Safari refusing to load, SyncServer problems

I've got a 15" Powerbook 1.33 G4 running 10.4.8 (not my computer) and I'm having some trouble getting Safari to load. It loads to where you can see all of the Safari window, the dock icon (little triangle underneath) acts like it is fine, etc but the home page never loads and you are unable to type anything into the address bar or google search box.
I killed off the preferences and the syndication databases and went from a Syndication Database thread problem to the following error as viewed in Console:
SyncServer[411] A Sync Server is already running on this computer, exiting process.
SyncServer[412] A Sync Server is already running on this computer, exiting process.
Any ideas? I've never run across a Sync Server error so I'm completely in the dark here.

HI and welcome to Apple Discussions...
Try troubleshooting Safari...
having problems with Safari not loading pages after updating to the most recent version ?
Could be you have third party plugins installed that were compatible with the previous version of Safari but not compatible with Safari, go here.
Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
If third party plugins aren't the issue, from the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 6 buttons and click Reset. Relaunch Safari. If you still have problems...
Go to the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari/Preferences. Make note of all the preferences under each tab. Quit Safari. Now go to ~/Library/Preferences and move this file com.apple.safari.plist to the Desktop.
Relaunch Safari and see if that makes a difference. If not, move the .plist file back to the Preferences folder. If Safari functions as it should, move that .plist file to the Trash.
And if you haven't repaired permissions since updating Safari, it would be beneficial to do that.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.
Hope something helped...

  • Safari refuses to load phpMyAdmin icons

Safari refuses to load image file from our web server phpMyAdmin because of content-security-Policy, yet all other browsers such as Chrome load the images (icons).  Attached is a screen shot. This is version 4.01 of phyMyAdmin and the same problem occurs all the way back to phpMyAdmin version 3.5.7 which loads the images (icons).  I can find no content-security problem. Hopefully, I have posted to the correct community since only Safari is creating the problem. Running Safari 5.1.9 on Snow Leopard (10.6.8)
    All feedback is appreciated.

I had the same problem. I'm also running Safari 5.1.9 on Snow Leopard (10.6.8). I just installed phyMyAdmin 4.0.5 and got the same results as on your screenshots.
The problem is the CSP header that blocks the load of external images.
If you comment out some lines in phpMyAdmin-4.0.5/libraries/Header.class.php, you can deactivate the image blocking of the CSP header.

  • Apps/iTunes/App Store/Safari refuse to load

Music will load and play, as well as photos. My email will update as well, but apps/iTunes/App Sore/Safari/Youtube/Weather/Stocks all refuse to load.

    Any restrictions set in Settings/General/Restrictions?
Did you already try to reset your device by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data doing a reset.

  • Safari refuses to load webpages after update

Since updating to Safari 5.1 if I attempt to log on to a website, the progress bar moves slightly before stopping and the page refuses to open. Oddly it works with no problem on my wife's account (OS has 2 accounts, mine being the admin).
You can see all TS steps attempted here.
Thank you for reading, hopefully someone out there has found a solution to this.

Since it's ok on other user accounts, it's possible you have a third party plugin installed (in your account), or an Extension that was oompatible with the prior version of Safari but not 5.1.
Check Safari / Preferences - Extensions. Turn that off if you have any installed, quit then relaunch Safari to test.
And it could also be a third party Safari addon. Troubleshooting help here >  Unsupported third-party add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues
If nothing above helped, Quit Safari.
Open a Finder window select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. Then open the Library folder, then the Caches folder, then the com.apple.Safari folder.
Move the cache.db file from the com.apple.Safari folder to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari. See if that helped. If not, try troubleshooting the Safari .plist file.  (preferences)
Go to ~/Library/Preferences. Move the com.apple.Safari.plist file from the Preferences folder to the Desktop.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, move the .plist file to the Trash.

  • HT4528 Brand new IPhone 5c. Safari refuses to load.

Finally convinced my wife to upgrade from old Droid to an IPhone. My IPhone5 has been perfect. She chose a 5c with 32 gig.
Have to turn on ICloud to sync contacts. That *****, but OK...
    Then Safari freezes.
But, Google Chrome works perfectly. This is not good, Apple.
Apple has a product that its own software doesn't work on?
Judging from other comments, this is an ongoing problem.

Who is your carrier and what trouble shootings steps have you done to try to fix the issue?

  • Safari refuses to load

I was sent a .pptx file I needed to read but I thought my Mac did not have the correct programme to open it. (I am running Version 10. 9.2)
So I downloaded Free Genieo which I think downloaded okay. However whilst it was downloading it quit Sarari with the following error message entitled ‘Safari unexpectedly quit due to (using?)librooksbas.dylib plug-in’
I am not entirely sure of the correct wording of the headline but as I cannot reload Safari to check this is the nearest I can remember.
The worst thing about this is that I have now discovered I can read the file with Keynote! But I am still unable to load Safari. The message I am now getting is:
'The last time you opened Safari it unexpectedly quit while reopening windows. Do you want to try to reopen its windows again? If you choose not to reopen windows, you may have to open and position the windows yourself.
    Don’t reopen    Open’
When I press ‘open' I get the rainbow wheel and nothing happens - Force Quit tells me Safari is not responding.

Would the beta version of Thomas' adware removal tool help?
    As noted here: http://www.thesafemac.com/art/
Perhaps that is hypothetical should the beta be too much a leap
for a novice, who may not have a suitable backup of the Mac OS.
But thought I should ask anyway.

    HI,
Empty the Safari Cache from the Safari Menu Bar more often.

  • Safari load image problem with iMac Intel core

I got my new iMac 20" Intel core and system updated everything. I found that Safari cannot load image in my web photo album ( http://fotop.net/nicknick ), all image became "?".
I can load this page correctly with FireFox and Opera Browser. I also try the iMac 17" PowerPC in my office with the latest version Safari, it also load the album correctly. And I know this web is created and store in a Linux server, the web page coding not written or optimized to IE.
I've try to reinstall the whole OS X, nothing else installed, the same problem occurred.
Is it the problem on Intel core? or any setting I can do to overcome it?
Hope the problem could be solve, I like to use Safari except this problem.
iMac 20" Intel core   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

Well... no - except to ask if your intel imac is connected to the internet in exactly the same way as the ppc imac. If it is, then that's puzzling
You're right, I'm puzzled by the imac.
    Intel imac is at my home, ppc imac is at my office;
both using same ISP but different service plan,
(home:) PPPoE, ADSL modem -> buffalo MIMO wireless router -> intel imac (both direct wire or wireless connect have same result)
(office:) fixed-ip, ADSL modem -> firewall -> Linksys wireless router -> ppc imac (wireless)
both network setting with manual assigned IP, gateway and same DNS
Same result occurred when (1)open box new machine, (2)after updated system, (3)reinstall whole OS with preserve the old setting, (4)reinstall whole OS with erase the whole harddisk option, (5)updated system after the reinstallation.
I firstly think may be some security setting in imac that blocked the images, but can't found out. I secondly think some html code at this web not work on Safari.
May someone with same machine help to open this web to see if all intel imac get the same result?

  • I have recently upgraded my mac and ipad to IOS7 and find that Safari will not load onto my iPad. It just shuts down the app. Any ideas? I have been onto Mac who took me through a very long iPad robot, but the problem is still the same! Help appreciated

I have recently upgraded my mac and ipad to IOS7 and find that Safari will not load onto my iPad. It just shuts down the app. Any ideas? I have been onto Mac who took me through a very long iPad robot, but the problem is still the same! Help appreciated

Do you mean that you did a soft-reset ?
Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cookies And Data and also Clear History
If that doesn't fix it then try closing Safari via the iPad's multitaskingbar and see if it works when you re-open it :double-click the home button to open the taskbar and then swipe or drag the Safari app's 'screen' up and off the top of the screen to close it, and click the home button to close the taskbar.
After trying the above you could also do a soft-reset (even if this is what you've already done it might be worth trying after clearing Safari's cache and closing the app via the taskbar) : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Why can't bookmarks load in Safari? Is Yosemite the problem?

Recently, when I click on a bookmark, Safari begins to load but then stops. Why? I now use Google Chrome. What's going on?

  • Safari 5 wont load!

So here's my problem... I am fixing my friend's computer because her Safari web browser is having problems. What's going on is that whenever she opens Safari after a restart or clean boot, it runs fine; opens web pages, loads everything, nothing wrong. But when she closes it, it keeps running in the background using 100 percent CPU and about 50 megabytes of RAM. The only way to open Safari again is by ending its process in task manager.... so far you see, it's unacceptable, especially for her (she's the type who knows nothing about computers and she just wants it to "work".
Here's what I've done to try to fix it myself:
Uninstall/Reinstall Safari (latest version from Apple)
Run a registry/junk cleaner (CCleaner, Auslogics, Advanced System Care Pro)
Run a thorough disk check (all five stages)
All of these things have not changed the behavior of Safari.
    Here's her computer specs:
    HP Pavilion dv8315nr Laptop
1 GB Ram (I'm upgrading to 2 GB for her tomorrow)
Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, 100GB HD, ATI Radeon XPress 3200 (i think... I don't have the computer with me currently)
Microsoft Security Essentials (antivirus, antispyware)+Windows Firewall
Drivers and software/patches/updates are all up to date
And please, do not tell me to switch browsers. This is the only browser that she will use, mostly because all 400 bookmarks of hers are on there, and this is the only browser she knows how to use. She refuses to switch (I've recommended Firefox, Chrome, Opera, and even IE, but no.)
Perhaps there's a conflicting service or program on her computer? But I can't find anything that might be conflicting with it.... As far as I know, nothing has changed on her computer since I last worked on it about 4 weeks ago, and she hasn't complained until today.
I will be working on her laptop again tomorrow, so hopefully someone with an answer will come along and see my question... Because last resort will maybe be either a full restore or a painstaking browser change...
Anything will help, any suggestions or ANYTHING would do. Thanks in advance!

Just pushing the red X should just quit the program, window and it's process altogether
Closing all open windows should end the process in XP and Vista too, as well as 7.
If you've got a chance, try checking to see if the effect is user account specific or systemwide. (This isn't a cure in itself, but can help us narrow in on possibilities and rule out some others.)
Create a new Windows User Account with full administrative rights. Log out of your usual account, and log into the new one. (Don't use fast user switching to move between accounts.)
Try launching and quitting Safari in the new account. Does Safari.exe end smoothly after the quit in there? Or is it the same sort of behavior as in the usual account.)

  • Safari does not load frames triggered from within other frames?

I am a new to Safari and I like the browser very much. I have run into a nasty problem though, that I was unaware of earlier on when using other browsers.
Some time ago, I made a website that makes extensive use of frames. The index page is actually a frameset page that loads information into the main frame. Through a basic JavaScript in this main frame, additional information is loaded into other frames on the frameset page. Whenever the user hits a link in the main frame, the JavaScript updates the other frames.
This has always worked fine in Netscape, Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera, both on the Mac and Windows platforms. BUT not in Safari.
Can anybody help me out? What am I doing wrong that Safari refuses to execute what other browsers seem to accept as normal?
I removed the actual site temporarily, as I don’t want to block off Safari users. Yet I created a very basic mini-site that may explain the problem. This mini-site can be accessed at:
    thttp://www.chem.kuleuven.be/safety/grrrrh/start.html
Try it out with any of the mentioned browsers and then with Safari and you will see what I mean. To access the code, use one of the other browsers and download the frameset page completely. All 5 documents are truly basic and therefor very short. They only show the principle, no whistles, no bells.
If this kind of question would not belong to this forum, can anyone point me to one that deals with this type of problems?
    Tx fpr helping me out.
    PowermacG5   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   Safari 2.0.3

    Dear Tom & Andy,
thanks for taking the time to look into my problem.
I didn't know Safari is really picky on code, so will remember that for the future. Tx for the suggestion, Tom.
But things are getting even weirder!
First of all to set things straight, I am on the same versions of Safari and Firefox as the both of you and tested the minisite in Netscape 7 & 8, IE 5 (Mac) & 6 (Wintel) and Opera 8. As I stated eearlier, none of these have trouble reading and interpreting the "messy" code in www......start.html. Only Safari had.
But when I access my minisite now via the Internet, Safari renders all frames OK. I can see grey, yellow and pink frames with text, as it should be. So now I see what you see also, Tom. The previous problem, as you obviouslyencountered also, Andy, has mysteriously disappeared. Strange.
Adding insult to injury, when I download all five files from the minisite (start.html, main.htm, nav.htm, banner.htm & Frames.js) and put these in a folder on my local disk, the problem resurfaces again when I click start.html.
Adding a DOCTYPE statement to the start.html file on my hard disk does not help either.
Firefox and the other browsers mentioned still do a perfect job rendering the framepage from the downloaded content irrespective of whether the DOCTYPE statement is present or not. Only Safari refuses.
The only difference I can see between the www....start.html filee and the one from my hard disk is the way I access them: via http or straight by double-clicking.
I am still (and even more) puzzled.

  • Safari won't load Moodle.

My macbook will load moodle.org, but will not load my school's specific moodle website. I've tried it on Safari, Chrome, and Firefox and it just will not load. However, my PC notebook loads it no problem. I've tried it on my friend's Wi-Fi and the macbook loaded it loaded fine but refuses to load on my Wi-Fi, but still my PC loads on both Wi-Fi's. Help me out because I really do not want to have to do my schoolwork on the PC. My mac has never had any problems like this and is super fast; when i send the url it begins to load and the screen changes as if it's going to load the new page but the loading bar shoots up to just under halfway and then suddenly stalls, and won't move from there.
Here is the url I'm trying to access-<http://moodle2.monet.k12.ca.us>

Hi Robert and welcome to Apple Discussions...
    Try deleting the website cookies.
From the Safari Menu Bar click Safari/Preferences then select the Security tab. Now click: "Show Cookies". Delete all the cookies related to that site and click Done.
    Relaunch Safari.
It would probably help also to empty the Safari cache. You can do that from the Menu Bar, click Safari/Empty Cache.
Relaunch Safari and try accessing that site.

  • Safari slow to load after upgrading to 10.10.2

Ever since upgrading my brand new Mac to 10.10.2, Safari has been exceedingly slow to load -- sometimes refusing to load, altogether.  Any help with this?

Please answer as many of the following questions as you can. You may already have answered some of them. In that case, there's no need to repeat the answers.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Have you restarted your router and your broadband device (if they're separate) since you first noticed the problem? If not, do that now and see whether there's any change.
If your browser is Safari, then from the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
and confirm. If the Downloads button (with the icon of a downward-pointing arrow) is showing in the toolbar, click it and then click Clear in the box that appears. The download history will be removed. Any change?
If you're running OS X 10.9 or later, select the Advanced tab in the Preferences window and uncheck the box marked
              Stop plug-ins to save power
    Any change?
Quit and relaunch the browser. Any change?
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
Are any other web browsers installed, and are they the same? What about other Internet applications, such as iTunes and the App Store?
If other browsers and Internet applications are also affected, follow these instructions and test. Any change?
If Parental Controls is active for any user, please turn it off and test. Any change?
If only Safari is affected, launch the Activity Monitor application and enter "web" (without the quotes) in the search box. If a process named "Safari Web Content" is shown in red or is using more than about 5% of a CPU, select it and force it to quit by clicking the X or Quit Process button in the toolbar of the window. There may be more than one such process. Any improvement?
Follow the instructions in this support article. Any change?
Open the iCloud preference pane and uncheck the boxes marked Safari and Photos, if they're checked. Any change?
Are there any other devices on the same network that can browse the Web, and are they affected?
If you can test Safari on another network, is it the same there?
If you connect to your router with Wi-Fi and you can also connect with Ethernet, do that and turn off Wi-Fi. Any difference?
