Safari's flash player, java and bookmarks...

Hello, i've been using safari since i switched to mac, and it's definitely much better browser than firefox, at least for me, but so far i've faced several problems, i'd be thankful for a solutions:
1- The latest Flash Player, which i have downloaded for my Intel Mac, but still some sites gives me errors like this:
http://www.belkin.com/apple/matrix/index.asp?cid=1&lid=1&dock=y
2- The java problem, or perhaps the lack. which i only faced with this site, I'm not sure if i am lacking some plugins or it's just that site not compatible with Safari:
http://www.aramex.com/shopandship/
the java problem is after you login, which may not be a good checkable site
i'd like to rise another issue, about the bookmarks it's all good with the fantastic search ability, but why i cannot create some subfolders like firefox?
if there's any suggestion about that, it would be great
Thanks in advance.

As far as the bookmarks go, if you choose Show All Bookmarks from the Bookmarks menu in Safari, it will take you to all your bookmarks. From the Collections list click one to select it. The contents of the collection should be displayed to the right. Click the triangle next to a folder to display its contents. The folder should still be highlighted. Choose Add Bookmark Folder from the Bookmarks menu and an untitled subfolder should be formed. You can name it and add bookmarks to it. Then choose Hide All Bookmarks from the Bookmarks menu.

Why do iPhones/iPad not support Flash Player/Java and what are my alternatives for browsing sites using these plug-ins?

There are also iSwifter, Photon, Skyfire, etc., some only support Flash some support Java and Flash.
Adobe never made a version of Flash for iOS and closed their mobile flash division a couple of years ago. You can get Flash on other personal devices but you will be using a 2 year old version that has not been patched for security vulnerabilities.
When the original iPhone was released Mr. Jobs said it would never run Java as it was old technology and a security risk. Nothing has changed since.

  • Need flash player 8 and java script enabled to play videos on ipad, need help please.

need flash player 8 and java script enabled on my ipad in order to view videos.  please help.

iPads do not directly support Flash.
You can look for Flash Browsers in the App store for some options to try. Support is not 100%, but maybe one may work for you.  Browsers like Puffin, Skyfire, Photon etc...
IPads do fully support JavaScript.  Just make sure its turned on under Settings->Safari->Advanced->JavaScript.
If you require Java, which is completely different to JavaScript, again there are some browsers in the App store that support it.  Search for "Java browsers" in the store.

  • How can I get serial numbers or the free versions of Adobe, Air, Flash Player 14, and Reader XI Pro

How can I get serial numbers or the free versions of Adobe, Air, Flash Player 14, and Reader XI Pro that I had installed on my computer before Microsoft crashed my computer and I had to do a fresh install? I finished reinstalling Win 8.1Pro on my computer thanks to Microsoft Lvl 1 Techies corrupting my Command Structure so nothing would work. I had recently taken a picture of my installed programs (control panel, uninstall programs list) so that I would be able to reinstall everything I needed. I can't seem to find an email for the Reader which I remember paying for, the others I believe were free installs. Can anyone help me out.

Safari Version 5.0.5  <  from your first post
5.0.5 is an outdated version of Safari.
There is an update available for Safari for version 5.1.1
    That may help.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen the click Software Update
Restart your Mac after the updates are installed.
    Try full screen ...
If you have problems using Software Update from the menu you can use the standalone installer here >  Safari 5.1.1

  • Do Flash Player runtime and AIR runtime work differently?

This question is asked as a follow up from a recent discussion, http://forums.adobe.com/message/6260447#6260447, regarding how getObjectsUnderPoint() works. The discussion was marked as correct as the answer provided by kglad was correct for the question asked.
But, the problem that led to that thread was not solved, as from the tests done, the issue was not from the method but from the runtimes. With the sample code given by kglad, the compiled swf file was working as intended by kglad. But the same code was not if compiled and packaged to AIR runtime.
Thus the question, do Flash Player runtime and AIR runtime work differently? Or again, that I simply missed out something?
    *Edit: Anyone with similiar experience?

I'm also using Safari 6.0.1 and I don't have this problem, so I doubt Safari's causing the problem.
Have you tried uninstalling flash completely and then reinstall? If you haven't, here's Adobe's instructions on how to do so: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html
Once you've uninstalled it, try redownloading and reinstalling again: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

  • Adobe flash Player 12 and Silverlight update

    Hi:
I recently updated to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (12) and Silverlight. Adobe is still saying it needs to be updated and won't let me run anything that needs it. My school e-mail uses the silverlight portion of this and crashes Safari.
    How do I fix this?

If you're sure you've installed the latest version of Flash, take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. After each step, relaunch Safari and test. For a "missing plug-in" error, start with Step 7. Back up all data before making any changes.
    Step 1
You might have to log out or reboot before a Flash update takes effect.
    Step 2
In the Safari preference window, select
Privacy ▹ Remove All Website Data
    Close the window. Then select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Delete All. Close the preference pane.
    Step 3
If you're only having trouble with YouTube videos, log in to YouTube and load this page. You may see a link with the text "Leave the HTML5 Trial." If so, click that link.
    Step 4
If you get a warning of a "blocked" or "outdated" plug-in, then from the menu bar select
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Advanced
and click Check Now. Quit and relaunch the browser.
If the warning persists, triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources
Right-click or control-click the highlighted text and select
    Services ▹ Open
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open. Inside it, there should be a file named "XProtect.meta.plist". If that file is missing and you know why it's missing, restore it from a backup or copy it from another Mac running the same version of OS X. Otherwise, reinstall OS X.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 5
Open this folder as in Step 4:
    /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
Delete the following item, or anything with a similar name, if present:
    Flash Player (failing).plugin
You may be prompted for your login password.
    Step 6
Re-download and reinstall Flash. Download it from the domain "get.adobe.com". Don't click a link from any other website, including this one, because you can't trust links. They may be an attempt to trick you into installing malware masquerading as Flash. Type the address into the browser window. Never download a Flash update from anywhere else.
    Step 7
If you get a "missing plug-in" error, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
from the Safari menu bar and check the box marked
    Allow (or Enable) plug-ins
    Then click the button marked
    Manage Website Settings...
if present and make sure that the website is not blocked for Flash.
    Step 8
    Select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
from the Safari menu bar. If any extensions are installed, disable them.

  • Flash Player installation and update questions and answers

How do I verify that I have the latest version of Flash Player?
If you receive a message that tells you that Flash Player is out of date or a new version of Flash Player is available, you can verify this by visiting the Flash Player Help page with your browser.
Simply click the "Check Now" button and you'll be presented with a short message and detailed information regarding your Flash Player installation.
Where should I download the latest version of Flash Player?
Because malware authors will often employ misleading tactics to make malware look like something you should trust, it's important to get your Flash Player updates directly from Adobe.
Please verify that your Flash Player downloads and updates come from only the adobe.com or macromedia.com domains.  You can always download the latest version of Flash Player directly from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer
I've selected the automatic update option in Flash Player, why do I continue to get update notifications?
Periodically, users are presented with the Flash Player update dialog notifying them that a new version of Flash Player is available for download from adobe.com.
The automatic update mechanism is used for some updates, security patches that address zero-day vulnerabilities and when users, who have selected to be updated automatically, have not updated within 45 days after a regularly scheduled update release of Flash Player.
What should I expect when I receive notification that Flash Player has an update available?
When a major update to Flash Player becomes available you will be presented with a Flash Player update dialog
After reviewing new features, pressing the Download button will open your default browser and load the Install Adobe Flash Player page.
Clicking the "Update now" or "Install Now" button will then take you to the next page which will start the download process and give instructions for completing the Flash Player install.
Finally, once the installation is complete your browser will display a page confirming a successful installation.
If you encounter installation problems, we recommend you review our Windows and Mac OS installation help documents. Further questions and information can be found on the Flash Player installation forums.
Why does Adobe Flash Player installer include the option to download additional software?
Adobe offsets the ongoing development costs of Flash Player, which is made available for free, by offering users the option to download select software from Adobe partners.
What options do I have when installing or updating Flash Player?
You have a few different options available when updating Flash Player. We recommend that you choose "Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)" when initially setting up Flash Player
or by going into the Flash Player control panel and choosing this option in the Advanced tab.
Once selected, most updates will occur in the background without requiring any interaction. For those regularly scheduled major update releases, you will be presented with an update notification dialog
If you decide not to update, you will receive an automatic update within 45 days if you have the "Allow Adobe to install updates" option selected. Please note that when this update occurs, only Flash Player will be installed.
If you want to be notified about every Flash Player update, select "Notify me to install updates" when initially installing Flash Player or from the Advanced tab in the Flash Player control panel.
Finally, if you'd prefer not to receive any updates, select "Never check for updates (not recommended)". We do not recommend this option as we believe keeping your system up to date improves both security and stability when using Flash Player.
For network Administrators we offer additional update options, including the ability to host your own internal Flash Player update server. Please see our Flash Player distribution page and Flash Player Administrator guide for details.

Sunil, I just want to verify you are pointing me to the link under "Progress bar hangs during download / Unable to connect to server / Unable to download metafile."
If yes, then that is the file I originally downloaded based on a March post I saw here.
I just tried it again, and it (by "it" I mean the Flash Player Plug-in (All other browsers from download.macromedia.com) installed 11.6.
After the installation process completed, the dialog box notified me it was version 11.6, and when I went back to, the "find version" page, 11.6 was confirmed.
I did not download the exe for Internet Explorer, as I almost never use that browser.

  • Do you need to use Actionscript 3 code in Flash player 9 and above?

Can anyone tell me if I need to use Actionscript 3 code instead of Actionscript 2 code in the following situation:
I am running a swf file which is contained in a browser window (all files are contained on a CD and I have a 'trust' file set up to let them play properly).  Up until now, I have been using the following Actionscript 2 code to close the browser window (the Actionscript 2 code is on an 'Exit' button within the swf):
    on (release) {
    getURL("javascript:window.close()");
This Actionscript 2 code has always worked and still works in Flash player 8 and lower.  However, it does nothing when played using Flash player 9.  Can anyone tell me if Flash player 9 won't recognize Actionscript 2 code?  Is it essential to use ONLY Actionscript 3 code if you are using Flash player 9?
I am having the same problem when I try to launch another html page containing a swf (popped up from the swf contained in the main html window).  I have the following code on the button to launch the popup html window.  It always worked, but suddenly no longer works with Flash player 9.  Here is the code I am using:
    on (release) {
                getURL("javascript:launchWin2('webpage2.html');");
I have all the necessary background code to launch 'webpage2.html'.  It works everywhere except in Flash player 9.  Can anyone tell me if it is essential to use Actionscript 3 code ONLY on these buttons in Flash player 9?  I am pretty new to Actionscript 3, so any help with syntax would be appreciated.
Please note that I don't want to use the projector.
    Thanks!

You can use both AS2 and AS3 based applications in both Flash 9 and 10.
As for the issues you describe - perhaps Flash General Forum is a better bet:

Hi Terry, A post is the message that anyone has just typed in. When you replied to me, that was your post. I am replying to you so this is my post. Think of it as sending an email or mailing a letter at the "post" office.
Now right at the top of the last post (message) you sent me is a Post#, then the date and time and under that the thread subject "Re: I am trying to download Adobe Flash Player 10 and I keep getting......
The first time that you posted, you described your problem. The next post after that is #1 and so on.
The Adobe Flash Player forum works very much like email except there are a lot of "threads". A thread is what each message you see is called. Everyone that registers can start their own thread (subject). Then other people see it and can post to your thread and try to help you with your problem.

Now do you feel somewhat more relaxed?  Hope so.
Take a look now and see if you can find the Post# and etc that I described above.

The problem is that Google has an onmousedown attribute added to the links that modify a link if you click or right-click a result link to make the link point to a safe browsing check on the Google server.<br />
You can see that if you hover a link and you will notice that after you have (right) click a link the the URL changes to www.google.com/url?xxxxx.
You can use this bookmarklet to remove the onmousedown attributes.
    <pre><nowiki>javascript:(function(){var e=document.querySelectorAll('*[id="search"] a[onmousedown]'),E,i;for(i=0;E=e[i];i++){E.removeAttribute('onmousedown')}})()</nowiki></pre>

  • Intermittant problems with Flash Player 7 and 8

    Good morning,
While "stress testing" a recent Captivate 2 generated quiz
lesson, one of our testers noticed some odd behavior. (Granted,
most students will not do the following actions, but I thought I'd
    mention it anyway.)
First let me add that we use a LMS and that this behavior
might have something to do with the LMS, but I suspect the problem
might be in how Flash Player 7 and 8 handle viewing a SWF file.
The tester would start the quiz, answer a few questions, then
close the session (before the conclusion of the quiz). The tester
(student) would then (through the LMS) go to the quiz/lesson link
and begin again. The Quiz behaviors are that the student can't go
back to any question they have already answered. In theory the
student would go back to the next unanswered question and continue
    with the quiz.
The first time this is done, everything appears to work well.
However, if the same student behavior is done again, when the
quiz/lesson is re-launched the student is taken to the very first
slide, not the one where they left off. If they go to the first
question slide they will find that it appears to be unanswered. The
student then tries to answer it and nothing happens, nore can the
student move to the next question. They are "stalled" and can go no
further. Any subsequent attempt to re-enter the quiz produces the
same effect. Additionally, if this is done without restarting the
computer the browser (Internet Explorer) will hang and they'll need
    to stop the process.
I found that in Captivate 2 you have 3 options for building a
solotion when you publish a project. You can publish using Flash
Player 6, 7 or 8. Only by selecting Flash Player 6 does this
behavior stop. The Flash Player 6 selection seems to work well.
Anyone else had problems with FlashPlayer 7 and 8?

Flash Player 11 sends the getServerVersion request in order to determine the capabilities of the Flash Access license server. If you are running a 2.0 server, it should return an HTTP 404 error, since it does not support this endpoint. The client understands that to mean it is communicating with a Flash Access 2.0 server, and will send the license request accordingly. In other words, the fact that your 2.0 server does not support getServerVersion should not cause the license acquisition to fail.
Is your server responding to the getServerVersion request with a 404? After the getServerVersion request arrives at your server, you should see another request asking for a license. In your server logs, do you see any errors in the license request processing?
