new apps and have played with the phone a little more but there is no possible explanition for the the massive increase in data use (it tended to happen over night - but i'm told thats when the data use information is sometimes collected). My 02 billing and data monitoring on the phone seem to be inline so I think it must be a problem with os4 or the phone.I know i'm not alone with this problem and as others start to monitor the use of data with the new limited data use coming on stream I think this could become as big as the reception issue for apple. Help anyone? This thread might help you.

Safari Problems With 10.5.3
I have been experiencing Safari problems since I updated to 10.5.3. More particularly, I cannot log on to my web banking site. Sometimes the log-in page will not even load. I had no problems with 10.5.2 & I have no problems logging on with Firefox.
You might actually want to talk to Apple's Tech Support or something about this_ You'd probably feel more comfortable giving them specific info than posting stuff on a general discussion to trouble shoot this_
I just logged into my account at Bank of America - who has a real pain in the *** online system and I got into my account just fine_ -
I can receive email, but can't reply or compose email. Won't accept applet or HTML. ISP Cox says it's a Safari problem. My software is all up to date.
Which email client is this?
In Safari / Preferences - Security. Make sure Java is enabled. -
Mail, Address Book, iCal, Safari problems after 10.4.6 update
Updated to 10.4.6 from 10.3.9 via purchased Tiger disks, and have been having problems with Apple basic applications.
Address Book opens, then freezes and must Force Quit.
iCal opens, then freezes and must Force Quit.
Mail opens, but cannot retrieve or send. Cannot Quit Mail, and must Force Quit.
Safari opens, and runs okay, until two letters of text are entered into a search box. I was able to work around this problem by going to Safari > Preferences > Autofill.
I unchecked AutoFill Web Forms "Using info from my Address Book card", and now I can enter text in a Search Box in Safari. I would also get a freeze when I would click Edit on that line.
When switching to a backup User Account, all these applications seem to run fine.
Thanks in advance for any help.
G4 1.25 Mac OS X (10.4.6)I get the following when I open Mail and Address Book in Console:

Safari problems on iMac G3 slot-loading CRT
I'm posting here because I haven't been able to get a satisfactory solution to the problem on the Safari discussion board. Here goes.
I recently upgraded my son's iMac DV (A G3 processor) to OS X 10.3.9. Was having trouble launching Safari 1.3. It would start to launch and then quit. Here's the chain of events of fixes I've tried:
1) Machine -- iMac DV (G3) w/ slot loading drive -- was running OS 9.2.2 I tried to upgrade it to 10.3 with Panther discs. It told me I needed a firmware update, which I installed, then upgraded from the disc. Firmnware is now listed at 4.1.9f1 (Anybody know if this is as it should be?)
2) I then upgraded further with a 10.3.9 Combo download, which installed Safari 1.3. However, when I double-click the Safari icon, it won't open. Nor will it allow me to upgrade to 1.3.1 or 1.3.2.
3) I then downloaded Safari 1.2 again and re-installed that. That seemed to work and at least allowed me to get on the Web. But now, I'm back at version 1.2.
4) I tried repairing permissions. No go.
5) In desparation, I performed an Erase and Install of the system software from the Panther discs and got it back to 10.3.9 via the combo download. It then allowed me to update Safari to 1.3.1 and then 1.3.2, but it still won't launch.
I did the same thing to my daughter's iMac G3 and it all went fine. Only difference was, I was upgrading her from OS 10.2.8 and when I did, it did not ask me for a firmware update.
Any suggestions anyone?Jamie,
Not being sure of what was suggested in the Safari forums....a few questions.....
* When you were able to get Safari to 1.3.1 did this open ok and just not 1.3.2?
* Not sure if it will help much but did you try trashing the Safari .plist file after downloading 1.3.2 (found @ ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist) to see if that would help?
* Have you checked out Dr. Smoke's X-Lab FAQ for Multiple applications quit unexpectedly or fail to launch?
Personally, I doubt the firmware update (and yes that is the correct version you are showing) is to blame for the Safari failure but someone else may see it differently.

Safari Problems on the iPod Touch
Sometimes, when loading a website, Safari suddenly exits and goes back to the homescreen. I think it could be related to the complexity of a layout on a website, but am unsure if I'm the only one that has had this problem.
Has anybody else had this problem?
Note: I have not added any special things like a jailbreak or anything, and have not yet, like everyone else, updgraded to the 2.0 version, but have the January upgrade. I bought my iPod Touch in February.I have the same problem. It closes upon loading or just randomly quits, and then the page takes forever to load once I get back into Safari.
