Safari Redirecting and opening apps

When I visited a website on my iPad, it automatically redirected me and opened the zynga poker app in the App Store.
My iPad is NOT jail broken. I only have the problem when I visit the specific site in question; it doesn't occur on other websites, even ones I have opened at the same time.
Is this a problem with that specific web site in question, or my device?
Could I have picked up some security issues from this website?
Is there anyway to delete Mal/adware from my device?

  • Safari Browser and Mail App cannot be opened.

After I turn off my iPod Touch and start up again, Safari browser and my Mail App crashes every time I open it. I tried to reboot the device again, and it did not work. I'm going to have to restore, but my question is:
What are the reasons for this? This has never happen to me before.
    Replies appreciated.

Almost all the times things like that just happens and they seldom return.  If i keeps recurring after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod then you likely have a hardware problem.

  • I downloaded a reader file and it screwed up my Safari browser and the app opens with the Goggle Quick search which I can't get rid of

I downloaded a file to open a owners manual for a camera I needed. I had difficulty getting it down loaded and never could get the manual. I tried using my Safari browser and started getting this Goggle Quick Search file which opened in place of my Safari….I tried to close it and I can't. I did manage to get ride of the reader file.

You may have installed one of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates
    if it's not already checked.

  • Dashboard Widgets and Opening Apps

Hi, I'm having a hard time with my Dashboard Widgets and opening applications.
With my Dashboard Widgets, I can't click on the "more info" button. So if I put a clock Widget on my Dashboard, I can't change the region since I can't click on the "i" button. Is there anything you can think of as to why this would happen?
Also, whenever I open an application, it always loads in the background, keeping my current app in the foreground. Usually when I open an app, it loads in the foreground over my current app. For example, if I have Finder active and I click on Safari, Finder is still active and Safari loads in the background (inactive). I have to click on Safari to make it appear in the foreground and it's kind of annoying.
I really don't want to do a clean installation of Snow Leopard since that takes a good chuck of time to do. I tried repairing my disk permissions and reinstalled Snow Leopard using the installation disc to see if it would fix important system files but even after that my Dashboard Widgets and app opening problems exist.
Thanks for any suggestions and help you guys can provide.

Does anyone else have this problem? I've done a virus scan using Sophos Anti-Virus and nothing comes up.

  • Safari closes windows, opens App Store promoting some free game or just crashes. Virus?

My iPad air is barely a month old and I'm having issues with Safari closing, crashing or closing the tab that I am reading and opening the App Store as if I'd selected to download a free game. At first I thought this last issue was that I was touching adverts while navigating, but no, it appears to choose to do it all by itself. Is this a virus issue? I have cleared history, caches and cookies. Is there a way to reformat the iPad? Thanks in advance!

  • Safari redirecting to Facebook app

    Hay,
I have 2 accounts in Facebook. When I receive a mail from Facebook notifying me that I have news in account1, and I click the link to see the news, I got to Safari and then I got redirected to Facebook app. When I receive a mail from Facebook notifying me that I have news in account2, and I click the link to see the news, I got to Safari, to the login Facebook page, and nothing more happens, no redirection.
I would like to interchange the behaviours between account1 and account2, but I don't know how? I have tried reinstalling Facebook app, deleting iPad Facebook account, deleting all cookies, deleting all active sessions from the Desktop... Any ideas, please?

    Sorry, Hi, not Hay... ;)

  • Home screen and open apps

Some thoughts/suggestions after playing with Passport for two days:
    - Home Screen:  confusion of "home screeen":  in browser "Add to Home Screen".  it refers to the first left scroll of "Open Apps" screen. But the mini icon at the bottom of the screen the home sign refers to the left most screen - open apps.
    - Is there a way to customize which screen as "home" screen? Personally I don't like to go back to "open apps" when I swipe up my current app. I would rather stay to e.g the one next to it with desktop of icons. In most cases I don't bother to manage the open apps screen unless I do need to switch between them. Those big icons create distraction so I would rather hide them(and call them back when necessary).
    - switch/transition between different apps:  not quite natural/smoothly.  Need more fade in/out effect to make it feels perfect.

If you can't find the App Store app on any of your homescreens or app folders, and you can't find it via the spotlight search screen (swipe your first home screen to the right), then is it hidden by Settings > General > Restrictions > Installing Apps being set 'off' ?
If not then have you tried a reset to see if you can find it after the iPad has restarted ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
The reset (and/or getting the App Store app back on screen) might also get the apps to start downloading again. If it doesn't then check if there are any outstanding downloads in the iTunes store app that need to complete first e.g. is there anything shown in the Downloads tab in it

  • Problems created by latest updates. Safari, Mail, and other apps are hosed.

If there is a better forum to post this, please let me know. I don't see a forum specific to auto-updates...
Today auto-update installed Security Update 2006-003 v1.0 and QuickTime 7.1. After this install, I now have the following symptoms:
    1. Mail will not start. No window, no menu. Dock shows app not repsonding.
    2. Safari will not start. A blank window appears and the menu is painted. Dock shows app not responding.
    3. MS IE still functions. So, there is network connectivity. I am posting this using IE. Both Safari and IE have home set to apple.com/startpage/
    4. The System Preferences app starts and functions for most settings. However, if I select Accounts in order to disable the auto-start of Mail, the Prefs app never switches to the Accounts display, and it hangs forever.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Is there any way to roll back an update to see if that really is the problem?

Glad your problem was resolved. Just saw this thread and was curious after your clean install and Combo Update to 10.3.9 did you reinstall Security Update 2006-003 which was giving you problems with Safari and Mail.
You mentioned you have since run Disk Utility. From experience I have learned its normally a good idea to run Disk Utility before and after major updates including installation of Apple Security Updates. Did you reinstall the security update after reinstall, updating to 10.3.9 and running Disk Utility? I have not even installed Security Update 2006-003 at all or QuickTime 7.1
I don't want to risk downloading a defective update that causes more headaches than its worth. If it fixes some serious flaws and makes my Mac more secure but messes up with my system and prevents me from running Safari then obviously I won't touch it. I remember installing Security Update 2006-001 that was a nightmare. I had to do a clean OS reinstall after that to get Safari working again and reupdate to 10.3.9 so I can use QuickTime 7.
With iTunes 5 update for Mac and Windows I noticed on both my Mac and my PC (have an Apple laptop with OS X and a desktop PC with Win XP) that my shared music libraries stopped working. My Mac could not share music with my PC nor could my PC share music with my Mac. The iTunes 6.0.2 update was also problematic -- as Disk Utility stopped working.
I heard of problems in QuickTime 7.1 affecting both Macs and Windows PCs have deliberately chosen not to update either my Mac or PC to that update -- have QT 7 for Mac and Windows installed but won't update to 7.1 on either OS if it causes problems. Now I hear Security Update 2006-003 can force Safari and other apps like Mail to stop working.
Before I heard a few people say on Intel Macs the update caused OS to freeze more only (sometimes) which is a problem but didn't hear anything as serious as this. Was just considering finally downloading the update since I hadn't heard any problems yet but will now likely hold off on it indefinately. I do want my Mac to be secure but at same time don't want a faulty update to break my applications. Don't want to go through same problem I experienced when installing Security Update 2006-001 all over again with Security Update 2006-003.
After reinstalling OS X Panther and updating to 10.3.9 and running Disk Utility of course (as needed in between major installs) I deliberately did not reinstall Security Update 2006-001 I decided it was more headache than its worth. I had to reinstall OS X to get Safari working again and get rid of that update reinstalling it after that would only return the problem. Then I would have to do a clean reinstall of OS X a third time, update to 10.3.9 and QT 7 to access Safari. Of course I also reinstalled past Apple Security Updates from last year (calendar year 2005) that didn't cause trouble.
However, I did install Security Update 2006-002 later after I double checked -- waited for a while to hear if any bugs were in the update and once I felt sure it was a safe update I installed it to better secure the OS.

  • Adware popups, new tabs and opening App store - ***

Since the last iOS update (to 7.1.1) on my iPad2, new tabs open in Safari and AVG safe browser to adware, sex sites, etc with popups that tell me I have been selected to win... click OK to continue or Is your battery running out tooo quckly? Click OK to sownload a fix.... or opeing up the App store.
This is droiving me crazy. The only solution is to clear history and cookies data - I may have stumbvled on another fix, which is to switch to airplane mode so I can click OK and then shut down the tab.
In any case, there doesn't seem to be any answer on the search engines other than delet cookies and history. That is not a good answer and doesn't fix the issue. iOS is not supposed to get viruses or mailware, but this is one of those things that if it smells like a duck, quacks like a duck, craps like a duck...it must be a duck.
Has anyone else had this problem or is everyone except me happy as a clam in the mud.
Apple wants 20.00 to talk to me.., and then would probably deny any knowledge. But there is something wrong and I neeed the community help.
Please, short of resetting back to the factory defaults (which I mad do anyway, just dont have the time to spend on it right now) there has to be someone that knows about this and how to remove the problem. I am open to eveything.
    Thanks,
    M

There are really only a few possibilities here, and unless you have jailbroken your iPad, malware isn't one of them.
    1) It's the sites you're visiting. If you only see this problem when your browser tries to load specific sites - perhaps sites that were already open the last time you used your browser - then those sites are probably the cause. The fix in this case is something people are strangely reluctant to hear: stop visiting those sites.
    2) It's a compromised network. If the problem stops when you take your iPad somewhere else, and use a different network, and recurs when you return home, then your home network is compromised. Most likely this would be due to a hacked wireless router, but could also be due to a domain name server issue at your internet service provider.
    3) It's a crap network. Are you using your own network, or using someone else's free network? Sometimes free networks will inject all kinds of advertising stuff as a means for paying for the service. The solution here would be, as with #1, stop using that network.
For more information on the second option, see:

  • Redirected when opening Apps Store to iTunes Store on iTouch. Help, please?

Recently after updating my 3rd Gen iTouch with the 4.0 software, I get redirected to ITUNES store when I try to access the APP store from it. I have tried rebooting and I have restored my device several times. Nothing has made a difference.
I do not have this problem when I access iTunes from my laptop.
This is my 3rd iTouch (in less than 2 years)and I am beginning to lose hope on Apple Products. I would like to avoid a trip to the Apple Store for yet another replacement.
Does anyone have any help to send my way? I'm willing to hear it all.
    Thanks so much, much appreciated.

  • A white light burst when "unlocking iphone with Touch ID" and "opening apps".

A white light burst occurring from the top left corner (near volume buttons) whenever i am unlocking it through the Touch iD and while opening any apps.

Title: Burst of White Light on iPhone 5S and iPhone 6
    Description:
On unlocking the device with Touch ID a burst of white light is produced from the Top Left/Right corners of the screen.
It happens when more than two folders are created i.e three/four folders each having some applications and the phone is locked while on the same screen.
If no folder or maximum two folders are created then no such burst is produced when unlocking with Touch ID.
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Configure Touch ID
    2. Use Black/Dark wallpaper on Home & Lock Screen.
    3. Create minimum four folders either on the home screen or the second having some applications in each.
    4. Being on Home Screen lock the phone.
    5. Unlock with Touch ID and a Burst of White Light will appear on Top Left/Right Corner.
    6. Now move/drag two of the folders to the other second page.
    7. Go back to Home Screen and lock the phone.
    8. Unlock with Touch ID and there is no Burst of White Light.
                        OR
Repeat step 1 and 2 as listed above.
    1. Go to the second screen (after home screen) and create three or four folders with applications in it.
    2. Lock the iPhone while on the same screen.
    3. Unlock with Touch ID and there is a Burst of White Light.
    4. Now drag or remove the folders with only two left.
    5. Lock the iPhone while on the same screen.
    6. Unlock with Touch ID and there is no Burst of White Light.
NOTE: If iPhone is LOCKED and UNLOCKED when on the screen with no folders NO WHITE BURST is there.
    Problem Since:
Burst of White Light when apps added to a folder and unlocked with Touch ID. This is noticed since the update iOS 7.0.6 [11B651]
    Devices:
The burst of light on iPhone 5s is easily recognized but on iPhone 6 its for a fraction of a second. Not checked on iPhone 6+.
