Safari Quicktime Plugin - Can I Make Playback Fullscreen ??

Hi,
Now I might be missing something because I'm a new user but I have searched the forums and my setup but can't find an answer.
I use Elgatos EyeTV product and have some recordings on my Mac Mini downstairs which I have flagged as available for wifi access within EyeTV. This make them available via a URL in Safari and I can access the page fine from my MacBook upstairs.
The issue I have is that when I play a recording inside Safari and it starts to play as a Quicktime movie (using the Quicktime plugin), it plays in a small window inside the browser and I cannot see how to get it full screen.
My only option is to copy the URL from Safari and paste it into the Quicktime Pro app itself and then switch to full screen from there.
Is there anyway to get Safari to launch the recordings into Quicktime Pro itself rather than the browser browser and thus enable me to switch to full screen without any wasted effort?
I am assuming of course that this is something that is Quicktime/Safari related rather then EyeTV and that any Quicktime movie viewed via Safari will appear in a plugin window.
Many thanks in advance.
Kind Regards
Radar68

Can somebody give me a hint?If you don't already have the latest version of the Adobe Flash software installed, download and install it. If already installed, go to the "QuickTime Preferences > Advanced > MIME Settings > Misc. > Flash Media" area and uncheck this option. Doing so tells the QT browser plug-in to let the Adobe Flash software handle this media. Leaving it checked tells the QT browser to process the media itself but the QT plug-in is only rated for use up to Flash v5 compatible content.

  • Why does safari/quicktime plugin not allow me to save mp3 files

    hello,
there is a website allowing me to download mp3 files. But unlike windows where I can do "save as" -there is no such option available in safari/quicktime plugin.
is it that apple doesn't want me to save any mp3 files?
    thanks

  • Safari Quicktime plugin and filtering proxy

I there. I work in a secondary school in the UK and we have a suite of iMacs that are integrated into our Windows network. We've just encountered a frustrating problem using Safari (4.0.4) and our internal filtering proxy machine (RM SmartCache (2a.9.9) -a third-party product built on linux, but sadly I can't provide any more information than that about its internals).
Our webfilter is set to authenticate users via Active Directory. On the Macs, it cannot do this, so asks users to manually log in with their AD credentials when they request a page. Frustrating for them (largely because they haven't figured out what the 'Remember this password' tickbox does), but it works.
The problem we're having is that the Quicktime plugin for embedded videos also asks for authentication credentials for the webfilter box, but never accepts any and the video never plays - it just pops up the authentication request dialog over and over, regardless of the credentials you provide or the form you type them (username, domain\username, domain/username etc).
(FYI, the page prompting the question in http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/#idvd , but this also occurs with other Quicktime embedded movies on other sites.)
To add to this issue, I've tested the same functionality in Firefox 3.6, and it works correctly. The Quicktime plugin still requests proxy authentication, but it only asks once, then starts playing the video.
Has anyone encountered this, or a similar problem before? Does anyone have any ideas where I can look next to resolve this? I'd prefer not to have to roll out Firefox to the Macs, if it can be avoided...
    Thanks in advance,
    Andy B

  • I have been given a link to a "free MP3 download" and it opens in Mozilla using QuickTime - how can I make it download so that I can save into my iTunes library?

This download - http://www.steveharley.com/images/freebie/FaithandVirtue.mp3 - automatically opens in Mozilla with QuickTime plug in ... I've checked file associations for QT player and MP3 is not selected ... I can't see any way of saving it to my hard drive or forcing it to become a "download" ... can you help me please?

Music and Apps are not stored in iCloud, they are stored on the computer to which the device is synced.
Connect the device to the computer and sync the content.
If for some reason you've never synced with a computer or for some silly reason you have chosen to no keep your purchased content on your computer, see Downloading previously purchased content from iTunes.

  • Safari 5.1: Can't make Bookmarks page the Homepage any more?

With Safari 5.0, in General Prefrences, I had typed in "bookmarks:" as my homepage, which allowed me to type Shift-CMD-H or click the Home button to return to a window with all my bookmarks listed, ready to be clicked again.
With Safari 5.1, inserting "bookmarks:" just brings up a blank page (although opening a new window with CMD-N will bring it). When on my Bookmarks page, the "Set to current page" isn't selectable in the General Preferences.
So somewhere along the line, the link to the bookmarks file has been changed. Does anyone now know what I need to type in to make it findable again by Safari?
    Many thanks.

    (using 10.6.8, not Lion!)

    Hi H_Starman,
thanks for your reply but unfortunately that wasn't the problem.
I do already have "Bookmarks" selected in both "New windows open with ..." and "New tabs open with ..." but below that, the "Homepage:" box, I used to have "Bookmarks:" typed in there which linked the Home button on the Toolbar (or if I typed Shift-CMD-H) to my bookmarks directly. Typying in "bookmarks:" now in this box in 5.1 doesn't work (a blank page now appears) so I'm looking for the correct "link" to insert there. Any ideas?
    Thanks again

  • Quicktime Plugin Issue in Safari on Mac OSX Lion.

(Strange) Safari - Quicktime - issue on Mac OSX Lion (All Updates done - 20/11/2011)
Strange issue with Safari - Quicktime video playing - on Mac OSX Lion (All updates done till 20th Nov 2011 night)
Problem discovery: Tried to view the Apple iPhone 4S Keynote on Apple Website. Strange that Safari does not display any videos from Apple Website.
Following works OK:- You Tube worked fine.
    - Google Chrome worked fine. (It shows the quick time player loading and then displays the video absolutely fine.)
Conclusion: There is some problem with Safari Quicktime Plug-in.
    Strange Discovery:
    - There are two users on the MAC. Logged in with a general user (Non Admin)
    - When tried to view Apple Videos on Safary ... THEY WORKED FINE !!!
    - The user where they donot work is an ADMIN User ... Strange !!!
    System:
    - Mac-Mini 2010 - 8 GB RAM - with OSX Lion fully software updated until 20th Nov 2011 night.
    - DIVX is installed and is also a paid version - registered with DIVX website.
    - VLC is installed.
    - Perian was installed - after problem discovery - uninstalled it - no use.
Please help with a solution if anyone has faced and solved this problem. Sub question is : If DIVX / anyother plug-in causes problems with QuickTime plugin on Safari, why does it affect only one user on the system and not other users on that system ?
    Notes:
    1) There is a similar looking thread on MacRumors here but concluded that required to start a seperate one with clear problem statement.
    2) Apple Forums
    (a) One thread on topic that hints that some 3IVX plug-in can cause issues with Safari Quicktime Plugin: here
    (b) Another thread from Apple Forum, that hints that DIVX causes problems to Safari Quicktime Plug in, Link is Here

Refer to a thread on Apple Discussions Forum itself, Link is HERE; refer to the posting by "Charles Cole",

Re: Does anyone recommend OS X Lion?
Aug 2, 2011 8:09 PM (in response to Landrix)
Charles writes about DIVX and QuickTime Plugin conflict in Safari:
One thing I've discovered that might help anyone having a Quicktime Plug-in issue. If you have DivX as a codec on your system (usually installed to play .avi files) you'll want to uninstall it so that Sarfari 5.1 will default to the Quicktime Plug-In and not the DivX plug-in. Otherwise, you can't see Quicktime movies in Safari.
Note: this post is about and at the time of OSX Lions launch, i.e. 10.7.0.
Now we have 10.7.2, still cannot believe Apple has not fixed this bug !!!

  • How to make a fullscreen button for Flash Catalyst?

Hey everyone.  I really hope someone can help me with this.  How can I make a fullscreen button in Flash Professional that would make my Flash Catalyst project go fullscreen?

I'm sorry I really don't know Flash Catalyst as much as I'd like to. Designing interfaces is left up to me, no designers at my agency use Catalyst. Though this is the Flash forum so that's as much as I can tell you. I didn't know Catalyst didn't support basic scripts (I thought I read that it did).
Ultimately, for a very cheap price you can do something like go to http://www.lynda.com/ and buy a membership. Dirt cheap compared to what you get. They offer many courses on all this stuff and I'm sure your answer would lie in one of the (nicely broken up by subject) video training videos.
Just searching for Catalyst brings up a bunch of courses:
    http://www.lynda.com/search?q=catalyst&x=0&y=0
    edit:
For instance I watched the essential CS5.5 training and I saw in 2 minutes flat that when you click on a button you should have an "Interactions" panel that lets you do things. If they didn't put fullscreen as an interaction that's another thing but I'm just pointing out it's very easy to learn how to do all sorts of things in video training. If you do not want to purchase a membership there just find a video you think would have the info in it and I'll watch it and let you know if it told me how to do it, and how to do it.

  • How can I make my Quicktime plugin work again?

Before installing the Firefox v3.6, my quicktime plugin was working. After I installed v3.6, the quicktime plugin didn't work. I tried to uninstall v3.6 and installed back v3.5, but the quicktime plugin is still not working. How can I make it work again or how to fix this? Thanks.
Is there a way to undo the installation of Firefox v3.6, meaning to remove any traces of Firefox 3.6 installation, because this problem only came after I installed Firefox 3.6.
I'm able to play streaming videos from websites (e.g. http://www.singingsuccess.tv/videos/?vid=251) BEFORE I installed v3.6. AFTER installing v3.6, the streaming video now shows a blue Q with a question mark in the center. I tried to uninstall that version and install back v3.5, but the problem still exist.
Thank you and hoping for your prompt reply. More power.

You actually have to update the entire QuickTime application to get a new version of the QuickTime plugin that Firefox uses.
I don't know what you mean by a licensed version of QuickTime. Do you have QuickTime Pro (paid version) or the free version?
If you are updating the free version, just download it from http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ and then install it on top of your current version (no need to uninstall it first).
If you are updating QuickTime Pro, I copied this from http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12301362&#12301362

  • I have just upgraded to OSX 10.6.8 and now I cannot open or save PDF files from the internet. I get a dialogue box saying the QuickTime plugin has failed. I have tried to download the latest plugin but this doesn't work. Can anyone help?

I have just upgraded to OSX 10.6.8 and now I cannot open or save PDF files from the internet using either Safari or Firefox. I get a dialogue box saying the QuickTime plugin has failed. Can anyone help?

Is this what you downloaded: iTunes 10.7?
When the update fails what if any error report do you get, specifically? Please do this before trying again:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.

  • Quicktime plugin works in IE and not in safari

    Hello,
I'm using Safari 2.0.1 for browsing the web. I'm on Tiger 10.4.2 and have QT7 pro.
Firewall is set to let Quicktime streaming pass through.
the following URL is extract from the allocine web site witch is the french movie portal.
    http://www.allocine.fr/video/generation.mov?u=rtsp://a1622.v09806.c980.e.vq.akamaistream.net/7/1622/980 /41891159/quicktime.allocine.fr/nmedia/18/35/52/34/18397590_fa1_vosth.mov
under safari I've got the big blue Q and that's it. On IE it works fine.
Moreover on safari the end of the URL (beginning at RTSP) open quicktime player.
Sound to me like a bug but can't be sure.
You can check at www.allocine.com click on a movie and try to watch a trailer ("bande annonce" in french).
Moreover High definition trailer works fine on this site with quicktime....
    really strange
    maxime
just an add on : Trailers on apple web site works fine

Sorry but already done that. Quicktime is set to RTSP and SDP in the mime settings...
A person in the french forum got the salme problem than I and install IE. With IE he can got at allocine web site..
I'm convinced it's something to do with the HTML interpreter but can't point out.
On Safari the plugin seems not starting so I assume it's not the connexion and can't see why it would works under IE and not safari in this case...
Please, I don't want to why IE, get my Safari back to work on allocine web site with quicktime

  • Help!!! How to make quicktime plugin do not display on top of the web page?

Any one knows how to make quicktime plugin do not display on top of the web page??? I've tried to change the zIndex property using javascript, but it doesn't work.
Because we have some widgets which are required to be moved to anywhere on the page, we use iframe to implement that, so it can display on top of quicktime plugin, but the plugin flickers sometimes when we do some operation on the widget which is on top of it.
Anyone can helps me? Thanks in advance!!!

Check the docs. Trent is usually very thorough in his
    instructions.
Hint: I haven't studied it but it probably involves modifying
    one of DW's
    built-in Behaviors.

  • Quicktime Plugin fullscreen mode ?

Well, every other video plugin let's you view a video in fullscreen.
How can you to that with Quicktime ?

I completely agree. This functionality should be built into the plugin. It's frustrating that the new >Quicktime Player X application has a fullscreen button built into the menu bar and the plugin does >not offer the same option. It really would be helpful to not have to launch the Quicktime player >application to view web video in full-screen or have to resort to using Flash players to accomplish >this.
We are going to use an open source flash player for our website (http://www.longtailvideo.com/players/jw-flv-player/) and stream our files in mpg-4 format because we need the fullscreen ability. Things would be so much simpler for us if we could use quicktime (since we will be using a QTSS server).
I have not heard anything on whether the plugin will be updated now that Snow Leopard server and Quicktime X are out.
Oh, and if the embed tag is dead, someone forgot to tell Apple.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/embed2.html
Those seeking compatibility with a wide range of browsers use both the <object> and <embed> tags to accomplish this. Hopefully the <video> tag issues will be resolved so that people don't have to deal with this mess anymore.

    Thank you Benjt and Sue:
I have first chosen to followed Sue's suggestion concerning the firewire connections since that looked to be the one most easily done quickly. I therefore had to make more room on the hard drive in my MacBook Pro since the drive is only 100 GB. I normally use an external 400GB drive to hold my video files since one of the plays last May required about 200GB! However, the play this time was a short one and not really High Density anyway like the one was in May with a much finer camera. I have been connecting the external HD via Firewire800.
I simply moved a number of files from my MacBook Pro drive and put them in the external HD as well as another HD and then disconnected the external HD from my MacBook. I was, indeed, able to import the entire tape in one shot into iMovie. iMovie is still not working right since I found that I had to click "import" in iMovie to start collecting a clip and then hit "play" on my camcorder to actually import the tape contents into the clip. I found the whole play, just 50 min this time, in that clip when we returned home this evening.
I can now get the editing done one their last play for the kids and have DVDs for them when I go back up to Gainesville to record their current play on Thursday evening.
I will then devote some time to trying to solve the rest of the problem, looking into Benjt's suggestions.
Thanks very much for your very timely critical and positive help this afternoon. For your information, I also have been working on learning Final Cut Express but as I tried to put all of my reading into practice, I now I can't even get FCE to open - but that's another story and a very different problem.
    Thanks again.
