Vertical Scroll bar missing on opening any website in firefox nightly 38.0a1

On Mac the scroll bars can be hidden and only have them show when you scroll the page so you can see the current scroll position.
The idea is that a touch pad is used that doesn't require the scroll bars to be visible and thus have more screen estate for the browsing area.
You can make the scroll bars always visible:
System Preferences > General > Show Scroll Bar > Choose "Always"
You can try to delete the xulstore.json file in the Firefox profile folder.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

  • Scroll Bar missing on Safari web pages and unfamiliar screen saver image

I recently upgraded my OS X from Panther to Tiger v. 10.4.11 and upgraded to Safari 3.1.2. Now the scroll bar down the right side is missing from the open web page in Safari. Where did it go and how do I get it back?
Also, unfamiliar images appear, something like a screen saver when I leave my computer for a
few minutes without putting it to sleep or shutting it down. It's a black/white/gray portrait of
a woman and as the picture moves around the screen, the image magnifies. I have no idea
where this image came from nor how to get rid of it. Any ideas?

Hi Busy1, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
    5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it finishes.
The usual reason why updates fail or mess things up, or things don't load/run, is if Permissions are not fixed before & after every update, with a reboot... you may get a partial update when the installer finds it doesn't have Permissions to change one obscure little part of the OS, leaving you with a mix of OS versions.
Some people get away without Repairing Permissions for years, some for only days.
If Permissions are wrong before applying an update, you could get mixed OS versions, if Directory is the slightest messed up, who knows!
If many Permission are repaired, or any Directory errors are found, you may need to re-apply some the latest/biggest updates again, or even do an A&I if you have enough free disk space.

The combo update for Intel-based Macs...
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/macosx10411comboupdateintel.html
Repair Permissions after re-install, then reboot again.
If all the above do not resolve the problem, then it's time for an Archive & Install, which gives you a new OS, but can preserve all your files, pics, music, settings, etc., as long as you have plenty of free disk space...

Check System Preferences>Desktop & Screen Saver>Screen saver Tab for that.

  • Playlist scroll bar missing?

    Hello all.
Just installed the new Itunes 11. Went to one of my playlists to find a song to listen to only to see that the scroll bar on the right side of the playlist column is now gone! Am I missing something here? How do I scroll down thru my playlists now? Using the mouse wheel is way to time comsuming!
If any of you have the answer to this question i'd sure appreciate it if you'd let me know.
    Thanks.
    Jeff

Jeff, when you open iTunes and the window appears, click the very top of the window and drag it to the left and you will see the scroll bar on the right. Then click the maximize button on the upper r/h corner and it will stay. You will have to do this evey time you open iTunes until Apple puts out an update which fixes this problem for us windows users.

  • Down arrow in scroll bar missing

Most of the time the down arrow on the scroll bar is missing or occupies the same space as the page expansion square in the lower right hand corner. This happens whether the up scrolling arrow is at the bottom or the top. It happens with all pages on Firefox and most pages from search engines. Sometimes it is there. It is on this page and some linked pages.

strange problem. Not sure if it will help but you can try this:
run the following command in the terminal
defaults write "Apple Global Domain" AppleScrollBarVariant DoubleBoth
restart Firefox and see what happens. the above is supposed to put up and down scroll arrows both at the top and at the bottom of the page.

  • Viewing mac's webmail in safari - scroll bar issues

i've noticed that the apple site and .mac have had a makeover in the last few days.
    it's a nice upgrade, but i'm having problems viewing my .mac webmail with safari;
i have webmail set up with 3 panes; left hs are folders, top is messages and bottom is preview. however now the scrollbars do not allow me to scroll to the end of the message preview. instead, when the scroll bar is at the bottom of the window i have only scrolled through part of the message!
does anyone know if this is a mail or safari issue, and how to fix it - it's very annoying!
(i would use the mail app but i'm behind a firewall and can't configure it, so i have to use safari and webmail)

This forum is for discussing issues related to the Mail & Address Book applications included with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). If you’re not talking about Mac OS X’s Mail, but .Mac mail on the web instead, the right forum for such questions would be .Mac Email On The Web.

  • Email fonts have changed and scroll bar missing

Not sure how, but when using Firefox and opening my email all my fonts have changed to 8pt size and all regular font (i.e., not bold for unread msgs) and the scroll bar is missing.
When I open email using another browser, all email settings are consistent/normal as they were before and the scroll bar is visible/in position.

  • ITunes scroll bar missing

When in my collection of SONGS in iTunes, previously, I would see an alphabetical display down the right side of the screen so you could "jump quickly" to other songs in the list by touching a letter that alphabetical listing.  That alphabetical listing has disappeared form the screen.  How do I get the scroll bar back?   I have re-installed iTunes, I have done a full restore of my entire iPhone and the issue still remains.   I have a 5s and all software is fully updated to the latest versions.
    Thank you!

    Hi Lex,
Yes I should have said the music app.  That is a good correction.
The red alphabet list on the right hand side that you referenced is exactly what is missing now.
I used to see it displayed, now it is simply non-existent and I want to get it back.
    Thanks

  • Horizontal scroll bar missing after switch to Apex 4 theme

    Hi,
I upgraded Apex to 4.02 and switch my application theme from old 3.2 theme to new Apex 4.0 theme,
I found that all the Apex 4.02 won't show horizontal scroll if the interactive report width larger than the browser windows width.
Is this the default behaviour of all the 4.0 theme?
How can I change it to display the horizontal scroll bar.
    Thanks
    Vincent

How about editing the template with some css?
something like this should fix your problems (worked fine for me)
    #two-col
    overflow: auto;
dont forget to change the template body (Shared Components --> Templates --> Edit Page Template )
    (div class="tab-holder")
    #REGION_POSITION_04#
    (/div)
note: I reversed the tags to ( ) because it dont shows them else

  • Scroll bars missing in CHM output

When importing a project from HelpStudio, everything imports, but it seems that 2nd level TOC topics are not displaying vertical scroll bars when viewed in the CHM output.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?
Suggestions? ("Other than use another format")
    -Matt

    Heya Matt
Try looking at the HTML behind the offending topics. See if they make mention of a scroll=no anywhere. If so, that's likely your culprit! Remove the scroll=no and you should be set.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Accordion scroll bar missing in IE6

    As soon as I specify a width for an accordion- .Accordion {
width:275px;} -, the vertical scroll bars disappear. Why is
    that and
what can be done about it?

I was able to find the problem, which I believe is an IE6
    overflow
issue. By default, SpryAccordion.css sets the Accordion
    container to
overflow:hidden; and in IE6 as soon as you specify a width,
    scrollbars
are also hidden. So to overcome this problem I needed to
    remove
overflow:hidden; from the Accordion container but leave
    overflow:auto;
    on for AccordionPanelContent.
That solved the problem of not seeing the scrollbars and I
    was now able
to control the width of the accordion. However, because IE6
    places the
scrollbar outside of the container it is scrolling, the
    scrollbar was
hanging out to the right of the accordion and the panel tabs
    ended
abruptly at the scrollbar left edge. This meant that the
    background
color of the panel tabs stopped before reaching the edge of
    the
accordion div. I solved this issue by setting the right
    margin of the
AccordionPanelTab to -16px only for IE6 and below using the
    underscore
hack. Here's an excerpt of my AccordionPanelTab declarations:
    margin: 0; /* for compliant browsers */
    _margin: 0 -16px 0 0; /* to fix for ie6 & below */
Of course this is not a perfect solution because the
    accordions have
different widths depending on whether or not they have
    scrollbars, but
this is the best solution given the shortcomings of IE6. I
    hope this
    helps others.

  • Safari URL bar missing

Don't know how this happened (must have hit something by accident) but the URL type bar isn't there anymore unless I expand the entire page with the arrow thing on the top right corner. I'm unable to drag the corners to expand the page how I'd like. I looked into the preferences and the "customize tab" thing...nothing helping. I also tried restarting my computer which didn't work. Any other suggestions? thanks!

Click "View"menu  in the Safari menubar and select "Show Toolbar".
    or
Click "View" menu in the Safari menu bar and click "Customize Toolbar".
From the drop down drag the default set into the Toolbar.
the one under " or drag the default set into the Toolbar"
    Click "Done".
    Best.
