My safari screen blanks out in certain spaces.  The graphics on the webpage will disappear and reappear when I hover the mouse over them?  Do I have a virus?

Unless you are doing this in Windows the best way to get an answer would be to go to the iMac support area. Click on the Support Communities.
If you have an older one then go to the front page and click on Support and select the one you have.
With what little information you gave a guess would be your video card may be going out? Zap the PRAM and reset the SMC? The User Guide on how to do it is also there.
As far as the e-mail notifications I couldn't tell you.

  • Unable to Zoom out when in "Help Topic"

    I'm using MacBook Pro 10.6.2.
I am able to zoom in by pressing Command plus "=" but once I zoom in I can not zoom out. This seems to only happen when I'm using "Help". I tried pressing Command "-" but doesn't work. I can not use the two fingers to zoom in nor out.
I do not have any problems in Safari.
This seems to only happen using the "Help Topic". Weird thing is, after waiting a few minutes, I would press Command "=" and the page would reset to actual size. I can zoom in to max and it would stop. Then wait a few minutes and reopen "Help Topic" and if I'm lucky the zoom in would reset to screen to actual size.
I believe this may a bug. Is there any fix?

It doesn't happen here, so either I'm not understanding correctly what you're doing (I'm assuming that this is in Safari, from your Safari comment, and that 'using the "Help Topic"' means that you have the Safari help window open) or it's a problem unique to your machine.

  • Google maps don't display right, part is good but about half of it says "we are sorry, but we don't have maps at this zoom level for this region." Zooming out doesn't help.

When displaying a Google map I get about four vertical strips that alternately display good and in gray bands. The gray area displays the message "we are sorry, but we don't have maps at this zoom level for this region." Zooming out doesn't get rid of the gray areas.
I've had this problem for over a year and get around it by using either MS Internet Explorer or Google Chrome which work Ok. Otherwise Firefox works fine and I use it for everything else except Google Maps.
I've tried an uninstall of FireFox and then reinstall but it didn't help. I don't remember what I was doing when this problem first showed up.

    You're welcome

  • Smart Zoom Problem? Safari keeps zooming OUT.

Since upgrading to Mountain Lion, I've had a problem with Smart Zoom. Using a Magic Mouse, I'm aware that it's a double tap to zoom in and another to zoom out. I actually like this feature and use it frequently enough that I don't want to have to turn it off to solve my problem.
The issue is that pages seemingly randomly zoom OUT and the text becomes very small. I do not know what gesture is doing this and it happens ALL the time. If I double tap, it zooms in, but it is the enlarged zoom in, as if I had done it from the normal text size. I have to hit cmd+0 to get it back to normal. It's become very annoying and I can't seem to find any info on it; everything out there is about zooming in, not out.
    Thanks.
    Safari 6.0
    OS X 10.8.0

This is a definitely a problem and I've now not only noticed it happen on 2 macs but actually waited and monitored until I finally observed it happening WITHOUT ANY MOUSE CONTACT. Having now witnessed it in two different locations with two macs and two mice, it certainly isn't absent-minded tapping!!
I wonder if the mice have a static problem or are just oversensitive even to something coming near.
And btw this only started when I on one occasion upgraded to and on another bought Mountain Lion. It's quite random.

  • I'm having problems with the screen zooming out, extra large font, to the point of not being able to put in my access code or getting to settings.  What is wrong?

My screen chooses to zoom out, out of the blue to the point that I can't access anything. It also does not respond to trying to shrink the screen with my hand motion.

Double tap the screen with three fingers to turn off zoom. If that doesn't work try a reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons 10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Release both buttons. Wait 15-20 seconds till your iPad starts on it's own.  Then go to settings> general> accessibility> zoom> off.

  • Safari screen grayed out and doesn't function. Help.

Suddenly, the Safari browser stopped working. The screen appears grayed out and touching buttons in the Safari content area doesn't do anything. The search and address windows work and new pages load, but they don't function. The back and forward and other buttons also don't work.
I haven't changed anything (that I know about)since the last time everything worked a few minutes ago.
    TIA for your help.

Have you tried resetting the iPad?
reset iPad. Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the
Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • Safari screen closing out

Hope someone can help with an easy solution. All the time while surfing the net using safari my screen turns black and safari closes completely. Any suggestions. Thank you!

    Try A and B
    (A) Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data.
    (B) Close all apps in the Task Bar. Double-click the Home button and hold apps down for a second or two. Tap the minus sign to close app.
Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down until you see the Apple Logo.

  • Touch screen Zoomed out totally and is almost frozen.

Tried switching off, reset, restore via i-tunes etc..
    Who can help me?

Happened to me with both unintended 3 finger taps (zoom) and 3x homebutton (negative)
These useless 'quick buttons' are VERY annoying (2 unitended taps with 3 fingers or 3 unintended clicks with the home button etc.)
Maybe we have people around us that know these tricks, and play games with us, but ....I already restored my phone twice for a perceived VIRUS.
1st time all remained in photo negative (press home button 3 x which I did not know). Lost all my data and the iPhone remained in negative until someone gave me the 'code' to resolve this. (Really looks like something is wroing: who would want 'negative' as a homebutton feature...?)
Then this 'unresolvable' zoom occured today which made me sick and restore. Until I read this forum.
Apple used to be the ultimate 'user friendly' 'foolproof' company, and we all might be fools, but who the **** would want to have a MEGA zoom feature that disallows any operation of your phone and remains even after a restart?!
    APPLE:
PLEASE TAKE THESE 'SHORTCUT ACTIVATION' FEATURES OUT of the primary interface
and make many unintended users happy!!
And if they need to be there, put them in the 'settings' menu, because just look at the Forums and draw your own conclusions !!

  • Problems with safari screen grayed out unable to load pages from search

Using IPAD last night and did a google search and google suggestions dialog box remains open along with keyboard, does not allow me to select any search results as the page is grayed out. When I try to select a new page, bookmarks of the back arrow I get NO RESPONSE. Thought the IPAD I charged it last night with same results this AM. Any suggestions!
    Natoulia

Some websites do this but I have found that the iPad is not frozen, it's just the way the website is (poorly) designed and you just need to scroll ALL THE WAY UP to see the page results. Verizon is one such culprit with their site. Try it, I bet it works

my safari screen is greyed out, I checked and found a response to this question.  I went to settings and cleared history, cookies, and cache, java script is on and I restarted, screen is still grey, cant touch it to do a thing.  Help!

That is usually the fix but try this now.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. See if that helps.
You can also try this - quit Safari. From the home screen - Double tap the home button and your recent apps appear the bottom. Tap and hold down on the Safari icon until it wiggles. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the app. Tap the home button twice. Restart the iPad.

  • Need help with screen zoom please

I just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. When I had the old Tiger software installed, I was able to zoom in and out on my screen by holding down the Control key while scrolling with my mouse. But since I installed Leopard (not Snow Leopard, since I am using a G5 Tower PowerPC), this key combination no longer works. This former screen zoom feature is important to me because I am a graphic designer with a neurological condition (tremors in my hands) that makes selecting fine points in graphic applications (like Illustrator) difficult unless I zoom in to make selection points larger and more manageable. Note: using Illustrator's magnifying glass feature does not help me, because the select points still stay small when I magnify and image, but using the old screen zoom method made the points larger and easier for me to select. Can anyone help me?
F.Y.I. I also updated my trackball drivers as well, but my trackball preference settings did not change.

Thanks for your input. I hear what you are saying. I have found a couple of applications that worked better with my old Tiger system than with Leopard. When I contacted the developers of these mis-behaving apps, I learned that while Intel machines seem to have no problem with their app's Leopard updates, they do report problems with those of us who still use our old big honking tower PPC's. Maybe that is what I am experiencing here.
