Safari - Save Passwords

I wish Safari on the iPhone would allow you to save passwords ... or alternatively, let the other browsers on the iPhone so they can do that instead.

  • How can I watch the save password in iPad3 safari ?

Hello all my apple friends. Please tell me how can I watch the save passwords in my iPad 3 safari.
I save my password in safari but I want to know how can I watch this password .
    Please suggest me .....

When you type a letter you can see that letter for a second and then it changes to the dot. That's how it works. I suggest writing the password down first.

  • How to get Safari to save passwords?

I went on a website for the first time and Safari asked me if I wanted it to save my username and password, but I accidentally said "never for this site" even though I now want it to save them. Is there a way to change this? I'm using an iPad with iOS7. Thanks!

    OK. Think I found it:
Settings app > Safari > Saved Passwords > Tap Edit > locate the site on teh list (it will sate "not saved" in the sub heading) > Tap the entry to select it (check mark) > tap Delete.
After this, when you return to the site and add the login credentials, you should be prompted to save it.
NOTE: Some sites explicitly prevent saving passwords.

  • Safari will not save passwords now

Safari on my MBPro will no longer (if it ever did) ask me if I want to save a new password once I enter it for a secure site.  I want that saved so I can use autofill.  I recently got my MacPro to do this for sites that do not want you to auto log on, but that is not working on my laptop.  What do I set to see the 'save password?' windowwhen I enter one for the first time?  You can not enter a mappword manually in the preferences.

Some websites direct the browser not to autofill login credentials. You can sometimes override that directive in Safari 7 or later by selecting
    Safari ▹ Preferences ▹ Passwords
from the menu bar and checking the box marked
Allow AutoFill even for websites that request passwords not be saved
Autofill may still not work on some sites.

  • Can Safari save name/password for secure sites?

I use several webmail links several times per day where I have to enter account name and passswords. These are long strings with lots of numbers and symbols. Lots of opportunity for typos.
Is there some way for Safari to save name/password for frequently visited sites?

There is an App called 1Password (paid) that does save passwords, etc. and will automatically enter them in its OWN browser but not Safari. Sorry to say, I have only read about it and not tried it - didn't like the idea that it was a separate browser. But unfortunately, how the OS works, Apple will not allow 3rd party apps to run in the Background, thus allowing the integration with Safari.
Hopefully Apple will address this in future versions. Something like the Keychain App in the Mac OS, that holds all you passwords, but I think they won't because it means that if you lose your phone and someone finds it, then they will have access to whatever you have password protected.

  • Safari won't save passwords

    Hello,
I noticed recently that Safari is not asking anymore to save passwords. It still uses the one I have in Keychain but doesn't see, to care about new one. In Safari  preferences under auto-fill, everything is checked. I tried to trash the preference file, verivy keychain but nothing work.
I use a Macbook pro with 10.7.4 and Safari 6.0
    Thanks for your help

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
    Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
*Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2.

It is the same in the latest version 7.0.2. You can shut off the saving and auto filling of passwords by clicking in the menu bar at the top Safari > Preferences and then select Autofill and uncheck the passwords box. Also check the next pane as well.

  • How can I save passwords for URL's

How can I save passwords for URL's? I just installed 10.6.7 Snow Leopard. I also had to format my HD drive and reinstall my software.

    Hi,
From the Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Autofill tab. Select the box next to:
    User names and passwords.
Navigate to a site you normally log into with the user name and password. Click Yes when prompted. That will save that information to a new keychain for you.
Passwords are actually stored in your Keychain Access application. (Applications/Utilities)

  • How to auto save passwords, How to auto save passwords

How to save passwords or where is the option for auto save password ??

go to settings>safari>passwords &auto fill and enable names and passwords
then when you open safari and when you enter the username and password for any login, it will give you an option to save the username and password.
once you do that, the next time you log in to same website it will autofill for you.
you can the see the list of websites that you have saved the username and password in
    settings>safari>passwords and autofill>saved passwords.

  • Safari autofill password never updates

I use Autofill on Safari (Version 7.0.6) and I've recently changed my password on one website I use regularly.
I am given the option of 'Do you want to update the saved password for "......"?' and I choose update password, but, ever since I am asked this for this one website every single time I go to it.
If I say 'Not Now', then the password that Autofill uses is incorrect, so I can't win. I have also tried deleting this site from Safari Preferences Passwords list, then entering my credentials on the site, and Safari asks if I want to Save the Password again and I do, but the same thing happens, every single time I go to the site it asks if I want to update the password. It's driving me nuts!
Does anyone now how I can update my password for this one site once and for all so Safari doesn't keep asking if I want to update it (Or, make it so it accepts the changes that I do update?)
    Thanks in advance.

Back up all data before proceeding.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select
              Change Settings for Keychain "login"
In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
    If the box marked
              Keep login keychain unlocked
    is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

You would have to run separate profiles.
