Safari Problems on the iPod Touch

Sometimes, when loading a website, Safari suddenly exits and goes back to the homescreen. I think it could be related to the complexity of a layout on a website, but am unsure if I'm the only one that has had this problem.
Has anybody else had this problem?
Note: I have not added any special things like a jailbreak or anything, and have not yet, like everyone else, updgraded to the 2.0 version, but have the January upgrade. I bought my iPod Touch in February.

I have the same problem. It closes upon loading or just randomly quits, and then the page takes forever to load once I get back into Safari.

Chances are the 2g itouch will not be included in the update. Also no one yet knows if it will be fixed in the next firmware but apple has said they know of this bug.

  • How do I remove a Safari Database on the iPod Touch?

How do I delete a Safari Database on the iPod Touch?
I am able to clear history, cookies, and cache but, not databases.
On the Mac I am able to remove a database but, not on the iPod Touch.
What good is clearing cookies if databases remain?

In Safari version 4.0.4 for the Mac.
Safari menu / Preferences... / Security
Database storage: "None" allowed before asking
Below that you can press the "Show Databases" button.
That lists the databases and includes buttons for "Remove" and "Remove All"
On the iPod Touch go to
    Settings / Safari /
Below "Accept Cookies" and above "Clear History" is "Databases >"
Touch that and you are presented with any databases for Safari.
Touch a database and you see "Used" and "Max Size" but, no way to delete the database.
For information on the existence of databases in Safari see http://www.apple.com/safari/features.html . There are 9 references to "database' the first being in the section titled "HTML5 Offline Support"

  • Problems syncing the iPod touch

My iPod Touch synced fine at first, but now all I get is an error message
"The iPod (xxx)cannot be synced. The disk could not be read from or written to." What am I doing wrong? I have tried resetting it, restarting it. Now tempted to 'relocate' it into the garbage .... Help!

I am having a similar problem with my iPod Touch. I have a fairly full iPod with 16Gb. capacity. I sync calendars, contacts music video and podcasts. For some reason when I include my selection of photos I get "This iPod cannot be synced. Unknown error -50."
If I leave the photos out it seems to work. Also, I have tried a restore, and now I have lost my notes ( I have the January software update)
Any ideas what is going wrong?

  • Problems with the iPod Touch (sound)

    Hey,
I was wondering (more like desperately hoping) someone can help me with my problem.
I've had my iPod touch for almost 2 years now but lately I've been getting problems with the sound.
When I bought the iPod, I bought some decent sennheiser plug-in earbuds too, because I find the one's delivered with the ipod pretty low quality.
For over a year, I loved my ipod touch (it's my second one) but one day, for some unknown reason, my sound was at not even half of the usual volume.
I've checked the settings but cannot find the problem, so I tested the ipod ears delivered with the ipod since they were new, same story (the left earbud was slightly louder than the right for some time but not too long, then they both gone quiet).
I've checked on the internet before and someone said "try jailbraking your ipod, because that sometimes helps, so I did but no effect.
So I set it back to fabric settings and went to a switch store, they listened and found it odd too so they send it in because it was still under guarantee.
Now (today), I've gotten a completely new ipod touch 16 Gb. So, happy as I was, I went home to put my music on it, and what happens? The sound is slightly louder than the previous one but still WAY too quiet! If I'm on the bus, its no use listening to it because I cant understand the lyrics cause of the background noizes the bus makes... Its p*¨ssing me off bigtime that its still way too quiet, anyone got any ideas how to fix it?
Please don't send useless reply's like get ya ears checked because Im in the army and they get checked regularly and they are perfectly fine!
Maybe with someone knows some other program or app  that I can use so I can fix this very irritating problem?
I have had 6 iPods before, from the first one that came out to the ipod touch 16 Gb, and its only with this one that Ive started having problems about a year ago.
Plus my girlfriend has an ipod too (not a touch) and on her ipod, everything works fine, my earbuds included :s
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance!
    Toby

Omg, I've put over 2 hours of work in it to reinstall other versions of itunes, ios n such to then find out that they DID NOT test my ipod and sennheiser earbuds that I gave in along with my busted itouch.... They told me they work fine... Now I took my girlfriends earbuds cause nothing worked, turned out they are both broken and now I need to go back to the store for new ones, dont think that the previous itouch wasnt busted then after all cause it was, tried with 10 different sets of earbuds
anyway Im a happy man again with a decent itouch and good earbuds, that I can lend from me girlfriend...
    Thanks for the help anyway

  • A few problems with the ipod touch

    Hi all,
Just trying to get some feedback from everyone. Firstly I love the ipod touch, I reckon it was a great buy compared to all the other new ipods (please dun shoot me on this, this is my opinion :P) but I've noticed some problems with it and was wondering if anyone else has the same problems.
Firstly when I sync the touch to my computer and change the name/details of 1 movie file, when I go back to the touch in the videos section the frame that is used on the list goes missing and defaults into the generic one (the grey looking monitor). I'm not sure why. I cannot get it back no matter what I try.
Another thing, I swap back and forth syncing using my MacBook Pro and my Toshiba Tecra (XP SP2) depending on which one I'm using at that particular moment. It's fine for music, but when I try to upload any kind of movies on the Tecra it seems to give me a BSOD. Something to do with the QT program files clashing with the system. Anyone had this problem before? And as a result I would just go to my MBP to upload movies and such.
Any kind of feedback and help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time all.

Try here (you likely tried most of these).

If not successful then time for an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • Problem with the Ipod Touch Music Player

Hi, I recently got an iPod touch 3g (8 gig) around christmas, and its been a truly great buy and worked flawlessly. However just recently I started having issues with the iPod's music player.
Ever since last night, I noticed that when I use the music player, and try to move 'FORWARD' a song (IE the double forward arrow button) the arrow would stay white like I was pressing it, NOT move forward a song, the screen would be unresponsive as the current song played, and then after 2-3 seconds the music player would crash and go back to the home screen.
I know it was a crash because when I went back to the music player, it was reset back to the 'Shuffle' option with the list of songs below it (usually, it leaves off on the last song you were listening to.)
I also noticed, that even if I just listened to a song completely without hitting forward, it would STILL freeze up and crash to home screen once the song was finished, even if I DIDN'T press anything.
But apparently the double back arrow (rewind/back) works without crashing it.
So my question is: what can I do to fix this? I already tried restarting my iPod (by holding the top and home buttons for 10 seconds) and it did not solve this. I always keep my iPod charged up, and I can't think of ANYTHING I did yesterday or recently at all to cause this problem....I generally only use the iPod touch for music or internet browsing.
    any help appreciated..

  • Anyone else having this problem with the iPod Touch 5g?

I just got the iPod Touch 5g tonight, and I love it, however I have this one little issue with it. Here's a picture of it. As you can see, the app I'm using isn't taking up the entire screen. Is anyone else having this problem? Is this something that needs to be fixed with an update for the app? Several of my apps do this.

The app isn't optimized for the larger screen. You just need to wait for them to update the app.

  • I have a common problem with the iPod Touch.....has anyone figured it out??

Frequently when listening to music, browsing safari, or playing videos, my ipod touch will stop abruptly and return to the home screen without reason. Shutting down the iPod is a quick fix, but within a half hour the same problem arises again. Has anyone found a permanent solution to this problem? If not, does anyone know if there is a scheduled ipod software update to fix the problem? Thanks a lot!!

If you are listening-browsing-watching the same time it looks like there is not enough memory for the iPod and it closes applications being run

  • Anyone else having WiFi problems with the IPod Touch 5th Generation?

I upgraded my old IPod Touch 3rd Generation to a 5th Generation yesterday. I've noticed however that for some reason the wi-fi connection on the 5th Generation drops off all of a sudden for no reason at all and I can't figure out why. Anyone else having similar problems? If so what did you do?

Does the iPod connect OK to other networks?
Does the iPod see the network?
    Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect OK?
    Did the iPod connect before?
If only your network then it could be a problem with your network
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Has anyone had a problem with the iPod touch 4 not charging?

I sent my iPod 4 in to get fixed and they are saying its my fault it won't charge. All of a sudden it quit charging and charging port is messed up. All I did was plug in the charger. I have had the iPod less than 2 months.

    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic. I Thin you did this and found problems
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. They do not fix yours.

  • My first major problem with the iPod Touch.

I have a problem with my 2nd Generation (jailbroken) iPod Touch. It has been stuck on a white screen (presumably the white screen of death) for hours.
Now if you're still reading this, you're still interested in helping me with this problem... So I'll go into more detail. I have NEVER dropped the iPod, nor given it any water damage. I was walking around a store today with it in my pocket; I took it out of my pocket and noticed it had a blank white screen. So I messed around with the power/home buttons for a while, and after maybe 10 minutes, everything was fixed. I was back on my home screen and everything was well. Maybe 15 minutes later, it was back on the white screen. It has been stuck on this white screen all day. I came home a little while ago and plugged it into the computer. At first, it didn't even recognize the iPod (nor did my iMac recognize it). Later, it magically popped into the iTunes window and I quickly restored it. It just finished restoring, but the white screen of death is still there... Here's the weird part: the iPod still functions perfectly. I can tell this because I can slide my finger where the "slide to unlock" would be, and I can hear the unlock sound. I can also press the sleep button and I hear the "lock" sound... I'm a technology nerd, but this has totally mystified me. Could it be the wires going from the hardware to the screen? Or is it software related? (based on the facts above, it's obviously not because of the jailbreak. For what it's worth, I probably won't jailbreak the iPod again... It's not really worth it.)
Thanks so much for your time!

If you go to the link krazyracer gave above, you will see that sending your Touch to Apple will likely do little or no good, since you have broken the terms of the EULA:
Apple strongly cautions against installing any software that hacks the iPhone OS. It is also important to note that unauthorized modification of the iPhone OS is a violation of the iPhone end-user license agreement and because of this, Apple may deny service for an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that has installed any unauthorized software.

  • The problem with the iPod touch 5 or cable

Welcome. Well, last night I connected the iPod to the laptop to be loaded, everything was fine. Later, the laptop turned off the iPod was connected to him, and in the morning I wake up, the battery discharged, turn on the laptop does not even Dryga iPod, plugged into the same outlet I try to turn it on and only shows up when the battery discharged and here my question is what could happen if something cable or iPod.

    Could be either
    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
iPhone and iPod touch: Charging the battery
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • HT4972 hello friends i have a problem in my ipod touch it has 4.2.1 version of software but it doesnot supports any aps so how to update the ios please anybody help me..

hello friends i have a problem in my ipod touch 3g it has 4.2.1 version of software but it doesnot supports any apps so how to update the ios 5 or more than this please anybody help me..i am in trouble.

I suspect you really have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.
Otherwise connect to yor computer and update via iTunes. Yo need iTunes 10 or later on the computer.
To more easily find compatilbe apps for 4.2.1
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
    Vintapps 3.1.3 - paid app.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
