Safari says it's working but  doesn't seem to be connected

Hey All, I was using Safari last night and it was working fine and then it "lost it's connection".
Problem is that my computer says it's
Connected, but I can't use the Internet. I switched to a different network-same problem.
I tried resetting safari but that didn't work either.
Any ideas?

And your MBP is a 2.? GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
with ? GB of ram.
Then you can take all that good info and click on My Settings---------------->
and fill it in so everyone knows what you got and don't have to ask.

  • Sshd is running but doesn't seem to accept connections

    Hey guys
    I'm setting up a new machine which serves as a gateway for my private network.  I have iptables set up and ip forwarding is working correctly.  I can't seem to connect to this machine via ssh.  This might be something I did incorrectly with my iptables rules, but I can't find the problem with them myself.  Whether I try from inside or outside of my network, I get the error:

    You're right, it is a slight risk.  However, I need to be able to access this machine from anywhere, so I can't restrict sshd to a particular range of IP addresses.  I've seen a way to set up sshd so that it will reject a certain IP address after so many failed login attempts. I'll probably use either that or port knocking eventually, but for now I at least have it set up and working properly.  Thanks again

    It's probably looking for the Apple ID & Password you used to purchase Lion, or ML as the case may be.

  • My iphone 6 connects to the car via bluetooth, the music works good, but the phone calles does not work.  It looks like it is working but doesn't.  I have tried in my Hyundai and a Dodge rent car and get the same results.  I updated the last 8.0.2.

    Now when i get in the car, it acts like it is connected and makes the same call it was on after syncing to bluetooth, but it really isn't on a call.  This is happening on both cars.
    Does anyone know if this is the phone and i need to take it to Apple or if there is an issue that Apple is working on getting a fix for?
    My son in law has the exact same phone as me, we both got the on 10/6, he had a Dodge Dart and his is working via bluetooth.
    Someone HELP please, as i consider this a safety issue by not having my calls go to bluetooth.

    We had the same problem, but figure out the solution.
    You MUST have at least 1 song added to your ITUNE!  After you add a free song, then everything else should work as normal!

    You should be able to invert in Lightroom. But choose the point curve rather than the region curve. If the negative is film you might get better results from scanning.

    Check your Mail rules and filtering, the verification mail may be going to a junk folder or even being deleted altogether. You may also wish to contact your mail provider to see if their spam filters are removing the email before it gets to you.

    I admit, it's been awhile since I synchronized.  Just did so, and all appeared right with the world, the handheld made the appropriate noises and showed the appropriate actions and same on the computer (XP, connect as always have through USB).  In other words, they appeared to "talk" and said they were synchronizing.  But my data (like important calendar entries) is simply not there.  Nothing.  Nada.  Nothing recently added.
    I tried repeating it several times.  Yes, I have the system set up so that desktop overrides handheld.  So what's up?  Used this a lot in the past, never had this happen.

    I'm having the same problem though not with the exact same components. I have a Palm Z22 and Windows Vista--things were going great until a few days ago when I noticed that the palm weren't connecting. The Hotsync process proceeds normally, there are no problems noted in the hotsync log, and yet things do not travel from the computer to the palm and vice versa. I've tried pretty much everything: I know the palm is connected to the desktop, not Outlook; I have tried soft and hard resets; I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software multiple times; I know the username is correct.
    I suspect the problem has something to do with Vista; when I restored my computer to a previous time it started working fine but this morning it stopped again. The computer may be automatically updating in a way that is preventing the Palm Desktop software (verson 4.2) from working. Version 6.2 seems to work but I really hate it--there's no color schemes or categories. If someone could help me out with this I would really, really appreciate it.

    Agree with Richard:
    -Your device needs both the CR and LF. To accomplish this:
    option 1: Concatenate the "end of line" string constant (this is a combination of CR and LF, located in the string pallete) to all your outgoing commands. Make sure in the "Visa configure serial port" the "Termination character enable" flag is false.
    option 2: Concatenate only a CR to your command's strings. Make sure in the "Visa configure serial port" the "Termination character enable" flag is TRUE AND that the termination character is set to 10 (meaning LF) which I think is the default.

    Interesting would be to configure the serial port to accept not one but two termination characters. The above links refers to the document "Developer Zone Tutorial: Termination Characters in NI-VISA.", where this is supposed to be possible. The document however is 404'ed.

    I just bought an ipad mini with retina display. On my settings page it shows an update occurring for ios.7.0.4 with the message "Estimating time remaining..."
    This update and message appeared last evening but doesn't seem to complete. It also says "downloading", but nothing is happening.
    How can I complete the download or eliminate it?

    If it's slow on startup it would be extensions loading or LaunchDaemons starting up. 
    You should have a look in:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    /Library/Extensions
    You can count out anything in your home folder and it shouldn't put anything in /System as that's reserved for Apple.

  • Scan works, print says it works but doesn't

    Hi all! Everyone seems to have the opposite problem - wireless printing works but scan doesn't. Not me! I can choose "scan" from my printer OR computer interface and it starts right up. Problem is, when I go to print it goes through the "printing" screen then says "print job complete" (no hangups or errors or something in the print queue to delete - it's in the queue then it disappears as though printed), but...no business results on the printer end!
    Before you ask, yes the printer works (can print from SD card inserted directly to printer, or from old computer connected via network). Yes I have turned everything off and back on. Yes I tried downloading the HP print & scan doctor, and it says everything is fine, sees ink levels etc, but its test page behaves the same as any other print job. Yes I have deleted the whole HP shebang and re-downloaded and re-searched/connected my computer via the wireless network. And, as aforementioned, it scans. Oh, and tells me my ink levels! So clearly there is communication, just not for this. What weird sub-setting am I missing?
    And also, if you can resolve this, can you give me an idea whether it is suddenly going to start printing the 80 pages or so that I've tried to beam over, so I can stop it? : )

    Please try bypassing the spooler to see if you can print directly to the printer.
    1. Click on start and go to devices and printers.
    2. Right click on  the printer and click on printer properties.
    3. Choose the option "Print directly to the printer".
    4. Click apply and then ok.
    If this works follow the next steps and try to print again.
    Hold down the Windows Logo key () on the keyboard and the 'R' to open the run box
    Type services.msc and press Enter
    Locate Print Spooler and double click on it to open the Spooler properties 
    Make sure startup type is set to Automatic, if it is not please click on the drop down and choose Automatic
    Under Service status, please Stop the server, and then wait a moment and click Start
    If bypassing the spooler does not result in a successful print, let me know.
    Also, what printer model do you have?  How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
    Are you getting any error message, or does a blank page print? The more detail I have the better

  • Entering Registration Code for Quicktime acts like it works but doesn't actually

    I've read a lot of these quicktime troubleshooting steps and support Q&A but can't seem to get Pro to unlock.  I have verified that I am typing correctly in both the Registered To and Registration Code fields on the register. 
    When I hit Apply it produces a line of text that says QuickTime 7 Pro, but that's it.
    When I hit okay and try to use some of the QT Pro functionality, say file>New Player it still acts like I don't have Pro. if I click About QuickTime it doesn't says 7.7.1 not pro
    So heres what I have tried so far.  Restarting Quicktime.  Restarting the Computer.  Uninstalling Quicktime Restarting the computer and Reinstalling Quicktime and trying to register again.
    The problem still pursists. I have purchased the Windows Version, am running Windows 7, and have the latest version of quicktime.  I don't mind re-doing any of these steps if it will help troubleshoot this problem. What would you suggest to ensure that I can upgrade to QT Pro successfully?

    That's all you get. There is no other confirmation.

    It won't say "pro" anywhere other than a small "Pro" tag on the QuickTime "Q" logo. If the Pro labels disappeared from the commands and they're no longer greyed out, the key was correctly registered.
    If "New Player" doesn't work, something else is amiss. First, confirm that the new player isn't just hiding behind an existing one or other window. If that's definitely not the case, do any of the other Pro functions such as Export work? Or are all of the functions not working?

  • When I cllick on my device(ipod) in itunes, i do not get any menu items.  I am trying to sync my ipod.  It says it is synching but doesn't.

    Using Windows 8, recently installed Itunes 11.  Just tried to download a cd and synch it to Ipod and it doesn't work.  I clicked on my device (ipod) in Itunes and didn't get any menu choices.  How do I synch music from itunes to ipod?  Also, music purchased that was on ipod is still on ipod but not on the computer.  How do I get purchased songs on the computer?

    Sync works the same way it always has, connect the device, select the content desired to sync and sync.
    All the media should be in iTunes already, iDevices are not and have never been backup devices.
    If this is a new computer, move the content from the old computer to the new computer.

  • MacBook water spill - works but doesn't charge. Apple doesn't do partial repairs?

    I spilled some water on my MacBook Pro (15in retina).
    I let it dry for a couple of days then powered it. It worked.
    When the battery got to 0%, I plugged the MacSafe and it didn't charge. It sometimes charges, but intermittently. It charges very rarely.
    I brought the laptop to the Apple Store, and they said that it would cost $2000 to repair, because they want to replace EVERY parts that were water stained.
    I only want to change the Adapter Port, and POSSIBLY the Logic Board IF changing the Adapter Port didn't fix the charging issue. Knowing the above, it will most likely work, but if it doesn't, that's OK, I'll buy a new one. I'd rather risk $3-400 by doing this and buying a new Macbook IF it fails, than paying 2K for a repair straight away.
    Of course my laptop could break eventually if not all parts are replaced, but that's fine (I was able to wash some water stains with alcohol already).
    Why doesn't Apple simply change the parts that must be changed, letting the customer take a risk or whatever if he wants so?
    IMO -- Terrible policy that must be reviewed.
