Safari problems with iPhone4

i keep getting this problem when i use safari on my iphone 4 and it happens on both wifi connections and 3G connections. i will be viewing a site example wikipedia, and then i will click on a link on the page to view more info on the topic and it will open up in a new window or whatever and everything will be fine. soon i will have about 5 pages opened and then when i go to one it will reload, like a complete refresh and i will loose my spot that i was reading. a little annoying but whatever but then when i go to the next page it does the same thing and it will reload all of them and i will loose my spot on all of them. yeah a little annoying but this happens multiple times a day and not just for wikipedia but for forums. now its not the inconvenience that im concerned with its more the bandwidth that im using having to reload the pages multiple times daily. one day i used 100 megs of my 2 gigs in bandwidth. im not always able to be on a wifi in which case i don't really care. but i checked the safari options on the phone and im seeing nothing to correct this. if there's anything i can do please let me know.
thank you.

If Safari is having to reload a page when you go back to it, that means it didn't have enough memory to keep the page in memory. This can happen if you have lots of pages open in Safari, or lots of other apps frozen in memory.
Try to keep the number of Safari windows to a minimum and close any potentially memory hungry apps in the Recently Used Apps list.

If you had already removed the device from 'Find My iPhone' in iCloud, then you jus tneed to powercycle the device in order to activate it.
    Source: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4515
"After the device is removed from the previous owner’s account, turn the device off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button located on the top-right side of the device. Then restart your device and proceed with device setup as you would normally."
If it has not been removed, then the activation lock is still active.
If the previous owner cannot remove the device from their account there is nothing you can do unless the place you purchased it from will give you a refund.
    Activation Lock: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5818
What if I purchase a device that is still linked to the previous owner's account?
Contact the previous owner as soon as possible and ask them to erase the device and remove it from their account. For complete instructions, read how to remove a device from a previous owner's account.
How do I check for Activation Lock before purchasing a used device?
When purchasing an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from someone other than Apple or an authorized Apple reseller, it is up to you to ensure that the device has been erased and is no longer linked to the previous owner’s account.
Follow each of these steps to make sure that you can use the device you purchase:
Turn the device on and slide to unlock. If the passcode lock screen or the home screen appears, the device has not been erased. Ask the seller to completely erase the device by going to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. Do not take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it has been erased.
Begin the device setup process. After choosing a language, choosing a country, and connecting to a network, the device will begin activation. If you are asked for the previous owner’s Apple ID and password, the device is still linked to their account. Hand the device back to the seller and ask them to enter their password. If the previous owner is not present, they can remove the device from their account by signing in to icloud.com/find. Do not take ownership of any used iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch until it has been removed from the previous owner’s account.
You will know that a device is ready for you to use when you are asked to “Set up your iPhone", “Set up your iPad", or “Set up your iPod” during the device setup process.

  • Weird Safari problems with Forum

I've been having random problems with the forum and Safari. When I am not logged in I see this:
Every user, every post is the same except for the occasional (see the 7th row) odd one. I'm also not able to sign on. The login screen comes up but when I enter my un and pw the next page just reloads in a constant loop during the redirect. This is happening on 4 different computers 3 with OSX 10.8.2 and one with the lateest version of OSX 10.7. All have the latest version of Safari...

The forum database crashed a few days ago. There's all sorts of oddities. Not browser related (though of course you could always use a "decent" browser ).

  • Safari problem with plug-ins

    I'm having problems with plug-ins in Safari 4.0.5 (6531.22.7).
Within the past two days, Flash, and today, Java applets will not work in Safari. I get the following error messages:
"The page “The New York Times - Breaking News, World News & Multimedia” has content of MIME type “application/x-shockwave-flash”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed."
"This page has content of MIME type “application/x-java-applet”, but you don’t have a plug-in for this MIME type. This page may have the plug-in for you to download and install:
    http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/6u16/index.html
Do you want to open the page?"
Java worked as of 3/31. It was on that date, that I first noticed the Flash/Shockwave notices.
My 5 most recent updates through Software update were:
3/31/10 AirPort Base Station Update 5.5.1
    3/31/10 iTunes 9.1
    3/29/10 Mac OS X Update 10.6.3
    3/24/10 Safari 4.0.5
    2/7/10 iTunes 9.0.3
As of today, I have repaired disk permissions, reset Safari & emptied Safari's cache.
The plugins that are in my disk:library:Internet Plug-Ins folder are:
AdobePDFViewer, DivXBrowserPlugin, DRM Plugin, Flash Player, flashplayer.xpt, Flip4Mac, Google Earth, iPhotoPhotocast, ipxBrowserPlugin (folder), JavaPluginCocoa.bundle,NP-PPC-Dir-Shockwave, npdivx.xpt, NPSVG3Carbon, nslQTScriptablePlugin.xpt, QuartzComposer.webplugin, AuickTime Plugin, RealPlayer Plugin.
    In my user:Library:Internet Plug-Ins folder are: fbplugin1_01 & fbplugin1_03.
This is all on my primary account, which is an administrator account.
FireFox loads the Flash/Shockwave just fine.
I created a new account, logged in with that, and it does not have the same problems. It can see the Flash content on the NY Times site fine.
Any suggestions on more things to do?
    Thank you.

    Hi Larry
re Mail - which may be a separate issue - many people have found that opening Java Preferences (Applications/Utilities/) & clicking both Restore Defaults buttons, stopped an 'attachments not showing
in Mail with missing plugin icon' problem.
In Safari - is it just Flash you don't see?
    Try trashing Flash's settings & storage folder - Home/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/
    and a Flash cache folder - Library/Caches/Adobe/Flash Player/
If no better, there must be a preference file awry in your usual account, or some extra software beyond those facebook plugins.

  • Safari Problems With 10.5.3

I have been experiencing Safari problems since I updated to 10.5.3. More particularly, I cannot log on to my web banking site. Sometimes the log-in page will not even load. I had no problems with 10.5.2 & I have no problems logging on with Firefox.

You might actually want to talk to Apple's Tech Support or something about this_ You'd probably feel more comfortable giving them specific info than posting stuff on a general discussion to trouble shoot this_
I just logged into my account at Bank of America - who has a real pain in the *** online system and I got into my account just fine_

  • Safari problems with certain web pages dowloading a page instead of display

on some sites when i click a link to go to or open a page, it downloads the link. this happens with ebay for example where when i click on a link, it downloads ebay.dll instead (i know, weird). and now, ebay.com isnt even opening - i just get a blank page. it happens with .asp pages and .js pages too. everything seems to work fine in firefox. i was also having problems with gmail which would not allow me to click on links and if i typed, it would jump to another field on the screen if i typed a non-alpha character (i know, weird). that seems to be fixed now and i can use gmail.
not sure what the problem is. any ideas?

You would have to remove (uninstall) or reinstall the Georgia font if it is currently corrupted.
You can use the System File Checker to check for missing and corrupted font files.
It needs to be run from an Elevated Command Prompt.
Open a cmd.exe window as Administrator:
    Start, click Programs, click Accessories
Right-click Command Prompt, and choose "Run as administrator"
    Click past the UAC Screen
After the cmd.exe prompt, type: sfc.exe /scannow and press Enter

  • Safari problems with Snow Leopard

    Hi all
I bought my macbook almost two years ago now, it came with Leopard. In all that time I have no complaints about it except Mail's compatibility with several different internet connections I've had. However, since installing Snow Leopard a couple of weeks ago, Safari has begun to freeze unexpectedly on sites like you Youtube and Facebook, so that I have to force quit. This happens about 10 minutes after having a site up. This problem is not restricted to safari - I've just downloaded Firefox and it also freezes.
Anybody else having similar problems, and does anyone have any advice to stop this from happening?
    Cheers
    Liam

    HI,
    Try Safari maintenance.
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Mac OS: Web Browser Quits Unexpectedly or Stops Responding
If you have any 3rd party Safari plugins, they may not be compatible with 10.6. Go here...
Safari add-ons can cause performance issues or other situations
If you are still experiencing problems when using Facebook, et al, delete this file.
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    ~/Library/Preferences.
Move that file to the Trash and restart your Mac.
If you need help finding .plist files go here.

  • Safari Problem With Videos

I have an Intel Mac Mini with all of the latest firmware and the latest version of flash but for the past 2 months i haven't been able to watch quicktime videos or embedded flash videos like YouTube and the like. I have no idea why this is, can anyone help me?

I have the same problem. It started unexpectedly one afternoon, although all was fine the day before. Now, when I attempt to view Google Videos, all I see is the Quicktime logo with a question mark across it.
    I did as you mentioned:
"Make sure all boxes are checked in your Safari Preferences>Security>Web content.
System Preferences>Quicktime>Advances - enable flash ought to be unchecked. Also, Mime settings - Misc. - all boxes unchecked."
    ... it didn't fix anything.
The unfortunate part is that I don't remember if this started before or after I installed the latest Macbook firmware.

  • Safari Problem with Non-English websites

    Hello every body,
I ran into strange problem, I do not know why I can not browse corectly some non-english websites like کانادا مهاجرت  or مهاجرت کانادا or مهاجرت به کانادا . it sounds a messy, could I make a change in HTML codes to make it compatible with SAFARI?
    Thank you

Taleo's job search is flat out broken on Safari. Clicking the "search" button does absolutely nothing. The latest Firefox is also broken.
The only conclusion I can draw is that Taleo doesn't support Mac users, period. Stunningly stupid. Says a lot about the quality of Taleo's products and workers.

  • Safari problem with m4v - podcasts

I created a proper podcast with quicktime etc which launches CORRECTLY in firefox, internet explorer and opera. in Safari, however, on clicking the podcast, a CODE windo is launched, so there is obviously some error somewhere.
    Any ideas? thank you

The problem is in your page code (or lack of it).
Your "links" to the videos are direct to the files. Bad form as this bypasses the html code needed to call the correct browser plug-in.
A click on a link forces the browser to try and open the file in a new window and your server isn't properly configure (MIME types) to serve .m4v files.
So those .m4v open in a new browser window and display as text (gibberish).
You could learn how to properly code using object and embed tags or javascript that would call the browser plug-in (a lot of work) or simply tell your visitors to "right-click" on the links and choose to "Download Linked File" from the pop up menu.

  • Safari problems with languages

I have installed Safari Public Beta 3.0.1 in english on my french version of Windows Xp Home and it creates all the tree of directory with "English.lproj" or "en.lproj" but when i checked at the installed plugins it's lookking for the "fr.lproj" directory (probably because my system is in french). Also when i tried to modify the bookmarks in any way it closes the applications with no error message. I also tried to download it from France version of this site, but when i start the install it shows verything in english and does the same problem. So i'm thinking of maybe renaming all the directories to fit the language of my OS or simply trying to find it doesn't ask in which language i want to install it. If you know where i can change that option in Windows or how to get Safari to realize that he installed the english version and not the french.
    Please can you help me.
    Tinilmabard

Ok i found another topic that answered how to make Safari work :
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=997163
But it still would like to know if and possibly how to install it in french (not that i want to, i like the english version). But i would prefer not having to copy and rename files to make it work. Let's hope the problem will be fixed in the next release.

  • Safari problems with Twitter & Google Docs

Has anyone else been having problems recently using Google Docs & Twitter in Safari (I'm currently using 5.0.1)?
    *For Google Docs:*
It logs in sometimes very slowly to show me my list of Docs. Then when I actually am able to open a doc, it continues to say "Working..." at the top and "Loading https://spreadsheets..." at the very bottom.
    *For Twitter:*
Things seem to load ok, but it will not let me post a Tweet. Also when typing in the "What's happening?" box, the 140 character count does not count down. The Tweet button is also dull/ghosted/grayed out. I found this article: http://support.twitter.com/articles/136114-tweets-don-t-post-after-pressing-the- tweet-button-known-issue/20 mentioning what sounds like a similar problem, but I checked and I have Java enabled.
    Very frustrating

Ok.. WEIRD.. Just as a thought I turned off all Safari Extensions and it instantly fixed all of my problems. I then thought there was a bug in a specific Extension I had installed. I turned the Extensions back on though and things are still working fine. I did notice one of my Extensions had an update ready to install.
Things are still working fine for me, though I don't know if it was an issue with Extensions in general or a specific one I had. Here is a list of the Extensions I currently have installed:
    Twitter for Safari
    Exposer
    Facebook Photo Zoom
    Access Keys
    Awesome Screenshot
Anyone else have these Extensions installed?

  • Chrome and Safari problem with webfont word spacing in Muse CC

I'm designing a website using Typekit web font Open Sans 14pt. in Muse CC. When I preview page in Chrome or Safari (on Windows 7 64bit O.S.) the text doesn't display exactly word per line my Muse file. Words drop down to the next line. Almost like kerning has adjusted, but can't see it with the naked eye. However, using Chrome and Safari on my iPad, the text displays exactly the same as my Muse file - no problem. Using Firefox and Internet Explorer on the PC, no problem - text displays as per the Muse file. Problem only with Chrome and Safari on my PC. Tried playing with encoding etc in settings but no progress.

    Hey
Thanks for the reply. This is a live site, so I had to fudge it, which I did by incorporating most of the graphic elements into a layered Photoshop file and using that as the background. Instead of using an embedded video player, I had the video poster image open a new page, with the video embedded there. Finally, I made sure that none of the tooltip windows overlapped.
That seems to have gotten me something I can use, but I'm still curious about making ordering work as it's not always possible to design around the overlapping windows.
Is this not a problem you've seen before?
Overall, I'm very enthusiastic about Muse and using it in conjunction with Catalyst to allow clients to do some updating.
    Thanks!

  • Safari problem with plugin, keeps crashing

    Hi,
For several months, I've been getting a message when I open Safari titled SIMBL Error, which says "Safari 3.2.1 (v4525.27.1) has not been tested with the plugin (null) (null) (v0.62). As a precaution, it has not been loaded. Please contact the plugin developer for further information."
I have no idea what plugin it is referring too, so I've just been ignoring it. Other than Safari loading much slower as I open it, there haven't been any problems.
But in the last week, Safari keeps crashing. I tried uninstalling it and redownloading/intalling it, but I get the same message, and then it crashes.
Any help I could get with this would be much appreciated.

    Hi,
with the plugin (null) (null) (v0.62).
That'll be an old version of AcidSearch. Check for these folders. If you find any of them, trash them:
    /Library/InputManagers/SIMBL/
    /Library/Application Support/SIMBL
    /Users/YourUsername/Library/InputManagers/SIMBL/
    /Users/YourUsername/Application Support/SIMBL
Retry Safari after removing all you can find.
