Safari /Quick Time Player/Adobe Reader

When I try to download/open a pdf-document out of a webpage Quicktime starts automatically and shows just the fist page of the document instead of all pages. What can I do that the pdf document will be opened automatically by Adobe Reader.

Right click on any .pdf file and choose "Get Info".
In the Get Info window you'll see a tab that says "Open with:"
Change it from QuickTime to Adobe Reader and then click the "Change All..." button.

What are your goals. If playback is all you want, use the QT 7, MPEG Streamclip, MPlayerX, Flip Player, or any other app that plays content using your system's AIC, Animation, PNG, DV stream, etc. codec configuration which QT Player X v10.3 now only uses as conversion assets. As to what is happening here, it would seem that Apple has now added a full encode/decode codec to the default  system codec component configuration under Mavericks which may be replacing AIC as the default "poor man's" standard codec for for HD content. As to editing apps, iMovie v10.0 still accepts and natively uses AIC for editing projects but zI am not using FCP X, so I cannot make any comments regarding its compatibility.

  • I can't get quick time player to work, keeps teeling me i need plug in,'i have the latest player . can anyone help

I can't get my quick time player to work, it tells me i need a plug in, but I have the latest software

    Hei Carolina
Just want to tell u that i got help now, and everything is fine. Maybe u should try to give them more information about the following:
When asking questions or reporting Flash Player problems, please do:
    specify your operating system (including 32bit or 64bit);
    specify your web browser and version (including 32bit or 64bit);
    specify your Flash Player version (check http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html);
You may have to wait longer for an answer if you do not follow these requests, or you may not get any answer at all.

  • Safari &Quick Time

I have mac mini which operated 2 displays.
I have to do the following:
The main display run Quick Time player full screen in loop,
The secondary run Safari full screen (no toolbar)
    Here is my problems:
    1. Don’t know how to redirect Safari to second screen (although I can do that with Quick Time using applescript “present document 1 display 2”, it doesn’t work with Safari) .
    2. Don’t know how to open Safari in full screen.
    3. Since I don’t have “Quick Time Pro” installed, I can’t use the Quick Time action “Play” (because it doesn’t exist) and therefore I can’t use the “Get Specified Finder Items’ to play movie files with Quick Time.
Help would be appreciated, will be happy to have resolution to any of this isues…
Or even better... to all of them.

Sorry, posted in the wrong place.
It should be in Leopard forum.

  • Quick time Player has encountered a problem and needs to close

    Hello,
I am getting this message and it is driving me bonkers!
"quick time Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience".
Am running XP. Have uninstalled all Apple programs (QT, iTunes, update, bonjour, etc and in the order Apple recommends.) I re-installed QuickTime again.
    Same Problem.
Went to the control panel and launched the quicktime control panel.
QuickTime Preferences comes up. If i choose the "files type" tab this error comes up in a window:
    RUNDLL
An exception occurred while trying to run "C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QTSystem\QuickTime.cpl",QuickTime"
Clicking on this just closes the window.
Some one on another post mentioned something about another codex takinhg the place of an original. How do I find if this is causing it if only to shut down that avenue of conceren?
This has taken up SOOO much time I can't tell you and I can't use my iPhone or iTouch until I get it sorted.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Good work, craigeed. That's enough information (of precisely the right type) to suggest that you don't have a codec pack issue. If you had a codec pack problem, usually you'd get a rundll error if you just tried to open the control panel (and you're getting further in than that). Also, the rundll error for a codec pack problem would indicate that your QuickTime.cpl is lurking in the wrong place (down in the \system32\ directory). Your message is showing that your QuickTime.cpl is in precisely the correct location.
So we'd better start checking on some other possibilities.
The "QuickTime has encountered an error" message is pretty generic, but on at least some versions of QuickTime 7.x it has suggested malware problems. So we'd better try getting that off the table.
Download fresh definitions and run vigorous virus and antispyware scans. If your security software providers offer them, try backing that up with an online virus scan. (That can sometimes pick up an infection even if the security software on the PC has been compromised.)
Do the scans show up any problems? If so, does fixing them help with the QuickTime error?

  • Not able to watch .mp4 videos in Quick Time Player

    Hi,
I have a GOPro camera where the videos are currently stored on an external hard drive. I wanted to import those videos to iPhoto, which didn't work. Then I tried importing them without using iPhoto, but when trying to watch them I get a message saying that "Quick Time Player is not able to open the video.
I find this very strange, as I already have some GoPro videos in IPhoto, which I can view just fine (in iPhoto, and outside of iPhoto). The videos are shot using the same camera.
Also; Quick Time Player is supposed to support mp4. format; so I really don't see where I did go wrong?

What format is used on the external drive?
I suspect it's the reason the files can't be played.

  • How to open videos in Quick Time Player form my website

    Hi guys and girls,
I hope everyone is good. I was surching this forums for a while trying to find the answer. I didn't find a complete so I thought I'd post a question and hope someone could give me a complete step-by-step guide.
Here is what I'm trying to do.
Here is my site (one of them)
    http://web.mac.com/yuriyork/iWeb/720Neighbourhoodcircle/Welcome.html
if you go to video page you will see a QT movie loads and if you click play it starts to play. What I want is to make it play movie automatically once the page is open. I'd like to make this page the same way apple has done their video adds here http://www.apple.com/iphone/ads/ad2/ You have a button for small, medium large and HD formates and they all open in the same window. How did they do it?
Also, how can I make a movie open in new quick time player window outside of the safari browser.
Thank you in advance for all of your help with this.
    Sincerely,
    Yuri

do you know HTML? if you really do not know some important basics, then i suggest you forget this!
secondly, if you want to offer people a small, medium ,etc., version of your movie, that is gonna take up lots of space! you might just offer one version. 90% of the people watch only the large version.
if you do want to really really integrate this - then i guess you will have to use frames - or some kind of script (someone correct me if im wrong).
    max

  • Quick Time Player Confusion!

    I am confused.
In SL, every time I right click a movie file, whatever the format, and select "open with" I get a drop down menu headed:
    Quick Time Player Launcher (default).
    What is this?
Below this are listed the other players I have installed (VLC, DivX, RealPlayer, iTunes) INCLUDING Quick Time Player 10.
Is Quick Time Player 10 different from Quick time Player Launcher? It has a different icon in the drop-down list, Quick Time Player 10 Launcher has the default icon. Quick Time Player 10 has an icon I chose for it to assist in my distinguishing between the two (or is it one?) application/s.
In my applications folder there is Quick Time Player 10, but no Quick Time Player Launcher.
And when I select Quick Time Player Launcher from said drop-down list..... Quick Time Player 10 launches!
But, and here's the really confusing part, ALL the movie players I have installed are listed in that drop-down list EXCEPT Quick Time Player 7.
Now, call me old-fashioned, but I prefer Quick Time Player 7.
However, if I want to open a movie using Quick Time Player 7 I have to go to the bottom of the drop-down list, select Other, and navigate through my Applications to reach it.
How do I add Quick Time Player 7 to my drop-down list?
Better still, how do I make Quick Time Player 7 my default movie player?
    Cheers,
    Martin

QT player launcher is an application helper sitting inside QT player 7 which launches QT player 10. you should not see it in the open with menu. it's a known bug that you do see it. but it should not affect the functionality. if it does then reset your launch services database. delete the file homedirectory/library/preferences/com.apple.launchservices.plist and run the following terminal command
/System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchServices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -kill -r -domain local -domain system -domain user
note that this will reset all default programs set to open various file types to the defaults so you might have to change some afterward.

are you getting any sort of blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)
here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
if you're not seeing a blue screen (or just a flash of one), we can use this technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.

  • Quick Time Player 10 vs 7

I can play an MPEG movie on the Tiger iMac, Quick Time Player 7.6.4, but cannot play this on Snow Leopard, Quick Time 10.0.
The message says I need to download a different format, but does not say what. In reading about Quick Time, there is a download for Quick Time 7.
Is this the problem, or something else? Is it possible to have Quick Time 7 and 10 installed at the same time, or does one remove the other at installation?

If it's an MPEG-2, you need to install Apple's MPEG-2 playback component. Otherwise, click here for the software.

  • Quick time player for 10.7.5

I shot a video (CIMG2239.AVI) on my Casio 7.2 Elixim camera. I am trying to watch the video on my MacBook Pro (OS X Lion 10.7.5). When I try to play the video, I get a message, "Quick Time Player can't open because a required codec isn't available". My Quick Time Player version is 10.1. I did a search and saw that installing DivX for Mac would solve the problem. I installed DivX, and I still get the above mentioned message. Any ideas on how to solve this problem? Thank-you

Perian is no longer under development and does not work with QuickTime 10 or above. However, it still works with QuickTime 7.6.6.
If QuickTime 7.6.6 is your default media player, then Perian is the tool you need to make sure it plays any media file type you want. It will not work with QuickTime 10 or above and since its no longer under development, never will.
Casio tells me it's a software issue.

  • IMovie and Quick time player

    Hi,
I am a new Mac user. I had problems with QT and today I read that there are some codecs (like 3ivx) that can make problems for QT. I cleaned my Mac and now I can see my movies without problems using QT. But, working with iMovie, I can´t import the movies into event library as I did before.
Do someone know why? The movies are .avi but this was not a problem before...

I have find the reason for my problem. Trying to repair Quick Time Player I loaded some codecs. Those codecs did possible to see AVI movies in Imovie. When I deleted the codecs Imovie stopped to show the films. I did not know that Imovie do not support AVI files.
I spoke with mac support people and they told me that what I need is a convert program to change AVI into mp4 or mpeg4
So now the question is... do you know a good converter and where can I find it?
Also, what is the difference between mp4 and mpeg4?
I am sure that this is basic, but I have just begun with mac....8o§
