Safari RSS like Firefox

I wish that Safari RSS behaved like Firefox. I feel that Safari RSS is sort of redundant and not informative, as clicking it takes you to a new page of the RSS clips. I might as well just go to the website itself. Also the # of new feeds is irrelevant for most people. The point of RSS is get snippets quickly and easily, which I feel Firefox accomplishes. While I'm waiting for a webpage to load, I can quickly glance at the Firefox RSS feeds, without interrupting the webpage load. Hope this is incorporated, at least as an option in Preferences for those who want it.

I don't use Apple newsreaders for RSS feeds. At the moment I use NetNewsWire and I see they have a lite version that is free on the App Store. There are other ones out there. I started of with Vienna when I first moved to Mac's but found it really slow.
Just my 2 cents worth, if it's worth 2 cents.

Mavericks Safari RSS Problem

Opening Safari RSS reader Firefox opens and multiple tabs continue to open a a rapid rate...I have to force quit Firefox. I have Safai as my default browser in preferences.

Errr... well.... solved!! I think.
I chose "all" from the list of feeds on the lower right of the page, and there they are. I think I've set it to remove all feeds after 1 day or so and the selected feed has not updated in the day and that may be why none were showing...!
I hope this proves helpful for someone else.

Why can't Safari be like the others?

Why oh why can't Safari be like Firefox who allows you to organize or view your bookmarks by name or jazz up your toolbar? These are such little things in the grand scheme of browser design. Don't they know that Mac users are colorful and creative and would really really really like a little help getting organized? Why should I be forced to use another browser simply because I want these simple features? Come on Apple, meet the competition - I'm feeling punished for my loyalty!

I'm suspecting that maybe you were hoping for that really cool import bookmarks feature that FF has. I Iike that myself. 'POOF' it's done! But I don't like it enough to use FF as my main browser. Mulder was right... it really depends on what you want out of it. And as I told you before, I like it clean and simple.
BUT, if you want bookmarks in Safari, it's really no big deal. Trust me, I set these up my first week of ever using any computer... so I'm pretty sure you can do it.
My suggestion for setting up Bookmarks would be:
1.) Decide how you want to categorize your bookmark 'headers' in the bookmarks bar. I do mine by subject: Restaurants, Tickets, Banking and so on. This makes it easier when you add a bookmark, and is more conducive to looking for one later, if you have alot of them as I do.
2.) Go to Bookmarks in the Safari menu bar and click on 'Show All Bookmarks'. Proceed to make the folders you'll need with your header titles on them by using the '+ add folder' button at the bottom of the left hand column. Make them all.
3.) Once your done, proceed to drag each folder to the column on the right, starting at the top, and in the order you want them on your Bookmarks Bar. The top will show as the left side of your BM bar and so on to the right. I do mine alphabetically. You may choose to do it by favorites or most frequently visited, whatever. As you drag each folder to the right column in the order you want, it is automatically placed on your BM bar. Now all you have to do is add bookmarks.
I've checked FF and there is no export feature to Safari (only import, nice trick :o) So, you can add your bookmarks by just visiting your sites and then 'add bookmark' then all you have to do is choose which (already waiting) folder to place it in. Really easy. And I've got loads of bookmarks!
So.... if you decide you want to try Safari for a bit and see if you like it, I hope this helps a little.

RSS Feeds in list form like Firefox Live Bookmarks

Is it possible to have RSS feeds in safari like Firefox's Live Bookmarks, how it shows every article posted on a website!??! please help!!

Safari... the best browser in the world... that lacks Firefox's Live Bookmarks feature from what... 2003?

After updating on my mac - I cannot open various password protected pages - like my WordPress site. I can open them from Safari and from Firefox on my windows pc.

after updating firefox , it won't allow input of password on various sites - like my wordpress admin page. I can access this page from safari and from firefox on my windows pc.

I cannot open password protected WordPress pages using Firefox. They open using IE
If I remove the password protection the page opens correctly in FF.
I have cleared the FF cache and cookies several times, No change
I have modified the wp-pass.php file several suggested ways related to the referrer and nothing solves the issue.

Unfortunately, Safari cannot be updated past 5.1.10 on a Mac running v10.6.8.
So, the options are to upgrade to a newer OS X or use Firefox or Chrome.

See if your Mac can run v10.9 Mavericks > OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
If so, you can download and install Mavericks for free from the App Store.

Wish Safari was a bit more like Firefox...

I mean when I need to work on bookmarks, can't it open the 'show all bookmarks' window in a page I'm not looking at on the web? Ok, I can do that by holding command down but honest, would it be so hard to have it open up into a new page or tab automatically?
And what about the possibility of breaking the bookmarks flyout into sections like I can do with Firefox...I'm talking about just the ability to put in some dotted lines between bookmark folders that appear in the book marks menu and bar...is there a way to do that that I'm not aware of? This way I can say divide folders with bookmarks for music related links into a section, art related links into another...just a visual divider so the bookmarks menu isn't one long gigantic list of folders...
okokok, maybe i'm asking for too much...forgive this wild charade, i'll try not to let it happen again...

Oh, one other thing...I also wish Safari was more like Firefox in how it handles color...I rarely use Safari these days cause I'm using a wide gamut monitor and having these neon greens and reds all over is quite hard on the eyes...
I've read about how Safari is color managed, I just don't think it works as well as the Firefox has color managed its browser...
I'd love to go back to using Safari a bit more...maybe Mr. Jobs can put a word in for me?...

Sync Safari like firefox or Chrome iCloud

anyone knows how can i sync Safari's Bookmarks, Settings etc just like Firefox, Chrome or other browsers?

There are other browsers such as iCab Mobile, that come very close to using a desktop browser. iCab Mobile has tons of features, including the thumbnail views that went by the wayside in Safari and you can identify the browser as IE, Firefox, Opera, Safari and more.
I use iCab Mobile identified as Firefox 4.0 for Mac and I love it.
Its not exactly like using the desktop version of a browser, but it's as close as I have seen that you can get on the iPad. There are a couple of other feature richer browsers than Safari - Atomic and Mercury are two more that I know of. Check out all three of those browsers and see what you think.

How do I use Safari RSS?

I have RSS in Mail and it is straightforward. Just click on one of the folders. Subscribing to a site is easy also since a window will come up with 'subscribe in Mail' as a choice on the site I am subscribing to. I have not noticed one for Safari. I explored Safari and the only page I could find for RSS is in the bookmarks list that comes up after clicking the open book on the toolbar. I do not want to use Safari RSS if it does not have a listing of all new RSS's that come in daily. I would like to transfer all the Mail RSS's to Safari if Safari has as handy a page. I could not find a real explanation about Safari RSS in support.

Thank you for the reply. I wanted to wait awhile in order to ensure that this corrected the issue. For a brief while, it did! However, it did not take long before the screen began once again hijacking my home button presses. This occurs even with Firefox removed from default applications ( triple-checked ).
This never happened before version 35.

Adobe Interactive Forms with Browser Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox

Hi Experts,
We have a requirement to implement HCM P&F using Adobe Interactive Forms. These Adobe Forms will be accessed using Browser Apple Safari and Mozilla Firefox. I have come across that the Adobe Interactive Forms are not supported on these browsers. In the same regard I have also gone through the Product Availability Matrix by SAP which specifies that Forms are not support on these browser and neither SAP has future plans to support them.

Mozilla Firefox is supported for Adobe Interactive Forms on Windows operation system.
Unfortunatelly we do not have support for Mac OS and Safari browser.
Please re-check the PAM.

After update to OS X Mavericks Safari, Chrome and Firefox stop to reproduce videos

After updagre the OS to 10.9 Mavericks, all the browser that I have installed on it(Safari, Chrome and Firefox), stop to reproduce videos.

I am trying other solutions today.
It can not change to another wifi network without switch off the wifi.
That's mean I have switch off and re-open the wifi signal every time when it show like this capture.
I waiting for more than 5 mins and it will search another wifi network automatically but it still "No internet connect".
My MacBook Pro is no any WiFi issues.

--uninstalle completely and re-installed.
--disabled add-on.
--disable "use Hardware accleration".
--set value for cacheused under "about:config".

Safari RSS starts, then immediately stops!

Brand new PowerBook (running 10.4.2 w/all updates); copied contents of my previous PowerBook using Migration Assistant; when I try to launch Safari RSS it begins to launch but immediately closes, giving me a report form to send to Apple.
I've been using Firefox, but thought I'd give Safari RSS another chance on this new machine. Any suggestions?

There are so many things that can give this behaviour.
• Dirt in Camera (cleaning tape ?)
• Bad tape with lot's of drop-outs
• Bad FW-Cable
• low free space on internal (start-up) hard disk
• untidy hard disk (Apple Disk Util tool)
• error in pref file - delete and iMovie makes a new OK one
• iMovie in PAL-mode and Your Camera in NTSC
• tape recorded in LP-mode (90min on 65min tape) - Don't - but use SP
See - lot's of guessings
Exclude those and please report back on progress.
